I understand that being a nurse / doctor has to be one of the most stressful jobs, but if you cannot handle it, why do the job in the first place? Dirty and they stuck me in a cold ass room stuck me in front of a computer had me waiting forever in that room the computer up high and hurt me just filling it out. Well, let's see the first time I ended up in the emergency room with my mother having severe back spasms, the physicians assistant told her that it was due to low potassium, even though she was in a significant amount of pain. He basically accused my mother of drug seeking behavior(mind you my mother is 76 years old and had spinal cord surgery last year). When we had to come back two days later, we were sent to the main hospital because there was no neurologist on staff at the Westover location we were at when they released her. They put her in the Lyft and sent her home, advising her that she would have in-home physical therapy that she was never contacted about and she has now been home for over a week. What a sad experience for someone just trying to receive medical help. read more

Esh! I hate to leave this type of review but this was based on my personal experience. We first stayed here in early March because we welcomed our sweet baby boy into this world. The care we received in the labor and delivery unit was amazing. Unfortunately, we returned because my husband had to have emergency surgery at the end of March. We stayed on the fourth floor. The care was not as great. I will give credit where credit is due. Our charge nurse Will was amazing! If every nurse could be the way he was ...the hospital would function so smoothly! Ruth and Dorothy were at the top of the list too! Those nurses do Gods works. Some of the other nurses were very rude and anytime we needed something it seemed as if we were bothering them. Granted my husband was in a lot of pain. Two of the nurses left him unattended too for hours at a time. I also want to add we aren't very needy people and I get that they are probably short staffed but that shouldn't take away from quality care. Our sheets were changed once because I had to ask many times. They left several IVs out sometimes would forget to come back and plug them in and not to mention we did not get checked on every hour as their sign says they will. Being that I had just had a baby I thought for sure we were going to get the same type of care we got on the second floor. I do want to mention our saving grace besides Will our RN. Dr. Wool was amazing! He made me feel like all was right in the world. He followed my husband along with his care and made sure to apologize for every mishap the hospital made. Dr. Wool was not the surgeon who was on my husbands case but he went above and beyond to explain step by step what was going on. His bed side manners are phenomenal. I really hope that in the future Methodist could step it up a bit because there was so many times I was highly discouraged. read more

I went to the ER today , the guy that was checking in people he was super rude ! He was using a lot of profanity language . Didn't catch his name but the other staff name Courtney she was very rude . When I went up front to ask how much longer for me to receive my medication she said there's others that need more care than you it's not like your going to D*E !!!! Wow so unprofessional staff they had tonight . They literally had no respect for orders at all or anybody there . A lot of profanity language was used today . I hope the area for care of patients is sanitary. The common areas and restrooms for visitors are atrociously filthy. Looks like know one cares. Reported one men's room on 7th floor near a busy waiting area this morning. While the person said it would be fixed - several hours later still the same and no toilet paper. Makes you conserved for the safety of all patients if the staff responsible for cleaning hygiene are this bad. First wrote this over 3 hours ago. Just had to be near the same Men's Room. Checked to see if anything had been done. NOTHING. Same as when we first arrived this morning. Care for our relative is wonderful and attentive. Very professional. Compassionate staff, descent food (I mean is there such a thing for a Michelin star rating for hospital food ha!), rooms are cleaned and daily sanitized. The sanitizer is so strong I have to bring eye drops, but personally I'd prefer to know it's clean. They run out of dietary preferences often so I do feel the food service staff could do a better job at inventory. The shared restrooms in wing/ floor 8 are dirty. I have a daughter in the BMT floor and been visiting her for the past month. I stay with her a couple of days in a week and restrooms don't change. The only thing I see is trash bags swapped. Other than that the floors never get swept or mopped. Like most men do, pee outside the toilet. The toilets and toilet seats are not clean. So please this is a hygiene and health concern for many. It is a medical institute and no matter the reason, but the hospital needs to keep it clean regardless. read more

I wasn't too impressed with Methodist. I had a family member in here for a few days, and I spent a lot of time hanging out here. The staff is slow, but mostly pleasant. There was one instance of a hundred minute wait to see a nurse when the nurse calling button was repeatedly mashed. Toilet paper supplies ran out, and patients were forced to 'improvise.' Nobody ever brags about the food in the hospital, but this stuff was lower than the usual stuff that they bring out. Nothing was warm. The elevators hardly work. They're slow, a few of them were out of order. I never got to ride in the elevator. The place looks dingy and needs a renovation. The basement is huge. Did you know that they opened this hospital with a simulated nuclear explosion? It was the first hospital built with a nuclear bunker in the basement. Parking is a nightmare here. They've got the Three Stooges out in front of the place running a valet parking "service." They park cars anywhere they can- fire lanes, blocking in other cars, blocking up the entrance to the hospital. Need to pick up a patient who's getting discharged? Ha! These fools have it all screwed up so you can't even get close. They want a tip for parking my car? They want gratuity for screwing up the entrance to an emergency facility? These guys can go park on a tack. Who charges to go to the hospital. My advice is go park on Louis Pasteur and walk the few blocks. I hope to never return. read more

In June 2025, I was admitted to this hospital for a severe tattoo-related infection that developed into cellulitis. My experience here was not just disappointing -- it was dangerous, neglectful, and traumatic. Inadequate Medical Care & Dismissal of Concerns From the start, my symptoms and concerns were consistently brushed off. Doctors rarely performed thorough physical assessments, despite my reports of worsening redness, burning, swelling, and vein pain. When my IV infiltrated (blew), staff continued pushing antibiotics through the compromised site, causing additional pain, swelling, and long-term issues with my arm. I was discharged from the hospital severely dehydrated and with an elevated resting heart rate that has yet to come down, even weeks later. My heart rate was consistently above 100 bpm, yet instead of running any cardiac tests or checking my heart rhythm, I was told it was "just a panic attack" and was given Xanax -- a medication I had never taken before. No one checked my heart. No one ran an EKG. I later discovered from reading my medical records that I already had a prolonged QT interval, which increases the risk for a dangerous arrhythmia called torsades de pointes. Despite this, they administered medications that can further prolong the QT interval, putting me at even greater risk. The hospital never informed me of this or monitored me for cardiac complications. Poor Discharge Planning & Pharmacy Mistakes On top of the inadequate care, my discharge was mishandled. I had provided my correct pharmacy information (HEB) multiple times, yet the doctor sent my pain medication to the wrong pharmacy (Walgreens) and refused to correct it, leaving me without proper pain management in the critical days after discharge. Unprofessional and Disturbing Roommate Experience To make matters worse, my hospital stay was made more uncomfortable by my assigned roommate, who defecated on the restroom floor and in the shower, creating an unsanitary and distressing environment. Additionally, she repeatedly made offensive comments that directly insulted my religious beliefs, making my stay not only physically painful but emotionally unsafe. Lasting Impact This hospital failed me on every level -- physically, emotionally, and medically. I was not only left with lingering heart rate issues, chronic arm pain, and the burden of unresolved dehydration, but the emotional trauma of having to fight to be taken seriously, to be treated safely, and to simply have my basic human dignity respected. The hospital was fully aware of my pre-existing mental health conditions and yet made choices that worsened my emotional state and ignored critical risks to my physical health. Even when obvious signs pointed to something more serious, I was repeatedly dismissed. The only bright spot was that some of the nurses I encountered were kind on a personal level, but kindness does not outweigh negligence. Final Thoughts I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this hospital to anyone. My case is still unresolved, and I am considering filing a formal complaint due to the long-term impact this experience has had on my health and well-being. read more

My wife and I were in San Antonio for Christmas. The day before we were to leave I was standing at hotel kitchen sink. I turned to set a glass down and pow my hip implant fractured. Ambulance took me Methodist hospital. I had 4 previous hip revisions after dislocations. I knew this was different. X-rays showed the failed implant. The orthopedic doctor said it was the first time he or the hospital had seen this failure. I had to wait 6 days for new implant and the tools to get old stem out of my leg. The doctor was awesome. He did a fantastic job on my surgery. He got the stem out without fracturing my femur. The hospital was a different story. They didn't give me the cymbalta that I have taken for years. By third day I was in withdrawal. Horrible headache, eye pain etc. I kept telling my wife something was not right. Finally 2 days after my total hip revision my wife figured out why I was in withdrawal due to not being given a med on my med list. They were like my bad! They also delayed giving me pain meds. They would say okay we will be right there. After an hour or two they would bring the pain meds. Finally a nurse said we don't want you to OD. I was like there it is. There is no way I would have ODed on the small amount they were giving me. They even gave me Narcan without my consent, telling me it was pain meds. Narcan blocks opiates and is given when someone OD's. I didn't find this out until I got on their patient portal and looked at the meds I was given and not given. Unbelievable!! The nurse also touched my wound bandage with gloves she had touched multiple things including dumping the urinal before touching my bandage. I stopped this moving forward. The semi private room is anything but private. I could hear the other patients talk to the caregivers and what was wrong with them. I had three different roommates before I was moved to private room. The last guy made 85 phone calls and was talking very loud. I couldn't even have a conversation with my wife during all these phone calls. The hospital did not provide any bandages to take home. I had a 9 hour drive to get home just 3 days after surgery. They worry about patients having bowel movements but would not give me extra softener or senna cot! The food was average at best, lots of fiber and not seasoning. There were some decent nurses but I would get new nurse every couple days. Best I can describe this place is (the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing)! Finally I had enough and was going to self discharge. They got on the ball when they realized I was serious and got me discharged. I have to say I did get one of the head orthopedic surgeons as my doctor. He was fantastic and did an awesome job on me. 5 stars for Dr Lee. read more

Went in today the staff was super rude ! The guy in front that was checking people in while talking to other staff was unprofessional. Rude to patients as well as me while checking in . Courtney in the ER was beyond rude as well . I personally don't think they should be working there at all ! Type of care I got today was horrible service . I am writing my about my experience from labor and delivery and a 91 day NICU stay with my first born. The labor sucked and I have mixed feelings about the NICU. This will be a lengthy post... When I was pregnant I researched the best hospital to deliver in San Antonio. My OB is Dr. Morales with Willow OBGYN and she delivers at this hospital. Also, this hospital was highly recommended to me for delivering my son and I read they had the best NICU in the city. Labor and Delivery: I went into labor on January 19 at 3 am this year after my water broke at home. I went into the labor and delivery triage and was admitted to my delivery room. When I arrived I was 2 cm dialated. Hours passed and I was still only 2 cm dialated. The nurse then gave me some medicine to dialate (not pitocin) and I was still not dialating. Then, by the evening they did give me pitocin and an epidural because I couldn't stand the pain anymore. Around 2 am on January 20 the nurse checked me and I was only 3 cm dialated even after pitocin. I was in so much pain I hadn't realized that I hadn't seen a doctor the whole time I had been there (besides in triage). I had my mom go ask for my OB and they told her that she was not on call that night but there was another dr on call. I don't understand how I could be in a labor and delivery room for an entire 24 hours and not see a doctor face to face. They told me it was because it was MLK weekend and Monday (January 20) was a holiday. I didn't care, I still feel like I should have at least been able to be examined by the doctor on call. Finally, on January 20th around 10 am, almost 30 hrs in labor, my OB, Dr. Morales arrived to my bedside and was shocked that I hadn't delivered my baby yet. She then told me that we could wait a few more hours to see if I would be able to deliver naturally or I could have a c-section now. I really wanted to deliver naturally but by that evening I decided to go ahead with the c-section. What the nurses didn't tell me (or the dr on call that I never saw) was that the longer you're contracting (which I was with the pitocin ) and NOT dialating, the greater risk you are of hemmoraging during the c-section. I was very upset that no one told me that and would have opted for the c-section immediately. Also, by around 4/5 pm I spoke with Dr. Morales my OB and we decided on the c-section but I wasn't taken back to the OR until almost midnight. My son was born on January 20th right before midnight and needed to be rushed to the NICU on oxygen. This was my first baby and I am very upset that no doctor came to examine me for more than 24 hrs while in labor. Especially that I was high risk with gestational diabetes and my sugar levels kept dropping even after being given juice and snacks. NICU Experience: My son was in the NICU initially for breathing trouble and needed oxygen and a CPAP machine. When he was 3 days old he no longer needed respiratory support and the nurse noticed "red streaks" around his belly along with a distended belly. I then found a surgeon next to my sons bedside who was examining him and looked very confused. He said that usually these symptoms are due to NEC (Necrotizing Endrocolitis) which is primarily found in premature infants but my son was full-term. For over a whole month, my son had hundreds of tests, labs, and imaging and still no one knew what was wrong with my baby. Shortly after he turned 1 month only his stomach started to get bigger by the day and eventually looked like he was pregnant. They told me there was a risk his intestines could burst. He was in so much pain that he couldn't even sleep and was crying and grunting when he did sleep. Eventually the only option left was exploratory surgery, which was done by Dr. Robert Thomas. The surgery was a huge success and he ended up having some dead bowel (intestine) that had to be removed. He had an ostomy bag for a month and then was able to get reconnected. My son's Neonatal Drs, Dr. Welch and Dr. Martinez were amazing. Both providers had excellent bedside manner and did a fantastic job of communicating with me daily. The majority of his nurses were absolute angels. The NICU manager Amanda and the director Sara along with the charge nurses were very accommodating and helped me navigate the most stressful time of my life. No one wants to go through a stressful labor or a traumatic childbirth or NICU experience, but the NICU nurses, doctors, and staff were extremely compassionate and you can tell they love what they do. Thank you Methodist Hospital for taking care of my son. However, please work on your labor and delivery unit to be more patient oriented. read more

If I was just reviewing the labor and delivery team I'd give 5 stars! From checking in to delivery everyone was great. Especially the midwife Erin who delivered our baby girl who decided to come at 34 weeks. They were not pushy, let me have my VBAC, let me birth in and position I wanted in or out of bed, and didn't force pitocin or epidural or any other interventions I didn't want. There was a whole NICU team in the room ready to take care of our girl. Now the most of the NICU nurses are great but some have been there a long time and are stuck in their ways, not necessarily the right way of doing certain things. Also, it was stressful because we got conflicting advice from lactation consultant, speech pathologist, nurses, nurse practitioners and Dr...so it was hard to know what was really going on or what the plan of action was. The hospital itself is decent but cafeteria is not great. Never seems to be open half the time and is small for such a big hospital. There's a little cafe kiosk that sells coffee and some lunch, breakfast and snack items though as well. But if you're gonna be in there for a long stint for something planned ahead take food with you. read more

This review is for Methodist ER De Zavala Rd and has been cross posted on Google. I never thought I would write a review like this, but other families considering care at Methodist ER De Zavala deserve to know what happened. I write to share my family's deeply traumatizing experience with Dr. Sophia Zabadayev and Nurse Rochel Turlowski at this facility. During a visit with our infant son, who has Mongolian spots, Dr. Zabadayev and Nurse Turlowski failed to do a full physical exam: no palpation, no assessment of limb movement, or no differential diagnosis. Instead, Dr. Zabadayev made a visual assumption and misdiagnosed my son's Mongolian spots as "unexplained bruises." They then used this misdiagnosis to report only me (not my husband who was equally present and engaged) to CPS. They also recommended unnecessary escalation of care, which included X-rays, bloodwork, a CT scan, and hospital admission -- all based on Dr. Zabadayev's error. This experience revealed a clear lack of cultural and medical competence. Mongolian spots are commonly seen in children who are Hispanic, African American, Asian, and Native American. Yet, this basic knowledge was ignored. What's worse, Dr. Zabadayev's medical notes in my son's medical records are filled with omissions, misrepresentations, and loaded, subjective language. These notes have caused ongoing harm, and I am still working on amending the records so that her words do not follow my son throughout his life. Thankfully, our pediatrician and the CPS investigator recognized the error and confirmed that these were Mongolian spots -- not bruises -- but the trauma remains. I've filed a formal complaint to Methodist, and to their credit, they've stated they are investigating. However, I feel a responsibility to share my concerns publicly so that no other parent walks into this ER unaware of what might happen. I went to this facility seeking care and reassurance for my child. Instead, I encountered bias, misdiagnose, and profound harm. This entire experience has been frightening, emotionally devastating, and humiliating. Please exercise caution if you or your loved ones are seen by Dr. Zabadayev or Nurse Turlowski at this facility. I do not want any other family to experience what my family had to endure. I sincerely hope that my review leads to greater accountability, and that these providers reflect deeply on how their actions affect families like mine. read more

The doctor they signed time after my stroke was incredible!! Saved my life essentially And their PTprogram is top notch. Stoke victims are often hurt by being forgotten, but Methodists a special unit where everyone works in sync. It's amazing!! Staff are all Friendly , knowledgable, and kind. Training was amazing! My husband came here with an emergency and more than 48 hours the place that says "CARE PLAN" on his official record is BLANK. He is just glanced at by a rotating circle of rude doctors who are only treating symptoms. Some of them don't even step in his room!! I have repeatedly asked for specialist consults and they say they have called but no specialist has ever shown up. I have even asked if they can recommend someplace we can transfer my husband to, where he can get the specialist care he needs. They won't do that either (money grab). I will never ever return here even if I'm bleeding to death this place is a hell hole. Edit: a specialist showed up after we had been there 60 hours. Some of the doctors have been informative. My personal experience is my own. I believe in true kind, compassion for all. There are great nurses and doctors, surgeons who dedicate their lives to make sure they do help and heal others. Being a past employee, I hope changes are made. Remember folks, if you come to the hospital, speak up, if you are supposed to be SEE and be Examined by a physician they MUST actually see you, NOT a family nurse practitioner, if you get discharged, only. Sign if it has a doctor sign off on it. It's INSURANCE Fraud if not. Safety: In the main building, there should be caution sign tape on those glasses walls warning not for kids to play on. that drop 3 floors down. Please keep your kids off. Rosella is a 5 star coffee shop. The best coffee and the coolest staff. The owner is an outstanding and respectful man that cares for his customers. The problem is, by the time evening rolls around, the floors dirty with coffee stains, dirt tracks from the main and 2-3 garage. We used to clean them 24/7 but HCA decided to cut down on hiring employees and staff by paying minimum of less than 16.00 an hour and hiring staffing agencies that get paid 18.00-19.00 then pay those staff 17.00.hmm saves on insurance, easy turn over. Anywhere from 4am to 7 -8 the floors are super clean because some does great detail early morning. Keep it up. Restrooms need superior attention 24/7 just me, go check for yourself. Wouldn't you want to walk into a hospital restrooms and the floors are spotless, well it ain't perfect because they down size EVS staff as well other departments. Mother baby and L and D are great departments, they strive to make sure you newborns are well taken care of. 5 stars Sl1 cafeteria: great food but depends who's cooking and maintaining the freshness 3 stars. They don't really have the best food, school quality foods yes, but that's about it. 3 stars Firefly sushi: 5 stars, good food, great staff North building: questionable? Children ER. First let me talk about the bad, that way you can see what I didn't like: The valet system they have going on is atrocious. Despite being able to see my car parked a mere 30 feet away, I was unable to go get it while and instead had to wait 25 min while the two ladies working the desk looked for someone else's missing keys and the two young guys going and driving the cars up walked around extremely slowly as if no one was waiting on them. I've seen Marriott valet service workers busy their butts to get cars and this place was completely the opposite, slow, inconsiderate, and completely task saturated. They need a better system and kids with some hustle so women who just gave birth aren't sitting outside in the 100 degree weather with a newborn for 30 min because they "aren't allowed to walk to their car." As far as care, we had a great experience with the nurse staff in the labor and delivery ward. My wife's experience in the birthing suite was great and they gave our newborn son considerate and genial care read more

My Sister is in this hospital at the moment and has been there in the past few months and they have given her the absolute worst experience. From a doctor using his BARE HANDS very near her groin area, nurses that don't seem to understand bed side practices and having to wait until after noon to eat because the nurses don't put in her food order. My family member with leukemia was in this hospital for over a month. She was discharged home today to continue her oral chemotherapy. She has a good PPO insurance. She is unable to find any pharmacy that can fill her chemotherapy prescription for Vesanoid because it costs $9000.00 per pill and she takes multiple pills daily. The oncologist is unavailable, the hospital will not provide a partial Rx fill, she is weak and still sickly and extremely worried, as am I. I spoke to the nurse in the hospital who can do nothing to help, as discharge planning was not ordered by the oncologist. In California, where I live and worked as an RN, no hospital would ever treat a patient in this manner. People complain how California has too many laws and higher taxes, however, Californians are protected by laws from these cruel Texan practices. read more

Former employee. Save yourself and never go or work here. Underpaid and overworked. Terrible place. Terrible service. Terrible staff. The nurses talk badly about their patients. And my god- all they do is complain. Seeing it firsthand. Horrible patient care. I've never been so ashamed to have been apart of such a terrible facility. Not impressed with this hospital what so ever. If you have the choice go somewhere else, GO! 1) They registered my grandmother under the wrong name & we are 8 days in & no one has corrected it. Minor, no! That is a patient identifier and it's incorrect. 2) Case management workers are not friendly what so ever on ANY floor. They do not hear the family out & force you to make a decision without researching because they want to transfer the patient out asap. 3) We are 8 days in & NO ONE has asked who her primary care doctor is or haven't even asked for any medical records. We have been treated like we do not know how to care for someone who has had a stroke. Had they asked we would have given them every medical record we have and a list of medications she had been on. Therefore, we had to take matters into our our own hands & reach out to her primary care because of how unhappy we are with the service here at this hospital. 4) EVERYONE from any department including housekeeping, to nurses, to lab employees are constantly on their personal cell phone ever where you look. Which explains why the bathrooms and floors are dirty including the blinds on the windows. -I am leaving this review because I work in healthcare in another state and I can not believe this is how they care for patients here. It's the minor and basic things we see and can't even be done correctly. It's a joke here and not professional. read more

I took my adult daughter to Methodist ER for chest pain and bradycardia with PVC's. She was brought from waiting area to a room multiple times to draw blood, do EKG, CXR etc. Her heart was listened to by a student, the doctor did not listen to her heart at all. She was not ever connected to a continuous monitor. The discharge nurse was very rude and abrupt. Chest pain and arrhythmias are serious. We were very disappointed in the care for a chest pain patient. We had a much more positive experience at The Rim ER/Urgent Care where they did exactly what was needed and expected at one time. They actually monitored her heart and condition. Excellent experience there. I would not recommend Methodist ER. read more

My mom went to Methodist for a mastectomy. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff and the amazing surgical team that took care of my mom! They were amazing! Now, we had to wait on the surgical registration waiting area, which was fine until we needed to use the restroom. I have never been to a dirtier more disgusting restroom in my life. It was worse than any rest stop/gas station that I have ever been to! There were two, and the second was somehow worse than the first. I mean, this is a hospital. Step it up and get those bathrooms clean for the families that have no choice but to use them while their loved ones are in surgery! So disappointed at the level of cleanliness. Give these amazing empty something to be proud of. read more

I was impressed with how friendly the staff was here, attentive and caring. They are extra cautious and much we appreciated. The parking garage was challenging to find a space during the day. read more
