My husband brought me back food from this restaurant during a trip to Chicago, and I was honestly impressed even as leftovers. I got to try the jerk lamb chops, which were absolutely scrumptious and packed with flavor. The mac and cheese was rich and comforting, and the Trinity Rolls were an explosion of flavor in every bite. I really liked them. If the food tasted this amazing after traveling and being reheated, I can only imagine how incredible it is when served fresh. It definitely made me want to plan a trip to experience the restaurant for myself. My husband said the atmosphere was super chill while still having a fun, high energy vibe. The only downside he mentioned was that the service wasn't the best the night he visited. Even so, based on the food alone, this place is high on my list of restaurants to try in person.

We came here for a birthday celebration. This restaurant is located in a busy area downtown Chicago and has valet parking for $20. They wont seat you until your full party has arrived. We were waiting on 1 person but they also were about 25 minutes behind on reservations. The space is massive and also has an upstairs. They have a dress code policy on their website, however many people were not following it- they were wearing crocs or tank tops and were still allowed to dine. We were seated upstairs at a hightop table which had bar stools. They did not have a back on the stool- it was like a low bar and some didn't have a bar below to put your feet on. They felt cheap and uncomfortable. It was also loud, which didn't bother me. They dont have menus but QR code to scan. Their prices are really high. A drink is between $21-40 typically. We all got a drink- I got the blackberry margarita. It was good but not worth $21. Our server was really nice and gave us a free shot and a free appetizer. The peach dusse slushie is really good but I didn't want to pay $40 for the full drink. We also got the shrimp deviled eggs for free. I got the fried catfish and grits with a side of black eyed peas for my meal. It was crispy and very flavorful. If I was just rating on the taste alone of the food it would be much higher however the decor, ambiance, pricing etc lowered it. I would try the food again but maybe carryout. Overall 3/5.

Food was great! It was a little expensive for what you get, but everything was nice. Service started a little rocky but improved throughout the meal.

Always looking for food with flavor- and this place definitely has that and so much more. Beautiful ambiance, friendly staff and some of the best soul food and drinks in Chicago. So glad we made it here tonight. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for flavors that will make your mouth happy!

This was underwhelming. I ordered salmon Caesar salad medium rare and got well done. Dressing overwhelmed the salad. Served in a bowl that was too deep for the dish. Bathrooms not well maintained. The oyster appetizer was delicious. Service very slow, took 15 minutes for a server to approach my table after I was seated. The hostess noticed and had to call them over. The restaurant was not busy.

My daughter and I stopped in at Kitchens + Kocktails for some happy hour hopping on a Friday night. Kitchen + Kocktails is conveniently located right next to the House of Blues in downtown Chicago. Upon entry, you immediately note how large the establishment is and how it's beautifully decorated (you know the girlies LOVE a flower wall for pictures). My daughter and I sat at the bar. We ordered a couple rounds of their Pink blush cocktail. I don't know if it was a weak drink or just masked very well but it was delicious however too easy to drink which gave me "where's the liquor??" feels. We were greeted by the bartender Allen, who was wonderful. After going over a few of his recommendations, my daughter and I decided on catfish strips, collard greens dip and fried pickles. I did not care for both the catfish strips and the collard greens dip. The fried pickles were perfectly seasoned and delicious. We ended up meeting some lovely sisters at the bar who ordered the shrimp deviled eggs and they allowed us to try one. They were very good! Great music, great vibes and good food. It's a nice establishment and a nice addition to the downtown area but I wasn't blown away about the food. I don't need to return but I encourage everyone to experience Kitchen and Kocktails.

Food was good. Hot portions could have been bigger for the price. The service seemed judgmental and slow to start. Looking back I'm not sure they wanted us there. The ambiance was nice over all. The bathroom was broken, sadly. The only thing I probably would not buy again would be the green fried tomatoes the breading on the tomato lacked seasoning and the breading didn't not soak up the flavor of the sauce surprisingly, but the shrimp on top was delicious! The catfish was delicious but the lemon pepper and hot sauce both cost extra you only receive a small sample cup size of hot sauce and the lemon pepper was not the traditional seasoning so I was a bit thrown off. The Mac and cheese and the sweet potatoes were great! I was also shocked that for two people they added automatic gratuity, I almost tipped twice by accident but then I saw that. It is expensive for the portions and lack luster service. Great catfish! I still think I prefer soul vibez.

UPDATE: I was contacted by the General Manager, Candice Phillips. Very professional, compassionate and empathetic. This issue was handled in a matter of minutes, as it should have been yesterday. I hope if anyone had to experience what I went through, there is someone like GM Phillips to resolve it. Keep up the great work, I wish you well. *********************************************************** Insane! The pictures depict how my order arrived. I made several attempts...hours to resolve this issue with the manager, Jayda, to no avail. I paid $151.00 utilizing the Toast app that the restaurant use for 3rd party delivery. Jayda gave me options, call Uber Eats or order another meal for $151.00. I contacted Uber Eats, they could not help me because the order was submitted via the restaurant's Toast POS system which dispatched Uber Eats to deliver. The guy I spoke to wondered why I was calling and not the restaurant. He was even irritated at the fact that I was told to call them and wasn't given an Order ID number. He was happy to refund my money right away but was not able to do so because he needed the Order ID number from the check details of the restaurant's POS Toast system. All of this madness started at 3:30 P.M. and has continued. Before writing this review I tried to resolve this. It's now 10:30 P.M., and still no help from Jayda. I tried calling Toast Customer Service, after 2 hours they realized I was not from the restaurant and said they could not provide me with the Order ID number from the restaurant's Toast POS system. I called back to the restaurant to provide Jayda with the information I received from Uber Eats and Toast. Jayda went on to tell me there was nothing she could do and to email her boss. I am not sure if I received the correct email address from her. On five separate occasions I called to try and get the Order ID number, the employees left me on hold, or told me Jayda said to email her boss, or they would hang up on me. They would not stay on the phone long enough for me to relay the message Toast and Uber Eats gave me. At one point, an employee Mary, said she packed the food herself and was confident all of the lids were secure. I reassured her my issue was not with the restaurant about how the food arrived, it clearly looked like it was dropped or knocked around during transit. All I need is the Order ID number from the 3rd party check details for Uber Eats from their Toast POS system so that Uber Eats could refund me. This is something Jayda could have taken care of immediately because the order was submitted via their Toast POS system and not directly with Uber Eats. I am so disappointed, not only because I did not get to try the food, but more importantly how I have been treated. I am still without my money. I did not want to write this review but I feel I have no choice at this point. I do not want the food or freebies, I just want my money.

To begin with, the customer service here was not the greatest. Our server, Jordan, started off well, but once we received our bill, things quickly went downhill. Moreover, there were multiple mistakes with our order I had asked for the hot honey chicken bites, but was instead given the regular version that wasn't part of the happy hour menu. Furthermore, my boyfriend ordered the deviled eggs topped with shrimp, and he was also charged the regular price instead of the happy hour price. In addition, we spoke to the manager to resolve the issue, but the only thing they were able to reimburse was the already included tip, which was honestly disappointing considering the errors. On the bright side, the food and drinks did come out very quickly, which we appreciated. On top of that, the food itself was delicious and full of flavor. The pineapple margaritas were especially good and definitely a highlight of the visit. Overall, while the food and drinks were great, the service and billing issues left a bad impression.

OMG, This place is beautifully decorated. It has a balcony. They except reservations and walk-ups. They have a hugh bar area. There are 2 bars. The bar has tv's around them. The staff is well dressed and attentive. They have a photographer who walks around to take photos. There $28 and come with a glass frame. They have a great drink selection and wine. This is a perfect date night restaurant. Only drawback is the prices. Very expensive, so save your money or bring the credit card with the high limit. The food was fresh and hot, except for my wife's greens. They left off my mac&cheese but our server Marlon was on it and made it right. They do offer complimentary shots. My wife drank both. She said they were great, lol. The only issue I had with the food was that my Southern Fried Chicken was TOOOOO SALTY. I was able to eat the drumstick, but left the thigh. Other than that, it was great. A Must Visit when in Chicago.

Trinity egg rolls, catfish bites, Dream Eggs w/ Blackened Shrimp, ceasar salad during happy hour
    Clara S.

Good happy hour deals at the bar until 7 on weekdays. We took advantage of this and tried a couple of items off the happy hour menu. The place is definitely an interesting vibe, but the service was great - I love how the slogan is 'welcome home'. The pineapple margarita was refreshing, and the passionfruit cocktail off the happy hour menu was also good but a little too sweet. The catfish bites were a little salty but not bad. The trinity egg rolls were tasty and a unique appetizer with sweet potato and creamed corn inside. The blackened shrimp on the deviled eggs was flavorful. The ceasar salad was huge and tasty with interesting sweeter croutons. The cuisine is southern and definitely on the heavier side, so most items were fried and rich so you'd have to be in the mood for that kind of food to dine here.

Kitchen & Kocktails absolutely understood the assignment for our girls' night out. I had visited their previous Chicago location years ago for a birthday, and while that space was beautiful, this new location? Next level. The ambiance is stunning -- upscale, vibrant, and perfect for celebrations or a dressed-up night with your friends. It feels luxe without being pretentious. Let's get into the food because that's what really matters. Drinks: We ordered the Patron tower, which comes with four different flavors and more than enough tequila to jumpstart the evening. Proceed at your own risk (in the best way). It was fun, interactive, and perfect for the vibe we were going for. Appetizers: The Collard Green Dip immediately stood out. Think elevated spinach and artichoke dip but with real depth and flavor. I would genuinely order that weekly if I could. And the Fried Salmon Bites? Whew. Perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, tender inside. No notes. Main Courses: The Hot Honey Chicken delivered exactly what it promised -- flavorful with just the right kick. I ordered the catfish with mac and cheese and yams, and every single item hit. The catfish was seasoned well and fried to perfection. The mac and cheese was creamy and rich, and the yams balanced everything with a subtle sweetness. Comfort food done right. And I have to shout out our server, Kenya. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The kind of service that makes you want to return and sit in her section again. Between the elevated Southern menu, the gorgeous aesthetic, strong drinks, and top-tier service, Kitchen & Kocktails delivered a full experience -- not just a meal. I'll absolutely be back. If you're looking for a place in Chicago that can host a celebration and actually match the energy, this is it.

To-Go Frozen D'Usse. Cute drink but don't expect to feel any kind of buzz after drinking it.

Favorite dipping sauce included the pimento mayo, chimichurri, and garlic butter. The cheese fondue is quite rich and the bread is quite filling so maybe get as much cheese as you can on each piece of bread. The chocolate fondue, I think is actually the best course as the Belgium chocolate melts so well and has a decadent but not overly sweet flavor. It pairs well with all that is provided for dipping, which includes poundcake, rice Krispies, strawberries. They also have some liquor that they light on fire at first so you can roast the marshmallows. It is such a well thought out experience. Our server informed us that normally the whole table had to order off of the RW menu if one person does, but said she would check with the kitchen since this was the last day of RW. Luckily, we were able to proceed with ordering from different menu's. FOOD I ordered a raspberry Cosmopolitan. I'm a Riesling/Moscato girlie, but I tasted the Riesling and didn't like it. RW dinner was priced at $60. I ordered: First Course: Caesar Salad (Typical salad, was good) Second Course: Mussels (Tasted fine, came with a baguette) Third Course: Short Rib (Could've been slightly more tender and better seasoned. I've definitely had better. Wouldn't order again.) Fourth Course: Orange Ricotta Donuts (Donuts were very good. Three were served, a few more would have been more filling.) My friend ordered a glass of Pinot Noir and: Truffle Fries (Fries were very tasty. I would order again if I went back.) Beef Wellington (The breading was buttery and very good. The beef could've been more seasoned. I wouldn't order.) Key Lime Pie (Was not sweet and had no taste. When our server came back and saw it was uneaten, she offered to take it off the bill. It should be removed from the menu altogether.) The busboys and server were very attentive. Our water glasses were always filled. OVERALL The atmosphere was nice, our server was great. Of all the food we ordered, I would order the truffle fries and Cosmopolitan again. I did leave full and did take my leftover Short Rib to go. Main dishes needed more seasoning. I would dine here again and try a different menu (brunch/lunch), or Happy Hour if they offer it.

Loved everything. Delicious really great foods. Group of four, zero complaints. The service was on…read morepoint. Nice wine pour. Bright fun atmosphere. I thought for the quality and portions and fair prices this is a really great choice. Looking forward to returning.
