When I called Merced Garage Doors, Will answered and when I inquired about a license, he provided it without question. Will is professional and knowledgeable. I got a new garage door and the quality of work provided was top tier. I didn't feel pressured into making a decision. He went as far as giving me options to let me decide on how I want to proceed. Once I made a decision, he was able to get me scheduled and get the job completed within a timely manner. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again for any future garage door needs. Highly recommended!!

The day of install, he corrected the old poorly mounted support system, checked all the components of my old garage door and explained what could possibly cause issues down the line and why. Having an old wooden door with some components that not only showed wear and tear but also a bad install for the previous owner, not once did he try to upsell us on a new door. He was honest and said we will be able to manage but to keep those findings into consideration if we continue to have problems. He explained the type of doors he would be able to offer us if the time came and again, did not pressure us into thinking we needed the best of the best. Precision had came out the week before and from the very beginning of the consult, I was being told that everything needed to be replaced. We have 2 garages so replacing one door would mean needing to replace both and Merced Garage Doors quoted us an incredibly reasonable quote. Precision quoted us for one door what MGD quoted us for both doors if not more! Call Merced Garage Doors. They won't try to take your money like many other companies do. Especially the big chain ones. Thank you MGD!!

Saturday night and our garage door belt broke. Called the Garage Guy Door Repair and Maintenance,…read morein less than an hour they were here to help open our garage door so that we could park our cars outside. Took all the info they needed for a new belt. Next week when the part comes in they will install new belt along with servicing the garage door. A+++ service. And for a weekend house call, the service call was inexpensive. Top notch through and through. 5 stars from us.

Garage Guy came out to look at my damaged garage door. He took a very quick look -- literally a few…read moreseconds -- didn't measure anything, didn't explain anything, and then left. A couple hours later, he texted me a quote for $2,000 for the absolute most basic, non-insulated steel door. After getting multiple other quotes, it was obvious how inflated that price was. Every other company came in hundreds of dollars cheaper for the exact same job, with real explanations and written estimates that actually broke down what I'd be paying for. What really bothered me was the way the whole interaction felt. No details, no transparency, and no willingness to walk me through the pricing. As a woman handling a home repair alone, the approach came across as rushed, dismissive, and like he assumed I wouldn't question the number he eventually texted over. I wouldn't recommend Garage Guy based on this experience. There are other local companies who offer clear communication, fair pricing, and professional treatment -- this wasn't one of them. Hi Andrew, Thank you for responding to my Yelp review. I want to clarify a few points to make sure the situation is accurately represented. First, I did not request a carriage-house door. My existing garage door is a standard raised-panel steel door with a row of rectangular windows, and that is the style I asked about replacing. At no point did I mention or request a decorative or carriage-house style. Second, your quote of $2,000 for a non-insulated door was significantly higher than the estimates I received from other reputable companies for the exact same type of replacement. Their quotes ranged between $1,250-$1,550, which is why your price was concerning. Third, regarding the visit: I assumed the technician may have measured the door from the outside before knocking, but if he did, it was extremely fast. It took me less than five minutes to let my dogs outside before I opened the door for him, so the entire assessment from arrival to departure was very brief. No measurements were taken in my presence, no options were discussed, and no information about door types or warranties was provided. He told me he would send something over in 20-30 minutes, and the only thing I received was a short text message hours later with the $2,000 price. When I asked for a detailed written quote, he said he had sent it and would send it again, but I never received anything further. My review reflects the quoting and communication experience, which is a valid aspect of customer service. Transparency, clear pricing, and follow-through matter, and I stand by what I shared.

After he checked out the door he walked me through what happened and what my options were to fix. He knew the dollar amounts and what each additional item would cost. I contacted Precision Garage Door because we needed to replace one bracket on our garage door. I…read moreexpected the technician to evaluate the repair and explain our options. Instead, he opened his tablet, made a beeline for my husband, and spent about 20 minutes giving him a sales pitch. It was as if he had found a kid on Halloween with an empty candy bag; once he identified who he thought was making the purchasing decision, that was where all of his attention went. Before we knew it, the conversation had shifted from replacing a single bracket to placing two brackets across, installing a new belt-drive system, and a new garage door opener. The technician told us they could not repair the broken bracket because of the type of motor we had and stated that California law prevented them from working on the garage that did not have a backup battery. So our perfectly working garage opener needed to be replaced as well. That explanation played a significant role in our decision. This is not true: in California, if your garage door predates the law, you don't have to replace it. (see link below). He also spewed something about how our garage door was really heavy, we needed new springs, and a commercial motor. California Senate Bill 969 (SB 969): https://legiscan.com/CA/text/SB969/id/1820753 The proposed cost was about 3000.00. In our family, we almost always obtain three to five estimates before making any major home repair decision. Before this techinician came to my house. I obtained two additional estimates from highly rated companies (both with 4- and 5-star reviews), and those estimates ranged from $425 to $499. The price difference was substantial and reinforced my concern that we may have been sold far more than we actually needed. I have to admit, either this technician was an exceptionally talented salesman, or my husband experienced a very brief lapse in judgment, or a small TIA .In all seriousness, in 25 years of marriage, we have always made important financial decisions as a team. If one of us says, "Let's slow down," the other listens. That's exactly why this experience was so disappointing; it completely disrupted the way we've always made decisions together, not the technical faults, He was just an excellent salesman. As I repeatedly asked my husband to slow down so we could discuss the proposal privately, I felt the technician continued pushing the sale instead of giving us the space we were asking for. Rather than treating both homeowners equally, he focused almost exclusively on my husband, whom he apparently he believed had the purchasing power. The pressure became so uncomfortable that I eventually walked away from the conversation, again a first and last in my marriage; it was that or let my Latin- perimenopausal side out, and I just knew it was not going to be pretty, so I just left. Looking back, I truly wish my husband had simply paused and allowed us to do what we have always done: research the issue before making a major financial decision. Had we done that, I believe we would have better understood what California law actually requires and would have sought a second opinion before agreeing to such an expensive replacement. After some serious conversation, I understood this was a defining factor for the impulsive decision, as the technician made it sound like this was a fact, and he was an expert on the subject. The installation itself appears to have been completed competently, which is why I gave credit for that one start. Well, to be honest, I think I have to at least put one star to place the review. However, good workmanship does not excuse poor communication, aggressive sales tactics, excessive pricing, or information that I later questioned. If you're considering Precision Garage Door, my advice is simple: slow down, get multiple estimates, and do your own research before agreeing to any major repair or replacement. I also encourage you to read the company's negative reviews along with the positive ones. While every customer's experience is different, I found that some of the concerns expressed by others closely mirrored what my husband and I experienced. On a positive note, my husband's major purchase decision-making privileges were temporarily revoked by a unanimous family vote of 3 out of 4. (Yes, the kids got involved.) He served a five-month probationary period, completed his retraining, and has since regained his privileges. Looking back, we can laugh about it now. The garage door works, my husband has fully recovered from his temporary lapse in judgment, and our family has an even stronger rule than before: no major purchase gets approved until we've had time to research it together and come to a common ground. As expensive as this lesson was, the value of the experience has been priceless. Thank you, Precision Garage Door. I would rather open the garage door by hand than call you, after all, the door is not that heavy.
