Mesler Kitchen Bar Lounge is a beautiful space tucked inside a nice hotel in Hyde Park. We stopped by for breakfast and the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful which was perfect to start the day. The food did not disappoint: the pancakes were flavorful, the cheese eggs were tasty and the burger was really nice. Overall is a was a nice solid brunch and one i would have again. The space itself has a cozy and welcoming vibe and I really enjoyed the experience. Service was good as well. Our server was attentive, accommodating, and made sure we had everything we needed. Mesler is definitely going on my list of go to spots for both great vibes and good food! I will be back to try other things off the menu.

I did not realize this place was connected to a hotel It seemed upscale with a variety of patrons some appeared to be having a business meeting some families and other working on laptops I ordered a spicy chicken sandwhich & grilled broccolini The broccolinie tasted like rhe grill.. and had a very smokey flavor the chicken sandwhich was fine. It was friedd and tossed in a wet sauce They have multiple espresso martini on the menu I tried the one made with a bana syrup 4/5 Guava margarita 4/5-nice flavor but very light alcohol

I absolutely love and adore the Mesler Kitchen Bar Lounge. It is located in Hyde Park and is attached to the Sophie hotel. There is parking on the street but you have to pay for it. It also may be a bit difficult to find parking because Hyde Park is so busy. The ambience is always so glamorous and upscale. I love the fire place, it's such an added touch. This bar lounge has so much character. The staff are always nice and friendly. When I arrived I was instantly greeted and they sat us. We recover service rather fast and didn't have to wait. The food came out in a good amount of time was delicious. They also have really good drinks. You can't go wrong with any that you order.

I will preface this review by saying this is based on drinks only. I will say this place was packed and I appreciate the host making some space available for us. Our server also provided quick service. I enjoyed the laureate with its fruitful flavors for a whisky drink. However my spouses hibiscus margarita was quite watered down. Also beware the prices shown in menu were not accurate and we were charged more than expected. I think it's a decent place to stop in and grab a drink for Hyde park. 7.5/10

I went yesterday for brunch with friends. Upon entry, there was no host/hostess to greet me. A woman with an apron was leaning on the bar talking to someone who looked at me but then looked away. The bartender had to signal to her to address me after I was standing there a couple minutes. That wasn't great. I found out she was the bartender. We sat in the lobby area because it was a little after one when the dining room closes. It was cute and cozy. I had the chicken and waffles with the espresso mocktail. I really enjoyed the chicken and waffles, but my chicken breast was unevenly cooked. Part was juicy and the other was dried out and tough. It also needed more seasoning. Still, I enjoyed it. The espresso mocktail was not good at all. Also, I waited over 30 minutes for it. It came out after our entrees and I ordered it upon arrival. The server said the bartender was out of an ingredient and needed to go to the storage room to get it. That was a missed opportunity to ask me to order something else sooner or to put the drink on the house for bringing it so late and after my friend had finished her drink. So, the food was good, but not the service. My friend had the vegetarian omelette and said it was great as well.

Came in on a Monday morning, I didn't make reservations. The place looks really nice, there was light music. Plenty of good lighting. We were seated right away; and given a menu and water. The food came out quickly. I really enjoyed my shrimp and grits, it came with smoked sausage and was packed with flavor. It was filling and delicious. My friend ordered the meat lovers omelet. She was surprised it came with a salad.

A neighborhood little gem. Its fairly small and service a bit slow. However, beautiful ambiance and a place to chill or have business meetings. The food is okay but remember its a boutique hotel and not a true restaurant.

Nice restaurant.. Good service.. Good decor... I ordered the burger and fries w/ bacon.. really good burger... It's a smash burger type, so good, a lot of flavor and big portions... I tasted the deviled eggs and i wasn't impressed at all, very underwhelming... Next time I'm in Chicago i will come back here again.

We stopped in before dinner to grab drinks. Staff was very nice, but the menus we were given did not reflect actual/current prices so we were charged significantly more than we expected at the end of the night. My husband enjoyed his drinks, but mine, the hibiscus margarita tasted like water which was disappointing.

Should have been better. I'll stick to happy hour. Sunday brunch was "meh". The posting said jazz brunch but apparently wasn't. YET I LEFT A GREAT TIP

Really enjoyed the ambiance here. Some of the side seating has smaller tables but love the dividing fireplace and the vibes. Evening was giving dim and sexy. Perfect for a date night. Service was great. She was friendly, attentive, and promptly brought anything we requested. I really enjoyed my crab cake and as well as the decorative sauce. My pasta, was divine! Paired perfectly. My dates plate was empty by the end, so it's safe to say he enjoy his meal. We also ordered our drink of choice which did not disappoint. I would definitely come back.

Welcoming decor and atmosphere. This restaurant and bar is connected to a hotel, I believe. Parking is on the street. (If there was a garage I wasn't paying attention lol) I came with a friend for brunch on Sunday. We didn't have a reservation but after checking in with the hostess, we had a quick wait under 10 minutes and then we were seated at a table by the fireplace. There didn't seem to be an abundance of seating in the place, so at its full capacity it's still an aesthetically pleasing space. I ordered the French toast and a side of chicken sausage, with a coffee. The French toast was simple but good. And the chicken sausage was tasty, I wish there were two links served instead of one. I was visiting Chicago when I came but would definitely come back for drinks to see how that atmosphere is.

I'm giving this a zero rating because my experience was absolutely the worst. My friend and I, a party of two, arrived at The Messler on Memorial Day for an early dinner. Despite a slight crowd and plenty of open tables, we waited about four minutes before someone came from behind the bar to seat us by the window. Our waiter asked us to be patient as she was handling a lot of tables, which we were definitely okay with. She came back to take our order, and we reiterated our choices multiple times, as we had already looked at the menu before arriving. Despite this, we waited over an hour for our food. We had to flag her down to check on the status, and it seemed like she was avoiding us. Multiple tables that arrived after us received their food and desserts before us. People at the bar, who arrived after us, also got their food before us. It seemed like a miscommunication or she forgot to put our order in, which is understandable, but she never came back to give us any updates. Our parking expired before we got our food, which was very frustrating. By the time our food arrived, it was time for me to leave. She never came back to check on us, and I had to go to the bar to ask for to-go boxes. To top it off, the food was burnt. While I would love to recommend The Messler, based on this visit, I just cannot and will not be visiting them anytime soon.

Delicious food! Probably my favorite is the Caesar salad because of its unique additions of brioche croutons, grilled corn and avocado.

We chose to dine at Girl & the Goat in Chicago, a restaurant we had never visited before. The acclaimed restaurant by renowned chef Stephanie Izard truly lived up to its stellar reputation! One of the first things we appreciated was the convenience of the restaurant's valet parking, located right by the front patio. At $22 for up to four hours and $26 for four to eight hours, the rates were quite reasonable for the area. As soon as the three of us stepped inside Girl & the Goat (we had made a reservation for 6:30 pm on a Friday), we were warmly greeted by one of the two friendly hostesses, and were promptly led to a comfortable four-top table with a banquette and two chairs along the wall. We felt fortunate to have one of the better tables in the dining room, as some of the others were positioned very close together. The nearby two-top tables, in particular, were quite small and placed only a short distance from ours. The restaurant's rustic-industrial décor was dark but trendy and stylish, the lively and vibrant vibe was warm and welcoming. However, I have to mention that it was really loud in the dining room, as guests seemed to be enjoying themselves and talked loudly.  It was hard to hear our server and the staff who delivered and explained the dishes to us.  Our server, Yazmin, was extremely friendly and attentive.  It was very sweet of her to wish us a happy anniversary both in the beginning  and at the end of the meal.  She also checked in on us several times during the evening.  Now, on to the food and drinks. I started with a glass of the NA Sparkling Rosé ($17), which was light, crisp, and quite refreshing. My husband ordered a glass of Le Colture Prosecco ($18), while our daughter chose the Sun Kid ($18). She enjoyed her drink, although she felt the portion was a bit small, as the glass was filled with a lot of ice that took up much of the space. Since the restaurant offers small to medium plates which are shareable, Yazmin advised us to get 5 to 6 dishes for 3 people to share.  We decided to get 5 savory dishes and 3 desserts to share: Savory dishes: - Chickpea Fritters ($20), goat yogurt, green chutney, sev spice crunch, pickled rhubarb. - Pan Roasted Halibut ($37), miso-Marcona almond butter, spring onion blueberry nuoc cham. - Roasted Pig Face ($28), sunny side egg, tamarind, cilantro, red wine-maple, potato stix. - Goat Empanadas ($24), smoked tomato-corn salsa, roasted poblano crema queso fresco. - Confit Goat Belly ($38), strawberry goat braise, smoked yogurt drizzle, pickled strawberries. Desserts: - Vacation, Please! ($16), toasted coconut crunch, lemon passion fruit sorbet, rum-soaked pineapple cake. - Berry Yummy Par-tea ($16), earl grey soaked sponge cake, yuzu curd, spiced blackberries. - Chocolate Basil Brownie Bash ($16), olive oil semifreddo, chocolate fennel crunch, basil granita. The meal was just phenomenal!  All the savory dishes were cooked perfectly with bold flavors; the meats were tender and full of flavors.  There were dishes that we normally would not have ordered if we saw them on menus of other restaurants.  Here, we tried them and were delighted that we did!  Our consensus is that Roasted Pig Face is our most favorite! It is everything we love in a comfort dish -- crispy on the outside, meltingly tender inside, and packed with rich, balanced flavor.  We will definitely order this again!  The Confit Goat Belly is a close second, with buttery, fall-apart meat and just the right balance of richness, acidity, and crunch. For dessert, "Vacation, Please!" is the one that we will always come back for. The toasted coconut crunch adds texture, the lemon passion fruit sorbet brings a refreshing tang, and the rum-soaked pineapple cake ties it all together with just the right amount of sweetness.  The other two desserts that we ordered were also very good.  The staff even brought out a scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream on the house, with two lit candles to celebrate our anniversary - a thoughtful touch that made the evening even more memorable.  This dessert spread was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. I'd like to mention that the restaurant added a 4% surcharge to the bill, which the customer may request to have the surcharge remove if you choose.  We let them keep it. We spent about two hours at the restaurant. The savory dishes came out very quickly, the pace probably was even a tad too fast, but the desserts made up for it by taking a longer time.  We did not mind as we were still full, and had time to enjoy the ambiance more.  I would say it is a restaurant great for group gathering and celebratory functions, but not so much for intimate romantic date night.  All in all, it was a wonderful dinner, we look forward to returning again.

We each only had a couple of bites left, but it definitely gave off an "okay, you're done now" vibe. Then he went to take the green beans (arguably the cult classic on the menu), and we still had more than half of them left. I had to stop him and say, "Yeah, we're not done with those. We paid for them. Can you put them in a to-go box instead?" For context, it was about 20 minutes before closing, but we ordered with plenty of time and were already eating with a "get in, eat, and get out" mindset. I've just never had someone at a restaurant start clearing plates while we were still actively eating--without asking, "Are you finished?" "Can I clear this?" or "Would you like a to-go box?" It was just... "You're done, these are leaving now." We were there for less than 45 minutes, left about 15 minutes before closing, and spent over $200 (not including the tip). With so many options in Chicago, I don't see myself coming back here.

The food came out pretty quick and was hot and ready to eat. All of our food was good well and we all enjoyed our dishes. My only takeaway would be if guests ordered bottled water and/or champagne, the waitress should poor them into the glasses for you. From my experience, this is something that I thought was a norm. After we sat down, our server took her sweet time getting to us and was largely absent the entire visit while the servers for the others tables were attentive and present as I've come to expect. We started with the Crispy Brussels and Burrata Toast which was an amazing and fun combination of flavors textures with the sherry glaze and pickled onions providing a perfect counter to the richness of the cheese. Our second course was the Gage Caesar which we've had before and have enjoyed sharing multiple times, but this time the lettuce was full of grit as if the prep chef did not even bother washing the lettuce. The server never came by to check on us so I had to wave the manager to complain about the salad. The server also never checked to see if we wanted refills on our cocktails so we placed our orders with the manager. The final dish was the venison burger which was perfectly cooked and seasoned if you like venison, which I do so we enjoyed that greatly. The condiments that came with it were perfectly matched to balance the game of the meat and the fries were perfect as usual! The server then FINALLY got more involved with our dinner and was predictably perky and present at the end, something that always irks me when they have been otherwise absent for the meal. The ONLY reason they are getting 3 stars instead of less for this visit was the flavor of the food and the response of the manager in dealing with the lack of service (and the gritty salad). I would give the initial server a zero if I could.
