Had a great experience getting my old clunky and basic commuter bike fixed up. While I'm not a huge biker, I recently got "doored" while on my commute and I just wanted to be sure of my bikes alignment and overall condition. Does this shop really need another 5 star review? Great service (I have come in 5 minutes until close and Gordon has still sent me on my way with a fixed bike), good prices, and knowledgeable staff. I had to bring my bike back a couple of times while trying to diagnose an issue, and they didn't charge me for labour and gave me a discount on parts for my trouble. I've never had such a reliable bike shop. I recently moved out of this neighbourhood but I'm still going to make the effort to come here for my tune ups and other fixes. read more

My vintage Supercycle was covered in rust and now it shines like new! Gordon did an amazing job buffing the frame and wheels. He also attached a basket to the front with zip ties and a brace and threw in a quick tune up and test ride - all for only $85. The service was fairly quick. I can't recommend this place enough, the service was extremely friendly and skillful. I brought in my bike for a tune up and it was in a bit of rough shape from sitting around all winter, Gord made some recommendations and went over everything he planned on doing and made sure it was all ok with me, which it was. The prices are really reasonable... I've definitely payed more for less. When I picked it up I was so thrilled! He did such an awesome job making a bunch of adjustments and getting everything in good working order, plus it's now sparkling and rust free. I'm super happy with how it feels to ride. One thing to note is that it's by appointment only, but that really made no difference since I was able to drop it off shortly after calling. I went to MetroCycle after having my previously stolen bike returned to me in really rough shape. It required a full tune-up, as well as several repairs and part replacements. Gordon was extremely knowledgable of what needed to be done and offered his recommendations. He put no pressure on me to have it all done (although I did) and had it back in riding condition the next day. My bike looked beautiful. I wanted to cry, but somehow managed to hold it together. Parkdale is lacking in good, reasonably priced bike repair shops. That is to say, there are some that are cheap, but the repairs are rushed and shoddy and ... well, it's Parkdale so you kind of want to get out of there! But this home bike shop is nice and comfy and the owner, Gord, is friendly and efficient. Can't wait to try his mobile repair service! I was biking home and my tire somehow got jammed against my frame and rendered it unrideable...I was halfway home , no wallet... took out my smartphone and looked up the closest bike shop with the best reviews and found MetroCycle. I was able to ride it slowly downhill from Dundas, went around back to 1266 Queen St. I went down and met Gordon. I was a bit embarrassed I forgot my wallet, and asked beforehand if I could pay him in a day or two. Gordon, my hero - did the job for free and sent me on my way home. Not only did he do it for free, but I was able to bike so much easier the last 20 minutes home. I cannot recommend Gordon and MetroCycle enough. Service was great but can we talk about just being a good human? This often gets overlooked, but please know he is honest, kind and a talented mechanic. A million points and stars for this man!!!!! Definitely recommended. I took my bike to Gord at the beginning of the summer for a tune up. I met him at his house after setting up an appointment time, and we went over the bike and what kind of tune up I needed. I'm by no means a bike expert and am always weirdly paranoid that 'experts' will scoff at my dumb questions and laugh in my face (give or take), so I was relieved at how friendly and patient he was at listening and explaining things. I left my bike with him, picked it up a few days later, and everything was good as new (he had even cleaned my bike up with some steel wool to remove some of the rust forming). I've been riding it for a few months now and it's been great. This is my new bike repair place; if you're in Parkdale, I'm not sure why you'd go anywhere else. read more

My tuneup here was done meticulously and the difference, in riding the bike, is unmistakeable. It feels like a new bike. Gordon is very nice and eager to explain things. His to-the-hour scheduling system is an advantage over other repair shops, where you drop off your bike for days or weeks. Not inexpensive exactly: a tuneup cost $75 here, which from what I've read is slightly above average for Toronto. It may be that Gordon spends more time with your bike than these other places. Not a complaint anyway, just an FYI. read more

I used MetroCycle for the first time this year for my spring tune-up and I'm really happy with the results. Gordon took the time to walk me through his suggested fixes for my bike, and actually explain what he thought should be done. I ride daily for most the year, and usually don't notice much difference after the spring tune-up, but this time it was a much better ride (so his suggestions were spot on). My brake cable broke today and, as luck would have it, MetroCycle was the closest repair place to me. I brought my bike in at the beginning of lunch and by the end of lunch it was ready to be picked up. Not only had the cable been replaced (and improved) but my wonky pedal was fixed, the obnoxious squeak was oiled, and I had a new brake pad. It was like riding a new and improved bike! had a "folding basket" installed. dont know if it was shoddy manufacture or inept installation, but the thing popped open twenty feet out the door, and never stayed closed. i was told i had thirty days - presumably for return/refund, but when the time came four days later to actually get it removed, suddenly there were no refunds. i guess the 30 days was to not be charged 25 dollars for turning the three screws to take the damn thing off. Now im out $25 for "installation" - 3 screws - and $40 for the defective basket. read more

Not being a cycling expert, one of my biggest pet peeves is the ego you get and the condescending attitude a lot of shops have towards novice riders. I experienced none of that with Gordon! I went in needing a tune up, new tires and some magic worked on my front rim; I came out with the best possible version of my bike. Gordon was super knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge and passion. My bike runs amazing, the cost was more than fair and it was all done so quickly and in such a friendly manner. I've used MetrocycleTO twice now- once for a flat repair and once for a full tune-up and front/back tire replacement. I doubt I'll have my bike serviced by anyone else in the future. Gordon is clearly passionate about bikes and one of the goals of his business seem to be to make bike repair accessible and affordable. Gordon is really careful to explain everything about my bike in clear language, even pulling up diagrams on his smart phone to help me understand what needs to be done. Bike culture can be pretty exclusive/intimidating and there have been many times where people in bike shops, particularly men, have made me feel stupid and ignorant and been downright rude to me. Gordon is a talented mechanic and also a skillful business person and communicator. As a small business owner I can tell that Gordon runs a tight ship and I love how he involved me in the process of creating my own invoice/receipt using Square. He's put a lot of obvious care into my bike and both times the service has been above and beyond my expectations. I love how friendly and personable he is, he even adjusted my brakes to suit my small hands- how thoughtful!
