I contacted this company and spoke with Christian. He came across as a true professional. I asked if the price he quoted could be lowered and he transferred me to "the owner" Chuck. Chuck seemed very nice but when I questioned him on the pricing he said it was the best he could do. I asked for his phone number and told him I wanted to get a couple more bids and I would call him back. He gave me a phone number and I read it back to be sure I got it right.I was talking to him some more and thenhe hung up on me. Absolutely DO NOT use this company. I called Budget Van Lines, who was a broker, and farmed out my request. Fair enough that is their model. However, I was given a quote, the person on the phone, from Budget was in communication with Metro Hop and used the word quote several times. He said this is what your move cost will be Door to Door! The movers arrived 2 DAYS late. I had to delay putting my house on the market while waiting for them. They show up in a U-Haul and stick their head out of the window and say, "Hey are you moving!" Sketchy, for sure. I expected a Budget Van Lines truck or a Metro Hop truck. I get on the phone with Metro Hop and they said, yes, that's our driver. Okay. To receive my quote, I had explained I had approximately a studio apartments worth of items as my major move out had already occurred. I had simply what I needed as I was prepping my home for sale. In walks the driver and informs me he will video my belonging and get a quote. WHAT! I have a quote! He says that was an Estimate. He videos all items and goes out to the truck to speak to his manager. He comes back wanting $1600.00 Cash or Venmo ONLY, in addition to the $2400.00 I was "quoted" for Door to Door service AND refuses to take all of my items. I call the manager again. She said, " I saw the video, you have more." I do not have more than I stated! Now they are talking to me in Cubic Feet measurements and not in room sizes. I was going to cancel the whole thing until I learned they would keep my $1264.00 deposit, because I didn't cancel within 72 hrs of requesting service. Driver goes out to truck again and he and the manager are wheeling and dealing and he shows back up with another quote. Now I feel like I'm in some bad game show or carnival booth trying to decide what to do next. I was on the phone again with the manager and was extremely irritated at all of this chaos and corrupt practice. They knock $200.00 off. My son offers to pay the additional $1400.00 and they will take all of my items. They loaded the U-Haul and didn't tag or itemize a single thing. I had no list of items taken. Now, I feel like I just paid them to steal my stuff. This move was Midwest to Southeast. I expected my items delayed a bit due to Christmas, New Years and weather. After 3 weeks, I called several times to see where my stuff is. Calls were not returned. I reached the manager twice. She offered "they are in transit". One month later at 6:49 am I get a call from a man asking if I am home. What! He said he's got my stuff and he can deliver it. Balance due has to be paid in cash! He shows up with a lawn company size trailer with my items jammed into what appears to be a space about 6'x4'. Things have been squished, dismantled, bent and scratched. I have no idea if I truly received all of my items. Metro Hop is full of people who are deceptive, and they do not operate in any form of respectable business practices. They take advantage of you by showing up late, causing you to have to make decisions in the moment as you are already late to put your house on the market due to their negligence and scam you with their words and action out of money. What I experienced was predatory, dishonest, and emotionally draining -- and I'm sharing it here in full so no one else goes through what I did. A month and a half before my move from Vista, CA to Eugene, OR, I had planned to use PODS (a great company, just bad timing). That's when I was contacted by Metro Hop Relocation. They seemed professional at first. A rep called and asked me to list every single item in my home that couldn't fit into a small or medium box. I spent real time walking through everything with them -- no shortcuts, no missed items. I did my part. Based on that inventory, they quoted me $3,400, which was about $300 cheaper than PODS. It felt like a good deal. I signed the contract and paid $1,500 upfront. But the contract only listed a few of the big items -- and not everything I gave them -- which I assumed was normal. A few days before the move, a second rep called and had me repeat the process -- same itemized breakdown, same detailed list. Then came the bait-and-switch. I was told I'd actually need to pay an additional $2,600 because the original estimate didn't cover enough "cubic footage." I was shocked. I'd given them everything -- twice. But they wouldn't budge. So to avoid being forced to pay more, I started selling off my own furniture and large items just to stay within their original quote. I lost money, I lost time, and I lost things I actually needed -- all because of their shady business model. On move day, a crew showed up looking nothing like professionals. He got me just far enough to stop complaining and then disappeared when it really mattered. When my things arrived in Eugene, I was devastated. Over $1,200 in damages. My dining table? Broken. Work desk? Smashed. Picture frames? Shattered. Stainless steel trash can? Dented and ruined. The only reason I had documentation is because the local delivery crew (different people) felt so bad for me, they helped me take photos before unpacking. They told me they'd seen this happen many times before. I followed the claims process exactly. I submitted photos, receipts, itemized lists, everything. They sent me to a claims department with the wrong mailing address and a deliberately complicated process. But I did it all. Then they told me it would take 4 to 9 months to review the claim. Not pay it. Just review it. I went back to Curtis from ProSmart. Told him what was happening. He promised he'd "talk to his team" and "see if they could get me reimbursed sooner." He ghosted me. Called metrohop, Chuck answered the phone. He provided me a quote for $11500 for a full pack and move from a house and storage unit, to our new house using 2 box trucks or 1 tractor trailer. They took a $6k deposit. I verified with Chuck this was for a full pack. He reassured me the price covered everything including packing and boxes. Next day, my wife also called and made sure they were providing a full service pack and move. Chuck repeatedly told her "Yes". After several weeks, SW Vanlines called us and said they are the moving company metrohop contracted. They told me my quote was not for a full pack and move, just a load and go. I called metrohop back and spoke with Tess who was less than helpful and continuously told me they "Never" said it was a full pack, Tess was rude and kept saying, "Chuck would never say that". I asked to speak with a manager and Tess said "I am the manager" I asked her if they recorded their conversations, she said "No". She argued back and forth with me until I asked if they removed the moving of my motorcycle, could they cover the price of a full move. She said "Yes". 2 days before moving day I got a call from a 3rd company called 'backup movers'. Who told me they were now handling my move. The gal on the phone (Alicia) assured me it was for a full pack and move. Day before the move 'backup mover' representative Julia called me and said she can only line up 1 truck. She told me she would try to line up a second truck and call me back. Never got a call. The moving company arrived at the house with 1 truck and told me they could not load anything into the truck until we paid them $7085 more dollars than the quote. I argued back and forth for almost 4 hours. We had to be out of the house by 9pm and at noon, nothing was packed or loaded. I called Tess at metrohop and confronted her about the scam. We signed a contract with Metro Hop LLC on 12/2/25. The items to be shipped were outlined in detail. We were given a quote of $2315. We signed the contract and put down a 1/3 deposit of $863. We were told another third was due at pick up and the final third at delivery. We went through the final list with Meto Hop late afternoon on 12/23 and were even told at that time that we had room to add more if we wanted because we did not meet the 300 sq ft total. At no point were we told the actual movers would recalculate the cost for the move. On pick up day Back Up Movers arrived 12/27/25 in an unmarked box truck. He took pictures of the items and went out to the truck. About 20 minutes he came back in to tell us the new total would be $4632.50. We were given ZERO justification for the new price. We were told by Back Up Movers if we didn't sign off on the $4632.50 they would not pick up the load. No MEASUREMENTS NO CALCULATION was shared. Just a price that had DOUBLED. Their final list lines up entirely with our initial list. There appeared to be no communication between Back up Movers and Metro Hop at this point. We were just handed off to Back UP Movers and cost DOUBLED. After pick up, I asked for a detailed pick up list from Metro Hop several times over two weeks. We never received one. We were fortunate to have taken some photos before they left with the shipment or we would have NOTHING for documentation. That is unimaginable with a $4632.50 purchase!!! While communication with Metro Hop was great the day of the 'sale', it was awful after that. Unanswered phone calls, many unanswered emails and unanswered questions. Clearly Metro Hop runs a bait and switch operation. They give you a low estimate to get the job then the mover gives a vastly different price at pick up and you are over a barrel. Extremely UNETHICAL business. Nobody at Metro Hop was of any help after the price was doubled. To add insult to injury, both at pick up of items and delivery we were told 'no credit cards ' Must use cash, money order, Venmo or Zelle'. The Venmo addresses were different each time. Drivers/movers did not speak good English. Seemed to use it as an excuse at times. Totally shady operation. The driver called a week after we had provided address information. He was sent off with our load and without our delivery address. We were never given a time for delivery. I happened to reach out to the driver, since I had his number from when he didn't know where he was delivering. I asked what day they would arrive -----was told they would be there in ONE HOUR!!!! They kept trying to cancel the time until the next day and then he didn't call to say he was going to make it at 7:00 pm at my storage unit 5 hours late. Had to get my own helper. I made sure everything was strapped in correctly. Had to fight for 2 hours to get them to lower the price after being told they over estimate and then lower if not as much square/cubic feet. I worked with Mr. Steven Johnson at MetroHop for two months leading up to my move. From the start, I was clear that I wouldn't be able to pay the deposit until I closed escrow. Mr. Johnson assured me that this was fine, as long as I kept him in the loop--which I did, consistently, through 21 phone calls, 25 emails, and 66 text messages. A week before the move, he asked me to send a photo of the deposit check so they could get the move scheduled. I explicitly told him the check couldn't be cashed yet, and he acknowledged that. Then, two days later, I received an email saying they would go ahead and process the check. Not long after, I was contacted by their logistics team. The price I was originally quoted turned out to be severely underestimated, and I was forced to pay an unexpected additional $2,188 with barely two days' notice--or the move would be canceled. After I sent in the payment, Mr. Johnson disappeared. He stopped taking my calls and never responded to another email or text. I did close escrow and was ready to pay the balance on move day--but that morning, the carrier contacted me to say their truck had broken down. Later, I learned the moving crew was nowhere near my location and wouldn't be able to come for at least two more days. Since I had already closed escrow, I explained I had no flexibility. The carrier then canceled the move entirely. When I asked about a refund, I was stunned to learn that the carrier never received any money from MetroHop. My original check had bounced--just as I warned it might--and the additional $2,188 I paid had never been passed along. I sent a demand letter to MetroHop, but they've ignored it. They've refused to refund me, despite the fact that the move was canceled by the carrier and the breakdown wasn't my fault. This company operates unethically. They asked to recheck what we had already listed and made the claim about the boxes not originally being included and then told us the new estimate. That was their loop hole. I recently moved from California to Florida, and MetroHop Relocation made the entire experience absolutely seamless. I've had moves in the past that went completely south, so I was understandably nervous about a full cross-country relocation--but this was hands down the best move I've ever had. It all started with the California pickup. The team arrived at my storage unit--about 1,200 cubic feet of items--and handled everything with care. They wrapped and protected any loose or vulnerable pieces and loaded everything into the truck with incredible attention to detail. Even the truck driver was helpful and professional, which really stood out. What truly shocked me was the speed--my belongings arrived in Florida in just four days. I was originally expecting it to take over a week! On arrival, a team of three movers in Florida took over. They were punctual, courteous, and extremely efficient. Not only did everything arrive in perfect condition (not a single item damaged!), but they also helped assemble my furniture and made sure everything was placed exactly where I wanted it. I would put zero stars if I could. First, they're impossible to get a hold of and I really wasn't sure they would show up until the day before I was planning on moving (from CA to AZ). They contract out other movers to move your stuff into a truck, with that I was charged an additional $4000 on top of what they had already charged us for the booking ($4k). Who also was supposed to arrive at 10am and did not arrive until 3pm. Then when they arrived to our new house in AZ with everything, there was no one to unload the truck. We didn't have anyone come until 6pm (the next day) and it was a group of kids who broke half of our furniture. 2 bed frames, a changing table and a dresser were all broken. My experience is now a little bit comical after seeing the others with a similar experience. I heard a lot of "in my 6 years I've never heard this complaint" from the customer service person, Kristin. To reiterate everything everyone else says, do not use this company. There is such a thing as a good broker. This is not one of them. Bit of a long read, but this is how their bait and switch scam works: I spoke with Steven first, and got my move all figured out - $3,150 303 cu ft of space. I gotta give it to this guy, because he made it seem like I was in great hands. He even mentioned me utilizing his services for any future moves. Hell of a performance, Steve. I hope you get the largest cut. 2 days later, I get a call from a guy named Nick to confirm the list of items we're moving. We asked if we could add some things that would potentially be included, but were trying to sell prior to the move. Nick says no problem - they can charge the extra amount and deduct it from the delivery. We pay an additional $800. This is the scam. Nick tells you it will get rectified upon delivery because at delivery it's too late. You need to rectify the cu ft allotment prior to pick up or else they pocket that money. I call my hero, Steve, to save me, but my sweet energetic boy has changed. He was the villain all along. Again, well done man. Ask for a raise or use this review as a reference to get a better cut at your next scam company. I really thought we were gonna be friends after this. Anyway, Steve doesn't say a word and passes me to Kristin (customer service). Kristin's job is now to tell you that no one would ever misguide you at Metro Hop, but she can't do anything because you've already signed your contract. Their paper work backs up everything they say when you call customer service, so you're screwed. All in all folks, read your paperwork. A dishonest business is banking on the fact that you won't, because the papers you sign differ or even contradict what you're being told. When you talk to Steve or any other of these rats, the moment he tells you the moving company he's planning on utilizing - ask for it so you can review them - hang up and call those people direct. SCAMMER!! I wish I would read all of horrible reviews before settling with this company. I scheduled a full service move from NYC to LA. the move was small so they quoted me 2900. The day they agreed to the move they didn't show up. They then came days later saying they didn't know they had to pack my stuff. I spoke with the sales rep Christian who assured me this would be a full service move. Hours later after my stuff was loaded onto the truck they said the cost would be 5700! I live in Los Angeles and was not able to be there so my realtor stepped in. Now nearly three weeks later they are holding my stuff hostage and asking for additional fees to deliver my stuff and want to be paid the remainder PRIOR to unloading my stuff. when I told him I would PAY AFTER my stuff is delivered hes threatening to hold my property for ransom. I'm going to have to the authorities involved. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST. We should all do a class action lawsuit against them. read more

Booked a move from Montana to Philadelphia. Was quoted a price, when moving day came around the actual mover, Spartan transportation Inc. dba Midland Van Lines didn't show up. I was told the quote was low and I needed to pay another $2,000. I was desperate so I did. They loaded my stuff promising to deliver within 10 days. No delivery. After contacting them they said they had 30 days to deliver. That was 32 days ago. Now they say my stuff is in a truck in Salt Lake City and will not tell me when they will deliver. Lesson:DON'T DEAL WITH ANYONE YOU CAN'T LOOK IN THE EYE BEFORE YOU PAY THEM. HAVE AN ATTORNEY REVIEW THE CONTRACT. This is a scam, worst moving company i've ever dealt with. They gave me an initial quote for the inventory I had and once the actual movers came the moving price when up to double what I was supposed to pay!
