One stood out above the rest: I received a message from Dorian of The Dry Carpet Cleaner, who took the time to ask detailed questions about the project. We connected by phone and he offered to come by the same day to take a look. Dorian arrived with his grandfather, who is a veteran floor covering pro. Both of them were personable, patient, and Pasadena-folks like me. Instant rapport, for sure. They took a few measurements, showed me a couple of samples, and within a few minutes, we agreed on a carpet and a color. Dorian offered me a written estimate, and I wrote a check for half to get the carpet ordered. Turns out a lot of carpet gets shipped from Georgia, so we half-joked with Dorian, "If you can get this in for us by Christmas Eve, you're our hero." Over the next week or so, Dorian kept me updated regularly by text and phone on the status of our carpet order, and before we knew it, the date for drop-off and installation had arrived. I wanted to give this dry method a whirl, so we would not have soggy carpet for two days. My call was picked up immediately, booked, and Dorian arrived exactly on time! It's a very interesting method! The cleaning solution is sprayed on the surface of the carpet, then eco friendly, plant based, biodegradable foam 'sand' is sprinkled on the carpet. A brush machine massages the foam particles in, and the foam absorbs the dirt and cleaning solution back up. The machine vacuums the particles back up, and voila, clean carpets!! I was a tad skeptical it could possibly work, but, IT DID My cream colored carpet is refreshed and grime free. The very light amount if moisture left in the carpet dried within an hour (so in in the interest of disclosure, this is not a completely moisture-free system). I was pleased that the cleaning solution only had a faint, non-overwhelming fragrance, that dissipated completely by next day -- as I'm not a fan of fragrances. Today, I did go over my carpets with my vacuum to give them 'a fluffing up' and it looks/feels terrific underfoot!
