So we stopped to check out the sandwiches. I ordered a Philly and it was tasty. But something on the sandwich had a bit of a kick. It was spicy from something. Although I did not expect that it was good. The potato skins were covered in cheese most of which did not get melted and were not so good. I think would the cheese have been melted they would have Ben much better. I believe the sandwiches come with chips and a pickle, we got the pickle but no chips. We were changing drivers and my parents seemed to think you must eat at noon or else. Googled and drove to where Zaxbys supposedly is. It was shuttered. This sandwich shop seemed alright. I ordered a side Casear salad as I wasn't really hungry. My parents shared chicken tenders and okra. The okra was good. Had a large variety of sandwiches. We were there yesterday, Eclipse Day. They looked super busy with To Go orders, but we were still greeted, waited on and served by a nice, friendly staff. Great food all around usually no matter what you order. Call ahead and place a take out order for pick up at the drive thru. Hours are a little sketchy and it's going to take some interior and exterior updating (in addition to a bar of some sort lol) to get me in the building, but the food and the service are good. read more

Doesn't look like much on the outside (or indoor for that matter), but the sandwiches are fresh and prepare with love. Our party of 4 had catfish dinner (crispy and well seasoned), a club (bacon was outstanding) and BLT was piled high on Texas toast. The Merick potatoes were well seasoned and crispy. Stopped into Merick's on my way back home from Memphis for a quick lunch, I was not in the mood for a meal at Lambert's so Merick's seems like a logical choice. When you first walk in you will notice that this is clearly a family run business with a heavy focus on made to order sandwiches. Prices were extremely fair, and portions were generous. I went with the French dip, which was served with onions and a side of au jus on a fresh baked roll, while I am not a fan of onions I pushed them aside and have to admit that the sandwich was a hit. I also went with a side of the house chip, which were pretty good. We decided to finish off the meal with a slice of the strawberry cheesecake, which was more of a cheesecake with a strawberry like moose on top, it was pretty good enough to make me wish that we had went with two slices instead of the one. Overall Merick's is a quality locally owned sandwich shop with a friendly staff offering up some great food at a reasonable value. I recommend checking them out. read more

I've tried alot of fish from different restaurants and I have to say I do think they have the best in Sikeston.

We stopped here for a late lunch while traveling. It's a cute little place that has a surprisingly large choice of sandwiches, soups and appetizers. And they serve a homemade strawberry cheesecake which I wasn't able to try today. Maybe next time. I had the gumbo, which was quite tasty if a bit salty. My wife had the lobster bisque soup that she found inedible - again because of too much salt. But the fried mushrooms and the Merick fries were excellent. My wife really liked the BLT because the bread was exceptional. I had a Reuben that would not cut it at a Jewish deli, but was better than most I have had when not near Chicago or New York. Again, the bread made the sandwich. Hopefully I will get back this way someday to try that cheesecake! read more

This place is just okay. We were driving through Sikeston and didn't want anything fancy, so we stopped here. Signs said best catfish in town so that's what my husband got. He lives catfish and has eaten some of tue heavy in the country... so he's a bit of a catfish snob. They served a good portion and it was hot and crisp but didn't have much flavor. I got the Irish nachos which were basically waffle fries with chilli on top. The chilli was just okay- very similar to Wendy's but less spice. The bad part was the bed of lettuce beneath the fries- totally soggy and wilted. Made the "nachos" a pretty bad experience. read more

Great place to grab lunch! Excellent selection of salads, sandwiches and soups plus catfish plates at affordable prices with Fast and friendly service too! My 5yrold daughter got the kids catfish that came with 2 HUGE pieces of fish , fries and drink while My Grandma and I got their "combos" that included a half sandwich, soup and a drink. All for less than $25! Definitely beats going to fast food and paying nearly as much! read more

This place has pretty good customer service. Although my 1st visit did not start well because I was looking for shrimp. I ordered a Shrimp Basket and got popcorn shrimp. I was looking for real prawns. So I had go back and re-order and they made me pay for a second meal even though I felt is was not well explained. They advertise the best catfish in town. That's a laugh. They should advertise the most overcooked fish in town. The same goes for their chicken strips. If you like your fish or chicken over cooked by a country mile this is the place for you. Their sandwiches are ok however. read more

Was in town for a few days on business. Had lunch at Merick's twice and even came back on the second day for catfish dinner. First and foremost, their chicken salad sandwich is phenomenal. Maybe one of my favorite sandwiches ever. The chicken salad is great, and they put it on this grilled Hawaiian sweet bread...and it was like they made it with magic. I actually came back for it for dinner but tried the catfish instead. It was incredible. Some of the best catfish ever. Not really into a lot of fried foods, but they must use a cornmeal batter, and it doesn't seem like deep fried. The seasoning was great. Staff was super friendly too. Their fish is better than Cheers and Lambert's, don't get me wrong Cheers and Lambert's both have awesome food but Merick's fish is crispy, where the others tend to be soggy. When I travel down to Sikeston to see family there is no way I can pass up stopping at least once here for the Catfish! Their catfish is the best I know of and I always get some in town and some to take home. Only thing I wish was better was the in dining experience. Food was great! BUT big woman behind counter was rude. She let out a big sigh when we walked in an hour and half before they closed. She was working food prep area and had no gloves and her hands/nails were dirty. Now she was wiping her head (with no gloves) when she took our order. Luckily another girl fixed our food. Merick's opened in the old Long John Silver's building, where many restaurants have opened & failed in the past few years. Merick's deserves to stay open! They have a great menu of appetizers, sandwiches, soups, and baked potatoes (and excellent diced fries). I loved my Philly Steak sandwich. Staff is helpful & friendly, and the dining area is comfortable. Hours are 10a-6p every day but Sunday. I heartily recommend them. Update: They now serve breakfast 6a-10:30a Mon-Sat. read more
