They have a large variety of fish and all the things you need to get an aquarium started. Chris was super knowledgeable and gave all the instructions on what we would need to do to take care of the new puffer fish that we bought. They welcomed us back to have the water quality checked after a few days from set up. They gave instructions on what temp the tank should be and what and how often to feed the fish. This is a great family owned shop and I'm so happy to have gotten my little ones from them!

This was the fourth fish store that I've visited; it's always an interesting encounter having the store work with a novice. The store is dark with neon lights upon walking in. It was quiet, empty besides one person, and slightly intimidating. I ended up walking away with 3 shubunkin goldfish. I originally came in for one, but he chuckled and explained that they had a deal on goldfish. He had so much patience and understanding. He let me pick out my fish (but to the naked eye, I'm sure they all look the same). I took my time picking out the ones with the best physical traits. He was the fishing ninja! He scooped them up swiftly and quickly! He walked me around the store and showed me snails and other goldfish he had, before ringing me up. He explained me the tank process and the benefits of snails. He explained to me the different filters and what was the most suitable for my tank. He also asked how I acclimate my fish, then explained the proper way to do so. Honestly, I needed more support and explanations than the average customer, and I was a bit taken aback by the guy in the store. I realized that it's just completely his demeanor, and he wasn't trying to be unhelpful. If you're willing to care for his fish, he will explain and help you! I told him I'd be back for some more snails. My picture is my fish about 6 weeks later. :)

Fontana Tropical Pets charges $29.99. No BS! It's a fact that this is the cheapest place! Customer Service: Hope and his Friend Al are great guys. They are always helpful, Always smiling, Always have time to give advice and ideas. I have never felt rushed or bothered in anyway. They greet my 6 year old and give him love and attention. Hope helps teach my Son a bit of Mandarin every time we come in. Al plays great music and also has plenty of fish wisdom. I refuse to go anywhere else. Fish: I recently bought about 17 fish (Cichlids/Plecostmus/Silver Dollars) for my 45 Gallon Upright Octagon tank. I also bought about 25 assorted community fish for my Son's 45 Gallon Standard tank. No fish died. I'll say that again, No fish died! When I was younger and frequenting this location my fish did not die either. Hope knows his stuff. I read other reviews stating that there are tons of dead fish. This is not true. They have to be bad customers. Every single fish place will have a few dead fish here and there. There is no getting around that. That is part of the business. Fish get stressed and often sick being transported from here to there. Hope sells healthy fish. Period! Cleanliness: Is this place filthy? No. Is it immaculate? No. Remember, this place has been here for over 20 years. The building is old. He has accumulated a lot of stuff. My first recent try was to go the traditional route - heater, filter, bottles of water conditioner & beneficial bacteria, etc. etc. - when I unexpectedly happened upon an eye-opening You-Tube vid about the Walstad method (less homework & a more natural environment, the way God intended). So I returned all that other gear & am starting from scratch. Fernando eased My initial anxiety arriving as a total tank newbie, and gave Me a tour of the various low-maintenance plants I could start My nitrogen cycling with. Nolan - the Captain of this aquarium supplies ship - answered every one of My questions with patience & grace, did not talk down to Me or make Me feel stupid, and I left feeling happily hopeful that I might actually be successful in creating a fish-friendly safe & healthy environment.
