I ordered two custom screens from Metro Screenworks. The measurements that I originally gave them were slightly off. You do need to measure yourself and provide them with precise measurements. Step 1 - Charge nine hundred dollars for custom screens. Step 2 - Make every single one roughly 3/16 of an inch too wide. Step 3 - Refuse all responsibility for the problem and suggest the customer find someone competent to resize them. I mean, they only make the screens, you see. Correcting a frame size problem? Quite beyond them, evidently. In hindsight, the fact they use a celebrity comedian as a spokesman should have made it clear that this is not a business. This is community theater with aluminum framing. Still, they offered twenty percent off the next catastrophe. How generous. I had a great experience with Metro Screenworks. I first found them on Amazon looking for a window screen, where I quickly learned there is no such thing as a standard window screen size. Unfortunately the Amazon screen builder didn't include the screen mesh I wanted (no see um fine insect mesh) so I called Metro Screenworks and worked with Shaun Sindelman to get the screen measured and ordered. I was surprised how difficult it was for me to get the right measurements on a tiny bathroom screen but using their wesbsite I was able to get it finally and once I had that Shaun sent it off to manufacturing and a week later, voi la! I received the screen today and using the little pull tabs on the right side of the screen that I requested I was able to snap the screen in with a tight locked fit. Much better than the previous screen which did not come in all the way because there were no pull tabs on it so it basically hung slightly loose for years, letting insects come in freely. Final thing I'll add is the screen arrived packed neatly in a strong wood enforced box thing. No way was that thing getting damaged in shipping. I'm thrilled with the experience and would recommend Metro Screenworks to anyone - just be sure to get your measurements correct! Most of us don't measure anything to 1/16th an inch very often so be sure to use their measuring guide to make sure you are reporting your measurements correctly to them prior to getting the screen made. read more

Decent product, but the order process had real hiccups and sizing issues I ordered custom retractable screens (built by Genius) through Metro Screenworks and had a mixed experience overall. On the plus side, the support rep I worked with, Andrew, was consistently polite and responsive, and the screens themselves are well-made once everything was sorted out. He stayed in communication throughout and worked as the go-between with the manufacturer to get my issues addressed. The problems: my initial order arrived with several sizing errors. Four of six side rails were short of the ordered height about 1/8", and two were a completely different size altogether. There was also an inconsistency in the wind/bug pile between rails (some thicker, some thinner). Getting replacements took longer than it should have -- at one point the reorder apparently slipped through the cracks entirely and wasn't placed until I followed up. The corrected tracks eventually arrived, but the back-and-forth stretched over roughly a month. One important heads-up for anyone ordering: the finished screens height come in about 1/8" short of the size you submit. Example if you need 50" Screens will be shorter by 1/8". The Left/Right size is about 1/16" shot of submitted size. Factor this in when measuring your opening, especially for tight tolerances. I did ask whether they could offer any courtesy for the repeated errors and delays, and they declined, which was a bit disappointing given how many rounds it took to get a correct order. Bottom line: the end product is solid and the support staff are friendly, but the quality control on custom sizing and the turnaround on fixing mistakes left something to be desired. Manage your timeline expectations and double-check how they interpret your measurements if you're ordering custom. read more

I ordered a minitrack kit with the intention of doing a large porch. The spline that the kit comes with is too large for the screen I am using but there is no way of switching it out, and no way of processing the return. Incredibly unhelpful and unwilling to make changes. read more

Bought the double retractable screen door for our French doors to the patio. It has been nothing but a nightmare to install by ourselves to fit our doors - had to order special parts, etc. - even though it was a standard size that should have fit our standard door frame (not custom). We contacted support and after recommended adjustments and multiple efforts the screens still will not retract without jamming & falling out of the frame. There are no installers anywhere near where we live to fix it and they had no other solutions to offer. So far no handyman has been able to get it to work like it should, claiming design flaws. Do not recommend purchasing the double retractable screens unless you have a professional installer available. read more

All original box and supplies saved to return. Customer service said no returns on these products. Was told to sell it online. I ordered the Genius Retractable Screen for a single door, and I LOVE it! It was so easy to put together. It snaps together and its 4 screws that secure it in the door frame. They'll ask you not to refuse shipment if the screens are damaged during shipping. REFUSE SHIPMENT or they will avoid making it right. I spent roughly a grand with Metro, across 2 orders. For that wild sum, I received 3 unbent screens, 2 that were somewhat bent, and 1 that was bent beyond repair. That last one cost $250. They've refused to replace it, and instead offered: $60 plus screen materials, $85 and no materials, or (after some insistence) a refund if I *mail the broken frame back*. (On the "good" ones, they didn't even push in the splines all the way, though I'd have been happy if that was my only cause for complaint.) All in all, although they charge more than their mail-order competitors, don't assume that you'll get more, or even what you paid for. read more

I do not recommend this company. After three months of trying to get a quote--just a quote--on a pair of custom-made aluminum swinging screen doors, I gave up. The process started off reasonably well with an exchange of emails to confirm the style and dimensions needed. After that, it went downhill. I never heard another word without me being the one to follow up. Promises to keep me informed never happened--not once. I started this process in late May. It is now late August and still no quote; again, just a quote. They clearly do not care about my business. Ordered some new screens and a brand new sliding screen door a few years ago. Pretty much everything arrived damaged the first time around, so they resent out new screens. For the screen door, they asked if they could just send me the broken parts and have me rescreen it myself - I said yes here because I didn't want to be any trouble (they did offer to give me a small discount). This later turned out to be a mistake. After several iterations of having parts sent to me, I still don't have a functioning screen door. Additionally, the final door frame they sent me does not have the correct holes to install the door handle on. I'd recommend staying away. read more

STAY AWAY!!!!! I ordered "custom" pet screens online and what came was frankly garbage. The screens were not taut but loose and billowy- the frame felt like plastic and everything about it was obviously low quality. EXCEPT for the price. I paid $100 plus for EACH screen and they felt and looked like $10 screens. I thought I was paying for quality screens from their website and fancy videos they post up. I installed one in my high floor window to test and immediately took it down because the loose screens were billowing in and out like crazy that one strong wind would DEFINITELY have knocked them out of the window and god forbid damage property or hurt someone below. HUGE HUGE liability issue. This company is a complete rip off. Their return policy? Customer service says I can't return these "custom" screens. They are not custom made, they looked like they were made in a foreign country and this company stuck plastic cheap silver coated tabs on them and labeled it custom made. They are going in the garbage, I cannot even give it away if I wanted to because of low quality and liability issue. I wish I read the Yelp reviews here because I am seeing a pattern. Ugh ! I bought rolling screen door kits. Materials were surprisingly heavy duty and solid. Everything fit. Very good packaging to avoid scratches. A couple of corners bent but they were easily fixable without damage. Price was good, reasonable, especially given the quality. I bought these over the winter and only inspected them until the summer. I noticed one of the handles was cracked. My husband and I purchased a house in Florida with a three-door glass slider with no screen. We love opening the door to listen to the fountain and nature; however, we found that even though we have a large screened - in lanai, the cute chameleons are in our lanai too. At times we have found dead chameleons in our house which is very upsetting. We called a professional screening company who told us there are no such screens for such an old slider and that we would have to replace it for $10k. This was not an option for us. So, I went online and found METRO SCREENWORKS, INC. My husband and I felt the Zig Zag retractable screen would work on the inside of the slider, so we measured twice, then ordered it. We are so glad we did. What a wonderful well-made product. We are now able to keep our slider open and the screening keeps the chameleons out of our house. We also like the fact that when we do keep the glass slider closed - we still slide the screening over to cut the sun glare. These are amazing - buy it! Bendable screens has got to be the best invention ever for windows. Easy to install, and such a wide variety of screen materials. For the west facing window, purchased the solar screen and it really does help block the heat. For the east facing windows, purchased the BetterVue Invisible screens - very nice! I searched online for a way to turn my patio into a screened-in porch, and found Metroscreenworks. I opted for the porch panels to cover most of the patio, relatively cheap and easy to assemble and install. Some of the corners of the aluminum frames were bent easily (during shipping and/or assembly), but it's not noticeable once it's installed. The more expensive option (and requiring more install time) would be to have retractable screens in each panel/area (between posts). The door was done using a dual/french door-type called the Milano 200 (100 is for a one-sided rollup door). That was a little more complicated to install, but doable. I'm really happy with how this turned out- keeps bugs and leaves out, looks really good. I would totally recommend doing this, and using Metroscreenworks. The customer service rep Lee was very patient and knew the answers to all my questions. One issue that came up regarding drill bit sizes- he got to the bottom of it with the manufacturer and let me know how to fix it easily. FYI, I had to do weatherstripping myself on top/bottom because I'm screening in between concrete and vinyl siding. Take a look at the before/after pics. I love it! read more

TL;DR: Poor final product: entire door did not fit properly, parts didn't fit well when assembled. Assembly was super difficult. Nothing like what was shown in the video. The 94% review their website claims does not seem legit. I ordered a custom sized door unassembled. The video that shows the assembly should be "easy" did not accurately portray the actual, much more difficult, assembly process. Pieces did not fit correctly, there were screw holes that weren't properly sized, and sharp corners were left on the frame. I am a mechanical engineer so I can speak for manufacturing processes. These guys clearly had little quality checks for their final products. I am sure that even the assembled product would have just as bad of a build quality. The worst part is, when I contacted them about these problems, they just apologized and offered no corrective action for their poor quality. And words are just as good as nothing. read more

I have a problem with raccoons and purchased some pet proof screens from these guys.. customer service was great and I'm very happy with the product. So I decided to replace my screen doors and bought the unassembled screen doors. Quality of screens, frames, door rollers (stainless steel) were great. The handle and lock mechanism however is flimsy and I doubt will last very long. They're actually less robust than the cheap screen doors at Home Depot...kinda disappointed... The assembly instructions are awful but previous reviews had mentioned that and I found some YouTube videos that helped. read more
