Merlin came in clutch (literally!). My husband's manual car was having some issues slipping when trying to shift gears and then his transmission light came on - I was worried the clutch was burnt out, and sure enough when Merlin called to let us know that was the issue, they were genuinely sympathetic about it, because that's such a costly repair. Upon further inspection, the fly wheel was also beyond saving ( see attached pictures from Merlin). I was so stressed out, but they worked with us to find a way to pay off the amount of work, and I am beyond relieved! But, it gets worse, the part was out of stock everywhere. So after about 5 days, when they finally got the part, they stayed after hours to finish it up so we could pick it up the very same evening. Special shout out to Patrick and Steve whom we worked with, and Steve for offering me tissues! My husband drove the car home and said it feels like a completely different vehicle (in a good way) I would definitely recommend Merlin's for honest and timely work. I go to Merlin's because I need a patch and they tell me it will be $35. I tell them fine because I really needed it (psi low). I'm not even there 2 mins before they tell me they can't patch because the psi is too low and out is unsafe for them. They then proceed to give me an estimate of $1300 for a whole new set of tires that I didn't ask for. I immediately reject their estimate and ask them to bring my Jeep back. I spend $9 on the kit and it's done in like 15min and good as new. I feel like it was completely unprofessional to attempt to upsell me for something so simple. Especially after trying to charge me $35 for a patch. read more

This place used to do great work..now recently I had a water pump replaced,then had to refill my coolant (jeep over heated ) 3 times :had someone look at it the other day and they had not attached my coolant lines correctly .. Also took my jeep there because hitting bumps was throwing my jeep off and almost making me hit cars and wall..this location told me all their guys looked at it and couldn't find anything wrong..I took it to their Wheaton location and in 20 mins they told me my back shock was broken and pouring out fluid and said they don't get how anyone could have missed it.. sad I've spent sooo much between my car,my wife's and then my wife's family has also spent a lot there over the years.this place is pretty worthless now read more

Fantastic experience. Took my Yukon in for a constant rattle in my exhaust. Moe put it up on the lift and found it almost instantly. So they cut it out and welded a new piece in. While they did that they also check EVERYTHING. oil, radiator, lights, alignment. Everyone working together and getting the job done. I stood around for a while and watched everyone working and was Very impressed. I will be taking an all my vehicles to these guys. Josh the owner was there as well, great guy. I came here to have my car serviced. They did a great job and I have no complaints. I did have a bit of a wait for the work to be completed, however, I believe that is to be expected due to what they had to do I suppose. :-) All in all, the staff was friendly, and they fixed the issue that I was experiencing with my car! :-) I plan on going back to have some additional auto work completed. read more

I brought my 2017 Ford Mustang into your business for an oil change back in August. The technician that I paid did not put my information into the system and there for there is no paper trail on my vehicle. Merlins in Batavia was the last mechanic to touch my vehicle and two days ago my oil filter fell off my vehicle and all the oil spilled out of my car and the engine seized up. The dealership I took it to told me to call Merlins. I spoke to Moe who is the manager/owner and he was very rude and unhelpful. My lawyer is now in contact with them and this should be handled legally. This is the worst auto mechanic shop I have ever dealt with and I have worked in the auto industry for over 6 years. The service and the way I was spoken to (probably because I was a women) was very unprofessional and degrading. If you are looking for car services DO NOT go there. Especially if you are a women, because they will be sexist and rude to you and will not help you if you are looking for help. read more

I took my Jeep in there to get diagnosed in December 2020 because my ABS light was on and the driving was rough ..after about a hour or two I got the report that I needed a new axle on both sides ,my power steering was bad and wheel bearings were dead coming up to the total of $2000 ..luckily I wasn't a dumb ass! I took it to another place they told me the only thing wrong was my wheel bearings were dead all the other stuff was NOT true..I paid . $500 and went away from the place smiling and everything is still running fine. Great experience at this location! Came in mid day for an oil change without an appointment. Was done within 30 min with tire rotation and engine diagnostics. Ariana was very helpful in explaining the service and diagnostics results. The price was very fair too! Will be taking my car back here for sure! I don't know much about cars but I know when I am being taken advantage of which has happened at many other places like this. I LOVE this place! I get my oil changed with them & bought my tires from them, which have a lifetime warranty. I had one tire that I got a flat on & ended up ruining. They replaced it, no charge. LOVE THIS PLACE! They always tell me when I need to change belts, brakes and what I'll may want to change/fix on my next oil change. Is there such a thing as an honest mechanic or garage? These guys have never steered me wrong. I've been going to them since I bought my car in 2004. My car couldn't be in better hands. If I call them up & tell them my car did something funny, they don't immediately tell me to come in. They'll explain why it could have happened and if it happens again I may want to consider bringing it in. Did I already say I love this place? :) read more

I had my son's truck in for rear brakes along with a few other things. I drove the truck home (5 miles) and immediately smelled the brakes burning. Dropped it back off and was informed that the caliper needed to be replaced. Bottom line....they never test drove the truck after the initial work was done. Went in to pick it up and I told Kevin (Manager) I was very dissatisfied and would be leaving a negative review. He informed me that if I did, he would be responding by leaving a negative review on my local business! HE'S NOT A CUSTOMER OF MINE!!! My family and both of my businesses have been taking our vehicles here for over 20 years. The new management is horrific!!! Who threatens to berate a customer's unrelated business? I seem to write a disproportionate number of reviews for car places compared to food. I should get out more. This review covers the last six years that I have been going to this Merlin. I went in with an old Jeep Cherokee at 180k+ (this was before the chain started the 200,000 mile marketing campaign); while I thought at first that it was just going to be another chain shop it had much more of a local garage feel. For a few years keeping the Jeep running felt like a shared project -- they are great at thoroughly checking things, straightforward about what you need or don't need, and do great work on the things that their shop can handle (and helped me find the right shops for the jobs that they could not do). I got my Jeep up to 260k before I had to move on, and have taken two other vehicles there. I have moved a few towns over but continue to use this shop for all of my routine maintenance. read more

Merlins replaced all 4 tires and changed oil, and informed me that I did NOT need brake work (as I thought). The service was as scheduled and I am happy with the result. Importantly, the business had persons that actually answered phone calls, and had persons at the service counter. This seems basic, but was not the case at Walmart, nor at Pep Boys. read more

Let me say, the staff and mechanics here are absolutely amazing. I have been bringing my car here with any issues or concerns and always have a quick answer and a reliable fix every single time. Ariana and Frank are always there, and they are probably the nicest people. Doc and Chris have always done the best quality work on my car. This is the only place I feel comfortable with, and that I'm not getting ripped off. Most people are having a bad day if they have car problems, but at least I know I'm being taken care of with them! I'm under the impression this location is under new management. In January I was here to fix a headlight that was out, I paid something around 30$. Today I went in for an oil change and another headlight out, and I was told the headlight would be 125$ for a the labor? I asked Frank if he wouldn't mind telling me again what I paid in January for the same service (and of course he pulled the records for me with a smile, even though they were pretty busy!). This new manager came out and explained his policy and that he had inventory missing when he took over. I totally understand what he's saying, but I wasn't charged that much earlier this year and it didn't take them an hour to do it in January, so I'm left wondering what exactly the labor was that they wanted to charge me. I left feeling disappointed with this location, for the first time in 3 years. I called another Merlin location and they quoted me roughly 30$ and got it done there. I wish I could give 5+ stars to the rest of the staff, and I wish I could have that same comforting feeling about this place.. read more

I had a lot of concerns coming in, since I had just driven so far during my move, but they were able to put my mind (and my wallet) at peace. I have gone to this location several times and I have had bad service. I have had to return several times to get proper service. The employees are friendly so I decided to give them another chance so I recently took my daughters vehicle there. Again I had to go back so far a second time due to poor service. All I got was excuses and apologies which doesn't help when I had to take time out of my day for them to correct their mistakes. This is the best shop I've ever taken a car to, their service is superb. I drive old cars that have needed lots of service so I have been to a lot of places that pale in comparison on every level. I got an oil change a week ago in my 2000 Chevy that has 160k+ miles on it and the service was fast and friendly, plus they were running a special so the price was right. They have toys in the clean, comfy waiting room that my toddler enjoyed, plus an outside play area for kids with a slide, playhouse and sand box. They even gave him a little toy car to take home. Then a week later a light comes on my dash saying "low coolant", on the hottest day this year. I call them, they get me right in and less than 30 minutes later they have replaced a broken radiator hose and filled up my coolant, with no charge. These guys are the greatest! Great place. Wonderful service. Speedier than I thought!! I went in to get an oil change, and showed up a bit early. I left my keys with them and walked to a nearby coffeeshop. I happened to bump into an acquaintance of mine, so I sat down and began to talk. Within minutes of sitting down I received a phonecall (which I missed...) so I called back, thinking there must be a problem. Nope. My car was done, all the people working there were very friendly, I paid and they thanked me very genuinely for stopping in. i brought in my pick up for an oil change. While i was waiting i hear a loud bang as I run out to see what happened I almost got ran over with my own pick up. It turns out that particular lift couldn't support the weight of my f 150. As a result of this i was almost ran over as they tried to put the vehicle on a lift that could support it. Its been 4 days and i haven't even got a phone call from the owner. The manager refuses to give me their insurance info. STAY AWAY IF THEY DAMAGE THEY WILL NOT PAY. I brought my car in for an oil change and Merlins did their normal checking of the car. $2300 of repairs were found. I took my car to a local mechanic for a second opinion and the repairs needed were verified. The difference was the price was $800 while Merlins price with a 20% discount was $2300. We decided to go for that second opinion after we brought our car to the same location last year when it was having problems starting. The representative told us it needed a new alternator. Merlins jump started the car so we get it home and donate it. We stopped at a gas station on the way home on Route 31 and talked about the problem with a mechanic there. It turned out all we needed a battery ($79) instead of a new alternator ($531). That car starts every morning for work and at the end of the day. You don't always get what you pay for/ read more
