Saw their booth at the Hawaii Tattoo Expo and they had great prices for what I wanted to get so I decided to get my third lobes and mid helix done. First off, EXTREMELY unorganized. All of their jewelry was stored in plastic containers where the employees were just digging through, without gloves (SO unsanitary), to find the jewelry that the customers wanted. I wanted titanium flat backs because I'm allergic to sterling silver and I don't heal well if it is pierced with steel. The girl who pierced me looked through all the containers before finding 3 gold colored titanium flat backs with silver colored titanium ball toppers. The piercing process started out okay, she cleaned off the area, although not very thoroughly, and marked where she was going to pierce and let me see before she started the process. I don't think they sterilized the jewelry before they pierced me either, even though different, ungloved, employees were digging around in the jewelry boxes just before. She opened a new needle and started on my lobes, these were pretty smooth. The biggest issue came when she started on my mid helix. Told me take a deep breath and she pushed the needle through, then went to guide the jewelry in, but could only get it HALFWAY. I heard her whisper "oh shoot" under her breath before proceeding to try multiple times to push the jewelry all the way through. She asked the other guy, Jay, for help and they both stood there pushing my ear around for a solid 3 minutes before the jewelry was fully through. It was a while before the piercing was done, I could feel the blood on my ear slipping around while he essentially tried to repierce it with the jewelry. Neither of them used a clamp, or even a tube to catch the needle as it went through to the other side, just used their hands which I could feel were slipping off my ear. To top it all off, my mom told me after that they used the same needle for all three of my piercings, super unsanitary! I've gotten thick cartilage piercings done before this (rook, nostril, helix) and I have NEVER had an experience like this. I will not be coming back here, not even for my jewelry changes. The only good thing I would say about this experience was that the lady at the front was polite and friendly, and the girl who pierced me was also nice, I just wish the process of the actual piercing was a bit cleaner and smoother. I hope nobody else has an experience like this, and I hope my piercings don't get infected. read more

Long story short: Just about 20 minutes before going to this place, I already got my belly poked by another tattoo shop, they gave up because I was " rejecting " so they said maybe I can't get it today. WELL MY DAY WAS NOT ABOUT TO BE RUINED. Plus I did NOT want to give up my adrenaline on getting my belly pierced so I came here from scrolling through yelp. So let me just tell you how much of a help and comforting the owners are ( seems to me they are a couple ). I told them the situation that I already have an initial hole before I came here and made sure I want to get a hole again and I said YES like right away. The owner did my septum piercing - he was really communicative and easy to talk to. I had forgotten to eat a bigger meal before getting pierced, so I got lightheaded and nauseous after the fact. He was really kind about it and immediately got me two little lollipops and a little cup of POG to bring up my blood sugar again. If you need a place with superb customer service, METALink Piercings is your place! My daughter asked to pierce her helix (top portion of her ears). After learning that the gun is actually not that safe (how we pierced her regular lobes), I asked a friend for a recommendation as I knew she took her daughter to somewhere that used the needle. I contacted METALink with some questions via Yelp and they got back to me quickly. During the consultation and choosing of the earrings, they explained that we could call/text them anytime if there were any concerns after the piercings. The piercing was so fast that I missed seeing the needle go in (maybe for the better). For minors, they need parental consent. They will make a copy of your license to attach to the paperwork. For those old enough to know, they are in the building of the old Arakawa's. Park in the lot in front. There is a free parking but it was a bit crowded when we went midday on the weekend. read more

*** update: As you can see from Jay's response, he's a cool dude. It very well could have been a miscommunication between us, so I cannot completely fault him. I didn't want a big, thick hoop. I would've been ok with with a big, thinner one. I wanted it to look like the hoop when all the way around my ear ridge (ending point not obviously visible). So where it was pierced would not have been able to provide that's. Moral of the story, make sure you're very clear when telling your piercer what you want.*** This will be a long review, because I want to be fair and thorough. I found Metalink by searching Yelp. I wanted to find a place that had good ratings and Metalink definitely has that. They are located on the 2nd floor of the building, but easy to find if you follow directions they provide. When you walk in to Metalink, the only indication that it is a piercing place is the small selection of jewelry in a display case. It looks more like a collectible shop. Maybe they do both? If that's the case, it doesn't look like piercing is the main gig. They also have a very friendly shop cat that walks around. The woman behind the counter was super friendly. My friend and I went to get our conchs pierced. Originally we asked about getting the piercing done with hoops, but we were told that it's best not to. The piercing area was in a small side room. The piercer, Jay, drew 2 dots inside of my conch and let me choose which one that I wanted. Jay seemed pretty knowledgeable. He explained every thing that he was doing before he did it. I chose one that was more of an outer conch. The piercing itself was painful. He made mention that my cartilage was very thick. He put the flat back earring in. The after care instructions we received was to wash it with anti-bacterial soap twice a day. The piercing ended on top of the cartilage and continued to be painful. My ear was also a bit red and swollen. I assumed it was normal. I know there are a dozen different ways that an ear can be pierced, but what I received didn't seem like a conch piercing. After a couple days, I went to a different piercing place to get a 2nd opinion. The piercers there were shocked at what they saw. They explained that the location of the piercing is not considered the conch at all and it would be extremely difficult to heal, if at all. The sides of the flat back was digging into the side of my ear. They also noticed that the type of jewelry used was too small to accommodate any kind of swelling and ran a high probability of getting imbedded. They highly recommended that I remove the piercing, which I ended up doing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend going here; however, maybe it was a fluke? No one is perfect, but it was an expensive lesson learned for me. read more

I've been wanting to get my nose pierced for the longest time and with covid and having to wear a mask at work, I decided it was time. I called the business number and was instructed to come right in. It was a Saturday afternoon and upon arrival, I noticed a handful of people waiting in the area fronting the shop which was a good thing to me, more people means they are popular and do a good job. I signed a waiver, paid and picked the type of piercing I wanted. I went with the surgical steel vs gold, as I wanted a dainty look, not a big bulging piercing. Jay (piercer) and the other lady (didn't catch her name) were soooo nice!! I got really nervous right before getting the piercing and Jay reassured me that I'll mostly feel like he was stuffing his finger up my nose. Lol. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. They gave me postop instructions and told me to call the number any time if anything comes up. And guess what... something came up. ‍ turns out I was allergic to the surgical steel. I called METALink as my piercing started bleeding spontaneously after 3 weeks. Jay told me to come back so he could check things out. I went back and Jay advised me to replace the piercing with gold or titanium as it looks like I was having an allergic reaction. He replaced it for a discounted cost and gave me new post care instructions. So thankful they still take care after the initial piercing. I definitely recommend METALink piercing!! read more

I'm no stranger to piercings, having gotten one in my younger years as well as having the obligatory teenage pierced ears. I contacted the shop through their business page, and the owner recognized me as we had worked with each other in the past. Jay is an astounding and awesome dude. He responded to my message on Instagram almost immediately, and answered all my questions regarding the piercing and the process. I planned to do a walk in the following week which is pretty awesome as it leaves me to come in on a pretty open schedule. I arrive to METALink Piercings the following week, which is located in the Waipahu Plantation Marketplace. The parking was pretty open so there was no issue in that at all. I get to the shop which is located on the second floor, and am greeted by Alicia, who is so sweet! She really took the time to answer every question I had, and was very welcoming and comforting, as I was honestly nervous about getting the piercing! So I called one evening because I had wanted to get the snake bite piercing for a long time and I had the $ to be able to do it right then. So I called, although they were closed they stayed open and when I got there they were so awesome! Right away they were very personable and fun to talk with and interesting. They make your experience unbelievably easy and any concerns you have will be addressed or answered. I think they have the Aloha spirit; where you almost feel like you're Ohana when you walk in there. When you do, your going to possibly love all the interesting collectibles! This review was based solely on my experience with them when I accidentally took out my newly pierced tragus piercing while I was cleaning it, (not pierced by them) and could not put it back in. On a Friday night, I was cleaning my tragus piercing and decided to take the ball out to get a better clean--don't ever do this btw!! All of a sudden, my finger slipped and pushed the piercing out on the other side. With my heart beating so fast, I fished it out of my ear and tried to put it back in but to no avail. Freaking out, I kept trying til I just couldn't anymore. I decided to stick it in from the front, just to hold the spot and try calling places to see if they can put it back in for me. Since Metalink was closest to me, I decided to give them a call the next day. I was so excited and relieved they had openings. They were able to put the piercing back in and gave me some tips on aftercare since there was a bump forming on both ears. Needless to say, their tip worked and I am bump free thanks to Jay. So, my 12 years old asked for a nose piercing. And this piercing shop made it happen after we called all the piercing shops. She was super happy. They answered all our questions and concerns. Jay did an amazing job with keeping her calm and was quick. I had my nose pierced many years ago and took it out. Jay looked at it and reopened it without having to use a needle. Just needed to be stretched out. So my daughter and I both left with piercings in our nose. The experience and knowledge was amazing!! They even offered to call them even during non-business hours if we had concerns. What!! Who does that? They do! My daughter and I are super happy that we have matching piercings.
