Owner William is a Pro. He came by on Tuesday and gave me a price. He was back Wednesday to replace my failed Garage Door Unit. There was some issue that was going to make him 10 minutes late and he called and apologized letting me know he'd be late. That was really refreshing as some companies never actually show up. The Motor Unit as well as the long chain structure, garage switch and remote controller were replaced in about an hour and he lubricated the door springs & rollers as well. The job was well done. One of the most honest sales person I've come across in a very long time. The father and son team came out and let me know what was wrong, what we needed, where to get it and what options I'd expect to find at the hardware store and of course what the difference would be between them. The day of install, he corrected the old poorly mounted support system, checked all the components of my old garage door and explained what could possibly cause issues down the line and why. Having an old wooden door with some components that not only showed wear and tear but also a bad install for the previous owner, not once did he try to upsell us on a new door. He was honest and said we will be able to manage but to keep those findings into consideration if we continue to have problems. He explained the type of doors he would be able to offer us if the time came and again, did not pressure us into thinking we needed the best of the best. Precision had came out the week before and from the very beginning of the consult, I was being told that everything needed to be replaced. We have 2 garages so replacing one door would mean needing to replace both and Merced Garage Doors quoted us an incredibly reasonable quote. THE ONLY LICENSED GARAGE DOOR SERVICE IN TOWN. Before finding Merced Garage Doors, I called a couple of other places. These other companies would not provide me with their license. When I called Merced Garage Doors, Will answered and when I inquired about a license, he provided it without question. Will is professional and knowledgeable. I got a new garage door and the quality of work provided was top tier. I didn't feel pressured into making a decision. He went as far as giving me options to let me decide on how I want to proceed. I called on a Thursday and spoke to William about replacing my at least 30 year old broken garage door openers. William provided suggestions on which openers to purchase and stated that he could be out the next day To install them. I scheduled the appointment, William and his son arrived within the time slot i was quoted. Within a few short hours I had 2 brand new garage door openers installed. They even made sure the spring tension on my old garage doors was properly adjusted as well as lubricating them. It's not an option to give zero stars, but if I could I would!!! HORRIBLE!!!! Came and installed my door. With 48 hours (maybe less) we noticed the glass on one of the windows had cracked. We called the owner, he said he couldn't get back out for 2 weeks. During that time, we painted the door to match the other one and we noticed the door he installed was rubbing against the wood frame and scraping the paint off. When the owner (William) finally came back out, he said there was "no way" this was on him. It had to be a neighbor" or us doing yard work that broke the glass. When I explained the door was rubbing and needed to be adjusted he told me I was "wrong" and "I've been doing this 16 years" and wouldn't accept any fault or responsibility. He also wanted to charge me to adjust the door and replace the glass. He didn't offer any sort of manufacturer warranty because it "had to be (our) fault." Absolutely ridiculous! Horrible business ethic!!! Would never refer this business to anyone!!! Now I'll have to go to small claims court to get it fixed. read more
