He recommended a list of potential medications he could prescribe, and sent them to my PCP. My PCP received the list, but none were within his specialty to prescribe himself. I called back and forth for over a month, having the staff gatekeep, and finally getting ahold of Dr. Diesfeld to figure out a solution and way to prescribe the medication. I explained the problems I ran into getting HIS recommended medications prescribed, and also his staff making cruel jokes at my expense. He informed me it was likely because the nurses saw alcohol in my urine. He told me I "pissed straight vodka into the cup."I reminded him I drank the night before and no other night that month. He deflected and promised to talk to my PCP. He called my PCP, (lied about previously trying to reach out to his clinic according to my PCP) and when my PCP asked Dr. Diesfeld why I hadn't received treatment over a month in a half after an appointment for my un-managed chronic pain, which has been ruining my life? He said he made it clear to me he wasn't treating me due to my substance issues, citing marijuana and alcohol in my urine. During the appointment he notably agreed marijuana shouldn't be considered substance abuse in the way I was using it, nor did he raise any concern when I told him I will drink one or two beers sometimes, or especially the night before. My PCP even vouched for my substance use, or rather that it was irrelevant to treating me, and that nothing was pointing to me being an addict. After speaking with my doctor, he called me, and attempted to re-contextualize everything he told my doctor. Between Dr. Diesfeld and my PCP, I am trusting the one that doesn't typecast me as a drug seeking doctor hopper. If you have to go to this clinic, make sure you cleanse yourself of any substance they deem offensive, legal or not, come with everything necessary, and look as proper and clean cut as you can, or you should languish in their eyes.

So basically, there are no appointments. Everybody just walk in. Great during a pandemic. The first thing you might notice when you walk in is that there are brown patches on the ceiling where water is clearly leaking from the roof. Somehow I don't think mold is a great addition to a healthcare provider's office. The next thing you might notice is that the receptionist will push different "better" insurance on you. The third thing you might notice is the chairs in the waiting room are still situated right next to each other, as if there's no pandemic and no regard for social distancing. The fourth thing you might notice is the infestation. I saw a MASSIVE quarter-sized beetle crawling in the middle of the waiting room with no fear. Clearly bugs have found an appealing home in this waiting room. The final thing you notice before you walk out the door is that they only take cash up front. No credit cards. Just like the 1960s. How retro and inconvenient! If you have any regard for your health and safety, pick a doctor who works at another location. I can't say how good Dr. Yeo is. From other reviews, he sounds great. But after strike 5 at this facility, I think it's time for me to walk out.

I am also usually able to get a spot within a reasonable period of time (not 6-8 weeks out like so many Chicago doctors). However, the real reason for the 5th star is Dr. Reyes. Dr. Reyes has the best bedside manner of any doctor I've ever seen. She actually takes the time to listen to your symptoms, concerns, and history. Dr. Reyes also seems to genuinely care about my health and well-being as much as I do, acting sympathetic toward even seemingly minor complaints. Miraculously, she is able to give this much attention to her patients and STILL her office runs on time. I don't know how she does it--I've never waited more than 5 minutes for an appointment. I first saw Dr. Reyes in January 2014 when she was with the Advocate group. I was disappointed when I called later for another appointment and they told me she was no longer there. The staff had no information on where she was practicing or how to contact. I was forced to try other PCPs, and it was only when I needed a check-up in 2017 that I finally found Dr. Reyes again. I was told that microneedling and prp would help reduce the stretch mark, I decided to go for it. It all went downhill from here. I came in for my appt. after work and they were running behind, I waited for almost an hour, fine with me. Then I was finally taken in the room and I showed her which areas I wanted to get done and she proceeded to tell me "oh that's a big area, I won't be able to get everything done today, can you come back tomorrow for the rest?" I said that's fine. Then we proceeded to get my blood drawn and she added numbing cream to the area but of course.... she was running out of numbing cream so she barely put any. She leaves the room while we wait for the numbing cream to kick in but then I waited for almost an hour cause she was still trying to take care of another patient, she kept apologizing and kept saying she doesn't understand why the front desk only books for X amount of time for these kind of session. When she finally came back to do the microneedling, she warned me it was going to be prickling... fine but then she also kept going over the same area because she wanted "to go deeper to get the most out of it"... I was in pain but I held it in because I trusted her.... she kept going over the area MULTIPLE TIMES!!!! I left there in so much pain and couldn't shower for days... I paid a pretty good amount for the session, came back the following day to another esthetician and paid for "another session" even though my first session wasn't done. I told the front desk but I didn't want to argue with them and was just glad that something can be done with the stretch mark. The second session was much less invasive and the healing process took no more than 3 days. The first session was still no where close to healing after 3 days... all in all it took almost a month for it heal. It took almost a whole week before I could shower normally and tolerate the pain from the wound. I was told that I would need a series of this process and should wait 4-6 weeks to come back. I was also told the healing process would take no longer than a week... true for the second session but completely false for the first session. For almost the entire month I was in pain but I thought it was normal because she had done it deeper, nor did she tell me to put anything on it to help with the healing process. Fast forward to 6-8 weeks later, I started getting hyperpigmentation... it was done wayyyy to deep that it damaged my skin. I called them and sent them pictures about it and I was told... "it may have been because I was stress" I ended up going to another place asking about it and the doctor told me that they should have been more careful as this area is sensitive and that they had damaged my skin due to the fact that they went too deep. I was given a hyperpigmentation bar to use and a cream to help with this but I've been even more self conscious about my legs than I ever was before. It's summer and I've not worn shorts or any type of clothing that would show my legs... I tried to come back but my schedule was getting pretty hectic and then when I was finally able to make an appointment it got rescheduled because the doctor was going to be out at which point I just gave up because I don't think they would have been able to help me, I was really curious to see what they would have said but I don't think they would have done anything.. they were no where near apologetic about what happened nor where they trying to help out. Now I'm down almost $600 only to leave with even worse feeling than before. My nurse was informative and personable, and really went the extra mile- she actually called me a few hours after my appointment because she thought she had failed to thoroughly explain something to me regarding my follow up. And most importantly my doctor, Joanna Lepkowski, was wonderful! Easy to talk to, took her time while being efficient, and very knowledgeable. I also did not have to wait very long (maybe 10min), thought the office was easily reached by transit, and have not had any difficulties with insurance etc. I am happy to have chosen Advocate as my healthcare provider. However, I will say that it has been extremely difficult to schedule follow up appointments. I have called several times and been on hold forever before getting through.

It's a great location in Portage Park/6 Corners. The doctors are great however they cancel or change your appointment without consulting with you. I've had this happen more than once with two different providers. I really struggle with professional lack of reliability. It's also very challenging to get an appointment in a short turnaround time. This place works for now but if there's not more consistency I'll have to change providers
