Listen..I'm writing this review but I don't want to - no I don't. I know that the more people who hear about this place, the less opportunity I can just walk in and get my hair done. But sharing is caring and for real - these women really should be shared - not only do they know how to do hair, nails, wax and facial - they know how to treat you like a friend while keeping the place professional. Truth is that I've been a patron of this place for years -they have seen me through many moody hair styles. It was my plan never to anyone because I love my hair dresser and I don't want to share her...no I am not an only child - there was 11 of us - you learn in a household that big very early -that once you got something good, you hold on to it. Why the change of heart? Well, today I was there for an extensive beauty treatment (keratin treatment - wish me luck) and wax - which meant I was there for a few hours, and I noticed that only a few true and loyal customers came for services. On a Friday, with so many beautiful people in Miami - this place should have been more busy. So - harnessing my spoiled child syndrome - I am willing to share my beauty salon because I don't go enough to pay their electricity /rent/food/children's tuitions/medical expenses etc.. Specific Pro's: 1. Reasonably priced -- it is possible to still get a wash and blow dry for $20. 2. Only a few blocks from a few different metro movers....if you are driving, parking can be a pain - you will have to pay or be very lucky to get a street spot....it may work to park by Bayside and walk a few blocks. 3. Professional and Prompt service - make an appointment - and then show up on time - you will be seen on time or have to wait for the next opening -- they respect their customers. 4. They sell the products they use and give you instructions on how to maintain your look. 5. They have a frequent visitor card :-) after like 6 sessions you can start getting discounts on future services. 6. Visiting Miami and staying at a hotel downtown and wanted mani/pedi. Walked from the hotel and found Metro. I had no appointment, was taken in right away. When you first walk in ,Metro is a beauty supply shop. I loved the middle aisle with sale items. In the back (not visible from the store front ) is the salon. It's not a fancy place. but the place was full and after a customer left, anther one came in. I was a bit disappointed that we did not use the chair for pedicures with the tub where you soak your feet (you know the one...it has the back massage). Instead the manicurist brought out a store bought type foot massage, soaker ; this was disappointing and awkward as she had me soak my feet under the table, then when she was ready to do the pedi she had me lift my foot (from under the table) to rest on her knee. Weird, but at $37 for a great mani/pedi, I won"t complain. Don't be intimidated as the majority of stylists speak Spanish as a first language;but this is just icing on the cake! read more

I have today the experience yo buy a new blow dry air . My first experience had a little bit bad because my parlux super compact 3500 was in the not exactly conditions when you buy something new. (A hours after I call for this episode not good at all an they immediately help me and back to the store check everything was right ). They Change for another new parlux 385 power light ionic & ceramic and of course is more expence to the other before but they take be careful about my problem I'm now with my powerful blow dry air so happy and ready to work and ready to back y buy more absolutely remommedable for this 5 ***** . read more

I was recommended to go to this place by an excellent barber shop next door to Metro, and since my husband had such a good experience in the Barbers, I took their recommendation and booked a gel mani. Well, where do I begin, the lady cut half the skin on the top of my finger away whilst trying to cut my cuticles. And then when it came to painting, I'm not exaggerating, she painted most of the top of my finger and then rubbed it off around my nail. Worst Gel mani I have EVER gotten. The gel is already chipping because it is so uneven and my cuticles are all red and uneven. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I will be advising the barber shop next to it to stop recommending Metro as it might damage their business. read more

This review is for the store, not the salon. (I've never used the latter.) They have a fairly large supply of products -- mostly hair products but also nail and skin products. But the staff in the store is consistently unhelpful and rude each time I've gone there looking for something specific. I've finally given up and will just look elsewhere for beauty products even though this place is right by my office. read more

The manicures were not bad and it was convenient for me to get an emergency manicure because I worked next door. However, do not go with Ana! She was awful! I can't believe she doesn't know how to cut nails! And when I tried to explain to her that, because my nails arch from one side to the other it is better to clip them starting from the side rather than crush them by clipping them in the middle (something EVERY manicurist or person with common sense knows), she gave me major attitude. I have been going to Metro Beauty since I was in college at UM and had a little part time job. Back in the day, a manicure was 7 dollars-- and a pedicure 18. I know, I know--dirt cheap for quality products (they only use OPI, Essie, and Orly, ladies---no .99 cent nail polishes here), prompt service, and clean surroundings. Fast-forward to 2010, and after a stint working in downtown fort lauderdale (home of the 30 dollar manicure), I am back working in downtown miami. The manicurist I see, Yisel, is still extraordinary, prompt and really does the most efficient and flawless mani/pedi I have seen. What is more, I am always offered cuban coffee and a new magazine to read. The beauty supply part of this Metro Beauty is even better-- nice, neat displays-- and every professional brand you can imagine. If you have relaxed hair like mine, and like to get KeraCare or Mizani Products, the place to get those whole lines is here-- as well as any heat styling appliance, hairbrush, or waxing supplies you need. I ordered a hairbrush from MetroBeauty.com on February 20th (order confirmed that day). It is now March 10th and I have yet to receive it. I consider this odd as the website says it takes 3-5 days to ship. In addition, I tried contacting MetroBeauty's customer service via e-mail about a week ago for help and to ask what the problem was, and have yet to receive a response. Do NOT order online from them. I ordered about 6 items from them and never received them. After writing several emails 6 weeks later to enquire about why I haven't received my items, it took them over a week to respond. They told me that they had actually cancelled the order because the items were out of stock. They had my contact information, so why the heck did no-one take the time to inform me? I could have purchased the items somewhere else instead of waiting almost 2 months to find out I would never receive my order. Terrible business, extremely poor communication with customers, and difficult to reach. With so many other online beauty stores, take your business elsewhere to somewhere that treats their customers appropriately. These people are a joke instead of a business. They should fire the whole staff and start from scratch. I called the location at 256 Flagler to ask when they closed and they answered at 5:45 pm. If you didn't want to work or answer questions, it's probably best not to answer the phone. These geniuses decided to answer. The staff person told me at 6 pm. I told them that I was on my way. I live just across the street on Biscayne Blvd/ 1st/Flagler. I ran downstairs and arrived by 5:50 pm to find a CLOSED sign on the door. I called the main location on 4 E. 1st Street o explain the situation. I was told to call on Monday to speak to the manager about the situation. When I asked the staff as they were pulling the gates down for their names. The older lady bullies up and starts screaming at me that she is the owner and provides her name. What owner sends money out the door? They walked away and went home. I ended up around the corner at the salon Hair Gallery Salon and Beauty Supply for a $75 purchase where they upcharged me and offered to schedule an appointment. I would recommend them for any of your haircare needs rather than Metro because they need to go home before their day ends. read more

This will be my last time coming here. The only reason I came in was because it's close to Brickell/Downtown and I pass by this area everyday and I thought I will give it a go. This place is incredibly expensive. I got charged $250 for cutting my ends (I have very short hair) and doing highlights to my hair. The lady messed up my hair! She tried to dye my hair brown and it only worked on the top and on the bottom it stayed black! The highlights made my hair look orange and gold; which I hoped was going to hide her mistake. I'm honestly so sad about my hair because i look like Carrot Top. I could have done a better job dying my hair at home using a $4 kit from a drug store. Skip this place. read more

I ordered my foundation makeup online from metro beauty due to our local beauty store closing. I thought I was getting a great deal. The items were shipped and received in a timely manner. When I went to use the liquid foundation, it appeared new. Once I started to put it on, I realized there was a clear liquid coming out of the tube. I emailed the company and never received a response. It appears the liquid is some type of alcohol and here wasn't much makeup in the tube. I will never order from this company again. I suggest they not take makeup for returns or sell defective items. read more
