    Plantain Soup

El ladrillo was recommended to me by my nice uber driver of places to try while staying in Dorado. It's a fancy artsy high class restaurant and since I wanted to take myself on a solo fine and dine date I opted here based on the good reviews. The service was really excellent too. All the waiters came and conversed with me or I to them. It was my first time finally really getting to try mofongo and the waitress recommended having it softer by substituting it with 2 sweet plantains which was cool. The softness and little hit of sweet and salty felt different in a good way on the taste buds. It also was my first time trying plantain soup as I wanted to stray away from my usual orders to try new things. I saw there's many ways to make it so I loved how I left with some new recipe ideas. The filet mignon was my main course and disclaimer its basically cabaret sauce with cherries. It dawned on me while I was eating it where my little buzz was coming from. All in all I would recommend this lil gem if you want to treat yourself well.

The restaurant is nice. What I like about it the most is that is has its own private parking lot. The restaurant is decorated with paintings all around. It's actually beautiful all around. The lighting and music choices are exelent. We ordered two appetizers sestas al ajo tostados. Mushrooms in a garlic buttery sauce. It was good. We also had perchuto with manchego cheese, exelent. We all enjoyed it. The main course was chuleton de ternera PuertoRicostyle, Veil chops with pepper and onions sauce. With a side. I chosed french fries. Personally I think this dish should have come with white rice also. It would have complemented the sauce. The dish was delicious I would order it again. I was surprised that no dinner rolls. It took a long time to serve us from the appetizers to dinner course. Dinner rolls would have nice. The service was very. The food was exelent. It's a place that I would love to come bock again.

We came here for my brother and sister-in-law's wedding party dinner. It was an intimate dinner on a Saturday night. We sat in the table in the back left corner where we got to view beautiful art like mango and coconut paintings. The food was phenomenal my favorites were the Croquetas, the filet mignon, and the flan. My sister-in-law's favorites were the Churrasco and the papaya and get us Croquetas. My brothers favorites were everything. And he's really high maintenance. the servers English was amazing and were so hospitable to us crazy tourists.

The ambiance is wonderful and the staff are very sweet. It is definitely worth a visit. We had cheese appetizer, paella, flan and wine. Food is rather bland but not bad. Our service was lovely. We very much enjoyed ourselves.

We even met the chef who was so kind! We got the yuca fries, bone marrow, fava bean tacos, oxtail cannelloni, duck, mahi mahi, black cod, vegan special, chocolate cake, and coconut sorbet! Everything was to die for except the bone marrow which had a super small portion size. The free bread was also amazing! Probably one of the top 3 free restaurant breads I've had. Will 1000000% be back next time I visit PR!

I liked the jovial yet professional service but the food is what made it great. Started with a tuna tartare daily special recommended by the waiter, it was great. Many layers of flavors and the tuna and avocado was fantastic. I then had the ribeye (the smaller one, at only 20 oz :-)) and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. For those who haven't seen my other reviews, I've been to hundreds of the best steakhouses, from NY to Chicago to Las Vegas to London, and while this wasn't a steakhouse it was fantastic. A nice think ribeye, perfect marbling but they also got the medium rare exactly as it should be, with an incredible char on the outside. I would fly back to Puerto Rico just to have this steak again. I also liked the crispy brussel sprouts and the asparagus were excellent, larger portion than you get elsewhere and nice thick asparagus. Finished with the I think 7 layer coconut cake, which I thought was the nicest dessert (split it with my wife's key lime pie, also good, and daughter's carrot cake donuts). Can't wait to go again.

So on our first night in the PR, we definitely wanted some authentic Puerto Rican food and with no recommendations, I resulted to what I know and did some Yelp searching. Not far from us was Toston Jibareño. As soon as we entered, I knew we were in the right place. The place has a decent amount of people inside so I knew it had to be ok. The menu has items I wasn't familiar with, but I went with what I thought I knew. Let me just say everything we ordered was spot on authentic to what I know. The pork chops was out of this world. The mofongo's and tostones brought back memories, the skirt steak was so tender and they did not have arroz con gondules, but instead arroz con habichuelas which are beans and I can't eat beans. It was a great first night. As much as I would love to come back,I have to try different places and different things, but if you are a local and haven't been here or a tourist and want good PR food, this is a great first stop.

My friends and I shared the skirt steak with mofongo, and the mofongo was the best we had our entire trip. We got to try to chicharron too, and it was crispy and flavorful. The steak was tender and juicy. I can't remember much else from the meal, but I would definitely come back, even just for the mofongo alone!
