I have been going to Metroderm in Hiram for years fantastic service! It takes a little bit to get in, but it is worth the wait.

I made a new patient appointment last week & was pleasantly surprised to get in the following week. However, after the poor customer service I received over the phone trying to access their patient portal I cancelled the appointment. The old adage about not getting a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression is so true. My 1st call to them resulted in the phone being answered, hearing office conversation (about someone's lunch hour) before being hung up on. My 2nd call resulted in office background noise interference on the line & a frustrated tone of voice to the point of sounding rude in assisting me to access their patient portal. I then cancelled my appointment. I access other patient portals with ease but not so in this case. That along with the customer service experience told me to go elsewhere. I hate this was the case as the reviews for the doctors is what attracted me to seek them out. Maybe you'll have better luck. read more

I've learned that when you get older, having a knowledgeable dermatologist is paramount. The Metroderm practice checks all of our boxes. In the middle of the pandemic, my aged mother came down with shingles. While her primary care physician couldn't and wouldn't squeeze her into his schedule, Dr. Haunson at Metroderm graciously did. Besides being knowledgeable, Dr. H. is kind, personable and really aims to help. "If you have any problems over the weekend, please don't hesitate to call," he said. "I'll get back to you right away." My mother has also used Dr. Alford who has afforded her the same quality care that she received with Dr. Haunson. Five stars from me. You go to MetroDerm for an office visit ( not with the Dr you were scheduled with and wanted to see BTW ) and ask them about your concern you may have with skin cancer. They get you in and rush you out as fast as they can. They give you a prescription for a rash, and tell you they'll talk about that skin cancer your concerned about in a few week at your follow up visit. The dust did t even settle before I was out Looking for my parked car. OK, so it's 2 weeks later at your follow up appointment, and it's the same ol' routine. Get you in and rush you out as fast as they can. No talk whatsoever about the skin cancer concern you had that you came in and wanted to talk about a few weeks ago? Hmm. . I guess skin cancer isn't that big a deal anymore? Who knew. read more

I have been a patient for years. Lately nurse calls have not been returned and trying to get a refill is like pulling teeth. Dr Hauson doesn't take things serious and writes them off as common occurrences. This has led me to find another dermatologist that actually cares and reacts. read more

They told me my insurance covered the cost then billed me 500 and my insurance only covered 300, then they want to call and say that if I don't pay it will go to collections. read more

Things I LOVE about this practice - I really Dr. Alford. She has beautiful skin and hair, so I feel like I'm in good hands. She's warm and friendly - excellent bedside manner - but most importantly, she's skilled and knowledgeable. I've been searching, for a while, for a female dermatologist that has experience with hair and skin issues. Male doctors tend to make people feel vain if they have issues or conditions that the doctor's don't feel are 'extreme.' My lichen simplex chronicus has been a problem for 23 years now. And I've been dealing with persistent hyperpigmentation from even the tiniest scar since I was a child. Dr. Alford doesn't make me feel like I'm being a vain peacock because I want to resolve these issues. I love that they take my insurance FINALLY. I started off as a self-pay. The seem to be enforcing COVID protocols and exam room and waiting room appeared clean - albeit very crowded. The things I don't LOVE about the practice - Parking is very limited. ARRIVE EARLY because you will be driving around for a while looking for a parking spot. There is another office but it's further away from my home. I had my first visit there. They're located on the second floor - about halfway down the hallway (take a right off elevator). Getting a response via the portal can be hit or miss - but reaching a nurse is hard because the practice is extremely busy. The support staff (front desk / checkout) is little lackluster. The young ladies who man reception seem a bit exhausted but it appears that they get a LOT of calls. The young woman who checked me out left me standing at the counter for a very long time while she scheduled an appointment for a caller. I remember the "good old days" when people prioritized the customer standing in front of them. Lol. I didn't deduct a star because maybe they're short-staffed and someone advised her to handle customers this way - but it was a bit off-putting. It seems that she should have put the caller on hold or collected his / her contact info and called them back. I finally left and went to the lady's room then came back. When I got back, she asked my last name - and checked me out. A quick, "sorry about the wait" would have made me feel a bit more appreciated / valued. Wrap-up: I love the doctor - don't necessarily love the location but I'm sticking with them for now! read more

Rushed visit. Didn't feel like Dr. Pearl listened to anything I was saying or cared about the pictures I showed of my skin over the past 2 months. It has been a week since I was seen and my prescription was just called in yesterday after 2 phone calls. Why should I have to call you to remind you to check my labs and call in my prescription? I still can't pick up the medicine because MetroDerm needs to obtain a prior authorization from my insurance company. I now fear it will be well into next week before they respond to my messages. The nurse line says it takes them 3 business days to respond to prescription requests. Meanwhile, I go untreated. This is the worst practice I've ever encountered! read more

Scam artists ...He literally walked into the room and spent 15 minutes in which we told him everything including the name of the medication our previous doctor prescribed-- No tests and no diagnosis-- simply wrote 2 prescriptions for skin cream and charged $500! Had a procedure done same day, which is a rarity for new patients. Doctor Pearl and Alexa were awesome! Great conversations and really good people, who make you feel comfortable and welcome. They truly take pride in helping you. From the first appointment phone call, receptionists and beyond. Will definitely have them as my dermatologist. read more

The practice refused to accept me as a patient unless I signed their financial statement. This dermatology practice has a financial statement that I added too. I added the practice had a contract with my insurance company, any non covered charges had to be discussed with me prior to the service being performed. The practice was contracted with bcbs and could not bill me more than bcbs allowed amount. The ofc manager agreed the practice had to abide by their. Interact with BCBS but I had to agree to be fully responsible financially. read more

First, let me say I hold medical professionals and their offices to a high standard. They are after all, taking care of my children. I also value my time when it comes to wait times. I took my daughter to see Dr. Haunson and we were very impressed. - My appointment has been on time for all three appointments now. (During one appointment they actually made an announcement to the waiting room one of the physicians was running behind in case anyone needed to reschedule) - Friendly staff when you check in and out after the appointment - Dr. Haunsons nurses are thorough and took time to explain prescriptions to us. - Dr. Haunson has a great bed side manner. He is friendly, professional, and hasn't rushed during any of our appointments. Most importantly, I felt confident in his decisions regarding how to treat my daughters condition. read more

****this is a delayed review**** DR. CORRIE ALFORD is the best dermatologist I've been to so far (I was referred by a coworker). She wasn't able to offer any permanent solutions for my skin issues, but it was not for lack of trying. She really loves her job, and it shows! Another plus is that they collected only half of my copay, and billed me for the balance. The only downside is that she is very far away from the metro Atlanta area, but she is DEFINITELY worth the drive! read more

I honestly have to update my review based on my recent and total experience of seeing Dr. Haunson. I initially saw him back in July and during my first visit, I told him that I already saw two other Dermatologists who put me on medication that didn't work for my skin condition. During that visit, he puts me on the same medication and tells me to come back in 3 months for a follow up appointment. As expected, the medication didn't do anything for my skin condition. During my second visit, he tells me I should see an ENT or plastic surgeon to resolve the issue and puts me on the same useless medication for a full year! I honestly left the office feeling very annoyed and irritated. I call today and speak to a clinical nurse to ask why should I continue to taking the medication if it's not going to resolve the issue. She tells me that Dr. Haunson said I don't need to continue taking it if I don't want to. She goes on to say that the medication won't clear up my skin condition. It may prevent future issues. Needless to say, I was very much upset! Why would Dr. Haunson not tell me this during my FIRST visit after I already told him I was already on the medication before??!! I honestly feel like he didn't listen to my concerns at all! This was a waste of my time and money. My opinion of doctors is that they write prescriptions just to get a paycheck. He definitely confirmed my theory of most doctors! Total waste of time. Not to mention I had to wait close to an hour to see him on my second visit. Utterly ridiculous! read more

Dr. Alford and her staff are fantastic. I just had Botox and Juvederm. Yes, it is painful but they were so kind and patient. There is absolutely no recovery needed. When you leave all you need is makeup and you could go anywhere. No pain afterwards and no swelling at all. I highly recommend Dr. Alford. read more

While I like Dr. Alford...she has been able to help me treat my rosacea...this office always runs behind schedule. Arrive at 9:00 for a 9:10 appointment and 30 minutes later, still in the waiting room. The first time, I thought it was a fluke....second one....ok maybe still just a fluke...nope. Dr Alford and Haunsen took very good care of me when I was able to go to see them. However, their office cares more about a past due balance than they care about the health of the patient. I made an appointment last week to see a Dr this morning. I received a text reminder and an email confirming my appointment. However, when I showed up for my appointment this morning, they informed me that if I didn't pay over $600 right then, they wouldn't see me. I was shocked! Why didn't someone call and tell me this sooner? I wasted my time and was late for work for this appointment, not to mention that I am concerned that I have several new areas of skin cancer, like they removed previously. I feel like it is a sad state of affairs when a patients money or lack of is more important than their health. I am now being forced to see another dr that doesn't know my history and hopefully I can get in soon. If I had the money I would pay it, this was an amount that my insurance didn't cover previously and unfortunately haven't had the money to pay. Just sad. read more
