I've been going here since the beginning of 2019, when my pregnancy wreaked havoc on my skin. Ellie is very knowledgeable about how to manage skin going through a lot of hormone changes, as well as tailoring treatments to be pregnancy-safe. I got that pregnancy glow instead of a face full of breakouts after the first session but went every month to keep up with the rapid hormonal changes and to maintain that glow. I've kept it up through other big hormonal changes in my life since then--postpartum, breastfeeding, getting on birth control, getting off birth control--and also added eyebrow shaping and tint to what I get done. My poor brows got overplucked ONCE in high school and never recovered but after a year of regular monthly sessions, they are starting to fill in a little bit and look intentionally shaped.

Unfortunately, my experience with the front desk today was extremely disappointing. I scheduled an appointment last Friday for today at 10:30 AM. I arrived 10 minutes early, checked in, and waited. After some time, I was told by the receptionist that I did not have an appointment. I explained that I had called to schedule it and even showed my phone records as proof. Rather than trying to resolve the issue or look into what may have gone wrong, she repeatedly insisted that I did not have an appointment. When I suggested she check with the staff member who handled scheduling that day, she dismissively stated she didn't need to "have a conversation about something that never happened." At that point, the situation became less about the appointment and more about her approach. Her tone was condescending and unprofessional. When she said, "Anyways, so you were supposed to have an appointment at 10:30?" it felt dismissive and disrespectful--especially given that I was calmly trying to explain and provide proof. As a medical professional of 14 years, I understand that scheduling errors can happen. However, how those situations are handled is what matters. I would never speak to a patient this way, especially in a healthcare setting where empathy and professionalism should be the standard. Because of this interaction alone, I chose to leave and not proceed with the appointment. It's very unfortunate, bc I genuinely think highly of Dr. Danek, but this experience with the front desk staff is enough for me to not return again unless it's rectified.
