I send my hotel guests to Metro everyday and am consistently met by the rudest operator imaginable. If he hates his job so much he should really just quit. We will be sending folks to other services from now on. read more

This review is not for 1 ride. This review is for 3 weeks of prescheduled, prebooked pickups, meaning an APPOINTED PICKUP at the same time and location. Out of 15 pickups, 3 were within 10 minutes if the appointment (late less than 10 minutes). The other 12 were anywhere from 17 to 70 minutes late. I prebooked and prescheduled my pickup for 2230. This is so I have plenty of time to get to work by 2300. I am here for a 13 week contract and renting a vehicle is not feasible. The Bus routes do not go where I need to go, and I have a disability that prevents me from walking long distances. I am also hesitant to walk to work at night due to this same disability. If I fall and hurt myself, no one will see me until daylight. I have been late to work multiple times due to the failures of cabs showing up on time. Each time I am late I get demerits, my contract agency gets demerits and I do not get paid for the time I miss. I have gotten every excuse from both the dispatchers and the cab drivers. I pay by credit. I made this very clear when I prebooked and prescheduled my pickups. The dispatchers often entice a driver to take the short fare by telling the driver I will pay cash. When the driver finds out I am paying credit, all hell breaks loose. I have had their drivers swear and spit at me. One even threatened me. The drivers often reject the pickup because it is not a long distance and therefore not a large fare. The 3 drivers who have shown up at a reasonable amount of time realize that I tip well. So, that short trip earns a 50 % tip. IF the driver would only show up at a reasonable time. Unreasonable time equals no tip. Swearing, spitting and threatening driver equals no tip. Metro Cab of Boston DOES NOT SERVE THE GREATER BOSTON AREA. Their drivers simply drive around and around the greater Boston area offering as little service as possible. Their dispatchers read from scripts, "Oh, I am so sorry for the inconvenience". Lying to the drivers and to the customers is NOT AN INCONVENIENCE. IT IS FRAUD. read more

I called to book a car and spoke to two of the rudest human beings I have ever talked to. They acted as if it is unthinkable that I would call for a cab on a sunday night. They dropped off a disabled guy in a wheel chair and left him at a store with all his clothes. They abandoned him at a store. Cops came and called an ambulance to take him. They will be held accountable for this. The plate and cab was all recorded on camera. That poor disabled guy in the wheel chair had no idea what was going on. Cops are investigating. read more

Lemme start by saying I've been using Metrocab for a year and I was a very loyal customer. I used them about twice a month. Always has a great cab drivers but this last trip just ruined them for me and will never use them again... mostly on their part. I took a cab from the airport home. I accidentally clicked cash instead of credit at the end of my ride. I asked the driver if he could fix it back to credit and he said no. I called Metrocab and asked if I could pay over the phone, the operator said no. I told my driver I have an emergency $100 bill and asked if he had change for that, he said no. I asked him how I could pay him because he wasn't providing any assistance other than just staring at me. He told me he can drive me to an ATM so we did that and I got cash out. Then he said he'd have to charge me for the ride home. I paid him and walked home because I wasn't paying more. I'm was fuming by that point. I called Metrocab to complain about this situation because I'm sure I'm not the only one who accidentally clicked cash instead of credit. I got hung up on. TWICE! We were ghosted twice by this company in our four-day stay in Boston, waiting twice (!!!) over 45 minutes for multiple cabs that never came. All I received was an automated phone call saying they were coming. 45 mins later when no one showed, I ended up having to scramble to find another ride and barely made my flight. Metro Cab provides great service. I am able to reserve a cab the night before (usually going to the airport) and I never worry about them not showing up on time (often a bit early!) Contrary to others' reviews, I've actually been nothing but pleased with MetroCab's services. They make it incredibly easy to schedule a cab. They allow for 24 hours in advance, keep a profile for yourself, and have always been interested in me as a customer and my travels to the airport. Each cab has been a new, clean, and safe car. Always arriving on time, if not, within 5 minutes of the schedule time. I usually wait for the cab downstairs, however, they will call and say "take your time" when they arrive. Upon arrival, they have always gotten out and assisted with carrying my bags and putting them in the trunk. They offer both cash & card services. Including, screens in the back for entertainment and tracking your payment for the ride. From Logan to Back Bay i've never paid for than $25 + tip. read more

Metro Cab is the worst! Never again! We live in Boston for 35 years and try to support cabs. Twice recently , we called for Metro Cab for the Airport and it was 15 minutes late. Yesterday we reserved a cab for 4:30 and it never came. Started calling at 4:40.. finally answered . The cab never came. Order an Uber at 4:40am , came at 4:50 am , got us to Logan at 5:00am and just made the flight.. the staff at American Airlines assisted us. Never order Metro Cab again read more

The driver had to pick me up in Chelsea and that was fine but when he got down to Boston , I asked him to wait outside this pharmacy for only a few minutes--I was 2-3 minutes. He had taken off--I thought-- he wouldn't do that-the fare was high already--but he never showed up and after 20 minutes of standing in the freezing cold weather sick---I went to see if he had parked across the street.-The Bruins game was on and it was right there but no he was not--I was too cold and there were two cabs--I knew both drivers--I got into one cab and then the other cab beckoned me, I realized it was not the original driver--but I was freezing and he remembered me and he was so kind as was the guy who drove me out to the drs today . HORRIBLE experience trying to schedule with this cab company. My group was trying to schedule early morning cabs to get to the train station. The cab company we had been using was booked and gave us the information for this cab company to call. After calling the first time and asking to book 2 cabs the person on the phone was EXTREMELY rude and said "I'll think about it." And hung up the phone. We called back and said we needed to book a reservation and we were told to call back in the morning and then they'd decide. My husband just had his 1st round of chemo and Boston Medical Center arranged this business to get us home. The cab service calls us to tell us the driver arrived-but had to go on another call and that another cab would take us home. This is where s*it gets stank. So, we're in the other cab and this f*fucker changes the GPS direction-not realizing we're watching him do this. He's taking us out of the way-more than a mile. Then? If your idea of a good time is being harassed about wanting to pay via credit card each time you enter a cab in Boston, then Metro Cab is the company for you. If your credit card machine is "not working,'' you should inform customers when they enter the car. As someone who often doesn't carry a lot of cash, this is important information and I will likely have to get another cab, or find an ATM, which will just cost more money in the long run. Twice in one day I've had cab drivers ask for cash, after I specifically said I'd like to pay with a card. Tried to schedule a van pickup the night before for a 6:45am pickup for a group of girls attending a volleyball tournament. Was told that I needed to call the morning of. I called at 5:45am the morning of to schedule, was then told to call 20min. before! I called 20 min. before, requesting 2 vans for our group. Continued to wait for the 6:45am pickup.... a car (not a van) pulls up almost 15 min. late then could only hold 3 people?!! WHAT??? Ridiculous, then the driver was rude to our girls! The 2nd van finally showed up AFTER we then scheduled a Lyft, at that point almost 30 min. late! Do yourself a favor and just book a Lyft or Uber! I ONLY take MetroCab home from the airport after work trips. Their cars are always spotlessly clean and they take credit card. The downside is that the drivers NEVER know where they're going and need directions. On my last trip, the driver also didn't speak English and didn't understand my directions, so his mistakes (taking wrong exit, etc) added $20 to the ride. On my ride from the airport this morning, the taxi driver told me I'd have to give him directions... and then took 93 instead of McGrath Highway as I asked. I had to give him zig-zagging directions through Somerville to my home and he turned to me and asked "Do you know where you are going?" Ummmmm excuse me? YOU DIDN'T TAKE THE ROUTE I TOLD YOU TO. A Metro Cab driver (#276) merged into my lane while I was a.)already established in a lane b.)just coming out of Cape traffic. The driver proceeded to blame me, saying that I merged into his lane. It's caused complete chaos with both insurance companies, as his dishonest statement has left me in a precarious situation (Boston police no longer file police reports at car accident scenes due to defunding). This is a horrible company. If I could give minus star I would. The driver who drove me from South Station to my home was so so rude. He missed the right exit. He took extra extra tours around my house. I told him to stop and then I got out of the car in the middle of the night, called for an uber. From south station to my home was supposed to take 34 dollars at most. Because of his intentional touring, it took 43 dollars (even without arriving my home!) and then I got angry told him to stop. It was the end of a very pleasant Boston mini-vacation. My dad, brother and I needed a ride to South Station to catch the 10 am bus to Concord, NH. We were at the Yotel, a very short ride from a to b. I called the cab at 9 am. Being it was a Saturday, there was very little traffic. I have a new phone, and for reasons I cannot explain, sometimes makes beeping noises (like someone is pressing the number buttons) whilst in conversation. The dispatcher seemed in a foul mood to begin with, and Mumbled something that I didn't hear, and the phone went dead. I called back to find out what he said, and I was told the cab would be there "in a few minutes". Waiting, waiting... 15 minutes, 20... So I called again to check on the cab's whereabouts, and was greeted by a yelling dispatcher- screaming that "if I kept playing with my phone, he wasn't going to send me a cab". I attempted to apologize for the unintentional strange cell phone noises, but I was cut off and he said the cab would be there in 20 minutes, then hung up on me. (We didn't take the T because my dad felt more comfortable with a cab.) The cab finally arrived, but by the time we got to the bus terminal, we had already missed the 10am. So thanks to "Mr. Louis Depalma" the grouchy dispatcher, for making me, my brother, and my 95-year-old Navy Veteran father wait another 2 hours for the next bus. I sent the following email (edited below to fit on Yelp) to MetroCab several months ago, and included the number of the cab at issue, and I never received any response whatsoever (nada. zip.): I am writing to inform you about a terrible experience that I had in one of your cabs two nights ago. The driver was offensive and frightening. I took a cab from near my office in Boston to my home in JP. I got in on the left side of the cab. As soon as we started driving, the driver told me to move over to the right side of the cab so that he could talk to me. He asked my occupation, and I told him I am a lawyer. He said, "Let me ask you this. Why are all you fucking lawyers for Obama?" There was nothing about my appearance or conduct that had any connection to politics of any kind. I said, "Um, I don't know. I don't think all lawyers are for Obama." The driver said, "Oh yes, all lawyers are for Obama. You're for Obama, aren't you?" The driver harassed me for the rest of the drive. His voice was raised and he occasionally cursed. I tried to indicate that I didn't want to talk to him by calling my husband to tell him I was on my way home, but the driver kept yelling at me. Besides the fact that the interaction was unpleasant, the driver seemed unhinged, and I was scared about being alone in his car. I wanted to tell the driver to stop and let me out, but we were not in a neighborhood in which I felt comfortable at night as a single woman. My interactions with the driver included the following: --He told me that Obama is a socialist and that I was stupid if I didn't realize it. He told me that because he is from the former Soviet Union, he knows about socialism, but lawyers here are too stupid to know about it. --He said that most other taxi drivers "are all MUSLIMS. Muslims all love Obama because they hate America, and Obama also hates America." He said, "I'm telling you, if [any other taxi drivers] were for Obama, it is because they are Muslims. All Muslims are trying to destroy America." --He harassed me several times about "why all lawyers are for Obama." I told him that I didn't think that all lawyers are for Obama, and he told me I didn't know anything if I believed that. --He said that only socialists, Muslims, and Fascists are pro-Obama. He said, "Name one foreign leader who is pro-Obama who is not anti-America." When I declined to do so (because I was trying not to engage with him), he told me that it was because I couldn't. --He told me that "Obamacare" was a socialist healthcare plan; that Obama had written a healthcare law that was 2200 pages and hadn't read a page of it; that Romney's healthcare plan was only 1500 pages and Romney had read every page of it. --He told me that I would regret voting for Obama once I had "three or four babies." I said, "How do you know I am going to have babies?" He said, "Oh, you will, you're a woman." I said, "Maybe I don't want children. You don't know." He said, "Well, if you never have babies, you will never realize how stupid it is to vote for Obama." --At one point, I tried ignoring the driver. I looked down at my phone. The driver said, "Well?!? What do you have to say to that?" I said, "I'm sorry, I didn't hear what you said." He got angrier than he already was and told me that he had already repeated his question twice. At all times, I kept my voice light and non-confrontational. I did not try to convince him of any of my views. Indeed, I'm not particularly interested in debating politics with ANYONE, even friends, let alone a cab driver I don't know. At all times, the driver's voice was raised and confrontational. At times, the driver maintained eye contact with me in the rearview mirror and slowed his driving down to almost a crawl, as harassing me, rather than driving me, took most of his concentration. I have experienced many different types of drivers in Boston: drivers who don't speak a word to me; drivers who want to tell me about the geography of Boston, or sports, or who want to know what I do for a living and how I like JP; drivers who listen to the radio very loudly; drivers who talk on their cell phones the entire time; drivers who know exactly how to take me to my destination; drivers who need me to direct them; even drivers who are not particularly safe drivers! I consider all of these drivers well with the range of what's to be expected when I get in a cab in Boston, and I would never think of complaining about any of them. If I have a below-average experience, I simply give the driver a smaller tip than usual. This experience, however, was well outside the range of normal. The driver was sexist, bigoted, unprofessional, and downright scary. I have never, in my hundreds of cab rides, had an experience in a cab as horrible as my experience was two nights ago. Me: Tommy Doyles. 96 Winthrop Street. Harvard Square. Cabbie: Ok. We pull away from the curb and stop at the end of the street. Cabbie: Where you go? Me: (confused) Uh, Tommy Doyles. Winthrop Street. This is the worst cab company in the city of Boston. Seriously, use Redcab or Veterans or ANYONE else. I once called a cab when I was by myself downtown to go to Brighton (several years ago). I waited for half an hour, called several times to find out where they were, to no avail, and finally hailed another cab that was passing by. I got a phone call from the phone operator maybe 15 minutes after that, literally screaming at me for not being at the spot when I had left. Picture a middle aged man, bright red with blood vessels in his forehead brusting because he is screaming in anger, and thats what this guy (probably) looked like. Anyway, my friend recently called them without my knowledge from my cell phone, and they informed her that my number was "blocked" from ever receiving service from them. INSANE! If I could give them zero stars, I would. Both yesterday and today I called at least 1 hour ahead of time, asked them to be at the specified location at a specific time. One cab was supposed to be here at 4:15pm, the other at 5pm. I called at 3:30 to make both reservations, and guess what - I am STILL waiting for the 4:15 cab to show up. Yesterday - same thing. Called at 3.30pm for a 4.30 cab, and we were still waiting for the cab to show up at 5pm. The best part? Another MetroCab driver who drove by us to drop someone else off, came back around, and rather than pull up on our side of the street, he pulls up across a 2 way, 4 lane highway, and we had to cross the street to get to him. The passenger had a bag, and this a-hole didn't get out of the car to help. I work for one of the largest universities in Boston, and I am going to make it a point to have the entire university stop giving these people money. The driver verbally assaulted me (yelling, swearing, & straight up unprovoked mean comments) and we almost crashed going through the Callahan Tunnel because he was reckless driving, swerving and speeding. I shouldn't even give one star to these m!@#$%f!@#$ers... My CFO called me around 2pm and asked if I could call him a cab to the airport leaving at 5:30pm. Called these SOB's and booked the cab. Great! I get a call at 5:25pm, "Your cab is out front." Great! Five minutes early, even! I call my CFO and tell him, "CAHB's AHR HEAHR!" (j/k, I actually said, "Hi, J your taxi has arrived and is out in front of the building.") J tells me to go tell the driver that he'll be there in 5 minutes, just packing up his stuff. So I go out and see the driver double parked-which he didn't need to be since there was an available spot two car lengths up-and tell him that J will be out soon. Less than 30 seconds later two people came out of the building and tried to scoop the cab but I put a stop to it by telling the driver, "NO! That's not who you're here to pick up, I just told you to give it 5 mins!", and they back off. I turn around and went back in the lobby (I had no coat with me and it's fufufreezing) and AS SOON AS I TURN AROUND this muthafather had already loaded these aholes in the cab, banged a U-ie and took off. Here comes J...shit. I tell him what happened and that I'm gonna call them, tell them what happened and get another cab. Call these fools and explained what happened & tell them to get another cab over here ASAP. "Oh yes, yes, we'll send one right over." Go back out to tell him, waited 10 minutes-NO CAB. We wound up using Uber. They never showed, and never called me back to confirm a cab even came. You assholes could have gotten me fired...if J was a horrible boss like that and it does happen but thank God he's not. That's why all your bases are belong to Uber. See, we try to give you business because Uber can be expensive, but whatevs, apparently you don't give a crap. Keep up with the suck ass service. P.S.
