There are plenty of items to look through (old and new) to bring character into the home or space that you intend to work on. Lots of peace of mind to bring things that you can no longer use making this a great rotating operation. The proceeds and donated items go towards building homes for low income individuals/ families that can receive a mortgage based on income. At least that was what it was when it first started. (I had the opportunity to volunteer on a renovation of a home as a youth and found it a rewarding experience to meet the homeless family that would be moving into the finished structure.)
