I called to make an appointment and Heather answered the phone. She was not a nice person. I wanted to schedule lash and brow tint plus tanning. She said it wasn't available to do all today. That is fine. I'm in town for the day and I said I would schedule tanning today on line and did she have any suggestions for local lash or brow. She said to google, which is fine. I think I made her angry by asking because all of a sudden, the appointment I wanted for tanning was gone. There are several tanning areas to chose from. Two years ago, my friend recommended me to Heather and I'm so grateful she did because Heather is such a sweetheart! Heather was actually the first ever esthetician I came to to get a Brazilian wax. I actually still remember my first appointment with Heather because I was telling her how nervous I was day of but she made me feel comfortable and guided me throughout the whole waxing process. She even tells you when to take deep breaths for parts that may hurt more than others (I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but it is!)! I actually stopped going to Heather for a year or so because it was difficult to set up appointments with her since I worked in DC. However, now that my schedule is a little more flexible, I switched back to getting waxes by Heather. I'm really glad that I did because she's super sweet and deserves the business. I recently came in to get my arms, legs, and a Brazilian wax done and time flew by so fast because of our conversation. I didn't feel uncomfortable at any point during the waxing session (all of this came out to $170). Prices are extremely reasonable in my opinion. I used to go to one of the waxing chains in Ashburn, and I can definitely tell you that service + price at Voda Spa is way more deserving of my business. Heather also does facials :) I really hope to get a facial done by her sometime soon too. They sounded awesome when I asked her about them, and the fact they all include extractions to get all that gunky stuff out of your skin sounds appealing. In summary, reasonable prices, cozy environment, and excellent customer service. P.S. Weekends can be super hard to book with Heather, so if you need weekend appointments, book them at least 3 weeks in advance. Also, the door to enter Voda Spa is on the side of the building. She offered a heartfelt apology and a complimentary wax, which I did not take, but the gesture was very nice. Good customer service after a bad experience so I am appreciative. One of the worst Brazilian waxes I've ever received and I've been getting them for over . The experience itself was okay - the facility was clean and I felt comfortable (hence 2 stars instead of 1) - but I could tell as the esthetician was doing it that it wasn't going to end well. She used one type of wax the whole time (i.e hard with no soft) and her technique was just ripping without keeping the skin taught or applying pressure. The skin around my most sensitive areas has been ripped off and hurts still so I can't wear jeans or tight shorts. Also, horrible attention to detail; she used just overheard lights, which were dim in the first place, and didn't bother tweezing. I feel like I got scammed because of how much hair was left behind in numerous places - good thing I wasn't planning on wearing a bikini anytime soon. In support of small businesses, I checked Yelp hoping to find a good therapist/aesthetician. I had bookmarked Voda Spa for a few months and came across a Living Social deal. This was my time to finally see what other Yelpers were talking about. Heather is such a nice lady, very patient and definitely skilled/knowledgeable. I had a 60 minute facial with a mini massage. My face must have known I was going to visit her because about a week earlier, it decided to break out. Heather was able to address my skin issues and provide me with a really relaxing facial - it was so relaxing, I FELL ASLEEP. The mini massage was for my legs/feet and hands. It was great to get the warming 'socks' put on my feet, I have circulation issues, so my feet are usually cold. The whole experience was super relaxing, not only was it difficult for me to stay awake, I just wanted to stay on the heated table with the warming socks on. Heather's business is located in a quiet residential area. A large, white house has been turned into a 'multiplex' of businesses and Voda Spa is located on the second floor. Very disappointed with customer service. As a first time customer I arrived at 10:44 am for an 11am spray tan. I walk in and identify myself and told to come back at 11! I was in shock..wasn't invited to wait in waiting room. Had to wait in car until 11! Person rudely hollered at me saying sorry and never had anyone react as I did. This review is long overdue! Heather is absolutely wonderful. I found her on Yelp and I have to agree with all the other reviewers- she is amazing. I know most of her clients go for waxing, but I starting seeing Heather for microdermabrasion facials a few months before my wedding. I have acne prone skin and I really wanted clear, glowing skin for my big day. The facials are pricey (here and everywhere), but SO worth the investment. I could tell the difference after just a few treatments- my skin was glowing- it was clearer, smoother, and my pores were significantly smaller (especially on my nose). I got so many compliments in the months leading up to my wedding and on my wedding day. Even my make up artist complemented me on my complexion! Now about Heather and her little spa... She is a very warm and genuine person. She has a calming personality which put me at ease (especially when I tried a spray tan and I was pretty much butt naked in front of her). Heather was the first esthetician who did my very first full Brazilian wax two years ago. Back then, I had a huge fear of the process and shaved all the time. Heather put me at ease and chatted with me throughout the whole process, worked very fast by ripping off small patches of hair at a time and using a tweezer to make sure there are no in-grown hairs left behind. She also encourages you to inhale and exhale at the appropriate times should there be a slight "twing" of discomfort. I've gotten waxed at some different spas (underarms and Brazilian) and have either been burned, or left with wax/hair on the waxed area. Not with Heather... Yesterday, I went for my first Brazilian wax with Heather at Voda and can only say that she has gotten even better! As a distance runner building milage week after week, it is now becoming more imperative for me to keep up with my waxing regime. I'm due for my period next week and am usually overly sensitive in that area, but decided to bite the bullet and get it done regardless.The outcome? The waxing was flawless, virtually painless and simply magical! Heather is really skilled and awesome; why go anywhere else? Like some of the other Yelpers on here, I also followed Heather from her last spa and love the fact that she has opened Voda Spa & Wellness Studio! I saw Heather 2 years ago for a Brazilian as she was referred by a friend. She was nice and friendly but the best thing was, her clinic is very clean and hygienic. It was my first time but she was really good and finished quickly so my suffering wasn't too bad. Every other place looked filthy to me after my visit at Heather's clinic. I followed the owner, Heather, from her last spa and am so glad she decided to open her own place. She's great at waxing - I get both brazillian and underarm. She has a great sense of humor and totally puts you at ease. Not an easy feat when you've got your junk hanging out with hair being ripped out! She also does small sections at a time so that lessens the pain vs. one big swatch. She also doesn't bat an eye should you feel the need for a well-placed piece of profanity during the waxing (KELLY CLARKSON!!) -again, totally puts you at ease. I've also had a facial and massage and actually fell asleep on the table the last time I had a massage. I'm a total Type-A who can never fully relax, so to zone off and start snoring was HUGE. I've visited Heather for several facials in the past couple of years, and although my experience with facials elsewhere is limited, I can't imagine it can get any better! Getting there - Booking online is a breeze, and she has some appointments in the evenings (but they fill up fast!). Her office is in an upper floor room of a really cool old historic home that has been converted into office space. It is easy to find (near the intersection of Herndon Parkway and Grant) and there is ample parking. She used to be in a smaller room right next to where she is now - her current space is beautiful and spacious with gorgeous wood trim and a little office in a side room. She has done a lovely job decorating it and creating a serene atmosphere with soothing colors and music. Being there - The facial is very relaxing and she throws in some "extras" that I don't think are typical like a neck/leg/foot massage and warming booties. Last time she trimmed my eyebrows also - not sure if that is now a part of the service or if she just noticed I needed it! I notice a big difference in the quality of my skin for weeks afterward, especially related to blackheads. My favorite part is that she is able to eradicate millia (little white bumps caused by dead skin accumulation) - I get maybe 10-12 a year and hate them, and a lot of facialists won't treat them because it requires piercing the skin slightly. If not removed, they can accumulate for YEARS and become quite large. Heather is amazing with these, she even got rid of a tricky one over my eye recently! She also makes paying/tipping easy through a tablet app - you have the option to add the tip to your credit card which isn't always an option elsewhere. Other notes - I am not into waxing, but that is what she is famous for (especially bikini area). I have talked to her about it quite a bit and I see why! She takes it very seriously and has done extensive training and research to make it as painless an experience as possible (she says she developed a passion for this after having an unpleasant waxing experience herself). She clearly takes her business and clients very seriously and really seems to enjoy the work and have a lot of pride in doing the best job she can. I have always been self concious at even the thought of getting a full Brazilian done, but hey fat girls want to be well groomed too. I specifically mention being a bigger girl, as many of us need services like this but do not know who to see. Well ladies, no matter what your size - go to see Heather. She is wonderful. No judging here. Her salon is clean, calming, and inviting. It's located in a house so it feels more like you're visiting her at home. As for the waxing itself?
