Innovative and effective workout!…read more Orangetheory is not your ordinary gym. Using minimal machinery (treadmill, rowing machine, and a weight floor) you go through a self monitored series of workouts through the instructing of a coach who manages all three groups at a time. I went to the last class on Friday, power focused. My coach was Abby and she was incredibly knowledgeable while motivating everyone to do their personal best. I was first pretty intimidated by the intensity of the workouts and especially since they're all done in groups, but the unique idea of being able to watch exactly what your workout is doing to your body in real time is just awesome. There's a central monitor that updates your progress based on a monitor you wear during the workout. This intimidated me at first, but the atmosphere was so incredibly positive and welcoming and honestly everyone is so focused on their personal progress to judge yours. The entire team (Abby, Megan, and Ellie) did their best to encourage you to do whatever YOU can and to not compare yourself to the next person which was so relaxing. The facility was very well kept and my only critique is that the workout space in between the rowing and treadmill is a bit small, making it a little difficult to do the exercises there, but a quick step to the side fixes that easily. All in all I love this place and am so happy to start my membership!

The facility itself was nice and the reception staff was friendly and customer service-oriented. I walked in about 10 minutes before class. There was one person in the lobby and the receptionist was on the phone. She was so busy answering the questions of the person the phone, that by the time she addressed me to fill out newbie paperwork and pay for the class, I ended up being late. She was still talking to the potential customer on the phone. This review is based on the Sunday Zumba Class at 3:00pm. While I personally did not enjoy the class and probably would not take another Zumba class at Chrome, I am open to trying the facility again for a pole dancing class for the novelty. It's also their specialty and I have a feeling that it reflects in all their fitness classes. The classes (all) are not cheap and neither is membership, so I suggest you try a class or two before committing to a membership or class pass. Have you ever taken a Zumba class? Have you mastered Zumba moves to the advanced or expert level? Have you taken years of dance and can quickly catch on to a complex string of steps/turns that repeat maybe 3-4 times per song? Can you read minds so that you know when the instructor will change steps or direction without hand signals or verbal cues? Are you in top physical shape with no current(or remnants of past injuries, especially knee) issues? Can you handle a high impact, high energy class without a warm-up routine that ramps up in energy/impact or any slower intermediary routines (for at least 45 minutes)? If you answered "NO" to any of these questions, this class is not for you! I, by no means, would not call myself a Zumba beginner, but I am in no way an expert either. This class is not for those with physical issues of any kind (especially knee issues), even if you have experience in modifying moves. In the hundreds of Zumba classes I have taken, this was the class I enjoyed the least...so much so that I walked out before the class ended. Correction, I limped out. Though I modified moves (at least those steps I could follow), there were so many turns and direction changes that my knee couldn't take it. Oh well, lesson learned.

I am a 55 year old female who has always been active and athletic until I was about 47 years old…read more About that time i I started a business that was very sedentary that took up all of my spare time I used to use to workout. When I came to Steve (who knew me when I was young and fit) he gave me a thorough "assessment" which was done with computers, heart monitors and a stationary bike. It measured not only your weight, measurements and body fat, but measured my "chronological age" as well. That is basically the age my body "felt" ...which was 70!!! I was naturally totally blown away, yet at the same time not surprised... It's the age I felt! I described feeling vulnerable, hopeless and depressed at the condition my body was in -30 pounds overweight . I was not only overweight but from a high school hamstring injury and sitting so much, my hamstring would not fire so my other hamstring started "over-compensating" (as he called it) making me one time fall flat on my face with no advanced warning - both of my legs completely gave out! Every time I tried to workout at other places I would get injured, it was like a domino effect. One day my knee would hurt, the next my hip and a few weeks later my ankle. All the other trainers I went to got frustrated and I felt I was to blame. Only since going to Hoffacker did I start to feel younger and feel my "chronological age" reverse. In fact for awhile I tried going to another trainer (that was less expensive) once I was stabilized and felt stronger only to end up re-injured again. For me Hoffacker is not an option it's a lifestyle I will not give up. It's expensive but the best investment I could be making right now - I really feel I am "aging successfully" and that is something that is worth every penny. When you think of how much money we waste on other less important things, this is well worth it. I really have no choice in the matter! Love Steve and his caring staff! I've worked out with four different people including Steve and got excellent results with each one and I don't care who I go to . They are all good, all trained in "The Hoffacker Method." I told him my main goal was to be active till well into my 90's and not have to have hip or knee replacement. "Pay now or pay later! "

I have firmed up, gained confidence, and learned to love exercise. Lauren and Hoffacker's is worth every bit of what I pay; I did not buy a package but pay by session; I believe I am truly getting a bargain and highly recommend them to anyone who desires individual expert, supportive, non-boot camp screaming type - training in a private setting!

I have been exposed to the best of the best in Las Vegas (Lifetime Fitness) and Pure (Hong Kong) over many years. I am a gym rat and thus kind of a spoiled gym rat at that. But my Midwestern roots coupled with knowing it does not take fancy equipment and cool towels provided by my gym to kick your heart rate into HIIT or athletic benefits, I do not need high end to get in a good workout. On this note, I provide Evolution Fitness a solid 3+ on Yelp and would absolutely recommend. When I am in town, I will be back. Drive around to the backside of the standard box building where the Wabash Valley Tumbling Gymnastics operation is housed, park, enter and head up to the second floor. You walk right into the Evolution Fitness space. CONS: -It's small, it is not a gym, it provides really only classes. Personal training can be provided, but I do not know these details. -It is not a gym, but a fitness facility. As such, work out and go home. No shower, no deodorant/mouthwash/Avian mist/special touch of any kind to spruce up in bathroom after class, no towels. -Work out area for training is small, but doable. Only 12 spin bikes tucked in a corner. -No windows in space, so no access to any natural light. -Nothing warm and fuzzy or outside the box about this space or the facility. PROS: -It is only $5 a class! Let me repeat, $5 a class. So inexpensive and no fancy membership required. It is so simple for an out-of-towner like myself who drops into Terre Haute from time to time to keep physically active. -You can go to their website and sign up for a class in advance and pay by credit card. Easy, simple, gtd spot (and with a class with only 12 bikes, you want to make sure you have a spot). -I have only attended one spin class before dumping Evolution Fitness into Yelp and the instructor was Laura. Owner as well, she was really quite upbeat, on point with queing and walked the walk and talked the talk. I hate an instructor who is simply walking around kind of barking orders as a form of motivation. Laura did not ask anyone to work harder than she herself was working out and I liked that. So for Terre Haute, this spot is OK, but not necessarily outstanding out there in the world of boutique athletic options in which Evolution Fitness would be categorized. But visit their website, check out their classes and judge for yourself. The only thing it will cost you is $5 and an hour workout.
