Food is worth the price, excellent options for anybody even the pickiest of eaters. You serve yourself for the most part, but they do assist with payment and will come by your table to see if you need any assistance. Excessively overcrowded on a Sunday night at very moderate price for buffet meal where a family of four's hunger pangs can be fulfilled without question which included unlimited soda. Money bears a great impact on lifestyle played into everyday life as the ailing economy affects dinning out, but Merry Land enables all mouths to be happily feed. Quality of food is ICK as it caters to the American palette and not authentic Chinese, do not expect Chinatown Manhattan food quality or style. They offer the standard Chinese American entrees: chicken with broccoli, sweet and sour pork, spring rolls, Lo Mein, white rice. With a friend who was not himself, after we sat for ten minutes we immediately left without finishing our meal. In hopes of doggie bag our meal, Merry Land staff coldly stated that it costs $5.50 per takeout when unfinished amid paying $16.50 upfront before attaining a table. Why?? Staff are money grubbers. Customer service is nonexistent without any welcome greeting or smile. ICK! Merry Land takeout menu readily are available as substitute for business cards. Atmospheric conditions are very dingy and dilapidated where seating is tightly packed as patrons are bumping elbow to elbow. Family oriented setting where children are running amok in a Chinese version of a shoddy McDonald's. Facilities are disgusting as it equate to a dive bar for the walls are scrawled with graffiti writing of permanent marker. Typical chinese food items available on the buffet - different rices, general tso's, chicken and brocolli, beef and peppers, etc., but they also have some soul-food-type items such as wings and plantains. Came here a good amount when I was younger, glad the place is still open even after COVID. They did close for a bit to renovate but was open once it was over. Really love the food there and the price is pretty hard to beat. Definitely recommend going at least once to try it out, service is also pretty good, to sit down in a table does take a bit long but it's just that popular. read more

Ok this place is super cheap ($8.50 all you can eat including dinner or $3.75-$5.75 takeout) okay its a good value. There is a suprisingly wide variety of typical Chinese buffet options here including lo mein, general tsos chicken, chicken and broccoli, shrimp etc. and some off beat choices including mac and cheese and lasanga. Don't expect the generic buffet ice cream machine here but they do have fresh melons, oranges and Chinese donuts. The food is super salty and greasy (MSG?...) but hey you get what you paid for- if I in this neighborhood with a bunch of my friends I would probably but the bullet and come back here honestly. read more

Cheap local buffet. Very rude staff but the food is decent. It's almost like they think it's acceptable to be rude because all of the staff is. However considering the area and some of the crowd that comes in here to eat, I don't blame them for being on the defense 24/7. Kinda dingy looking restaurant serving eat-all-you-can Chinese-America buffet, you can also order dishes too. Staff are not that friendly and the food is so-so. They put up notices saying maximum you can sit there and eat is 2 hours, how lame is that. This place was very cheap and the food was delicious, they kept refilling the trays as soon as the food started getting low, the only downside is the space, it's quite small in there and I don't really like the women's restroom the floor was wet the toilet paper was exposed so wet hands kept touching it. Well I didn't like the waitress asking me to pay before I even removed my coat or sat down lol. But after I gave a tip along with my payment they became very nice . You get what you pay for here, all the food was good but not much selection . No soup , the smallest selection of deserts I have ever seen . Mind you I didn't try everything but I didn't like the fried chicken . I loved the fried rice , and the Mac n cheese was great. All an all it was the smallest buffet I have ever seen . I went here a decade ago. Awful. And then a second time. Awful. But last weekend, after all day in public library, I was hungry and $4 for all you can eat seemed reasonable. No positive expectations. The first shocker: buffet is REALLY $9.25 including tax. Considered walking out until I saw the VERYVERY VERY long buffet table with the FRESHEST FOOD I've seen in any restaurant, much less $9.25 for all you can eat. FRESH vegetables (string beans so fresh, you'd swear they just picked them off the vine and quick steamed them; FRESH salads: vegetable and fruit, and crabmeat and macroni; FRESHLY fried chicken, fish; scampi prawns, Chinese dishes with FRESH vegetables, so fresh, their crispness snaps joyfully in your mouth; Chinese specialties that I have not had since I was a kid in Hawaii DECADES ago --and as delicious as I remember (with anise stars and other herbs), spring rolls other fried appetizets as hot and crispy as those that come out in regular restaurants. And now I reluctantly tell you this because I know there will be long lines now: Manilla CLAMS and CRABS. One customer happily loaded an entire plate (generous size, not tiny as people write). I only took three, only because there was SO MUCH other appealing stuff to try. This price includes dessert: pudding, jello, fresh and canned fruit, a zepole-like donut, and cake...AND ICE CREAM. All to make you stay away. Take the hint. There was no wait the Saturday I went, but ALL the tables were full. Faces wore smiles like they were at some Hawaiian luau: so happy. BTW: they kept bringing out more and more food. NOTHING was stale, overcooked, stoked on the heat to dryness. Nothing was flavorless. This spot is fun sometimes in it's ghetto environment it fall short to anything special but being the cheapest Chinese food place in the city. It's not the cleanest place but what place in NYC is. What make me come back is the price and it's unlimited vanilla pudding they have sometimes. This is definitely a fun place for a group on a budget. These Chinese people are in tune with their hood side and always play the typical old school music from the MJ times and genre.
