I grew up in Toledo, Ohio going to a place called Loma Linda's. To this day they had the best enchiladas I've ever had. Having lived in several different states, I always try enchiladas at every Mexican place I go to. I've never found any as good. So I was a little too excited when I tried the enchiladas here and a flood of memories came back. After 40+ years, I finally found a place that rivaled the place from my memories. Everything we ordered was exceptional: the burrito bowl, the queso and guac, a queso burrito, a birria taco, and the street corn was so good. Don't skip this place. If you're looking for good Mexican food it's a little out of the way, but the food, the staff and the prices are worth the trip. read more

Came here on Valentine's Day, and it was surprisingly, not busy at all, we got seated right away. The server started us off with the complementary chips and salsa, which I liked a lot. I tried a birria taco and to al pastor. They were both fantastic although I asked for salsa Verde with my tacos the server never came with it until I was finished with my meal. The fajitas were very good lots of flavor and lots of toppings for them as well. We also tried the fried ice cream and I would have to say I would not recommend this at all, it was not fried not even a little bit warm. It was just cold ice cream with some corn flakes on top. I enjoy this place and probably eat here once a month. They have plant based menu items clearly marked, and plenty of options for omnivores. I love the nopales and plant based chorizo. Margaritas are hit or miss. They have one that claims to use real lime juice and I used to order it. 70% of the time very good and with tequila. This evening, we hoped to have taco Tuesday, but feared they took it away. No table tents like they used to have. Mind you, this only saves you $2 off the plato but still. We were eating here no matter what and asked the waitress if they still had it. The answer was a mystery until she brought the bill and said they did still have it. Yay! Ordered my usual taco plato (2 tacos and 2 sides). The portions have gotten really small. I compared my pictures of the exact same dish and see avocado missing, half the portion of beans and nopales. No bueno. Also experienced an employee spraying empty tables right next to ours when the restaurant was empty. That stuff gets everywhere. You can't wait until the only two customers are out? There were many great things about this place, and lots of positives, but I am probably never going back. The décor here is cute. Nice set up. People who work here are nice and helpful. There is a nice menu with many choices. I liked the chips and salsa, they chips were nice and hot. The salsa was okay, neither the red nor the green had much flavor, but still satisfying to eat. I tried the house marg with salt. It was good, nothing spectacular that would make me want to get more. We also had a Mexican dark from a bottle and a Pacifico, which was fine. The kids got a couple n/a drinks, I like that they have that featured on the menu/ table top post. I also liked that you got a choice of two sides, and were not just forced to get beans and rice. I had the fries and lime cilantro rice. I also like that guach was considered a side and you did not have to pay extra. The portions of the burritos were very large, but the tacos were small. That being said, we all did have leftovers. The food was good, but not amazing enough to come back. I had mahi taco and beirria beef taco. The amazing thing on the menu was the corn salsa. That was so flavorful, I would come back just to order a container of that alone. It was so good. What I do not like as a customer and I have not said so in the past, but I am tired of it, is the upcharge for using a credit card. You cannot tell anymore, so many place either want credit card only, or prefer cash. It is really had to have that much cash on my at all times. I get it if I am at a flea market or craft show, where you are dealing with individual people. But a business, if you are going to charge me an extra percent in this economic condition then you better have good prices, an amazing product, or something to offer me as a customer that would make me want to come back to your business. This place did not. While it was good, I have had better elsewhere and cannot afford both high prices and an upcharge. So I cannot come back unless one of those factors changes. read more

Ordered Tijuana Caesar, 6 tacos for $28: 2 chicken tinga, 2 mahi mahi, 1 gringo, 1 pollo asada and 2 black bean sides. $63.08. They do give you a cash discount if you pay with cash. They are out of the Nopales or cactus for the tacos today. They have a picture of Topo Chico, but they don't have any to order for a drink at all, rather odd. The corn chips are fresh, crunchy and thick and good. The Tijuana salad is simple, but tasty, mostly the dressing and the avocado. The guacamole isn't bad at all, not a ton of flavor, but still tasty. The side of black beans are good, has some flavor and has celery and carrots with it, that's quite different for sure. The chicken tinga taco was quite flavorful and good, decent amount of meat in the tacos. Topped with cotija cheese crumbles. The salsa verde and the house salsa are both good, the hot salsa is good and spicy. The gringo and the pollo were both okay, covered in cheese. Their corn tortilla doesn't hold up so well and rips after your 1st bite of each taco. It would be better if they pan fried them before serving or double them up. I don't know what the hell they gave me for $5.30 but this thing is like the size of a ramekin, does a cup size exist, cause this is absolutely a disgrace. Normally I would have just passed by this place, doesn't look like much from the outside and being in a strip mall, but I do recommend giving this place a try. The menu is not your typical Mexican that you would find in Michigan, they have wide variety of fresh creative items along with some traditional favorites. This place was amazing. We made a reservation for 7 for a birthday and were seated promptly on arrival. The decorations in this restaurant are so cute! It wasn't too loud but this place was popping. I loved the environment. I had a margarita which was yummy. The chimichanga was amazing. Not sure if you can tell by the picture but the portions they give you are crazy. The plates are huge. Really enjoyed our experience here for lunch. We had the best service from Nicole, very attentive and friendly. For lunch we ordered the 2 tacos combo and enchiladas special. For the tacos we chose El Pastor and Birria, both were outstanding. The Pastor had the best fresh roasted pineapple on it! Highly recommend! The Birria was super tasty as well and served with consume. For the Chicken Enchiladas we liked them, I wouldn't say loved them. I don't think anything was wrong with them, just wasn't anything especially unique or noteworthy about them. Each meal came with two sides. We each got tortilla soup and share the rice and beans. The beans were standard but good. The rice was inedible. It was overcooked white rice, gummy and gross. The tortilla soup was really unique, I've never had anything like it. It has fresh corn inside that came right off the cob, loved that. I will say I found it to be a little bland and would have preferred something to jazz it up. Maybe cilantro, pico, crema, seasoning, or something. It definitely has potential. Also I think corn tortilla pieces would be better than the flour it came with. Decent tasting food but the experience was killed with poor service. It's standard Mexican fare, your typical enchiladas platters, burritos, a plethora of tacos to choose from, etc. Good menu selection but pricey for what you get. Chips and salsa are not complimentary, that's a $3 charge. The dishes we ordered were tasty, good enough to say we'd eat it again. Our selections were the steak fajitas which came with a choice of two sides, and the Tampiqueno platter, mixed platter with steak and enchiladas which also came with a choice of two sides. The rest of the dine-in experience was a massive fumble, from a very inexperienced, inattentive server, to inconsistent portions on all the side dishes, to the incorrect bill where there was no offer to correct it even after pointing it out. For the bill, it was only a dollar overcharge but the price on the menu should match the bill. When brought to the server's attention by showing the menu and bill side by side we were told, "Oh well, it's just automatic" and we were given the it's-out-of-my-hands shoulder shrug. It was too late in the evening to argue principle over $1 and we had enough. There are other restaurants which offer a similar menu with same or better taste, complimentary chips and salsa, good service and are less expensive. I am always excited to see a new restaurant with vegan options in the area. It was the main reason my sister and I decided to try out Meshico and I am glad we did! The overall aesthetic is elevated Mexican restaurant, which is done well. Think sombreros on the wall with brightly colored walls and decor but with a more modern feel. It's cute and a fun atmosphere. The food is good but I think really depends on what you order. For starters, the chips, salsa and guacamole are perfection. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, the chips were the perfect level of crispy and I really liked the salsas. Off to a good start and half the fun of a Mexican restaurant is filling up on chips, salsa and guacamole right... or maybe that's just me? Being vegan I've only tried some of the menu but what I have tried has been great. All vegan options are clearly marked which was really convenient and I felt comfortable and confident ordering. The cilantro lime rice is flavorful and compliments the vegan chorizo tacos really well. I am really impressed with the vegan chorizo. Great texture, flavor and they definitely fill up the taco. The nopales taco had a good flavor, just not my personal preference for texture. If you like roasted cactus tacos, I think you'd like this and I am glad to see it's one of their vegan offerings. It's disappointing that there's two bean side options but neither are vegan. Yes, refried beans were traditionally made with lard and animal stock, but it's 2022. There's plenty of vegetarian and vegan customers that it would make sense to use beans everyone can have. And if not that, what are we doing to the black beans that they also aren't vegan? I know beans can taste just as good, if not better, without the animal by-products because I make them at home all the time. I'd much prefer a bean option over fries, while the fries are good, they're not at all what I want with my tacos. There's also no dairy-free dessert, which is a shame. I hear the churros are great and it would have been nice to finish an otherwise great experience off on a sweet note like my sister was able to. I would love to see something like a dairy-free horchata flavored ice cream. Nothing wild, just something to complete the full meal. I know they're still getting going so hopefully this is just the beginning because I really enjoyed my meal and experience here. After having visited during a midday lunch and super busy dinner time, it was refreshing to have great service both times. Restaurants can be pretty hit or miss with service and even during the chaos of the dinner rush all the servers were friendly, happy to help each other when they could and had a smile on. The manager and owner were out helping and it was all just really nice to see. Having worked in restaurants, I know this isn't always the case. I appreciate when management supports their staff and is out talking with customers checking in on things.
