Took almost 4 hours to do a basic pedicure and a barely designed full set.... I wish they told me they couldn't do my design in the first place so that I didn't waste my entire day (being my birthday I might add) sitting down for nails I don't even like! Got some chrome yet the powder is spewed all over the nail, the lines looks like someone doing them for the first time; just messy nails but I have no time to go somewhere since I spent 4 hours here! And on top of that they just give me $10 off my service??? If I had more time I would go somewhere to get better nails that are drawn nicer and cleaned up better. I've had nails done for years and just wish techs are most honest about not being able to do it instead of wasting my time trying over and over and over again. I was there three Saturdays ago. The nail lady did not speak English and charged me $78 for a pedicure. I thought I was getting the $68 one. Don't like this place would never go bad. First service is good. They are attentive. But removal of nails is a nightmare. Might as when do it yourself at home. Polish in the same day had peeled of because of air bubbles. Polish wasn't even fully covering nail either. This place is fine. I go in to a quick pedicure clean. They are efficient and seem to be clean. It's convenient and I leave satisfied. My issue is the music is HORRIFIC. I've been on the hunt for my new go-to mail salon so when I saw the photos of this salon, I decided to give it a shot. This was my first time here and first time getting a full set of acrylics done. I've gotten gel polish numerous times but because I'm going on vacation I wanted something that would last a little longer. Since, I've never gotten acrylics done before I wasn't familiar with the process -- however; I was under the impression that the standard practice for getting nails done is to do cuticle treatment. That didn't happen. They only prepped the nails for acrylics and fitted me for tips. I wasn't even given a chance to pick out colors or designs. I had to stop her before she added clear polish (before acrylic paste) to inform her of what design I wanted. They have example sets for you to look at but I ended up choosing an ombré pink to white style. The end product wasn't the best. Some nails aren't as seamless as others, my cuticles aren't clean, and the paste is slightly lifted towards the cuticle. I paid $68 for subpar work. Super cute place, clean, and did a really good job. I've only ever been here for a pedicure before today (which was also great), but Vee did such an amazing job on my acrylic set! She was so sweet. I believe Jenny did the french tips. We ended up doing a pearl chrome over the whole set which I loved, they also have cat eye polishes and a bunch of chrome colors. read more

First time at Metro Nail Bar. I'm always hesitant about trying new nail salons because you never know what you're going to get. I have liquid get on my nails and if the technician doesn't know how to do this service it never comes out right. Well that was the case here. First off my thumbs are completely different lengths. More importantly the job was very sloppy which you can see in the photos. The gel is too thick and looks very unnatural. I asked for almond shape I got stiletto which I absolutely hate. This place used to be my go-to place for years, BUT, shortly after the pandemic, I started doing my own dip powder nails. Yes, it's a learning curve, but I've gotten pretty good at it and now I don't get my nails done anymore (except for special occasions). I've gotten subtle comments on my Instagram posts from them saying "we're open again," and I thought they were being friendly at first, but I learned when I got in to get my nails done, they looked at my nails and said they weren't good. I was proud of my nails and that was hurtful. I wanted a design that they did on their Instagram page with leaves floating and she said I needed a tip since the leaves need to be on a clear tip. I said I didn't want them all to be tips, just the ring finger design. She told me all of them needed to have tips since my nails weren't long enough, which was not true. I ultimately stopped arguing and let her put tips on my nails. She trimmed my nails short to put the tips on. I told her I didn't want the tips to be that long but she kept telling me that longer nails are pretty. I stopped talking about it and just sucked it up. I also wanted dip powder on my nails and she kept on saying gel nail polish is the only thing that can be used on tips. Now that I've been doing my own nails for 2 years, I know that you can use dip powder on tips. In fact, I did it multiple times! Everything seemed to be an excuse to have an upcharge. Also, when I was getting my nails done, the person next to me only got tips on certain nails. So, that was proof that it could be done. Not every nail needs a tip. Additionally, the seats weren't 6 ft apart and it made me nervous. The worst part is when I went to the salon again to get the tips removed (which was by someone else). The person who removed my tips was completely inexperienced and destroyed my nails. She kept on asking if I wanted a fill instead. I said "no" multiple times. I wanted them off so I could go back to doing my own nails. They tried to push me to get holiday nails. I said "no" again. She took cuticle cutters and proceeded to PRY THE TIPS OFF OF MY NAILS with them. I told her it hurt really badly and she ignored me. I pulled my hand away and she kept trying. I asked her if this was the way to do it and she sighed and soaked my nails in acetone. She kept taking them out and trying to pry them off, which chipped and destroyed my nails in the process. She even took a tip from the box and shoved it under my tip to try to pop it off and I started bleeding. Not even a blink from her. Oh yeah, they charged me $10 for this!!! I told the person who rang me up and nothing was done. My nails hurt so badly after this appointment. It took MONTHS for my nails to be healed. PS. I usually only saw CT and now they're "unavailable," even when I made an appointment with CT! They do a bait and switch with others since they're in demand. NEVER coming back here again. It sucks to say since I used to be a regular customer, but I've been burned multiple times. I'll have to search for another salon, again. read more

It's OK but not great. Parking is horrible! I like to feel pampered but it's hard to feel that way when the staff ignores you and speaks Vietnamese, and breaks into laughter amongst themselves the entire time. It's obvious they are laughing at their clients. I'll only go to a nail salon where they do that as a last resort. The nail stations are set up so there is no privacy at all. You have to sit right next to another client. The nail tech did a pretty good job on my nails but one fingernail looks a bit strange. They are a bit on the thick side too. For me, it's OK, and I'd go back If I could not find an appointment somewhere else but it just wasn't my cup of tea. read more

Hate to leave a poor review but I had an unusually bad experience at this salon a few weeks ago and feel the need to provide a heads-up to potential customers. After having called beforehand, and being assured there was plenty of time for a regular pedi, I went in a little over an hour before they closed only to leave before the pedicure was finished. I opted to stop the service for the following reasons: 1. Immediately got the impression of impatience from pedicurist who, in turn, was way too rough with my feet and ended up removing too much cuticle from big toe, causing bleeding and stinging. 2. I asked for callous removal but that too was rushed and below par. 3. I requested a simple clean up and nail trimming but the shape and lengths were all different and overall sloppily done I was mortified that I had to eventually ask the lady to stop and tried to explain why but we hit a language barrier. I've worked in service industry for many years in the past and *so rarely* do I find it appropriate and necessary to "complain" but I was so unhappy with the service provided at this salon that I've made an exception. read more

While my powder dip manicure looked nice, it began chipping within a week. The technician seemed distracted throughout the manicure, looking around the salon, checking out what her coworkers were doing, talking to them, and talking on the phone. I almost felt like my being there was an inconvenience. When I returned for polish removal, they absolutely destroyed my nails. Two months later I still have deep ridges on my nails, and many of my nails are splitting and peeling as they grow out, preventing me from any sort of home manicure until the damage is gone. I don't get regular powder dips, so the damage was definitely from this single manicure. Today was my first time at Metro Nails and wow!! Amy really took care of me. I can honestly say that each and every time I get acrylic nails I always go home and have to touch my nails up with a file or cuticle cutter. But Amy did my nails so perfectly!! It was a 15 minute drive from home and the reviews made me choose this place. The experience was nice--everyone was kind and welcoming, the interior was modern and clean. Nail service: 1.5 stars Customer service: 4.5 stars I went with a group on Sunday for gel mani-pedis. The experience was nice, however on Monday I noticed that 5 of my 10 (gel) nails had started to chip. I returned to the salon on Monday afternoon to have them fixed. The female manager was incredibly nice, incredibly accommodating, and had one of the techs begin buffing and filing the top layer of polish off. When the manager was done with her client she came over to personally fix my nails. She also oiled my cuticles for no charge. When I tried to tip her, she refused to accept my money and apologized again for my trouble. Fantastic customer service! I'm giving them a lower rating however, because it's Wednesday and my nails have chipped again. I work at a desk job so it's not physically active or labor intensive, so there's really nothing to cause the chipping. I wouldn't return for gel because I think it's too pricey for a mani that hasn't lasted 3 days, but the and customer service was great. Got Nail FUNGUS!!! Update - to Managers Response. With all due respect, I gain nothing from trying to ruin your business. What good will it do? What benefit would I get? I am a customer who is writing an honest feedback you don't like. I live in sterling, Va 1 min from your store. I haven't been to Arlington in years. My mental capacity is at 100%. I don't confuse Sterling with Arlington. I haven't gotten my nails done since covid News Years 2020. I recently moved to VA so I have not been anywhere but the Metro Nail Bar is Sterling. Please feel free to sue me. I have phone records coming to my phone to confirm appointment and also bank statement with payment. All say "Metro Nail Bar Sterling". I also have picture of the fungus nail. Also I wasn't talking about washing the chair with bleach. I said other nail salons clean soaking tub with bleach so people don't get infections. Why would anyone clean a chair with bleach?? Also, every time I have been there, there was no disposable plastic cover in the pedicure tub. Maybe that was the problem. All tools used were metal and not reusable. Except for the filer. Every time I went, it was the same technician. I didn't even get into how she couldn't do acrylic, or even polish it was so uneven or fat or how many times she removed it with a nail polish or electric filer to paint again. each appointment took 1-3 hours for routine pedicure and manicure with this person. Obviously, there is a lack of experience. I should have sued you and asked for reimbursement. Yelp is here to give both good and bad feedback so businesses can use that information to improve their business and customers can make decisions. If you take the good feedback and sue everyone who gives bad feedback or remove the feedback you don't like, it beats the purpose of having a feedback. This feedback was given with honesty in a respectful manner. It could have gotten ugly.
