Since I already done most of the paperwork initially via online (it helps a lot btw), my initial process was all pretty straight forward, despite how much my anxiety was spiking. Before I know it, I was laying in the bed in a hospital gown, waiting for Dr. Battaglia and the anesthesia doctor (sorry I forgot your name) to visit me prior to surgery. When they came, we a small discussion and that was it. Waited for about a little over an hour, but it didn't feel like it at all. Then I was rolled into the surgery room. New for me, bright lights, other nurses about... the usual. Before too long, I was out already as the anesthesia is applied. I had a tough time waking up. I remember a few things, hearing my mom's voice as well as the post-op nurse, Diana, trying to wake me up but I had trouble coming to. Definitely different. I remember (I think) being given another IV on top of other medication(s) in attempt to stabilize my vitals and wake me up, which I finally did wake up. Groggy as all heck and feeling like crap. I felt something was off but I couldn't put my finger on it. However, my vitals were eventually good enough for discharge, so I was released to my mom while the post-op nurse rolled me out to our car. As soon as I tried to stand up, I threw up trying. My post op nurse apparently suspected this would happen as I swallowed blood (among other icky stuff) during surgery that made me feel worse. She had prepared a few things just incase I did vomit going to the car, which I did. They tried to induce that out while I was waking up, in the post-op area but I couldn't until I was trying to stand up and move. A day later, I got a call from the place, specifically Diana, my post-op nurse asking how I was doing. My guess is, it is protocol but regardless if it is or not, I appreciate the gesture. I was doing better but still feeling out of it. She mentioned, most likely I am sensitive to anesthesia so, I should definitely let the doctors know next time. Which I will :p While, I don't plan on going to be here multiple times, but being my first experience, everything was positive. Front desk lady was nice, things are a bit old but lets be honest here, not a lot of places like this are brand spanking new. My experience was great though, and that is what counts. Nurses and doctors are often overworked and stressed, some can be mean and make mistakes but they're human. Treat them kindly.

There are some hand sanitizers available for patients to use. This place is open and available with limited capacity. They are sanitizing in between patients. I mention these things in my reviews for the sake of protecting immunocompromised people like the elderly and people sick with cancer and other illnesses. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was here in this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is pretty big, but the lot does get full very quickly since they share the lot with a lot of medical offices. Some parking spots are smaller than others, so watch out! Establishment: The establishment itself is very clean, neat, tidy, and organized. Staff: The staff here are very friendly, welcoming, informative, and funny. Seriously, from the receptionists to the MRI techs, everyone was phenomenal. I like how the MRI techs walk you through what you'll experience before the exam starts. They also have a changing room / locker room for you to change and leave your stuff in. They have a nice mini waiting room inside with a bathroom and water dispenser once you exit the main waiting room. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum, but they charge 3% if you use your credit card.

Office management: The front staff/receptionist needs major training on how to treat and speak to patients. They do not have any compassion, courtesy or respect for their elderly patients. They are dismissive and condescending. Staff: I'm sure you would not be too happy if your parents were treated the way you treat the patients that come into this facility. I do not recommend this place. Advocate for your parents. Be very selective, there are choices out there, be diligent and do your homework. Don't settle for this kind of service. Our parents deserve better. Being disrespected and spoken poorly by this front desk staff is never an option. I DO NOT recommend!

A gentleman answered the call and said that he would take my number and call me in 10 - 15 mins. He did call back and left a message while I was in the other line speaking to someone else. The reason why it was odd is because it seemed that he was not at work and was whispering into the phone making it difficult to hear. The whole interaction was frustrating so I opted to drive in to the center to make the appointment in person. Once I arrived, it took a long time to receive any service and even longer for the receptionist to take my information, but I was able to make the appointment for the following week. Despite the odd and slow experience, I am very grateful to have been able to make the appointment in person.

Arrived early, was seen within a few minutes, and was out the door in 30 (total). Best of all, the TB test was free. Docked one star for the person that did my initial registration, misspelled my last name even though I spelled it a few times. The person at the desk, although very nice, also did not confirm or check the spelling when I said I never received the email confirmation.

To use CanadianPharmacyKing.com I need a physical signed script to send them and Kaiser only uses electronic scripts. A pharmacist came out and said they closed at 8 pm. Before leaving work, I checked the hours in three places online, including Google and Kaiser's own website in two different spots. All said 9 pm. It takes minutes to update hours online so you are not wasting people's time and money. That is basic integrity. There were two people inside waiting and she said they were urgent care patients, so they stay open until 9 pm for urgent care. Given that they had not updated their hours, you would think they could take two minutes to grab my prescription. I had received the text that it was ready and had just driven an hour to pick it up. Integrity feels rare these days. There are things I like about Kaiser and things that are ludicrous. Pros: everything is in one building. Referrals are easier than they used to be. Many appointments can be done online, which is a huge timesaver. The mental health practitioners I have interacted with have been kind and caring. Things that need improvement: I was on a waitlist for over a year to get a therapist. Now that I have one, appointments are still hard to get because there are very few available. My doctor recently had me do labs to change medication. I checked the results myself and saw I have hypothyroidism. No one called me to explain this. I only realized it because I looked up what the labs meant. When I read the symptom list and saw I have nearly all of them, I was shocked I had never been tested before. Ladies, get your hormones checked. Women's health care is still lacking. Which brings me to my IUD insertion. It was so agonizing I almost passed out, so they sent me home with medication to dilate before trying again. What they did not tell me is that the dilation medication caused worse pain than when I had kidney stones. Kaiser does not provide localized pain relief for IUD insertions, and I had already taken the maximum dose of ibuprofen. The first attempt was 40 minutes of agony. The second attempt involved 4 hours of severe dilation pain followed by another 35 minutes of insertion. That does not include the long wait times. They need better training or actual pain management for women. Lastly, I needed an EKG before starting a new medication. When I called, there were no appointments available for weeks, but my doctor needed it within a week. She told me to go to the Pasadena nurse clinic as a walk in and gave me the hours. I booked the far out appointment just in case and went as a walk in. The receptionist said they could not fit me in because they were full and only open two more hours. I asked when to come back and returned at the time he suggested. He then said the nurse who does EKGs would be leaving in an hour and could not see me. This was the second time I had followed their instructions and been turned away. I had rented a car just to get there. He sent me to Glendale. I drove 45 minutes in rush hour and arrived just before closing. The nurse there told me Pasadena should not have sent me away and that they are supposed to take walk ins but keep sending patients to Glendale. They were incredibly kind and saw me even though they were close to closing. I know Kaiser employees likely work in a tough, fast paced system. But with the massive amounts of money insurance companies make, you would think there would be more efficient care, accessible mental health services, better women's health care, updated hours, and policies that are actually honored. Too often patients are treated like cattle, rushed through to get to the next. Wouldn't it be nice if health care actually cared? A gal can dream...
