Extremely rude. I called to see if I could get a room cleaned. He told me that I would have to be charged for my entire apartment. Giving me a quote of $500. Context I live in an apartment with two other people, they do not want their rooms cleaned. The room I need deep cleaned is the size of a queen bed, not joking. So I tried talking with the guy a bit more to see if I could get some leeway, and he straight up told me that if he is not making at least $400 then it is not worth it. More context, this business is 6 minutes away from my apartment. The guy also talked about how long he has been in business and how respected he is, completely unprompted by the way. This is what the Groupon said. $119 for Deep Cleaning of an Entire Home from Merry Men Cleaning ($225 Value) "Do what you love," the saying goes, "and you'll never work a day in your life." It just so happens that Fred Lomax loves to clean, and it was his passion for a tidy home that inspired him to open Merry Men Cleaning in 2014. Today, he oversees a team of technicians as fastidious as he is, and together they use a combination of good old-fashioned elbow grease and an arsenal of safe, effective cleaning products to make homes and commercial spaces sparkle. THIS IS WHAT WE GOT: What we got was a light dusting and vacuum at most. Hardly a cleaning at all. Immediately upon arriving Fred gave us a song and dance about how he only gets $27 dollars from Groupon and that they take the rest. Then he upcharged us and urged us to have our windows done (see some the the results in the pictures). At the end of his time with us, we wracked up an additional $100, and thinking that he had done a great job, because he was so personable and told us he was going to do a great job (see photos), we gave him an additional $50 for him and his co-cleaner. So our "deal" on Groupon cost us $269.00. Honestly we don't know what they did for us. The upstairs was vacuumed, but nothing was dusted in the bedrooms, furniture was not moved to get the dust behind, baseboards and molding weren't dusted, kitchen cabinets weren't washed, grease remained on top of the stove hood, under the beds were left full of dust, behind the dressers - you guessed it, more dust, behind the toilet, more dust, tubs - not touched at all. We are at a huge loss, not only monetarily, but dumbfounded that this person could take our money knowing full well he did not do nearly a cleaning as the offer we purchased claimed. Fred said he would make good, said he arrived at our home and rang the doorbell (we discovered the doorbell is broken), said he knocked (we have two dogs who would have barked... no barking), and then called us to tell us we "wasted his time" and hung up. So if you want a professional scam artist prancing "Merrily" around as a "professional house cleaner", then have at it. Lesson be learned - buyer beware! Their business card says "Be Nice. Be Merry". We hired Fred for an initial deep clean, then planned for biweekly cleanings. His rate for our 2 bedroom, 1 bath -1100sq ft apartment was $100. The initial cleaning was okay - however he did not vacuum under the couch cushions and carpet, he did return to correct these issues. Our second cleaning was okay, not perfect but that was fine. We found another cleaning service for significantly less money and decided to try. When we terminated service with Fred he told us "good luck with the cheap people". I just felt this was very unprofessional. Would have given him another shot if this cleaner did not work out but not any more. Would not recommend. read more

I hired Merry Men a few times and overall its not completely terrible as far as cleaning goes but they just make the job more difficult than it has to be. They don't have common sense and can't follow directions very well. I lay out simple instructions to do certain things that we agreed upon and they don't get done. Not only that, but they are argumentative and unprofessional. After a few visits I just moved to the next company who I've been happy with. Ultimately they have some work to do on the professionalism side. I will say however they do care about what they do and are genuinely honest about wanting to do a good job - they just haven't figured it out yet. read more

Merry men cleaning one of the best cleaning companies around. They were hired to clean my home and the meticulous detail Freddie showed was remarkable. Streak free cleaning of Windows. Grout immaculate. Carpets were shampooed and so much more. He is very eager to be sure your home is perfect and willing tho go above and beyond tho make sure his clients are pleased. My first time using a cleaning service. We are having special company from out of town staying with us this weekend sensitive to dust and dander. They did a decent job. Perhaps my expectations were not reasonable (we have cats I was not expecting a miracle by any means). Thought I was satisfied until I went about my routine. I was drying up water spilled from the pet dish with a paper towel and was quite surprised to see just how dirty my freshly cleaned floors were. At face value everything looks fine, but the couches weren't touched, or vacuumed under, baseboards and corner cobs forgotten, etc. Feels incomplete for deep clean/focus on dust removal. As to their service they were very pleasant. I did have a last minute cancelation from them (2min before they were to show up) and some other small inconveniences. Not a huge deal and certainly 1st world problems, but ironic when paying for the convenience of a cleaning service. Silver lining: the partially consumed can of coke they left was mostly full...and still cold! Thanks anyways its still that much less work I have to do in preparation for our guests! read more

Merry men is a terrible cleaning service. They steal! They cleaned my house for a little over a month every 2 weeks. I started to notice a lot of my panties where missing. Then I noticed a couple of my wigs missing. These 2 guys were stealing my clothes! So not only are they terrible cleaners, they steal, & there cross dressers. We hired Freddie and his company for move in cleaning at our new home. They did an amazing job! We are so happy that we hired them. What a time saver and they went above and beyond. I am so pleased with Fred. He saved me when I was in a construction mess. I am currently renovating my hair salon and I contacted Fred last minute and he showed up and did an amazing job. He came after hours when most would not have. Above and beyond on what I asked him to help with. Very pleasant and very trust worthy. Paid for entire house cleaning; they tried to leave without washing my kitchen floor!!! When I questioned them on it, they came back in with a dirty mop and "cleaned" it in less than a minute flat. Later I noticed they didnt even wipe down ceiling fans. Wish I had noticed before I paid them, because I would have withheld. read more

I never leave reviews, however it should be known, that Merry Men cleaning is NOT a professional cleaning service They did not vacuum, dust, or even clean the tub in my home. All the faucets were left untouched. They did not vacuum under any rugs if they vacuumed at all. They were in my home for 2 hours, and I have no idea what they did inside my home for 2 hours with 2 men. They did however leave a stale cigarette smell in my smoke free home. Please do not use this service. They even had the nerve to ask for a tip! I have had several house keepers over the years, and this was by far the worst I have ever experienced. read more
