No detail was left undiscussed and it was a very thoughtful assessment with an honest and competitive estimate. He was clearly passionate about the project and he made us feel very comfortable from the beginning to the end of the process, which was a little over a week including the estimate and scheduling three days for prep work, painting and clean up. We met him on the final day of the project and he walked us through our apartment pointing out all the details, it looked great. Overall disappointing. Will is a nice person and good salesman. Final work product was decent. Multiple corners cut including not painting the top of doors that are out of view. Do not be deceived by Will's insistence that he is extremely detail oriented. He does not follow through on half of what you discuss. More importantly, he does not keep his word. He recommended and integrated an unaffiliated flooring company that completely botched their job and literally left bubbles on our floor. After assuring me he was on our side and would help pursue a refund, he went completely dark, just like the flooring company. Will was so understanding and flexible of my timeline and schedule (I wanted to get painting done ASAP and on a specific date in the afternoon). The quote process was also very simple. These people are total rip offs! They charged me $600 for less than 2hrs of work. When I called to discuss the price, the guy, Will, became nasty & belligerent, refusing to budge. I would never use them again!! To update--I never said the work was great. And it ended up being less work than I realized, but you insisted on charging close to $300/hr. That's only a reasonable rate if you're a doctor! And your person broke my internet outlet, even though I edged around it for her, so she never even needed to take it off in the first place. My husband and I recently relocated to a different state. We've been living in our NYC apartment for over 5 years and wanted to get a fresh coat of paint on the entire place before renting it out. I sent a message to MetroCity through Yelp and got a response right away. In the next couple of days we had an appointment scheduled for someone to come and assess the job in order to price it. The person showed up on time, was efficient and clearly knew what they were doing. We got a quote the same evening and the price was way lower than others were offering. I want to highlight the fact that out of 5-6 painters I reached out to, only MetroCity came to do an on-site assessment. I think the quote was very fair and commensurate with the amount of work that had to be done because of this in-person assessment. Once I have agreed to the quote, we have scheduled the time for the job to start. The team came in on time and finished everything in 1.5 days. They also did a thorough clean up afterwards, which was all done by afternoon of day two (this is a separate service they offer for a very reasonable price). After everything was complete, they sent me the pictures of the place, and it was completely ready for our tenant to move in. We were worried about being remote and getting the paint job done well, but this has been the most amazing and seamless experience. Will is very responsive and knoweldgeable. He did the assessment, but also was there when the painters started the work to make sure they knew everything we wanted done. There were a couple of areas that required extra attention (some paint peeled off and wall was damaged by items previously hanging on it). Will was very responsive to trying to accommodate the painting of a bedroom, bathroom & hallway. It was my last week of vacation. He does what he says he will do. He showed up on time to see the project. He is very helpful & was able to get a team in for this two day job last Thursday & Friday. When I felt the bathroom needed another coat, no more than an hour's work, Will sent one of the guys in today. Will got the supplies, I already had the paint & I paid the painter $50 for this. I thought that was fair & when Will found an unexpected softness in the wall, he removed it & re-plastered at no additional cost to me. I think most things were handled well. I would suggest better floor protection & plastic coverings that extended to the bottom of the furniture. They did a good clean-up & tried to put back my bed & the few other pieces to original space. Contract was very clear cut & understandable. I think his price was fair. I think if you are not a perfectionist, & want to improve your environment you will be happy with MetroCity Painting. I am in a very old west side building & as long as major peelings & cracks fixed, I am satisfied. Any other approach would cost much more money & time. This review is long overdue: TLDR version - Will and his associates are the absolute best. They were extremely responsive when I first made an inquiry, exceedingly polite, and just a delight to work with. He took care to walk through every single line item I enumerated, then reverted with an extremely reasonable quote. When I wanted to strike items off the list to fit my budget, he didn't hesitate to work with my figures. When the work took a little longer due to the bad state of the walls left by my previous contractor, Will communicated this to me at every step of the way, and explained (1) why it was in bad shape (2) the work he was going to do to fix it, and (3) the work they were going to do to make sure the finished product was durable and good looking. When there was a slight hiccup due to a minor miscommunication point on my part, Will jumped on it straightaway without charge. I know how looking for contractors in the city can be a painstaking and nerve-wracking process: you never know if you're being stiffed or overcharged. I can say without any reservation that Will's work is first-rate, he's great to work with, his prices are astute, and more than fair (some of the best rates I had gotten to boot), and he'll definitely be back in my building once the residents get wind of how well we worked together. Not only was their estimate nearly $1,000 less than the other estimate I got, but they told me it would take them three days to paint my whole apartment as opposed to the five days that I had been told by the other painter. When I noticed a couple of minor issues after the paint job was finished (a door that would no longer close and a cable that had come unstapled from the wall in a couple of areas), I contacted MetroCity and asked them to come repair it.
