The ICU staff (only four ICU beds) was amazing! They gave me updates whenever I called and said to call them anytime, which I appreciated. Herbert and the other ICU nurses are all amazing! Also Ron the dialysis guy! A few days after I arrived, my sister was extubated and was able to move into a regular patient bed. Her team of doctors is outstanding, and there are so many specialists attending to her care. In the past month she was taken off a ventilator, stopped dialysis, been able to talk, is starting to use her hands again and is recovering from a series of serious conditions. Next week she will be transferred to a long-term care facility. This hospital has done an amazing job of treating all of her issues. I would also like to point out that the food in the tiny cafe is very good. You can't get a better lunch for $5. The hospital is continuously being cleaned. The floors are shining. And Greg is THE BEST!

My grandma is 97 years old, bedridden, and completely dependent on other people to care for her. I had to ask for pillows and blankets so I could rotate her myself, and I had to ask for a diaper to change her myself because they had no plan on doing it-- even though my grandma was laying there for almost 12hrs. Unfortunately we come to this hospital because it's close to home. I understand ERs get busy. But being busy doesn't mean basic care and empathy should disappear!! When I asked for help, I got looked at like they were annoyed or I was interrupting their social hour. When it comes to my grandma I don't play, so I was really disappointed.. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! And what really broke my heart is thinking about the patients who DON'T have family there to advocate for them. Imagine if I wasn't there for my grandma? Who would've changed her? Cleaned her? Made sure she was even comfortable? That's scary to think about. People come to the ER vulnerable, scared, sick, and needing compassion -- not attitude and neglect. The way some of these nurses acted was disgusting and disappointing.

The staff where we were visiting, was great and attentive. The staff was also fluent bilingual - Spanish. They were attentive. Dr. Dodoo was respectful in regards to the patient's privacy. He clearly asked the patient and told us - friends visiting - that he needed to speak to the patient privately and that if we could wait outside while he spoke to her. He also mentioned to her if she would give consent, but only if she wanted. We waited outside. Once the doctor was done with his examination and explaining to the patient, he walked out and told us we could go back in. Overall care and privacy for the patient, superb!

My friend is one of eight children, so he has a rather large family. One of the security guards, Jose, kept coming and sternly admonished us for our behavior in the waiting room. He continuously kept telling us that we were being way too loud. We were not being too loud, there were just a lot of people. But, the fact of the matter remains, he is there and getting paid for it. We were all there to visit our friend who had a stroke, was brain dead, and was waiting to be moved for donor purposes. None of us were being paid. None of us wanted to be there. We were all there to be supportive of one another. If your security guards cannot deal with people in a compassionate way, maybe they shouldn't work there. If you choose to put your employees in cubicles in the main lobby, that's a choice. My friend was at the facility for over a week and we had to deal with the security guard daily. He is a super grumpy man, and if he's unhappy, he should find another job. He should not make a horrible experience, even worse. The nurse nurses who took care of my friend were amazing The doctors did not have the best bedside manner (but, what else is new?)

The nurse in 5T both day and night are some of the most caring individuals we have ever met. Mary Ann the lead nurse is actually the sweetest and I can attend that she has no bad bone in her body. When I would walk around the unit, I saw her running around helping everyone and never complaining. I don't know about Zack and his story but more often than not....Most individuals will not give out their last name for safety purposes... such as this case of a nut job Kris looking them up and harassing people. So creepy and unprofessional, you don't do that to anyone regardless of how mad you are. What is also uncalled for is posting a private conversation you have with a different nurse and posting it for your own gain. Do better lady. 5T and PACU are such an amazing unit with staff and I'm beyond blessed they saved my partners life. Yes ALWAYS room for improvement but that's everywhere you go.

Avoid the ER at Keck Medicine of USC in Arcadia. My experience was horrible…read more I arrived just before 6 PM yesterday and was not checked in until around 11:30 PM. I understand that ER wait times depend on severity and that some patients may need to be seen sooner, but the way the front staff treated people was unacceptable. I went in because of severe back pain to the point where I could barely walk. I have children and a very high pain tolerance, but this pain had me in tears. Around 9 PM, I politely asked if they had any updates because it was becoming extremely difficult to sit and wait. The staff member at the front was rude and told me to "go sit down and wait for the nurse." Every time I approached the desk afterward, I was dismissed and told I would "be called shortly." When I was finally taken to the back, I was only seen for a couple of minutes before being moved again for vitals. They hooked me up to the blood pressure machine but never properly checked on me or removed it. At one point, they placed another patient in the same small triage/check area with me. It was barely big enough for one person, let alone two. The other woman was hooked up to her IV port and left there screaming in pain while I was also sitting there in severe pain myself. It was uncomfortable, chaotic, and did not feel like an appropriate space for multiple patients. I was also told they needed another urine test because something was missed in the first one, but no one ever came back to do it. Instead, they returned with discharge paperwork around 12:30 AM. The next day, I saw my doctor and found out the pain I was experiencing was actually due to a severe kidney infection. I'm disappointed not only by the long wait but by the lack of care, communication, and compassion from the staff during a time when I was in serious pain.

All 3 of them have been nothing short of amazing, their care and knowledge have surpassed my expectations and I am glad that I was under their care. And then we have our night Nurses, Nurse Estefani, Nurse Erika and Nurse Vanessa have all been the cóolest and funniest Nurses I have ever encountered.Their sense of humor made my sleepless nights more relaxing and my battles with anxiety was met with care care and compassion as they try to help me navigate through those nights where my brain would fight against me. I pray that God continues to bless these fine ladies and continues to give them the love. The compassion, the understanding the knowledge and the wisdom and ensuring that future patience will have nothing to worry about when they have an extended stay in the hospital. Unless of course it's a life or death emergency you would have to call an ambulance. I've taken my mother in law here a few times so what I've always done is book the appointment online, go pick her up then come here so that by the time we are the emergency room we are there for the appointment time. It will still take about 3 hours for the overall care given as opposed to 5 hours plus without an appointment so totally worth making that appointment online. The nurses are always nice and Dr's are always in a rush so you're mostly relying on nurses. Overall a good experience!

He had a slight case of pneumonia and they started him on IV antibiotics. The woman who came in to draw blood was well into her senior years with a pronounced tremor. The result was that she couldn't hit a vein and stabbed around in his arm for several minutes. Supposedly, they called in a cardiologist because they were concerned about his heart rate. The cardiologist NEVER actually saw my husband. On Saturday, our primary care doctor, who had visited my husband each day, said he could go home. 3 hours later, the nurses were still busy bickering back and forth about who would actually work that day. We had asked several times how his discharge was going, but they waited 3 hours to tell us that this imaginary cardiologist had to come by and sign off on his discharge too. We then told them that cardiologist was NEVER hired as my husband's cardiologist, that my husband already has a cardiologist, and that this new one lied about actually seeing the patient. I actually had to threaten to call the police to have my husband released. Then the nurse shredded my husband's arm while removing the IV. In the pictures, it's the one that looks like raw hamburger. The other picture is his other arm where the earlier nurse bruised it so badly stabbing for a vein. For 2 entire days, another patient down the hall was screaming in pain. In my opinion, this hospital is a scam to rake in Medicare money. I wouldn't trust them to put a bandaid on a paper cut. Follow-up: The doctor left orders for them to call in a prescription for an antibiotic to our pharmacy. They said they had done it. They lied. We called the pharmacy the next day and they hadn't received anything. We called the hospital and they said "Call your doctor." We've been getting run in circles by them for another hour the day after he was discharged. If you value your life and wellness. Stay away from this place!

Our 32 year old son was transferred here because we were told he was a great candidate for the…read morespecialized case they said they could offer him. The fact is he never should have been a patient here and we believe he was only accepted her for monetary purposes. From day one our son was neglected. He arrived at 10:30 pm, we left him right before midnight and upon arriving first thing the next morning he was sitting in his feces for what appeared to be hours. This was the first of many mornings we would walk into this. Doctors are not on site and they themselves do not round at this facility. They use nurse practitioner's who come in on average once per week prior to visiting hours so you will likely never see them in person unless you ask repeatedly. We never actually met his doctor in person the entire month we were there and it was only upon forcing a meeting with the Director that we even spoke with him on the phone. His defense was that the nurses don't communicate effectively with him. After nearly two weeks he was given a drug that we later found out was not appropriate given our sons condition. We believe this was a result of the doctor trying to calm the situation down and make us believe he found a positive care plan for our son when in fact he never did research how this could impact our son. We literally had to sit in our sons room 12 hours a day to ensure that he was getting proper care. He was given expired IV meds, his feeding tube was not turned on or paused for prolonged periods of time, his linens did not get changed regularly, his oral care was not done regularly (we had to ask), and he was not getting repositioned every two hours as we were told he needed to be for medical reasons. On one instance, a respiratory therapist placed there hand on our sons head despite a warning about his head injury and upon reporting it, we were told well that isn't what she said and she felt really bad. Nurses and support staff are working 24 hour shifts (we witnessed this on more than one occasion), the facility was incredibly dirty, we often had to complete range of motion and physical therapy on our son ourselves because we were told there was not enough staff and he was low priority compared to other patients. We spent hours documenting issues of improper care and neglect only to be dismissed by the CEO. We had to request a change of case worker because our original case worker told me that I chose to bring my son there so I should understand what we signed up for. He also dismissed my concerns with the case. Empty apologies is all that we received and often from people not even involved in the issues. We spent two weeks working to find a new facility for our son and getting him transferred due to how poor his care was. I would implore you to understand that this facility is not the high qualify facility that it has been made out to be and despite having a handful of amazing staff who try regardless of how they are treated (and yes we witnessed staff being treated poorly) this place is not somewhere I would recommend for a loved one. If you are in a position where you are forced to place them there, please plan to be there daily. We also had to witness other patients with no family being ignored for hours. Please do your research!! Understand that if you have a loved one that cannot advocate for themselves this is not a safe place for them.
