I love coffee! So naturally I walked by here and decided to go in and give it a try. I loved the simple decor inside, the place was clean, and the servers were super nice and down to earth- we carried a conversation throughout our time there. As for the coffee, I had a cortado and it was amazing! very unique flavor and you could definitely taste different tones in the coffee. Only $4, will definitely be stopping by again if I'm in the area! read more

I was absolutely blown away by how light and airy and fun this coffee shop was. The music was great, they were playing old-school 90s hip-hop. The breakfast tacos were phenomenal. I recommend the potato and egg. This will be my go-to spot when I am wanting to work elsewhere than my home for the week. read more

Great addition to Deep Ellum! The inside was modern and open and I love the floor to ceiling windows. They also have some seating outside. The iced latte I ordered was tasty. I tried the strawberry pop tart and it was the best homemade pop tart I've ever had! I also had an almond croissant which was equally delicious. Spacious and well designed cafe! If you need a place to study, this place seems really nice and quiet. The people there were all working on something and so it was very silent (might not be the best place to go talk to a friend if you guys are loud). Walked in this morning. I had ordered here Friday morning and really loved the matcha iced latte so thought I'd come by again. I ordered the same exact drink I left and it tasted like straight milk. I called and was told to come back in for them to fix. I walk in and the employees were laughing at me for complaining about my $18 drink that tasted like milk. I was being respectful and was treated this way. Never again will I come here to be humiliated. I feel horrible worst customer service read more

Very clean and hygienic considering the pandemic. The staff is wonderful and friendly. They have the best energy to them. They seem like they genuinely enjoy their jobs which is amazing to see. Beautiful interior flooded with bright natural lights, friendly baristas, fast internet, plentiful of functional outlets, peaceful ambiance overruled the lack of parking and the slightly bland chai latte (which is also pre-sweetened, to my surprise when I got my drink). The only thing this place doesn't have is standing desks, which will probably mess up the existing aesthetics. I also don't recall there being huge table tops, so if you need to spread out your study material, this may not be the best place. Im a huge coffee drinker. An iced coffee has to be perfect for me to enjoy it. I got an iced hazelnut latte with almond milk and I literally think I saw God when I took the first sip. It was amazing. The people that work here were very nice, too. I highly recommend. read more

I absolutely love to try and support different local coffee shops in the Dallas area; however, after trying Merit Coffee, I would recommend just visiting a chain. I ordered a Mexican Vanilla Cold Brew - and all I could taste was the flavoring / sweetener. There was no kick in the coffee whatsoever, and I've never had that experience with a cold brew before. Guess I just paid $5+ for a bunch of sugar. There's also no restrooms available to customers. I'm assuming that this restriction was added because of COVID, but still found this to be rather odd and inconvenient for customers. They do have a variety of fresh selections from Taco Deli, which somewhat made up for the other shortfalls. For being on numerous top coffee shop lists in Dallas, I just don't see what the hype is about. read more

I enjoyed my time at Merit Coffee. The modern and minimalistic aesthetic allows for thoughts and sunlight to flow freely throughout the environment. My taste buds called for an iced matcha and double shot of espresso, both of which were served quickly and with a smile. Great service. Amazing lattes. Homemade Mexican vanilla flavoring. Ended up with a real nice cookie for my son as well and he destroyed it in seconds, so, it must have been good! This is a place to try out if you are in the area. It's also very hip and clean inside. We will be coming back to this place the next time we visit the area. Coffee: The coffee was great nothing crazy out of the ordinary but consistent and tasty for sure. Environment: Loved the vibe and working from there was peaceful. We are obsessed with quality. This is what drove us to start sourcing and roasting our coffee almost 7 years ago. Our team travels to Central/South America and Africa, finding the best quality coffee there is, and works directly with the farmers. The coffee gets shipped to Texas where its roasted on a 45 & 25kg Probat roaster, custom built for us in Germany. We take responsibility for the quality of coffee in your cup very seriously, as well as creating an environment where you can enjoy that coffee, get some work done, connect with friends, or even escape the busyness of life for a bit. Our cafes are focused on the local community and neighborhoods that they are in.With sourcing and roasting done, the responsibility then falls on our baristas shoulders to brew. We renovated an old warehouse in South San Antonio and opened Merit Roasting Co. Now we're traveling the world, building direct trade relationships and bringing back extraordinarily good beans to roast, grind, brew and sell. By personally sourcing beans from around the world, we take responsibility for the quality of the coffee in your cup.

Now to the food... They have a small but mighty menu for breakfast and lunch. For my first time I decided to try their The Monte Duro, which is a pastry style "hot pocket" with smoked prosciutto, mortadella, mustard and jam. For drink I decided to go with their Dirty Chai Latte. The drink was absolutely perfection and exactly what I needed in a warm Texas morning. During my recent visit to this coffee shop, I was disappointed with the service. Although I ordered $20 worth of drinks, I was only offered plastic to-go cups instead of coffee mugs. Apparently, the shop has a policy to only serve drinks in plastic cups 2 hours before closing. As someone who values the coffee experience, I was upset that I couldn't fully enjoy it due to the plastic cups. Coffee just doesn't taste the same in plastic. I hope the shop reconsiders this policy and allows customers to enjoy their drinks in coffee mugs until closing time. Despite this issue, I have always found the coffee to be of high quality, and while the service can be a bit reserved, it is decent overall.
