Start this review off I want to note I originally planned on it being a solid 3/4 star review potentially. I go with my initial impressions. I came in without a reservation because I decided with friends to stroll through this lovely town. The people here are so kind and wonderful I was excited to try a local spot. What I soon realized while the aim is elevated cuisine it was definitely an attempt. I say this as the front of house was not welcoming. As service went on we ordered 2 appetizers and 3 mains to potentially leave room for dessert. Now they took our appetizer order 20 minutes into being seated. Then the dinner order an entire 45mins after we received the appetizers. We being in no rush felt like it seemed that was just the way the staff did things as other tables arrived it became apparent we would be like the forgotten child right square in the middle of the restaurant. What makes this crazy is I had ordered a sangria and would never be able to order one again. Let me tell you why... It took one hour and 35 minutes to receive one meal. I had to ask to find out how long it would take. We didn't want to stiff the kitchen with potentially almost fished ticket. So my meal came out, then eventually (10 minutes later) my husbands meal, and then the highlight the pumpkin risotto (another 10 minutes later). My picanha was a medium/well vs medium rare not worth returning. Tough to chew and everything was just ok nothing I would have really wrote on about. My husband's chicken was delicious and I would normally rave bout the over meal he ordered. Our real issue was the risotto... salty and overwhelming truffle made it inedible. The pumpkin was nice but the dish was in a word Horrible. We tried to let the server know and that took another 30 minutes. They took the dish back just to return and say "we didn't add salt so there is nothing we can do and we will not take it off the check" Obviously upsetting since it was a not touched dish. I let them know how overwhelming the parm was in general and they decided to let me know I didn't know what I was doing. "These are the ingredients and that's how it's made" so basically my palate is the problem. What's funny is I ordered the prosciutto risotto balls and anyone knows prosciutto tends to be salty. We had absolutely no issue there. All in all the kitchen declined and offered a sad pumpkin flan. I'm going to say if your a local I'm sure they might be kind, but as a diner who is visiting the island I'd not recommend it to anyone because of the terrible experience I had. read more

Spectacular wine event! It was our first time here and was so excited when the restaurant returned my call (I didnt even leave a message!) to notify me of this special event. From the extensive wine tasting list, tasty tapas, and attentive service... I was floored by it all. I definitely have this place on my list for when I return during Christmas! read more

The love, passion and dedication is noticeable from the first moment one enters. The atmosphere is high class which I was surprised but delighted to find in the center of Barceloneta since it is not so common, but extremely necessary. The background jazz, low light and colors transport you to a unique experience. But the food, THE FOOD, I did not savor any dish that I did not consider a 10/10. The salmon was perfectly done as well as the meats. The "yucca mofongo" was delicious and with the accompanying sauce it was even more elevated. Merced offers recognized dishes, but they elevate it to a level that makes you feel like you're trying it for the first time. Perfect for a date night or special family outing. They also have more casual spaces outside that have views of the plaza. Highly recommended! read more

Excellent dining experience!! We ordered some chorizos in wine, for dinner a dorado fillet in aeoli sauce lying on a vianda mashed , for my daughter a mofongo stuffed with shrimp and to finish off a tasty pumpkin flan. Good variety of craft beers, wine cellar and cocktails. In short, I can guarantee that everything was excellent from the service to the food. A very good experience, Super recommended !!! Let me start by saying that I have worked in the restaurant business for 15 years. I understand what it is like to run around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to keep up with the chaos. I also very rarely will ever send food back because I have felt the struggles and frustration that comes along with that when you are on the other end of things. So when I say that neither of these were the case with my experience, I mean it whole souled. I will begin with the positive points. I got the meatballs as an appetizer and they were probably the best meatballs I have ever had before. The sauce was divine and combined with the complementary dinner pita they serve, I had very high hopes for my dinner. That is the only reason my review received the second star because what happened next completely ruined my entire experience. Now the fun part. It took forever for the server to just take our appetizer order. But it was a fancier restaurant and so I figured they just did everything in stages. As this point, everything was still fine. Then It took the server about 45 minutes after our appetizers were finished to even take our dinner orders. Again, I understand being too busy to get to people quickly, but this was on another level. People around us were all getting their food even though they arrived after us so we started feeling like our table had been forgotten. we waited over an hour and had to eventually ask how long the food was going to take. After another 15 minutes, they proceeded to bring out each individuals' dinners at my table in 15 minute increments. Mine being the last. I ordered the pumpkin risotto. It was disgusting. Even then I thought, maybe it's just me. So I had my 2 friends who are chefs try it and they both said it was unpalatable. You could clearly see that my dish was barely touched and since we had waited so long for our food and were anxious to leave, I just sent it back and asked for it to be removed from the bill. The waitress took it into the kitchen, (not returning it mind you) and when she came back out she said she would not be removing it from the bill. She then proceeded to list the ingredients in it and told me that if I didn't like what was in it, I should not have ordered it. It was the pure condescension that really did me in. As if I wasn't educated enough to have eaten risotto before and know how it's made. So I paid for a dish that tasted horrendous and that the rude server threw in the trash. Needless to say, not even the delicious meatballs are enough to make me return. read more
