Says Summer 2017 still. Looks forgotten

*Update* You know what? I got to give them props. They saw I wasn't to happy about this location (here I go acting like the Queen) but seriously I did expect more. Anyway, they actually reached out to me and invited me in. I haven't set a date yet but I find that very respectable of them as a business. It shows that they take criticism and suggestions in the way it should be taken... to improve. So for customer service I'll give them an A (except for the sales person who is always gossiping or listening to his/her iPod. Don't want to call this person out as I don't want them to loose their job or something. Hey, I'd probably do the same since it's so dead in there haha). I really hope this store works well because it's so close to me. *Original* I love BlueMercury. It's my favorite place after Sephora to shop for beauty related items. I live on the same block from this location so when I found out it was opening at 4 E. Elms new building I was ecstatic. While construction was going on, I was looking for information about the opening date and if there were any opening events (I run a successful beauty website, so I wanted to see if I can cover the event for my blog) but couldn't find any info about the opening. All it said was Opening This Summer on the windows. Well, Summer came and left and the store was still not open. One day I was passing by and all of the sudden I saw this chalk board saying "we are open". That was super random. To me it seems that they did a rush opening because when I visited this location I was super disappointed. 1). The store isn't completely finished. The windows have this cheap looking "now open" sign that looks more like a Dollar Store sign than an upscale beauty store. 2). It's super cramped. The layout in there is horrible. I literally couldn't turn around without worry about knocking over an expensive candle with my purse. On top of that, there are too many employees. I can literally feel them breathing down my neck. It's such a small space for that many employees. It makes me not want to go there because I get anxiety just thinking about the employees asking me if I need help every 2 minutes and theres no escaping them. It's too small to browse peacefully while shopping. They literally are on top of you. Not because they are bad (they were all super nice) but because theres no room for them lol. 3). No special opening. With online shopping so prevalent now days, if I go into a store I go for the experience and fun. As I mentioned I run a heavily trafficked beauty blog and I always shop for cosmetics both as a hobby and job. I love everything from makeup to candles to hair care. So for me, going into a store is all about the experience. It's just not as fun to come here as it is to go to Sephora on Michigan Ave or another BlueMercury location. This was my first visit. I hate to give it such a low rating but it's just not up to par with the other locations. Hopefully it will improve. It was fully stocked with great products, clean, friendly staff and great location but thats it. Maybe when they put more focus on the store it will get better and than I can review it again. These are just my opinions and how I felt about this location.

I stopped by this morning and Kerry O was amazing. She was so kind, knowledgeable and understanding of what I was looking for as a gift for my boss. During these stressful times she knew what to put together and went out of her way to make sure it looked great. Thank you for your help, I hope some appreciation and recognition from your company comes your way. Thanks for the laughs too :-)

I've been with different stylists and they have all been great. Recently had a very great haircut with Emmie who was great about listening to my preferences. Maddy as well did a fantastic color/balayage for me that had grown out well even after a year. I've been to dermatologists, other laser spas, and Amy is the first person who is taking a holistic approach. She has been so amazing with her time, looking at all of the supplements I'm taking, asking about the food I'm eating, looking at all of the topicals the derm put me on and all of the other skincare products I was using. She has made recommendations on all of the above, including changes she thinks I need to make. I can tell it's all making a difference, and my skin feels so much better now that I'm using the products she has recommended and have gotten off the harsh topicals my derm prescribed that weren't working and were only making my skin itchy, dry, and still not cleared up. Bonus the products she has are clean and EU certified so I feel really good using them. My skin is feeling so much healthier. I've had one Aerolase Neo Elite laser treatment so far and it was a great experience. Amy really took her time working on my face, it was like night and day from the past laser experiences I had. Amy is so committed to helping me achieve my goals and clear my skin. For the first time I feel hope and I know it's because I have the help of the best skin guru in all of Chicago! If you are having troubles with your skin I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to Amy, she is the best!

She starts the experience before you even walk through the door by asking about your skin, your health background, allergies, etc... and really uses all of that information to tailor a facial that is right for you and your skin type. I've always had bad acne/flare ups that had left my face in a constant state of redness. Through a few sessions with Amy, I can tell she has repaired my skin and the redness is gradually fading away to reveal a really clear complexion. The price may seem high, but she spends several hours with her clients... don't even bother with going to one of the hotel spas, those are never results oriented. She follows up for days after the facial as well to really understand how your skin reacts and takes the treatments. Plus, she treats the decolletage area as well! Of course, she ends the experience with an amazing hand/shoulder/head massage. I can't say enough amazing things about Amy, but maybe one of the only facial specialists in the area that really knows what she is doing!

I had a really disappointing experience at Heavenly Massage. There was nothing "heavenly" about it…read more I booked what was advertised as a 90 minute massage, but the fine print shows it is actually closer to 80 minutes, with 10 minutes meant for changing. On top of that, my session started late, so the massage itself was only about 75 minutes. When I brought this up to the front desk, the response was dismissive. I was told "maybe the clock is broken," with no apology or effort to fix the situation. The overall experience felt unprofessional. The linens had a noticeable mildew smell, which made me uncomfortable right away. The massage itself was disorganized and at times painful in a concerning way, not therapeutic pressure but pressing directly on bones. I had booked a deep tissue massage, but no area was worked on long enough to actually release tension. It felt like random, surface level movements rather than intentional work, and it didn't provide any relief. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this did not meet basic expectations for professionalism or quality. I would not return or recommend.

You can find pretty much any equipment here -- punching bags, sleds, reformer machines, etc. There is a good mix of group fitness classes here included in the membership price. Equinox has a reputation for being fancy -- thus the high price of this gym. However, I don't think this *particular* location really warrants the high price. This location isn't as flashy and new as comparably-priced gyms (like the Lincoln Common Equinox or the Midtown Athletic Club). It also lacks the extensive amenities of a place like East Bank Club (which has tennis courts, kayaking, basketball, etc). A membership at this location will give you access to some of Equinox's newer, fancier facilities (like Lincoln Common) as well as some of its convenient locations for office workers (Loop branch). There is a clock in the room and my massage therapist came in five minutes after the hour and left 10 minutes before the hour. This is really a 45 minute massage advertised as a 1 hour massage. I did not like the vibe here. It had a dated feel. There were no other customers here. Surprising for such a large space. My therapist was kinda snarky. The worst part was SHE WORE GLOVES. Not only did it not make the massage feel as good but I could hear the sound of the gloves when she massaged me. The room also had weird music that was hard to hear because of the loud blower in the room. The pillow used to put under my legs was severely worn and the sheets and blanket were old too. When I flipped over she said the dimmer on the lights wasn't working so she put a piece of light colored cloth over my eyes that kept falling off. After the massage she said I would of been better off with a 90 minute. I don't think so. 45 minutes was more than enough. I thought about ending the massage at the beginning but decided to just go with it. When I checked out to pay their credit card machine wasn't working so she had to punch the number in manually.
