    Butta
    Amanda G.

Well, now that I know about that Butta, we will make the drive if it's feasible. The "pink drink" is crazy strong and worth the possibility of getting a parking ticket (well, maybe not a Manhattan ticket, but you get the drift). Aside from that drink however, I can not in good conscience, suggest their food. We ordered some food to pick up for dinner and none of it was good. The prices are crazy and everything was bland, greasy and tasted old. We had fried rice, lol mein and fried chicken pieces. None of it was good. Their vegetables are expensive also, and equally bad. We didn't even end up eating the food. Most of it went in the trash. It was so disappointing. We'll always come back for the drinks (cash only) but I don't think I'll be eating any food from this place, ever in life again.

garlic shrimp (8 pieces of shrimp in a tin bowl of oil w/ garlic) - it was ok

My husband ate here many years ago when the previous owner was still there. He raved about how delicious the chinese-spanish foods were. We came here over the weekend & tried a few of their items: 1) garlic shrimp w/ yellow rice, 2) stewed beef w/ tostones. Garlic shrimp w/ yellow rice - There was 8 pieces of shrimp in a tin bowl of oil & garlic. The shrimp was a little overcooked but still juicy, but super oily w/ some garlic taste. The yellow rice was a bit on the soggy side. It tasted more chinese than spanish. I wouldn't reorder this if I came back. Stewed beef w/ tostones - the stewed beef was tender but seasoned ok. The potatoes & carrots in the stewed beef were the star of the dish, which is sad. The potatoes and carrots sucked up all the seasoning and juice that it was very delicious. The tostones was also on the soggy side (not crunchy) and the garlic oil dip was ok (not flavorful). This dish also tasted more chinese than spanish. I also would not reorder this if I came back. Overall, we were both disappointed in the foods. The quality was lacking & also the portion was small for the price. I know.. inflation sucks. Staff was very nice & attentive. There was one person who spoke Spanish well. Comfy booths for dining in.

For native NYers this is simply the BUTTA Spot! No other name or description needed. Don't believe me, you can now Google "butta spot" and see what comes up. For those of us that "grew" here this is where you came back in the day for a great drink. Before nutcrackers were a thing and most definitely before Covid and drinks to-go were ever consider a legal option. One of those old-school spots that just hits. Nothing fancy, simple and clean... just good food and fast to the point service and the Butta drinks are always on point. This place just brings back such nostalgia. Now I must admit what is far from nostalgic is the "2025" Butta prices. After many years the prices were a shock upon my recent return. I remember when you could get a Butta for.... Nevermind I was about to date myself. LOL. Besides the Butta the wings are also still a must for me. Since I came mainly for the butta, I only grabbed wings. Of course even the food prices have seen an increase. Our server was funny and friendly, matching the restaurant's simple laid-back vibe. Just one of those places you have to return to because it brings back that touch of nostalgia that is sometimes needed with the passing of time. Just A Note: -They do offer some lunch specials before 3pm. -The drinks are a smidge... just a smidge cheaper if you dine in.

House fried rice, plantains and salad

We came in for a late lunch and luckily it was not very crowded. They have some good lunch specials that you can order until 3pm. I went with the house special fried rice with sweet plantains and salad. My friend ordered tostones for the table. The tostones were a bit on the dry side but they did come with a nice garlic sauce on the side. I liked the fried rice, it had a combination of chicken, pork, shrimp and was flavorful. The sweet plantains were delicious and so was the broccoli. The salad was just iceberg lettuce and tomatoes. The bathrooms are located downstairs which is something to consider if you have mobility issues. The service was attentive and friendly. We were a group of 6 and everyone seem to enjoy their food. The prices are reasonable considering the area and the portions were good. We enjoyed our lunch and would come back to try out more of the menu.

I finally made it to the hyped-up restaurant, and here's my take. If you drink their "Buttah" drink all the way to the end, they could serve you noodles with ketchup, and it would still feel Michelin-star-worthy. That drink should honestly be called Hercules because it's strong and potent. There's a lady behind the counter secretly adding who-knows-what, but she was definitely pouring a lot of liquor, some sour orange, and mixing in pineapple and coconut. The inside of the restaurant has a classic diner vibe; nothing fancy, but it works. My server, Daniel, was nice. Service wasn't over the top, but he was generally pleasant. My phone was almost died, so I couldn't take as many photos of the food as I wanted, but the person behind the counter even helped me charge it, which was a nice touch. Onto the food: The Cracklin' Chicken had great texture and a nice cut of meat, but it was a bit bland. I had to add BBQ sauce, black pepper, hot sauce, and some lemon from my salad to bring it to life. The Chicken Lo Mein was good but not worth the nearly $19 price tag. I do think the place is overpriced for what you get. Now, about the Buttah drink is definitely the highlight. It was the most expensive thing I ordered, and while I didn't finish it, I still have some in the fridge. I got the small, and even that was strong enough to feel like a champion if you finish it. So, yes, I'd come back just for the drink. But everything else was underwhelming for the price. If it wasn't as expensive, I'd probably return more often. Overall: Worth a visit for the drink, but the food doesn't quite live up to the hype, especially for the price. I also want to add many were ordering seafood; crabs, lobster and shrimp which I can't have. Maybe their seafood is food? Or maybe after one of their drinks it's ahhhmazing (since everyone had a buttah)

La Nueva Victoria is one of those old-school spots that just hits. Nothing fancy--just great food and fast service. The Butta drinks are always on point. My friend tried the Blue Hawaiian for the first time and really liked it. He also had the broiled shrimp with the house special fried rice and cleaned his plate. I went with the broiled seafood and the same rice--no complaints at all. Solid flavor, good portions. The vibe is chill, the kind of place you keep coming back to.

I came for the experience, and it was good, from the service to the food and drink. I am not an avid drinker, so the BUTTA drink took me out. I sip and add ice, but nothing dulls the strong alcohol taste. If you love Hennessy, this drink was made for you. The fries, chicken wings, fried dark mouth-watering, and the shrimp fries were okay but missing vegetables to enchant the taste. The server was funny and friendly, matching the restaurant's laid-back feeling. The ambiance of La Nueva Victoria was simple and clean, giving the impression of Sunday dinner with the family.

Again one of my favorite places . Ordered to go , wait time to receive the food was approximately 15 minutes . I love their seafood . The staff is always pleasant . Ordered the lobster tail dish that came with shrimp fried rice a salad & boiled shrimps . I also ordered a half and half (iced tea and lemonade ). My fiancé ordered egg foo young and a Butta (their famous alcoholic drink ) and my daughter ordered the orange chicken and yellow rice . We also ordered a hot and sour soup . Everything was really good . I really enjoyed the lobster tail , shrimps and shrimp fried rice. FYI If you want to get the half roasted chicken go early as it tends to sell out by the evening hours . (We originally came in for the roasted chicken )

The food is always consistent. Been coming here 10 years +! The service needs work but the food makes up for it. The lobster was fresh and seasoned well. Pepper steak is so good. Can't go wrong with their fried chicken. They let you pick your lobster as well from the tank. I'll always come here.

We tried the mixed ceviche (squid, fish, octopus), 1/2 fried chicken with plantains, and 1/2 rotisserie chicken with fried rice. I would highly recommend all three of these dishes. The ceviche was fresh, simple, and very refreshing; it's a small portion and meant to be shared as an appetizer. Both types of chickens were very flavorful and moist. I don't normally like plantains, but the plantains here were perfectly cooked, lightly fried, and sweet. I have been recommending this place to family and friends and can't wait to go back myself. Multiple staff members came by throughout the meal to ask us if we needed anything. Ambiance: The restaurant is a good size with tables for both small and large groups. The table we sat at was quite large, and I think it could have fit a few more people. The staff was friendly, and the lighting wasn't too dark, nor was it too loud. While I liked the atmosphere, I found the food, or rather specifically the tapas, to be not good at best, while the main dishes were better but also ranged in quality. The fact that the tapas we ordered were pretty closely priced to the mains means I would recommend the mains only based on portion and taste alone. To drink, a bunch of us split a bottle of wine from their large and pretty reasonably priced selection. The first tapas that arrived was something that I could not eat. This was the Pulpo Zarautz for $32, listed as octopus with garlic and merken seasoning served over mashed baby potatoes. The dish was small, and people thought it was OK as they found the pieces of octopus a tad chewy. They liked the spices but were surprised that the potatoes were a bit cool. The $24 Gambas Al Ajillo, with slow-cooked prawns, white wine, EVOO, garlic, and mermen, was alright. There was a handful of shrimp, and they were decently cooked, but the "ajillo," or rather, the garlic, was very light. Therefore, I found it a bit bland, which is almost never the case for this dish. I wouldn't recommend this based on price and flavor. Last and least of the tapas was the $22 Tortilla De Patatas, listed simply as a Spanish omelette. There was an option to add chorizo for $2 more, which we did. Along with the omelette, this also arrived with a few sauces and some pieces of crunchy bread, which were the highlight, as the omelette wasn't good either. The texture of the omelette was very different than any other Spanish omelette I've ever had. It was quite soft with a bit of chew, with a mild chorizo flavor. Along with the greenish color, it wasn't exactly appetizing. I wouldn't recommend this at all, but thankfully, that was the last tapas we ordered. My favorite of the main dishes was the Solomillo & Pebre for $28, listed as skirt steak topped with parsley and olive oil, with hand-cut fried potato and salad. While not the most tender, as it is a skirt steak, it was still well-flavored with the topping almost reminding me, to an extent, of a less oily version of chimichurri. The potatoes had a unique texture, being slightly crispy on the outside while remaining slightly soft in the middle. The salad on the side, which also arrived with one of our other mains, was a tasty mix and certainly more effort than a typical salad you find in many of these places. We also liked the $32 Costillas De Cerdito, with pork ribs in beer, mustard, and rosemary with hand-cut fried potato and salad. The pork ribs were flavorful, though I did find a bit of it to be a bit fatty, but some of that is expected with pork ribs. The mildly sweet and slightly rich sauce paired with the pork ribs. The same comments from before can be made about the potatoes and salad. Last was the OK Paella De Mariscos for $38, listed as rice cooked with shrimp, mussels, clams, prawns, and fresh saffron. The portion size was good, with a lot of mussels and clams in particular, and a handful of shrimp. Of the bite I had of the two large prawns, they were plump and juicy as well. However, the rice was both a bit bland and a tad mushy and felt a bit overcooked compared to many other paellas. There was some socarrat on the bottom as per usual, which was the best part. It's a bit difficult to rate this place. The spices, textures, and flavors were lacking from the overpriced tapas, and I honestly wouldn't recommend any of them. For the main dishes, they were tasty, but you can get a better-cooked skirt steak at many other places for a similar price. The ribs were decent, and the paella was just OK. If we only had the tapas, I probably would be giving this place a 1, but for the whole meal, an upper 2, rounded up.

As soon as I entered, I was greeted by the owner, Lorena. She was very cordial, attentive, gave magnificent recommendations, and added to the enjoyment of the meal. I started with a glass of Red Sangria and was blown away by the size. The glass was almost the size of the Bryant Park fountain, the Sangria was sweet and refreshing, and the fruit was abundant. I ordered two tapas: Croquetas de Jamon Serrano (Ham Croquettes) and the Albondigas (Meatballs). The croquettes were nicely presented, I enjoyed the sauces that adorned each croquette, they had a slightly crunchy outer layer, and the serving was four. The meatballs were amazing. Each ball was flavorful, the serving was EIGHT!, and the accompanying sauce was succulent and was enough to fill every piece of bread. For dessert, I had the EZ Flan. This Flan was LARGE enough to share, thick, and the sweet syrup at the bottom of the plate was delicious. The final item was a Cafe con Leche (Coffee with milk). EZ Paella skyrocketed to my #1 choice for tapas and cannot wait to return with friends, so they can echo my adoration of this eatery. P.S. - Please, do yourself a favor and read the history of EZ Paella, which is on the menu. They made it through COVID and have enjoyed consistent success, since.
