Not allowed to use my money when and how I want or need to. We are booking a vacation home for next May 2027 in Hawaii for my whole family and the rental is a little less than $20,000. Only options to pay are by debit/credit, Apple or PayPal all of which are connected to my bank account. I went to the local branch and filled out the paperwork to open my daily limit to allow the purchase. Then went back the next day to do the transaction while in the bank to make sure everything went smoothly since I have had multiple issues with large transactions not going through even when filling out the required paperwork. 2 different times I've tried to purchase plane tickets between $3000-$4000 and never been able to use my bank card. This time the VP said absolutely not. She would not allow my card to be opened for such a large transaction even with me doing the transaction while in the bank. Said that the only way such a large amount could be done is through a wire transfer or cashiers check which is not a payment option for Airbnb. I understand it's for protection but that is why I was doing this while in their presence. Airbnb does offer an option to pay half now and the remainder later and I was still told no. I am tired of not being able to access my money when I need it for what I want to use it for. I will be closing my account and I am encouraging my adult children as well as my siblings and parents to close their accounts. read more

There are 100 to 200 past and active cases in small claims court involving Merco Credit Union who I submit was too generous granting auto loans to sub par borrowers. I found the personal experience superior and look forward to Refi our new car auto loan with Merco. Their website has a wealth of tools and financial education. Rare to find exemplary businesses in Merced and Merco nails it. read more

Got a call for a late payment. Which I did not fully understand. I know I was late for November 2023, and made a one time payment. I assume my auto-pay was not effected for December 2023. I saved my money, did not spend a dime for December since it was Christmas and New Year coming up. Money got taken out and got a call today (Jan. 10, 2024) and was confused. Explain to the lady (forgot her name) I saved enough for it. She goes on and being disrespectful and did not understand my POV. The way how she said it, sound like she saying "im broke, i spend on something I forgot or used it." Which I know if i did then, my kids would of got something for Christmas which they didn't. Immediately cut me off and asking when I'm making payment then instantly ended call. Really? That's how ya'll treat customer? Only if I did not forgot her name, I would let everyone knows. My account was negative under one hundred dollars and I was notified via mail only. This is the second time this bank has consistently closed my checking account . I feel like this bank does not communicate throughly with their members and the system is completely failed . Someone needs to talk to this company as a whole. I will be reporting this as well to the BBB in regards to negligence to communicating with their customers. I've been charged over draft fees for no reason. I've had to be reissued bank cards due to account being closed multiple times, and I just don't understand why the consistent confusion . A worker named Yamsin and Celeste have been the only bright spots in these consist issues. It's embarrassing to have to keep going through this and I will be looking for another bank to do business with since is the first time in my life dealing with this type of nonsense from any bank . My husband and I have a JOINT checking account with Merco. He passed away almost 4 weeks ago. When I notified them, they said that they prefer that I close the account and open a new one. This is even when I explained the mortgage is drawn from that account and Income to cover that and more is already set up for deposits into the account. In order to open a new one I would need to travel there from halfway accross the country in person. It couldn't be online or over the phone. I explained what a HUGE inconvenience that is. They suggested I close and open a new account closer to home... never once did they even express their condolences. HORRIBLE customer service! read more

I'm really thankful for the manager Shay & one of the account collectors. I can't recall her name but they helped me so much getting the dealer I got my car from to do something, they didn't have to but they spoke to the dealer for me & actually got things going. All the tellers are very nice as well. & theirs never a long wait. I just wish they would set up a site to pay online. read more

The Merced branch is small, tidy, and well organized. It has a drive up teller, and two ATM's. The waiting times, or lack there of I should say, are very short. The most surprising thing to me was how quiet it is. Maybe it's because the tellers are spaced further apart than what I was used to at BoA, or maybe it's because people here use their inside voices, unlike some other places [cough] BoA [cough][cough]. Customer service is fantastic. The tellers quickly and coherently assist you and they can answer most of your questions without the help of their superiors, and that is a big plus in my opinion. Another big plus (and this also applies to most credit unions) are the lower fees, interest rates, and balance requirements when compared to banks. So far I'm very pleased with Merco, and best of all I get to support a local business. read more

Just opened an account here. Loved the customer service, everyone was super friendly. It felt like everyone who walked through the door had the same impression based on the way they all interacted. The wait times are nearly nonexistent. The services are very straight-forward and there are very few fees to use their services. I would highly recommend this credit union based on my experience so far. I really appreciated the free temporary checks too! They said I could basically get what I needed. read more

Merced I just deposit money order in my account ( was from local bank, from my account ) teller told me would be three day hold, befor i could used the money when i got home receive said it is on a seven day hold , before i can use money...sad teller are liers , i will closed my account,,, ever used the credit union in merced read more

This is worst credit union I have ever dealt with in my entire life. You do not have the option to pay over the phone or pay online (unless you have a savings account with them and you have to have the money in that account to pay the bill). They only have 3 branches and you can only pay in cash (no debit, credit etc.) which can be a hassle. There are always extremely long lines at the branches as well (at least in my experience). They have an ATM but you will be charged a fee of course. Some banks will allow you to pay your bill online through their system but it will still take about 8 days for your payment to actually get to Merco and if you are late over 11 days they will call all of your employers/references listed and threaten to repossess your vehicle. Definitely a credit union who obviously doesn't do well if they need cash payments and want to take your vehicle after being late 1-2 times over a span of 4 years. I have never experienced quality customer service with this business and am hoping to refinance through a different bank/credit union as soon as possible. This place is a HEADACHE :( read more
