So good! I've been stopping in nearly every day during my Dallas visit for an iced berry cobbler matcha with oat milk. Delicious and not too sweet but just enough! Such a unique drink I haven't ever had anywhere else -- I'm going to miss it when I leave. Also tried a spiced maple latte one day and it didn't really taste different from a regular latte? It was busy so maybe they got my order mixed up but overall I do appreciate the balance of flavor. Really friendly staff and a good quiet workspace. After a rather long walk to the area in the heat, a nice cold drink was definitely in order. I asked for a cold brew, which truly hit the spot. Nicely brewed and combined with some half and half, a great way to cool off. The ambiance is pretty open, with plenty of seating options. Such a cute coffee shop in the middle of deep elm. No frills about it, just great coffee and tasty pastries. They also have about 4 or 5 different breakfast tacos on the menu. I got my go to, an iced americano. Nothing special about this drink in general but it was very good. I also got a homemade pop tart! The inner child in me was elated! Not only was it cute but very tasty. The flaky shell accompanied but the strawberry filling and pink icing on top made for a darn good pop tart! read more

The aesthetic and open concept make this place truly picture worthy. Upon walking in you are greeted by a fiddle leaf fog and the sweet smell of a dark roast. The establishment also has a coffee lab near the back and is set in a pretty popular location in Dallas's Deep Ellum. The price point is decent with a cold brew costing about 4 dollars. However, I wouldn't say that the coffee effected me like other cold brews usually affect me. When I sip on a cold brew I want the energy spike that leaves me awake until 2:00 AM ruminating on the mysteries of the universe, or replaying the senseless mistakes I've made through the day in my head. Ultimately, the cold brew here didn't do that for me, either because my caffeine tolerance has quickly plateaued, or the coffee wasn't as strong as I had hoped for. I am praying it is the latter, because the imminent caffeine withdrawals don't sound fun at this time in my life. Overall, I love the aesthetic of the place and the staff is very kind. BEAUTIFUL coffee shop addition to the Deep Ellum area. Yes, this is a part of a chain of other Merit coffees but does not take away from the quality of this coffee shop. Great aesthetic. Great coffee. Definite worth trying the food items. And it's dog friendly inside! That deserves some extra points! Some of my favorite include their drip coffee. I think their coffee alone is good. Plus refills on drip coffee. Their matcha is also good. There's a coffee lab area separate from the rest of the shop. I've heard they will have classes on roasting coffee and what not. On my last visit, however, a large group of 8 came in and they were able to drink their coffee in that space. Only reason for 4 stars is the amount of seating. There's other coffee shops in the area with more seating if you're looking to bunker down and get a lot of work done and needed a table or if you have a larger party. read more

A coffee shop I can walk to from home, yes please! A coffee shop that is good, friendly, and not pretentious, yes please! Came in for the first time on their fourth day being open and I was pleasantly surprised how good my latte was. It was perfectly tamped and pulled espresso that was not heavy on the vanilla syrup. I like just a dash of sweetness. I like to taste the espresso. All of the employees are extremely friendly and engaging. There are no pretentious vibes which I appreciate. There is a lot of inside and outside seating. The only negative I can see is the parking situation, it's Deep Ellum, you're gonna have to pay for it. Since I can walk or have ample bike parking (thanks Local Hub, I'm looking at y'all) =] it doesn't matter to me! Will definitely be "my spot" while I still live in Dallas. Cheers! read more

Decided to stop by while checking the area out. Coffee was good, I had the Chocolate Latte. They apparently hand craft their sauce. Not the biggest fan of chocolate in my latte but it was good, I'll probably try something else next time. Nice and clean on the inside and I live the set up. I recommend trying. I came to Merit coffee on a Saturday afternoon and really enjoyed my time. Pros: -The first thing I noticed about this place was how visually pleasing the inside of the shop is. The space is a bit small but they make use of it very well. A lot of natural light entering the shop made it feel vibrant -There was a lot of people coming in and out of the of shop and the energy of the place felt very good. This place feels like a cozy place to relax but also a great place to be productive and work. -Staff was very knowledgeable about their menu and they were very helpful with recommendations. -There's seats outside if you want to enjoy the weather and people watch while drinking your coffee. Cons: -Parking. Unfortunately the parking around Merit is awful. Finding parking is half the battle and then you'll most likely be paying for parking as well. Because it is located in Deep Ellum, this is to be expected. The headache because of the parking is the biggest negative thing to this place. (If anyone knows a good park spot please let me know!) -Space is a little small. I went on a weekend so there was lots of people so there was only a few open seats. I would imagine going on a weekday would be perfect. The Recommendation: Merit coffee has good coffee but even greater vibes. This place is great for chilling and sipping some coffee. If you happen to be exploring Deep Ellum then I would come here and check this place out. Unfortunately the parking can be so annoying that I wouldn't come here unless I was already in Deep Ellum. read more

Every once in a blue moon my ice cold brew with extra oat milk comes out right but for the most part it taste like the coffee I have a greyhound I try and try to let you guys make up for it but y'all just let me down do better. The coffee shop atmosphere is ADORABLE and the menu is regularly updated with fun seasonal drinks. I had the seasonal cereal milk cold brew, which was delicious and had a fun flavor without being overly sweet. First visit to a coffee shop in Deep Ellum yesterday and I'm a fan. I love the local coffee. The space is clean and very open. It wasn't too full on a Saturday afternoon. I always like to give you the pros and cons from my POV. Things I liked: *coffee shop that offers indoor seating during COVID-19 *local coffee *milk alternatives *friendly staff *great place to chat over coffee *average coffee prices Things I didn't like: *If you're familiar with parking in Dallas, then you know what I mean. It took me 30 minutes to find a parking space but this is normal in the downtown area. *it felt like the north pole even with my sweater on! *not the best place to study - music was kind of loud for a coffee shop *Bathroom had a keypad lock and it was annoying to keep opening the door this way especially if you're someone like me and has to empty their bladder every 5 minutes (it's completely understandable because there are no public restrooms in Deep Ellum). I was craving coffee since it was a bit cold outside on a Saturday night. I found this place and was within walking distance so I figured why not, it's local which I love so I have it a try! I got in, chairs were almost all up, keep in mind this is 7 pm and they close at 8! So there is still an hour. I went to order, barista didn't seem all that interested to be there. I wanted something warm since it was cold so I got the latte with lavender. It was alright, nothing like the pictures, with design or anything. I wanted to be in a glass and she said they don't serve that one hour before closing. Usually drinks taste different for me in a cup instead of glass so I prefer glass but that wasn't an option. The place didn't feel welcoming at all. I mean chairs were all up one hour before closing, they don't use mugs because they're closing in a hour. I mean just close early ‍. And it's pricy on top of that! I don't know if I would recommend it read more

My favorite coffee in the world. This place is that good. When I get coffee in NYC, Denver, Austin, etc., I mostly just end up missing Merit in Deep Ellum. The coffee, first of all, is hands down some of the best I've had. Get the pour over and pick any of them. Don't get cream or sugar. Soooooooo good. IDK anything about their espressos like mentioned in the other comments, but their pour overs are the best coffee I've EVER had. Their coffee is amazing EVERY TIME too. I go to a lot of coffee places that will have a good or great pour over sometimes, but I can never find a place that consistently blows me away like Merit. The people who work here are amazing. They're all so nice, super knowledgeable, very down-to-earth, and so cool. One of the guys here had a photoshoot with Phoebe Bridgers one night she had a concert in Deep Ellum. Who does that??? Amazing! I love the look of this place. The walls are clean, it's very open, I love the plants hanging from the ceiling... And the little coffee lab they have adds a lot.
