Terrible Experience - Don't Waste Your Time I wish I could give zero stars. What a disaster from start to finish. So I booked them for a house cleaning at $95/hour, which already felt pretty steep, but whatever. At first they're like "yeah no problem, we can get you scheduled within 2 days!" Great, right? Wrong. Then they call back - oh sorry, cleaner's out, how about 2 weeks from now? Then it changes again to 3 days. Like, make up your mind? The scheduling was a joke. They give you a 3-hour window when they might show up. Who has time to sit around for 3 hours waiting? They promise to give you a specific time the day before, but even then it's still an hour-long window. But here's where it gets really ridiculous. Day of the cleaning, I miss a call from them. I call back literally 10 minutes later and they say everything's fine, no problem. Then a few hours later, another call - "oh the cleaner is out sick, so we can't come today. BUT if you want, we can send two cleaners and you just pay double!" Are you kidding me?? What kind of business operates like this? Save yourself the money and frustration and go with literally any other cleaning service. There are tons in the area that actually know how to run a business. read more

Over 20 years of cleaning service with Merry Maids they've always provided excellent service, professional, safety during the pandemic. The cleaners were alway nice and friendly. Although, the most recent management in the past 3 weeks have notably unprofessional over the phone by implying I didn't pay the correct amount $125 (raise in cost $165 2bed 2bath) which I was never given a 30 day written notification of a price increase. In the past I've always been give a 30 day written notification and during difficult times the past manager was always accommodating to the certain situations. They've called several times in 1 week at odd hours and telling me I need to pay them the price increase and were very unprofessional and rude. I mentioned to send me a written letter and provided me with the price increase. As of today they've terminated my services without any written notification via text message. **this is unacceptable**unprofessional in running a business**very rude over the phone**as far as customer services. Right now as of today 11/17/2021 I would give the a 2 star rating. I was suppose to have a deep clean service done today and that is not what I got. I'm very disappointed, I spoke with someone in the office and they are going to try and rectify this matter. My bathroom was left untouched completely, my blinds weren't touched, floorboards and corners of tiled floor were left with dirt. Very very disappointing. I used Merry Maids about 16 yrs ago and was very satisfied. I've had a cleaning lady since then who has left us as she moved out of state, so I am a returning customer and like I have said I am very disappointed. I asked for services on a studio apartment and was completely displeased. I shouldn't have to tell someone how to do their job; that's simply rude. I decided to call in hopes the manager could address this issue in a proper manner, but instead became immediately irrational. I wasn't asking for a refund until i was told that it's my fault she didn't clean inside the fridge when I was very specific of my needs when inquiring about the services. I arranged for Merry Maids to come in the morning we were coming home. I made clear that all I required was having the kitchen cleaned and changing the sheets on the upstairs beds. Very basic maid service! while we were packing up and tidying the cabin we rented, Merry Maids called and said that the team they dispatched to my home to clean the kitchen, came in and took one look at our house and said, "we don't do this sort of cleaning" and turned and left. I was furious! I made it very clear when making the appointment that I just wanted someone to clean the kitchen and change the sheets on the upstairs beds, that is very basic maid service! I know my home is a nightmare (I'm a stroke survivor and that limits the amount of hands and knees work I can do!)You don't need to call and tell me so just when I am packing up to drive to my pig stye! Giving my family a vacation was getting them away to the woods for five days. Giving *myself* a vacation, certainly wasn't feeding 5 people for 5 days in a foreign kitchen, it was anticipating coming home to find someone mopped my kitchen floor for me and set me up to sleep on fresh sheets after showering in my own shower! I made my dissatisfaction very clear, and then had a tantrum and got into the car to come home to wash the pet sitter's mess. (I know she should do it, but I didn't raise her!) They were hired to have 2 girls, for 2 hours at $130/hour for a total of $260 to only vacuum the carpeted floors, clean the wood floors, clean the kitchen & 3 bathrooms. I wanted the cupboards cleaned of grease, and under them as well. Big mistake, as I used them to clean a duplex 2 years ago and did a good job. The people on the phone a rude, and the first girl that came used a floor cleaner that was brown and sprayed it all over the place, she missed some real greasy spots, got the spray running down the fridge, inside the cupboards, and on the floor. She was on her cell phone the whole hour she was here. So had 2 other people come to fix the problems, and they did a good job. I will never get this company to do anything for me again! read more

I was very satisfied with Merry Maids in the past. They recently sent two very inexperienced cleaners to my home. After paying over $500 for the service I had to redo most of what they did when they left. They did not clean the kitchen sink or wash the kitchen floor, the did not clean the bathroom countertop or the mirror, they did not lift the lamps to clean underneath them. There was dust under the entertainment center as well as around the table legs. When I asked for a refund they offered to send someone back. I needed the cleaning done within a certain time-frame and could not have them come back. I got a $100 refund. I believe I should have gotten back half of what I paid. Things have gotten a little hectic at the household & went from manageable chaos to what the heck happened, really really fast. **cue superhero music** Merry Maids to the Rescue! I started w/basic concerns. Are they good, reliable, clean, safe, dependable, trustworthy, etc? Can I give them the key to my home, safely? Are they bonded, insured, are they going to steal my stuff? Answers: no worries, everything is taken care of. Each week they focus on a different area of the house. They'll clean the tracks in the windows & the sliding glass doors, clean blinds, etc. Deduction of 2 stars for leaving the same "we focused on this area of the house" twice in a row & for being a little on the pricey side. Other than that, I leave in the morning and it is a mess, come home at night and all is clean and right with the world. read more

Very expensive relative to other housecleaning services for a completely just OK job. I hired a cleaning service because I didn't want to spend my free time scrubbing the kitchen and bathrooms. Their service is much more about tiding up...fluffing pillows, rearringing magazines and only really light cleaning. I would often scrub the tub again after they had cleaned to get rid of the hardwater and soap scum they left behind. Then there was the whole other matter of them misplacing my house key and then charging me for a missed visit when I wasn't home to let them into the house. We now use Major Minor Services and are very happy with them (I want to review a review on them, but can't find the business on Yelp for some reason). You'll spend a lot less money for deeper cleaning there. read more

Late review, last August called for a 1 time DEEP clean. Owner came gave me an estimate ( 700.00 ) yes wow ! ... I agreed .... time came ... they didn't show. Some sort of mix up, by the owner who wrote down everything I wanted done, time & date ( honestly I think she had it in her mind that I couldn't afford it ) when I called and questioned the secretary about the no show, she actually told me the owner came in with my order threw it on her desk and didn't put it on the schedule . More or less telling her ' she won't call back' ! Wait .... I thought it was on the schedule ! Ok . About the cleaning when they did finally show up a week later . Didn't show until almost 10:00 am .. ok I have a 4 bedroom 1 &1/2 baths ( 1 bedroom I asked them not to clean, my husbands office . Only 2 rooms I asked them to wash the walls ( kitchen and upstairs bath ) Remember this was a DEEP clean . I left the 1 girl alone... stayed downstairs. 2 hours later, girl #2 shows up. ( Don't read into this that I at anytime thought the girls were rude or anything like that, they were very nice ! ) they both stayed up stairs from 10:00 till about 2::00 ( 4 smoke breaks & a lunch ) THEN their BOSS arrives, she takes 1 girl back upstairs & spends another 1/2 hour . She leaves and they tell me that is the First time BOSS ( OWNER) has ever came by to check on them . The owner did however apologize to me for the mix up of scheduling before leaving . So by 2:30 they are ready to start downstairs, I stay downstairs . Wow 1 more smoke break, as I watch Them clean ( ha) never moved any furniture , cleaned 3 shelves of 5 shelf bookshelf . Oh and they tell you. 'we don't use mops ' ... we get down on our knees ... that's correct BUT they push around this bowl, not a bucket full of dirty water and SPOT mop . Never getting clean water ! AND that was it for my family room. Same for 1/2 bath plus they never touched the laundry room ! Ok by this time it was 4:00 ( I was really hoping they were going to say see you tomorrow ) nope All done ! Let me remind you this was a 1 time DEEP clean. ! Oh the disappointment . I should say that the owner gave me a 100.00 discount after the schedule mix up. I've been using Merry Maids for about ten years now, so I guess you already know I'm happy with them. While not perfect, they've been good enough and responsive enough that I stuck with them. Initially I used them twice a month. Now they come every week. Pros: 1. The quality of cleaning is generally good, but it really depends on the team. If you're unhappy, call and ask for a different team. A few months ago I got a team that barely cleaned. I called to complain and Miguel switched me to a wonderful team that leaves the house sparkling (I won't share their names so that you don't call and steal them from me!). ;) 2. Service is generally reliable. They call you or text you the day before to let you know what time the cleaners will arrive the next day. And they almost always arrive on time. 3. The office staff/management is very responsive. Miguel is a pleasure to work with, he's very courteous and pleasant, and Eric is good too. Cons: 1. Screening of new employees. A few years ago, a new Merry Maids employee stole from us. It turns out that Merry Maids screen new employees (background check etc.), but send them to work before having full results (at least that's how they did it back then). In their defense, they immediately reimbursed us for the value of the stolen item ($200). But $200 is easy... what if the value was $5000? I don't know how they would have reacted then. After this had happened, I asked Miguel to never again send us new, just-screened employees. As far as I know, Merry Maids have respected my wish. 2. They are expensive and regularly hike the service price. I was quite frustrated when they seriously hiked the price on us after we had moved to a new, SMALLER house, in the same city. 3. In the past, in addition to the regular cleaning, they used to deep-clean one room each time they came, rotating the rooms so that overtime, each room received special attention. As far as I can tell, this service is now gone, even though the price has gone UP. Bottom line: Recommended. Despite the above mentioned reservations, my current team does clean well, and the office staff are very responsive and generally do their best to make things right. -- EDITED on August 3, 2018: Merry Maids have been steadily increasing prices (I think they've been doing it twice a year). Price is now ridiculously high. So I subtracted one star, changing my rating from 4 stars to 3 stars. I'm still with them for now, but I'm not a very happy customer at this point. read more

A few weeks back I was in the ER several times over the course of a couple days. Due to that we fell behind in taking care of our house. It reached a point where we were overwhelmed with the amount of work to be done. Our house was a mess so I asked my wife to call Merry Maids and see about pricing to come out and work on the kitchen. I wanted to see how they would handle it before committing to getting help with the whole house. Merry maids recommended 2 people for an hour and their rate was far more reasonable than I expected, so we agreed to have them come work on the kitchen. While they don't normally do dishes, after hearing about our situation they said they would help with dishes as well. I was astounded at how much they managed to complete in an hour, and was even more impressed at how good of a job they did. Not only did they do all my dishes, they also cleaned all the counter tops, the oven, swept, mopped, cleaned our toaster oven, and wiped down cabinets. We were so impressed we signed up to have them come out once a week. I highly recommend them. read more

I thought I was signing up for professional cleanings. They sold me on a "deep clean" to start off with. But the "deep clean" did not include dusting the fans or vacuuming the floors. They said they were sending out two people for 2-3 hours but sent 1 person who stayed for 45 minutes and did not mop or clean the sinks or toilets. I was very satisfied with the woman who came and worked on my condominium. The job was supposed to be deep cleaning, preparing the condominium for rental. She worked hard for three hours but it took me another four hours to complete it today. Our tenant left it a mess and it warranted more time. I paid $315 for three hours of work and I was told by Merry Maids that I would not have to worry about it because everything would be completed. It was not the employee's fault because she needed more time or another person to assist her....more time that she did not have. Merry Maids should have sent two people to work on this job. They knew it was going to be a big job because I told them in detail what needed to be done. I will not recommend Merry Maids to my friends nor will I ever use it again. Paid for 3 hours of a deep cleaning service for my handicapped Uncle's 1 bedroom trailer. They only stayed for 2 hours, claimed they were "too hot, to work". The place looked as if nothing was touched! Only the shower was cleaned of soap scum and the bathroom counter wiped down. Kitchen counters, stove top, coffee tables, blinds, windows, floors, dining room table, and toilet were all left dirty, dusty, and untouched. We paid Merry Maids $488 to come clean our home. We were currently not living in the home and when we csme to move into the home not a thing had been done. Mirirors were dirty, tooth paste still in the sink, floors still covered in dirt, toilets dirty, etc. They charged us and I don't believe they ever stepped foot in the home. This was the worst cleaning service we had used for our rental property. They were not only 4 hours late, but they didn't complete the work they had committed to, and left my wife and I hanging with a dirty house. Dirt was left in the corners of the house. We asked they clean the inside windows, but that wasn't done. And the bathroom shower had mildew on the ceilings, which they didn't even touch. My wife and I had to spent our weekend doing the job that these guys said they would do. I would highly advise not using this company, very poor service and they do not back up their work. I recently used Merry Maids to clean my home. The good things: -They call an hour ago before they come, and they arrive very promptly. This is very good. -They have all the tools and detergents. And they clean everywhere. Not so good side: -One time they cleaned the dust on the ceiling/wall everywhere which was good. But before I realized, one of the ladies cleaned the area on top of the clean pots/dishes so the dust and the fiber from the duster fell onto them.. This is my splurge every two weeks, and I love knowing that I do not have to do bathrooms or floors any more. They work around my pets, and my home is spotless every time so far. I was in a bind and called same day. They had a team of two cleaners at my condo 45 minutes later. They worked very hard on a tough job and were able to really make the place look great. They accidentally broke a shower piece while cleaning and their supervisor brought the replacement piece over while they were still cleaning. Really appreciated their service. Merry Maids came to do a deep clean for my 1200 sq foot house. I specifically asked them to do my windows. They charged me $375 dollars for the initial deep clean but did not do my blinds. I asked them if there was an additional charge for that or were they supposed to do that with the initial window cleaning, they responded they would send someone back out to do those. They came back out to clean the blinds and left dirt all over my floor and charges me an additional $75. DO NOT USE THEM THEY ARE TERRIBLE. read more
