I would like to note that there are inaccurate reviews here that are not only unfair but should get taken down by Yelp. His price per square footage is clearly stated. I over estimated the size of the rug I needed cleaned and when he picked it up he measured it and reissued a new invoice that reflected a LOWER PRICE. It's simply about the math and math doesn't lie. First off, his prices were already lower than alot of the other unfair quotes I was getting. He was friendly, prompt on pickup and very professional. It's ridiculous that it needs to be said, why would you be surprised that your bill went up if your rugs were much bigger than you told them? Maybe they are upset by their own mistake? Maybe they are upset because they didn't get away with paying for a small cleanup on a big job? Who knows. Anyway Harry, don't sweat the crazy people who can't do simple math. Keep on doing what you're doing! Whenever I do business with new people I always overestimate. The best people always correct my mistake and give me my money back. What's fair is fair. As a kid who grew up in a house that was wall to wall persian rugs, i know a lil bit about rugs. When i bought my own house, I wanted a nice large persian rug of my own. I walked into Harry's store about 5 years ago and he's very low key and informative without sounding condenscending. I didnt feel the least bit of pressure to buy anything but his selection was diverse and i found what i liked. The price was reasonable as well. Over the last 5 years i've had Harry wash the rug 2x. I visited this store yesterday to shop for rugs and also have a rug cleaned. I can't recommend this store more highly. The shop owner is polite, extremely knowledgeable and experienced and not pushy in sales at all. Basically, he knows what he's doing and knows that it does not pay to be pushy! Especially when it comes to high ticket items you will be living with day in and day out. These rugs are an investment. I have not bought any new rugs yet and plan to take my time, but I feel comfortable coming here for more information, more browsing, until I am ready. If you are a discerning consumer, and demand high quality service and care for the things that make your home beautiful and livable, you absolutely must use Messerian Rugs for cleaning and also repair. Here's why: Harry cleaned 2 very high quality (1 Persian 6x3' Bokara and 1 Afghan 14' X 3' runner), hand made and dyed wool rugs. I also brought in 1 machine made Persian but very large and in moderate shape. He gave me a great price to clean all three, and the company provides full service (careful vacuum, gentle clean and touch up, lay flat air dry), all of which takes several days. I also had a few small repairs that were more "nice to haves." Harry pointed out what repairs would be optional, and offered to repair several fraying ends and loose bindings. The repairs were of phenomenal quality, and were extremely affordable, I ended up doing all the nice to have repairs, things like re-stiching, etc.. because the price was so affordable. Before I left, I asked Harry which type of rug pads I should be using. Here's an example of why Messerian Rugs is customer oriented and not sales oriented: He didn't jump all over the opportunity to sell me a pad, but instead asked me what I was using right now, how worn out they were, and if I liked the cushion and how it held the rug in place... I ended up getting 2 new pads (at a great price), and Harry convinced me to keep one old pad rather than spend the money for a new one just yet. Personally, I am on a tight budget, but I also take very good care of my high quality rugs, furniture and things like that. You can probably find a cheaper price, but it wont be by much, and Harry will not cut corners. He can also educate you on what your rug is, how long it should last, how to spot clean at home, etc... Can the commercial franchise guy do that? no. Oh, the other thing is he's got hundreds of beautiful Persian, Afghan, Turkish, etc... rugs for sale as well, as I believe he is also a rug dealer. From what I could tell they are very reasonable prices, but as I said I am on a tight budget and I like to buy second hand or estate sale rugs and have pros like Harry fix them up. So, he's got a great rug shop as well, but I can't comment on that much beyond that I would love to buy one someday when my budget expands! read more

I'm so glad I found Messerian Rugs. When I guessed the sizes of my rugs, Harry said 'something's wrong. Those aren't normal sizes'. I was pretty sure I found an expert. He and his assistant came to my house within an hour. He was able to tell me the origin of my rugs. He cut new pads for them and worked with me on the delayed delivery date. He brought two assistants who worked quickly and carefully to get the rugs put into place. I am extremely happy with my experience at Messerian rugs. I am young and my Grandmother, who is 90, has collected rugs her whole life. She gifted me a handmade Hamadan rug that she bought almost 70 years ago in Germany. I immediately became hooked on Oriental Rugs after that. I am enamored by them and plan to continue to collect them for the rest of my life. That said, I picked up a second rug that is from Istanbul. It's 2' x 3', in pristine condition and made of silk. It's worth a lot of money and I want to hang it on my wall. I'm not willing to walk all over such a beautiful piece of art. I had no idea how to go about hanging the rug on my wall, because the last thing I want to do is damage it with a hanging device. So I came to Yelp and found Messerian rugs. When I entered, the owner Harry was attentive and asked me how he could help. I explained my situation and he recommended that a piece of material be sewn across the back of it, so I can use a rod to hang it later. I was a little nervous because I was afraid there would be damage to my rug, but since Harry was obviously an expert, I took his recommendation. One week later I picked up my rug and the piece on the back not only works perfectly, but it actually looks nice. I know nobody will see it, since it will be on the back of the rug while it's hanging, but for some reason it actually looks pretty. The color of it even matches the rug. So, we took it to Mr. Messerian to get it repaired; 2 weeks later, the repair (hand weaving with different colors plus the addition of fringe) was ready for pick-up. The finished work was amazing!! My husband and I literally could not tell where the repair began and ended. The fringed edge looked undamaged. And the price was very reasonable. He told me how old the carpets were and what region they were from. The price was excellent.
