I have bought amano shrimp, celestial Pearl danios, nerite snails, and fancy guppies from the store over the past month. First time making an aquarium and these small fish have so far Ben driving in my aquarium with great water parameters. I will update if anything changes but so far the fish seem in good health. Also, I was impressed with the store. With the amount of fish selection and supplies that they have, I'm sure it is hard to upkeep, but it still seems cleaner than other local fish stores I've gone to. Update: two of my 6 fish I've bought galaxy rasboras seem to have gotten sick. One of the sick ones died. I called and they don't give warranty for fish. read more

Went the other day with my boyfriend and they had a great selection of plants and shrimp. There were two nice ladies that helped me and they were very knowledgeable about starter plants! If I could give negative stars I would!!!! I used to purchase discus from these people and have spent thousands on them here! I haven't been here for a while but I just went inside and let me tell you that ALL the discus were HORRIBLY SICK! CLAMPED FINS, FIN ROT, CLOUD EYE, BACTERIAL INFECTIONS!!! and they want top dollar! I tell the guy man these fish are sick and dying and his reply is... "I SELL THEM ALL DAY" of course you do, to people who are inexperienced and don't know what they are getting into with discus, or to people who want to save their lives! This place needs shut down! This place is located in a small shopping center rite across from the Best Buy parking structure. The customer service here is always friendly and they are very knowledgeable. I always enjoy coming here and bringing the kids to see what new inventory they got and it's always a blast looking at the different types of fish they have. Prices aren't too bad either. read more

I would not call this place "Amazing" as another customer put it! My experience turned out to be very disappointing! I purchased about $90 worth of fresh water fish. Only a month in a half in, one of the fish die. All the other fish are thriving including another fish that is the same species of the fish that died. I call to ask if they were able to offer any compensation for the dead fish, and I was told they would not! Even if you offered me another fish of equal value, that would have said something about how your business operates! Instead, you offered nothing, and therefore you no longer deserve my business! read more

We've gotten all our fishes from this place and quite frankly the customer service is great. Not to mention the helpfulness when you have questions over the phone regarding anything. You can also bring a sample of your aquarium water (salt/fresh) to get tested for $10. Nice service to have on hand if you want to ensure your tank is where it should be. read more

I can't say enough good things about this amazing store! It's a true mom-and-pop shop, which makes the experience so much better than the big chain stores. We drive all the way from Los Angeles to San Bernardino just to come here because John and his staff are always so kind, friendly, and genuinely helpful. Being a long time customer at this location though they've had mixed reviews, I relied on them for equipment, frozen food, and other products. Yesterday, 10/1/25 I went to buy a container of Purigen made by Seachem. I've never used this before but product label recommended their micro mesh bag, named The Bag for purigen's ultra fine sized granules. One of the guys who I liked in the past helped me find the media bags they had. They stock other Seachem bags but not "The Bag". He told me the smaller mesh this particular bag they had would work. When I got home, I put some of the Purigen in the 2 bags he sold me, one to go into my 29 gallon and 100 gallon. Rinsed out the product as instructed, and all seemed to be ok. But when placing the bag into my HOB filter, my 29 gallon tank became a 29 gallon snow globe. Purigen particulars were all over the plants, rocks, and driftwood. I panicked a bit thinking the fish were going to attack this stuff as if it was food. I got most of it out of my live plants and let the filtration clean up some of the debris but had to take all hardscape out and rinse it off. Thankfully I didn't place a bag into the 100 gallon after this fiasco. I ordered the recommended bags off of Amazon that evening. Today, 10/2/25 I returned with receipt in-hand the 2 mesh bags and their packages. The guy who sold me the bags wasn't there but his brother was. I explained to him what had happened. He tried telling me the only difference with the bags I purchased and the recommended ones were the same micro mesh...but the ones purchased there has zippered tops. If you placed these two items next to one another you could clearly see their bags had wider openings in the mesh. I told him I bought the bags in good faith because his brother said they'd do the job. He argued with me he couldn't refund the purchase because they've been opened. I suggested to him if they are selling a particular product that even the label suggested a different mesh was needed, they ought to have those in stock as well. I said I was only trying to help him. He got upset and said, "You're not helping!" and walked away. The girl behind the counter refunded my card and off I went NEVER to buy anything from this place ever again!! Whatever happened to the days of the customer is always right?? Why was my suggestion quickly shot down and the manner in which it was?! Ciao' Pet World!! This place should be shut down, the people here have no idea how to care for the animals they have, using windex to clean the outside of open top salt water tanks, piling snails and crabs on top of dead shells to the pointbl the tank was half full, tangs in hamster balls on the bottom of huge system so "we can remove it easier when it sells" then seeing the guy who just vacuumed our the salt fish section sheel out a large gray bin filled with water and just dump it in the parking lot in front of the store, so it can flow right to a rain gutter so that any invasive algea or parasite can spread on our cost, worst shop I have ever seen. read more

FISH CAME WITH ICH AND KILLED ALL FISH in my 7 year old tank within a month. I called the store seeking advice but the man I spoke to was very unprofessional and stubborn. He was completely unwilling to help us figure out treatment options. Rather, he repeatedly told us that the store did not have ICH and that we got the parasite from somewhere else. These fish were the only addition to the tank we made in the last year. My tank had been going strong for 7 years until we added this stores fish. I bought about 100 dollars worth of fresh water tropical fish and introduced them into my tank in early March. Below is a picture of one of the fish I purchased with a clear sign of ICH on the day we added them to the tank. (white spots on back). I had never had an issue with ICH, and I did not know the warning signs so I began treatment once symptoms started to show which unfortunately was far too late. At this point, all the fish were covered in these small white dots where the parasites reside. Several days after that all the fish succumbed to the parasites. BE CAREFUL BUYING FISH HERE. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! first of all the store is a nice place. They have a big variety, but the problem is their fish have parasites unless you want heartbreak do not buy from pet world. I had purchased two clown fish, and a blenny The both clown fish died within days the blenny slowly died, passed away within a week. both types of fish having different parasites these fish were the only fish In my tank all from pet world Now I must wait to buy more fish until I'm 100% the parasites are all dead so if you buy a fish from pet world, you will regret it also, they have a no return policy, so don't waste your money. Also have gotten extremely rare fish from them for rock bottom prices. Sometimes simply being mislabeled but that's from the shipper. Also sign up for the rewards program. The store comes with its pros & cons. Just be aware of the return policy and know that you'll spend more than what you thought. Pros: - Great, knowledgeable, friendly staff - Variety of fishes & supplies - Will work with you with situations Cons: - Multiple fish tanks have dead fishes, icks, and unhealthy ones mixed with healthy ones. - No acknowledgment about "No return" policy when purchasing. Only a sign on the wall behind the cashier. - Prices of fishes do not match with fishes in the tank. - When buying a fish and it dies few days later after purchasing, no money back or new fish. The situation that occurred with me was that I bought 2 of their goldfishes on a Sunday. The price that was on the tank where they were was $19.99 but they charged me around $60 coming out to $130. I thought if they are at that price they will be healthy and good fish. On Thursday, 4 days later, one of the goldfishes died and the other one was very aggressive toward the others. Before the goldfish died it started swimming on the surface of the tank looking unhealthy. I went the day before to ask what to do and they told me that they can test the water for $10 and go from there. I returned telling them the situation of the dead fish, bring in a bit of water from my tank. The levels were high and they recommended me that I get a few supplies to lower the levels. I bought 2 things coming out to $37 without any discount. Even though it was mainly their fault that the tank got infected. Then a few days later their goldfish started attacking my original goldfish leaving its fins bleeding. They did tell me that I could switch him out for another one and will get a discount. Meaning that they were going to charge me for him. I did switched him out and they didn't charge me for it. When I asked about the other goldfish that passed away, what would happen? He told me that he didn't charge for the test and that let's wait to see what happens with this new one and then he'll help me pick out another one. At the end of the day, I paid $167.43 for a soon to die fish, an aggressive one, infected tank, and a damaged fish. But in return, I got 2 free water test = $10, a trade of an aggressive fish, and knowledge of what to do if the tank gets infected. There's still no guarantee if they will replace the dead fish but will see. I guess. read more

Beware of their return policy or lack of. I purchased a tiger oscar cichlid and even at the store, it showed signs of ick and hole in the head disease. I was confident I could nurse it back to health with medication, but it was far too weak already and passed away unfortunately. I assumed they would have some sort or return or exchange policy, but they do not. This lack of warranty is indicative of their overall poor water quality and disease ridden tanks. I understand why aquarists prefer big name stores like Petco and PetSmart now. I would not recommend this store. read more

You can't find a better trop fish store in Southern California. The boys do a great job of doing there hardest to make us happy and comfortable in starting a new hobby. They even sell RO water. Visit the store today to add fish for my cycle tank but after strolling around I decide not to get any. A lot of dead fish was noticed in the tank. Sick and dead fish were mixed with healthy one. I would risk buying even a healthy one and risk it having disease. Couple of tank was overly stock I understand it's just temporary and not permanent home but u can clearly see almost all the fish got fin tears from nipping and fighting. I was standing in front of I think 15 gallons size tank with 15+ baby Pacu size about 6 inches and they were constantly fighting and nipping each other fins. Not at one point I see them stop while I was there. I also noticed a couple of sicks betta and one giant betta in a flower vase. The fish is literally the size of the vase. I wish I took some pictures for proof but it just make me feel sick seeing all those poor fish in there. Prices wise are on a higher side. Honest review. They have great selections of livestock. The place is really nice and some of their setup just put me in awe. They are very knowledgable. But, the only thing is everything is overpriced if you are a beginner, i would recommend to go somewhere else. I don't mind that it is overpriced but the thing is they intentionally not put the price on some corals/fish and when you ask how much is this or that, they will just put a random price on it. One time i called about if they have a Melanurus wrasse they said they have it, i asked how much is it and they told me the price. Once i get to the place hours later, the price of the fish is $10 more. i mean i get it they're trying to make money but ya know, you gotta be honest to your customers. read more

I love this place! Bought 2 cichlids here couple months ago and they are thriving! The customer service here is ALWAYS 10/10. They have a good amount of freshwater & saltwater fish here. It's honestly the best place if your starting off with a tank. Great service and selection but fish don't live long. I had all my neon tetras and half of my tummy nose tetras die within 1-2 days despite having great water parameters. What is worse is that they don't have warranty for the fish that they sell when other stores like Elliot's pet emporium and petco have warranty for their fish. I understand that there should be a limit to the number of fish each customer is able to get refunded, but this was my first time to return some dead fish (which was less than half of what died). I didn't even return all of them because I know that small business struggle as well. But it is really frustrating. read more
