So this stop was a blast- the sandwiches were delicious but what made the whole stop fun was the barnyard animals in the back. You read right- the outdoor "backyard" picnic area has chickens, goats, turkeys, emus, peacocks and a donkey, pig & sheep. A must-stop for kids! Also- My BLTA was huge and a ton of bacon. My son loved the hotdog. The staff were totally nice and trusted us to stay hanging out with the animals after the store closes. read more

I'm here for the birds ! There is an assortment of birds to visit !! Made my heart so full! They do all dried fruit , nuts , fresh produce , evoo , dipping oils , fresh candy , and all natural ice cream . We will be back to try the sandwiches and visit the birds again! read more

What a cute stop! We just had amazing ice cream, and very cheap compared to SF prices- $5.50 for two enormous scoops. We also saw giant turkeys out back and enjoyed the talking parrot (and other parrots!). We bought a delicious-looking, frozen strawberry pie which we can't wait to bake. While the selection of fruits and dried goods available here is great, the large selection of parrots trapped in cages in the front made me really sad. They look unhappy and are constantly nibbling on the cages. If you look deep into their eyes you can intuitively sense their sadness. Parrots are endemic to the rainforest and belong in the rainforest. If you truly love parrots, you'll set them free rather than keep them in human possession. According to wildlife conservation organizations and public health organizations, it's strongly advised against the exotic trade and possession of wildlife birds from an environmental and public health perspective. Keeping parrots caged domestically disrupts the natural flow of rainforest ecosystems, promotes the spread of zoonotic diseases, and interrupts bird welfare. It's unethical, cruel, and many biologists advocate for the outlaw of this outdated practice. It's only a matter of time before this inhumane practice gets outlawed. It makes me sad how caging wildlife birds is still so normalized in society. I hope one day the owners read this and wake up to the fact that this is an inhumane practice rather than being in denial about it. May all beings be happy and free from suffering. read more

From the highway this deceptively appears to be a cute lil' farm stand, but it is really more of a tourist trap (though not a particularly bad one). It's basically a large convenience store, that in addition to the expected snacks, treats and drinks, also carries dried fruit and nuts, olive oil, spices, ice cream, a few baked goods, and gift shop-y/souvenir type items. Out back we discovered a petting zoo along with shaded picnic tables, and plenty of restrooms. It looked like they might make deli sandwiches (though I'm not positive) so I could see it being a nice place to take a break from the road. When we entered we were greeted by several parrots, one of whom made it clear our excitement at meeting him was not mutual, and just screeched the entire time we were in the open section out front. I love animals, but it was painfully loud and unpleasant. Once we got inside it stopped, thankfully. I was seeking fresh, locally grown fruit, and while they did offer some produce, it just looked like average stuff from a grocery store. The dried fruit was more appealing, so I picked up some plums, and my travelling companions got trail mix, nuts, and a few other snacky snacks. They have some out to sample, and the selection of those products was extensive. We did not realize there was a petting zoo when we stopped, and though our group consisted of adults only, we ended up spending a good fifteen minutes hanging with the peacock, turkeys, goat, emus, llama, sheep, and various other animals. The employees were all friendly. Prices were a tad high, but not surprisingly so given the location and lack of other nearby options. I would not go out of my way to return here, but it was fun to check out once, and again, if traveling it is a nicer spot to take a break compared to a gas station or rest stop. read more

I just left here a few mins ago. Im new in town and glad i found this gem! This is the CUTEST little store/ bakery/ deli i've seen so far in merced. Lots of parrots in the front. Lots of seating and cool/ unique things to looks at. Sadly we came close to closing time so didn't get to experience all of what this place had to offer. I was able to buy some chocolate almost and a small maple syrup which im hoping is good. read more

The name is deceptive - there's very little fruit here, at least of the fresh variety. This place is really just a stopping off point on the way to or from Yosemite to find gifts or have a not-so-quick bite to eat. We came here for a late lunch recently. There were perhaps one or two other customers when we arrived, so we proceeded to go to the back and order sandwiches. Even though there was nobody else ordering food, it took well over 30 minutes for our entire group to get their food. Of the six sandwiches that we ordered, two were incorrect. One was supposed to be a hot sandwich, and it came out cold - and then it took over 15 minutes to get it fixed. Another came without lettuce, but at that point we had been waiting for so long that we didn't bother to ask to get it remade. As for the rest of the place, it's mostly a gift shop, with various food and kitsch items. I have my doubts that a lot of the food are actually locally produces - e.g. the flavored almonds and the dried fruit. I see identical items at C.J. Olson's in Sunnyvale and Casa de Fruta along the Pacheco Pass Highway. I suspect that all these places get their food from some large distributor and then slap their personal label across them. Anyways, that's mostly an observation and not a criticism. At any of these locations, expect to pay a lot per unit weight for these goodies. What saves this place from a 2-star rating is the birds and other animals. It does make it a lot of fun for kids and adults. The exotic birds up front are satisfyingly noisy, and the animals out back (including an emu, a llama, a potbellied pig, several little bunnies, among others) are interesting, and you can get a pretty close look at all of them. read more

I've had a couple of really good sandwiches (The Gobbler & TBA) from the deli. Kinda "shabby chic-ish" decorations, very clean bathrooms and a friendly staff. Looks like a place you would take your girlfriend to on the weekend. Large outdoor seating area. read more

i've past this place for decades..today i figure why not. it's very interesting, it has an outdoor sitting in the front and out back. there's birds and other livestock of sorts..beautiful fruit and deli..it also has an assortment of adult beverages wing with the usual soft drinks and other goodies. great family atmosphere and friendly staff. read more

This is a pleasant farm to visit if you're going to or coming from a trip to Yosemite. The adults enjoyed the variety of fruit, nuts and other goodies. And the kiddies enjoyed "Lola", the talking macaw in the store and also the other animals at the back, which you can view free of charge. Lots of picture ops here. They have a beautiful set-up here and it looks like they welcome large groups of visitors with their picnic tables and clean and plentiful toilet cubicles. read more

Come to see the barn animal, peacock, and parrots! Then, shop around. The sandwiches are very tasty, the dried fruits and nuts are also very good, and the ice cream isn't half bad either! And, seriously, cleanest bathrooms on the highway.... hands down. I'm so glad we stopped in. I wish they had a few more organic choices but given they are more of a tourist stop, I get that they aren't exactly catering to me and my crunchiness. But honestly, we will definitely keep stopping either on our way up or down the mountains:) read more

This is basically a touristy, overpriced convenience store. I did not see any local fruit, just packaged things. There is parking for tour buses to and from Yosemite. What I found most appalling is the small cages in front that contain large South American parrots (one of them seemed to be in distress) and the small enclosure in the back that contains a variety of animals, standing in open water and mud. 1/3-1/2 of the unsheltered enclosure was covered with water and with at least 7 animals in a small space were trying to stay in the dry area (which is mud-there is no grass). There is really no reason to stop here. read more

What a wonderful little stop on the way to Mariposa. Rescued birds, a collection of peacocks, pot bellied pigs, ducks, sheep, goats, emus, etc. and a lovely tree covered back picnic area. We didn't try their food but there was a deli we'll try next time and fruits and such. read more

FUN!!! My husband and I were coming back from Mariposa and so glad to stop in!! We did not have anything to eat, but bought some fresh produce and pictures. But the real fun are the farm animals! Lots of local produce and products. Cute atmosphere. Outdoor picnic area with farm animal viewing/petting/feeding place. My kids really enjoyed running around and feeding the llama. Lunch left a little to be desired. Hot dogs were microwaved, not like our children minded much, but none the less. When I ordered I asked the staff what kind of lunch meat they had and I got attitude. I'm picky about lunch meat, so I like to see before I order. When I asked to see it she drug the lid off and said "this is the turkey." She was clearly annoyed by my existence. I ended up settling for the roast beef. There was absolutely nothing special about this sandwich. At all. It pains me to say it, but Subway has better sandwiches. Honestly, eat lunch somewhere else, and get an ice cream here. read more

This place was great. We stopped just for fruit and found a zoo meticulously clean and well cared for. An aviary with well cared for birds ( even a rescued cockatoo). A very wide selection of great specialty honey, oils. Too much to name. Don't pass through Merced without stopping. read more

They have the sweetest Llama you will ever meet, plus cute potbellied pigs, peacocks, goats, and...a really nice little deli.
