The quality of the drinks and pastries here is good, however I've gone here twice a week for the past month and a half and they only get my order right maybe 50% of the time. Just make sure that you double check your order before you leave. I've ordered a matcha latte with coconut milk (which costs extra) at least 5 times and only once did they actually use coconut milk, so if you are lactose intolerant or vegan, then make sure you confirm with them what they used before you take a sip! read more

Excellent coffee. You get what you pay for and you definitely pay for this coffee but it's worth it. There's currently a ton of construction around the shop so parking is a nightmare but if you're in the area or live in a walkable area, this should be your go-to coffee shop. One of the best vanilla lattes I've ever had!! It was such a smooth texture and the perfect amount of sweetness for me. I also tried out their homemade pop tart and really liked it! They went for a pie crust for the pastry instead of the puff pastry route that I see other places do, and I thought the texture of it was on point. The jammy filling and the frosting were also yummy, and it was the perfect treat to accompany a coffee :) The only negative thing I would have to say is that it's a bit pricey - with the small latte and pastry coming to a total of almost 10 dollars. However, I liked my drink so much that I think it's worth it to treat yourself to it every once in a while. Quality is important and they definitely had it!! read more

I was super disappointed especially since my good friend had talked this place up for so long. You would think it's a cool spot being on South Lamar but it's so noisy because of the road you can't even enjoy yourself on the patio. also I got a drip coffee and it was sour maybe it's supposed to taste like that but it really wasn't pleasant at all and I couldn't finish it. I can't speak for their espresso or any of their other drinks I only had a drip coffee but it was not good. Tasted lemony which usually can mean that the beans are under roasted or over roasted or the coffee wasn't brewed correctly. Lattes are a tiny bit more expensive than other coffee shops (especially if you add in an alternative milk) but they make up for it by having FREE refills on their regular coffee. The staff are super friendly, whip out excellent coffee quickly, and you can tell that they work hard to keep the place clean. Merit also gets bonus points for having super nice, gender neutral and handicap accessible bathrooms. They also have vegan and gluten free options for nibblies which is greatly appreciated for those of us with allergies. Plenty of seating with a dog friendly patio and the wifi is good. Overall, a great place to stop in for a coffee or to camp out and get some work done. read more

I buy coffee here a few times a week for a while now but have noticed the "hot" espresso drinks come out room temperature and taste burnt or average at the least. Not sure what happened here. I can live with it, it's close. Upon entering and walking to the register to order we are not greeted with a hello, but instead, "we close at 8pm just to let you know". My response, uh ok, it's 6:45pm what's your point. An annoying too cool for school hipster with a black toque and glasses was just flat out rude. His colleague even had to call him out and tell him "you need to stop telling people we close at 8". He continued to mumble to himself about something and without really reacting because I couldn't care less to engage with an annoying hipster I ordered my drink. The sheer rudeness of this person was a big turn off. I usually don't hold my tongue when someone is being lame, but this time, all I wanted was a coffee so I let it slide. As I left, I still had some courtesy to say "bye, thank you to this person" only to receive no reaction. Guess what? Being an annoying pissed off with your life hipster is so 2015. It's Seaholm district, and I'll damn well stay right until 7:59PM and order a latte. Get a grip, hipster guy. Your rudeness is not welcome in the neighborhood. read more

Really like this coffee shop. They have a great bean selection and good cookies. I recommend getting the pour over coffee using the V60... it brings out the best in the African beans. Also the staff is friendly and chill. My only gripe -- The Wi-Fi situation is bad. Its almost unusable, I end up hot spotting to my phone when I use my laptop at the shop. Love this place! They have a very unique espresso machine (as in it's just a weird lever they pull) but it was excellent! I got a vanilla oat milk latte and it was just the right amount of sweet that didn't overpower the taste of the espresso. Also, had amazingly soft shirts but none left in my size. All plastic, seriously? Just ordered an iced tea for here. Got it in a plastic cup with a top. The tea was weak. I think a new coffee place should get with the program and reduce its use of plastic by offering glass and porcelain for hot drinks. I will bring my own in the future as well as a straw. read more

I'm visiting from San Francisco and this place was recommended to me by a friend. I can see why it came so highly recommended! The baristas were talkative, friendly, and helped me decide on what to get. I ended up going for a cortado and it was fantastic! The espresso had a great flavor and was perfectly balanced. The milk was creamy and steamed perfectly. It was served in a smoky glass cup on a black saucer and it was such a lovely experience! They had organic turbinado sugar to add, and they kindly let me put some cinnamon on the top as well (it was behind the bar). I will certainly try to get back here while I'm still in town and I'll make it a stop every time I visit. What a treat! read more

They weren't too busy when I stopped in, and had my order out in only a couple minutes. Cold brewed coffee was ok but food was mediocre to bad. Savory items need to be warmed but the microwave didn't do the trick and I had a warm pastry with cold hard cheese and sausage in the middle. The worst part of the visit was the cashier who took the order had more interest in the dog in the line than the actual paying customer. Fed a dog biscuit to one of the dogs in the shop than handled food without washing hands. Also handed our food to someone else by mistake and than gave to us after it had been handled by another customer, a big no during pandemic era. There are better options read more
