A true answer to our prayers!! We transferred from a very "challenging" school that didn't do anything for our kindergartners confidence. We started with Merryhill fall last year and my grandson has absolutely blossomed! The school takes a whole person view of each child and provides them with social and academic opportunities that invite the entire school and family to participate! It reminds me of the old days of education where the school saw itself as a partner to actually teach. I thought the trauma of his experience at his previous school may take a few grades to erase but in a short time Ms Zapanti saw what he needed the most which with love and patience. My 4-year-old daughter transferred from Challenger to Merryhill Preschool 3 months ago because she used to cry every day at her old school. My wife and I were really worried she might react the same way here -- but guess what, she's doing so much better at Merryhill! This school truly has empathy and warmth. Ms Gram and Ms Niemand are not just teachers -- they give real mothership. They make my daughter feel secure, trusting, and cared for. My daughter is a highly sensitive child (HSP) -- she feels anxious with too many strangers or changes around her, so it takes time for her to adapt. From day one, both teachers have been incredibly patient and loving. They treat every child equally, with the same care and responsibility. One day my daughter told me about a new boy who cried nonstop during his first week. Every time we came to pick her up, we'd see him closely attached to the teachers -- it was clear he felt safe with them. He literally follows Ms Gram wherever she goes, which says everything about how nurturing they are. Other things I love about this school: parents get monthly reports for their kids, there are regular teacher-parent meetings, and they offer a great variety of lunch options and events for kids to learn and explore. We're so grateful to have found a school that truly understands children and provides such a loving environment. read more

All three of my kids attended Merryhill (the youngest two attended since they were 3-months old), and until we moved away recently I didn't realize how blessed and fortunate we were to have found this school. We are on the hunt for school option #3 in our new city and I can't stop comparing them to the wonderful experience we had at Merryhill. The teachers became a part of our family, they cared about the well being of our kids beyond the classroom and I always felt comfortable to approach them with questions or concerns. I am amazed at the progress they made with our kids and how well prepared they were for Kindergarten. Not only were/are they prepared, they were excited to learn and couldn't wait to get to school. The curriculum exceeded all of my expectations, which also makes it hard to find something comparable now :( The weekly projects, the themed dramatic play areas, the fun circle times, etc etc (I could go on and on), always kept my kids involved and motivated. I miss Merryhill, the teachers, and the front office staff so much. I wish I could move them all here!! read more

My son went to Merryhill for infant care for rough 5 months. The fee is roughly just under $1500 a month for full time care. Once my son was 13 weeks old I started him part time at Merryhill. My experience was relatively positive until his second week when he started attending full time. The infant room is connected to the toddler room and the toddlers are often mixed with the infants. This is a cost saving measure for the school so it does not have to pay multiple teachers to watch the different age groups separately. It bothered me that the ages were mixed because it was winter and the toddlers were sick more often than the babies and were exposing their germs to the babies. Merryhill has a school policy for safe sleep that all babies must be in a crib for sleep. During my son's first full week I went to pick him up and all of the crib mattresses were up because the teacher had cleaned the cribs. There was no safe place for my son to sleep because my son was the only infant left and the teacher wanted to leave after I picked him up (it was not yet even 5pm). When I arrived my son 14 week old son who had very little head control was asleep in a bouncy chair slumped over with his head blocking his airway and was not strapped in to the seat. I was horrified. I asked how long he had been like that. The teacher said at least 15 minutes. I took my son home and called the principal because she was gone for the day. She said the teacher in that room was usually not in that room and she was not qualified to be in there. She said she would not be in that room again and this incident would not happen again. I decided to continue to give Merryhill a chance. It is common to have subs in the infant room that you have never met or seen before. I would often go in that room and have no idea who I was handing my son to. These subs would never have met my husband prior to him picking up my son in the evenings and there are no checks to ensure the adult entering the infant room is authorized to leave with the child they are leaving with. This is a scary security concern. Not to mention that strangers are often watching your child. This school fails to provide consistent quality care for your baby. When there are changes in the main teachers for the room you only find out by showing up to the room and seeing that a teacher your child has a bond with is gone. There is no communication with the parents as to what is occurring in the room. You would often go in the room and three babies would be crying but the only teacher in the room could not help those babies because she is busy feeding or changing another child. Often there is only one teacher in this room and if your child is in distress, tough luck. Your child will not get care or attention. The sick policy at this school is seriously lacking. My son contracted RSV and was hospitalized and on oxygen for a week because this school does not send sick toddlers and infants home. Instead, the sick toddlers mingle with the infants because as I noted above, the age groups are often combined. I spoke with one of the teachers after my son returned to school and she said she knew which child started it, but the parents insisted he only had allergies. The school never sent the child home or requested he see his pediatrician. But because that child was older the virus did not affect him as badly as my vulnerable infant. The room is seriously lacking in safety for these babies. The floor is hard tile and there is only a thin small rug for the babies to be on. You will often see babies who are learning to sit fall on the rug and crack there heads. A few months after the unqualified teacher I discussed above endangered my child, I went into the room to drop my son off and she was in the room. She was the only teacher in there and was there with a baby that was learning to sit. She as aware the baby could not sit well on his own and caught him a few times. She negligently stopped paying attention to the baby and he fell backwards and CRACKED his skull on the hard tile floor. It was a horribly loud crack and the child was distraught. She acted as though this was no big deal. Had this been my son I would have taken him to the hospital. I spoke with the assistant principal regarding why this unqualified teacher was in the room again. She said it's hard when someone calls out sick and that she was in the room at one point that morning. I paid enough money for them to always provide qualified care for my son but the school consistently failed to do so and instead knowingly placed an unqualified person in that room. It was after this event that I chose to leave Merryhill. Other similar issues occurred throughout my time here. My two stars are solely for the few caring and qualified teachers here. The administration does not care about infant room here. Now that I am at a new daycare I know what infant care should look like. read more

This school exceeds all expectations! We moved to Las Vegas from California in January and enrolled our 3.5 year old at Merryhill Preschool. In the short time she has been at the school we have seen leaps in her social, verbal, emotional, and writing skills. Merryhill does a great job communicating frequently with parents and has an organized curriculum that elevates education while promoting fun. My daughter loves going to school and loves her teachers, Ms. Graham and Ms. Tomasello. I highly recommend this school! read more

We are so lucky to have found this school for our son! I'm the type of parent who won't even let babysitters watch my kids because I'm so overprotective, but I feel completely confident that my child will be treated kindly and with respect here. He had incredible teachers last year and incredible ones this year as well! My son is learning a lot and comes home with a smile on his face every day. By 3, he was spelling his name and saying the Pledge of Allegiance from memory. The teachers do a lot to vary the activities and have new themes each week. His teachers also care about him as a person, and work with his personality style to create the best possible learning environment for him. They take note of the parents' goals for the year and help meet them. The school is clean and organized, and smells good, which appeals to the OCD in me. The principal and front staff always have smiles on their faces. I honestly couldn't ask for anything more! read more

I went to Merryhill Summerlin for a dental presentation and I have to say I was beyond impressed. The school was super cute, clean and most importantly kid friendly. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. The student were magnificent and well behaved and you can tell the teachers and staff have good control over the children. I would definitely go back and do as many presentations they want me to do. You can tell there is structure and respect. If I had little ones I would definitely send them here. read more

More than just day care. I am constantly surprised by the academic and social progress of my son. Everyone also says the same when they interact with him. Teachers are awesome at their job and, in my opinion, need to be paid much more for how much they put in and their quality of work. I also thoroughly enjoy the constant daily pics and haplenings as well as the sports the mids can participate in with their classmates. Its more than just a school as you become a part of a small family. This is most apparent during extra curricular happenings at the school like the festivals they have for the kids. We didn't like living in Las Vegas very much, but we did love this school. The staff is absolutely amazing and the instruction is outstanding (it's not just a daycare). Our oldest daughter was reading before she turned 5. The teachers truly care about the children which made the decision to leave our little ones there for nearly 10 hours a day so we could work much more palatable. My one year old loves her class. They send home a monthly folder of the curriculum they teach. I'm a teacher so I look forward to hearing about her progress. Merryhill Preschool is fantastic! My kids have attended for the past 5 years and I cannot say enough about the teachers at this school. Staff is long term, which says a lot about the organization, and the care and education is all I could hope for. It was difficult to put my first child in a daycare at 3 months, but Merryhill made the transition very easy for me. We also returned to the school this year after a year break due to relocation and I feel the admin staff is even better than it was previously. My oldest son went to Merryhill Elementary in Summerlin and my youngest son attends Merryhill Preschool next door. Although it is no longer efficient (now that my oldest son is in middle school and attends a public school near our home), I still drive my youngest to Merryhill (which is about a 15-minute drive) because we are committed to making sure our youngest finishes preschool there. The approach Merryhill takes to learning helps to support the development of the whole child, not just part of the child. I have watched my child flourish intellectually, emotionally, and physically. He even brandishes a level of self-confidence and happiness that perhaps would not shine through without the community of support we found at Merryhill. We also always feel welcome at the school. Staff members call us by name and share personal notes about our child in passing. A few times each semester, the staff even organizes a themed, family event, which is the perfect way for my family to check-in and make sure we are treasuring life's invaluable moments. This past school year, my youngest son was lucky enough to be placed in Ms. Graham's class. Her bright personality, direct engagement with parents and students, and dependable work ethic, make her an outright phenomenal teacher. I cannot recall her missing one day of class, and everyday, she showed up with a smile. I could always expect a greeting from Ms. Graham when I walked into her classroom. And although she was always smiling and encouraging her students, she offered clear boundaries and disciplinary guidelines to keep the learning process intact. She is friendly, yet focused, and organized, yet not too rigid. She is perfect for a preschooler. Ms. Graham is a gem. My son even tells us that he loves her. I am glad we found Ms. Graham and Merryhill Preschool-Summerlin. In them, we found a well-rounded curriculum, open communication with parents, and a feeling of community for our child to spend his early years. We are grateful. read more

My 3 year old is having the greatest time at the summer camp. He has Ms Cruell and he adores her. When I pick up she is always engaged with kids and has total control over her class. I can't speak for other teachers as this is our first experience here. The admin is helpful and always available. They seem to stay visible to stay on top of everything. Seems like a well oiled machine. We were so nervous to send our little guy somewhere completely new for 5 full days but now we are very content. Also- the price is great (we spend as much a week as we would spend a day having someone come to the house). And the extended hours make life much easier. I love this school!! My 3 year old daughter has been enrolled in Merryhill Preschool on Snow Trail for two years. She is already writing her name, able to count in both Spanish and english and she has great socialization skills. All of the staff is really involved in her care and education, making sure to check in with me every day. They even helped me with potty training last year!!! The class sizes are small so the kids get a lot of individual attention and care. They are security conscious and check id's of people coming in to pick up kids to make sure they are on the list. Ms. Yingling principal Ms Snyder and Mrs. Mertz are wonderful and really involved. They work me with me when every I have questions or when my daughter is having a bad day. This is our daughters first year of school which so happens to be in a brand new city for her as well. We were greeted by an amazing staff from the teachers, support staff to the principal. Everyone has made us feel very welcome in addition to having open communication with all questions answered. Our three year old has a ball and is very eager and excited to tell us all about it when we pick her up. I think it is a perfect balance of learning while having fun environment. We love this school. It was the right time to get my daughter at 15 months old into a school part time to keep her busy as she is very active and loves to learn. I had searched other schools, some which were less expensive, but did not have near the quality of education, teachers, atmosphere and just TLC that this school has. We couldn't be happier. We have only been here for a short time, but so far we feel we have chosen the right place for our daughter to grow and learn. They teach sign language, art, music. They go outside and play. Both new to Las Vegas and life in America (British ex-Pats) we feel blessed to have found Merryhill for our children. Both son and daughter settled quickly and look forward to school each day. The staff go the extra mile allowing us to leave each morning knowing they are in safe hands. The location is perfect accessing either the Summerlin Parkway or 215 within 5 minutes of departure. Throughout the week we feel included in the syllabus delivery utilizing the Tadpole App and find the homework is set at the correct level to stretch our son. I cannot sing higher praises for Merryhill Snowtrail School. We have sent both our children to the school from as early as 7 weeks old until age 5 and PreK graduation. We've had the pleasure to get to know the entire staff for the last 7 years. Upon my youngest graduating, I felt like we were losing family members. The teachers are wonderful people who truly care about children. They give the kids a great base of knowledge. What really can't be quantified is the feeling of trust you need when you leave your child in the hands of other. We trusted Merryhill and have never been disappointed. We love Merryhill. I could not be more grateful we found this school. At 3yo, my son was having a very difficult time with the previous preschool he was attending. He was crying every morning and never wanted to go. He hated school. We came to Merryhill in the middle of their summer program. They made room for him even though they were pretty full. They listened to his history and all of our concerns. They were extremely helpful in getting him adjusted and finding the right class for him when school started int he fall. He has since grown by leaps and bounds. His confidence has increased and I have been very impressed with all he has learned this year. He has made great friends and we have good relationships with most of the staff, even those not directly interacting with him. Ms. Regan (principal), Ms. Snyder(vice principal), and Ms. Mertz are all wonderful. His teachers Ms. Lyons and Ms. Sylvester were absolutely terrific. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. They have a great PTO as well and lots of family included events. We have had an awesome experience and would recommend this school to anyone. I wish I had found it sooner. read more

I enrolled my son ,3 1/2 years old, in this school for 8 weeks. He had a very difficult time napping. They punished him for not napping by "making" him nap up at the front desk, in the llight, with the phone ringing, and foot traffic. Naturally this was not successful. Next they put him in the principal's office and tried to make him nap there. This just reinforced his behavior, so naturally it did not work. I offered to come in everyday at nap time and help him fall asleep. This was not allowed, they said. I created a behavior reward system for him to nap, it was not followed. When we was corrected behaviorally the teachers would crouch down and speak to him, which was confrontational, so he hit them. It was an awful experience, and finally the school "Dis-enrolled" him. I should have pulled him out after 2 weeks. Trust your instincts Moms, if you think it's wrong, it is. read more
