Since moving from FL I have never had a single good crab cake in all of VA...UNTIL I tried Jane's crab cakes. They are all of what a good crab cake has to offer: A large thick patty mostly consisting of super fresh crab and garnished with delicious spices and only small amount of filler. Their homemade sauce is perfectly zesty and pairs well with the crab cake and bun; I always get extra. To top it off the owner is always very kind and runs it with her family. Other than this one there is a flower shop that carries my favorite celosia flowers and my favorite caromont farm goat cheese. They have a wonderful variety of other unique shops and delicious food vendors to try. I highly recommend Jane's crabcakes and the Charlottesville City Market in general, so much that I am willing to travel almost 2 hours to get there. So here we are with my 2nd visit. We arrived before they opened, was 6th in line, and the people in front ordered a lot and they allowed it.. very inconsistent practice. The girl taken the order even mentioned to one of them about needing to accommodate the people behind her. Unfortunately, they still allowed that person to order more than they should have been allowed to order. By the time we got to order we weren't able to get what we were there for because they had no extra trays made. So there was a ton of people that had been waiting that weren't going to be able to get what they wanted either. There truly needs to be a limit on how many speciality rolls you can order. I'd say a 2 per person limit. That's fair. If you want more than that you need to order ahead. Otherwise, as quick as you've rised as quick you will fall. To me you should have a line for people who ordered ahead, and they come in and grab their order and go. Everyone else gets a number when they walk in and a limit on what they can get. Then, you'll know how many trays you should have ready. Plus they had a mess piling up on the counter from the people who had ordered before us waiting on more rolls to come out of the back. I'm shocked they weren't getting mixed up. Very unorganized. It does no good how famous you think you're getting if you can't accommodate your customers. Until something changes we won't be back. It's not worth showing up early and being one of the first ones and still not getting what you came there for. Are you saying you have to be the first person at the door? That's not a business that's more like a contest you have to pay for.
