I had surgery to remove a cancer from my shoulder there last summer, and the people there are the best. I am an old Vietnam veteran, and I found them to be very caring. The doctor who did the surgery was outstanding. In fact, I asked Veterans Administration if I could keep going there because I liked it so much. read more

The dermatologist that I worked with did an outstanding job and was completely clear with her communication and I can't thank her enough. Where my problems start is with the billing department. Being someone who does not have insurance, I made sure that I communicated that everything would be paid for out-of-pocket/self-pay. I asked multiple times if the price that I was paying when leaving their office was the full cost and I would not receive any additional cost in the mail in a few weeks. I was told that the cost that I was paying now was the full cost of the appointment and there would be no additional charges. A few weeks later, I received a bill in the mail for $250 dollars and this was not communicated with me. It is highly frustrating not being told full prices and cost of services when you are paying out-of-pocket just for them to then threaten you with collections because you are not paying as fast as they would like you to, but they did not even give you clear communication before the appointment. I wish and hope that their billing department can't do better and have this professional clear communication. read more

From the first time I met with Ray he put me at ease and gave me the confidence that CoolSculpting Elite would be a good fit for me. I was so confident with his confidence, I signed up right away before even meeting with other scheduled consultations. In 2020 I was in tip top shape. Loving my body and my core. By start of 2021 during pandemic moved home with family. I gained 24 pounds. Learned it was not all food consumption, but that I also had fibroids growing. According to my GYN, then Radiologist that did my Uterine Fibroids Embolism in November 2022, there was too many to count. My appointment reminder said I would be charged $50 if I was a no show. This makes sense, their time is valuable. But what about my time? I went to metroderm for years so when I had to choose new insurance I picked a company which said metroderm would be an option for me. This is kind of important as I look like a tired old raisin so probably need regular dermatology appointments. Apparently, between my checking that they would take my insurance and my actual appointment, they stopped taking my insurance. So, yesterday, I showed up for my appointment and was told to go away. Can never get an answer whenever you call any of the MetroDerm offices, the phone just rings and rings and then even disconnects. I was trying to make a follow up appointment and could not get anyone on the phone so I went on line to make appointment at the Alpharetta office to see the Dr. who told me to follow up with her in 2 weeks since she had found a precancer on my face and gave me a prescription for an ointment to apply. I drove 10 miles for the appt and when I arrived for my appointment I was told they didn't have me down for the appointment; after explaining everything to the nice woman at the front desk she told me I was the 2nd person who had said they made an appointment on line and it didn't show his either. I said, then there must be a problem with your on line scheduling and she agreed but said no one could see me that day, could I come in tomorrow and I said no, I'm not driving 10 miles again tomorrow and asked where I lived and said the Sandy Springs office was close to my home and she called and tried to get me in for that day but they couldn't take me either so she tried to made the appointment for me for the next day (which is now today) at 3:15. At 6:45am my phone woke me from a sound sleep and a recording told me they had to reschedule the appointment for today and to press a multi digit number to reschedule. I didn't have my glasses and must have pushed the wrong # and it disconnected me. I am livid and my phone just rang and it was Metro Derm again to reschedule and relayed this same story to the girl who called to reschedule once again and I told her I would no longer be using their practice for the very reasons I just explained. She was rude and told me to have a nice day and hung up. My experience with MetroDerm was most disorganized and unprofessional and I will be moving on to a much smaller practice! read more

They called me almost a whole week after I submitted an appointment request online as a first-timer. That's a long wait. They asked which location I prefer, and I told them I didn't realize they had multiple locations but I was closest to Vinings/Cumberland, which prompted a "Okay let me transfer you" (okay... to where though?? Just not gonna tell me that kinda important detail? What if the call drops?) After a hold, the second person picks up -- presumably at a different office -- and clearly thinks I just called in randomly. When I mention I want to make a first time appointment and I was transferred, she asks THE SAME QUESTION about location. So your team can't talk to each other?? Get this... after answering the exact same way as the first time, somehow I still ended up being placed on hold/transferred yet again... but this time to a phone that just kept ringing and ringing for minutes with no one answering. Felt like I was being pranked by the office staff. I would not want to trust an office this inefficient and doofy in 2023. I'll be going elsewhere. How do you call *ME and then give me difficulty trying to make a simple appointment?? Sheesh. Get some better organization y'all, that's pathetic. read more

I was recommended by a colleague for my daughter's scar treatment. The doctor recommended cream and some patches due to her age and suggested a 2-month return visit. We checked out and paid IN FULL, totaling nearly $400. Their office started calling me over a month later and said that I owed a balance of $20. I told them that I had paid in full, so there was no way that I owed anything. They said they had entered the bill incorrectly, but they would have that corrected since that was their error. Four months later, It has not been corrected, and they have begun harassing me over their mistake. I told them that my daughter was supposed to be seen again in two months, and they have yet to schedule that. I spent $400 in total, and her scar looks exactly the same as it did before our visit. Terrible customer service and treatment plan. I do not recommend them. read more

Had a precancerous spot I needed removed from my face. I came in from work (wearing make up) and Dr Pappa proceeded to be angry at me for coming into the appt with face make up on. During the removal he did not tell me ANYTHING about what was going on or what to expect after. I got to the front desk to check out and they asked me what procedure I had done and I had no idea what to tell them. A few days after the stitch removal appt, I discovered they had LEFT A STITCH IN MY FACE, which I had to remove myself. I also noticed they didn't remove the entire spot so I made another appt for them to remove the rest of it. During the appt they informed me that was done on purpose. So I waisted my time taking off work for this appointment that was totally unnecessary and could've been avoided if dr pappa had simply told me any info about the initial procedure. They did not charge me for that appt because I complained about the lack of patient communication. PA Daniel Lor met with me and apologized on behalf of Dr. Pappa and was very understanding and helpful. Very happy with him but Dr Pappa is the main doctor and from him there is 0 patient communication and every interaction I've had with him was rushed. After all my follow ups are finished with this spot on my face, I will be seeking other dermatologists. Can't speak for the other doctors at this practice but avoid Dr. Pappa. read more

Worst business.... Made an appointment 2 weeks ago and then at 7:30 AM the morning of my scheduled appointment I get a call from the office telling me that the doctor I am suppose to see at 2pm only accepts MEDICARE and they would have to cancel my appointment because I actually have insurance. The appointment scheduler then did not know that the doctor only accepts MEDICARE??? How unprofessional!!! They then reschedule me for an appointment the next day. The morning of the rescheduled appointment come around and I receive an automated call from the office reminding me about my appointment and a message that I will incur a $50 cancellation fee if I cancel or reschedule the appointment 24 hours or less before my appointment. So I ask the nasty practice manager where is my $50 cancellation fee for them cancelling and rescheduling in less than 24 hours?? This lady states we do not compensate patients if we have to cancel or reschedule. I then show up for my appointment and I get stuck with a friggin physician assistant NOT a real doctor. This place is horrible and completely unprofessional, I truly recommend you look elsewhere for your dermatology needs. There are way better dermatology clinics than metroderm, way better. read more

After seeing a) 5 star reviews on Google; b) 4.8 star reviews on zocdoc and c) receiving 3 recommendations in response to my post seeking a dermatologist specializing in ethnic skin and hair (paraphrasing) - I was super excited to meet with Dr. Alford. Her office does not take my insurance (Ambetter) so I asked about the base self-pay / cash price and made my appointment based on that. I did not receive any shots or treatments - but when I went to check out my price was approximately $50 higher than the price I was quoted over the phone. I asked if this was the base price - and the check-out person (once she finally returned from the restroom) was a bit dismissive. I did tell her that I thought the price quoted to me was lower. I was polite and calm, but I made a note to check my calendar once I got back home and I was correct. I visited her at the Johnson Ferry / Buckhead location - just to establish myself as a patient since I would have had to wait months to see her at the Hiram location. This location was about 20 miles from my house. Parking lot was big but spaces were sparse. Also - just a note - there are THREE suites. Be sure to ASK which suite you'll need to go to. I went to Suite 180 was told to go upstairs. Went upstairs, was told to go downstairs. Went back downstairs and was told to 'go around the corner.' Lol. Regarding my actual visit: Little to no wait time. Yay. My nurse, Jasmine (sp?) was fine. Not super extroverted, but that's fine. I'm an introvert - so I don't need a bubbly, extroverted personality - just pointing out for folks who think that a quiet, subdued personality equals cold or rude - it does not. Lol. :-) Dr. Alford was warm, charming and appeared knowledgeable and well-versed in 'ethnic' hair and skin care. She listened to my history and didn't seem to openly blow off my concerns about my hair (since hypothyroidism - complete change in texture, matting, tangling - despite my not using heat, wearing braids), my scalp (lichen simplex chronicus) and my skin (hyperpigmentation from even the smallest, least traumatic scars) . She ordered a compound from Skin Medicinals over 5 days ago - and I have yet to hear from the pharmacy. I didn't ask her if I can just get the compound from my local compounding pharmacy because I did not think it would take more than a day or 2 to hear from them. She prescribed a steroid oil for my scalp and an OTC product that I ordered from Amazon. The steroid oil has a peanut oil base (a first) and I had a mild allergic reaction to that. I discontinued use and reached out to the office via telephone and the ARCHAIC patient portal ... and didn't hear back yet. So - the doctor is great - but the support staff (with regards to check-in / check-out / responding to messages "sent via portal to JF Nurses" / calls) not so much. I'm hoping that once I visit the Hiram location and get myself 'fully established' - things will get better. I'm not sure whether medical offices actually read these reviews - but if I could give one recommendation - I would just say - I think it would be great if they provided a check out sheet (printed at checkout or via email) that shows everything the Dr is recommending and prescribing. Actual meds with application instructions. In my case - since she had a treatment for - with different application methods - for my a) scalp, b) scalp / hair, c) skin - I did NOT take notes on my phone because I thought all that would be contained on the Rx instructions and checkout info. It was not. Lol. SO - I had to call the office and leave a message to ask - am I using X daily - or 'Y' daily? Am I using X all over my scalp or just in the affected area? Or 'Y' all over my scalp or just in the affected area? Someone did call me back - but, if I'm being super honest, the message was vague. So I just decided to use both meds all over my scalp. Lol. Cuz I didn't want to call back and risk getting labeled 'high maintenance.' As it stands right now - I think Dr. Alford is a great doctor - with a good bedside manner - did not make me feel vain or silly for worrying about my hair and skin.  I look forward to working out everything else - and I sincerely hope that she can help me get things 'back in order.' MetroDerm Atlanta: After recently deciding to put more emphasis on my health, I decided to return to Metro Derm. About a decade ago, I was a frequent acne patient of Dr. Amy Kim. She treated my case with respect and compassion as she helped to heal me of my troubling acne, at the time. About 13 years later, I'm returning to see one of her PA's, Syndey for an eye rash and questionable mole. I'm unfortunately without insurance so I informed the office I would be paying out-of-pocket. Upon checking in, which I was 26 minutes early to, I again informed the receptionist I was self-pay and was graciously given price ranges and counseling by a sweet gal named Lyndsey. 5 minutes after my scheduled appointment time I was called back into a patient room. PA Sydney came in shortly after I gave my run- down of concerns to the nurse. The visit was short and concise. I wasn't told anything I didn't already know, but its always good to have a professional opinion when it comes to a health concern. Overall, I had a quick and pleasant visit. The office was clean and kept well stocked with tissues, advertisements for the newest Derm approved products and hand sanitizer around every corner. Overall payment: $204 for an existing patient appointment for a PA to look at a rash and inform me my mole looked non-cancerous. Why must healthcare be so expensive though?! read more

MetroDerm - Sandy Springs - Dermatologists Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

I have been a patient of this practice for several years, but I will no longer be a patient as my patience with them has run out. I am beyond frustrated at their lack of service and lack of the use of common sense. I have no skin issues. I use them to write a prescription strength Tretinoin cream for its anti-aging benefits. Every year in order to renew the prescription I am required to come in for an office visit. It a three hour event out of my work day for that appointment. The provider walks in, spends 30 seconds with me, renews the prescription, walks out and charges me for an office visit. At each office visit the provider has told me, "next time just call us to renew your prescription" . I call the office and explain that to the person on the phone and every time I am told I have to come in to the office despite the fact that each time I am told by the doctor "just call us to renew". read more

I have had excellent treatment over the years at Metroderm. I've been to two dermatologists: Dr Kim and Dr Alford, as well as a fantastic NP: Ann Patrick Meagher. They are thorough and caring. They can spot a problem and they act immediately. I highly recommend this practice. read more

The office wasted my time, provided misinformation about billing, and was unresponsive, unfriendly, and unhelpful. I was quoted an amount for a consultation and was told I could use insurance. The office charged $100 more than the amount quoted for the visit, and it actually cost me more to use insurance than to not use insurance. When I tried to get an explanation or support from the billing department, the representative was combative and unhelpful. Her supervisor didn't call me back despite repeated attempts and messages. When I called the office manager above the supervisor, she was unable to get the supervisor to call me back, either. The office refused to adjust the bill to the consultation fee that had been quoted, claiming it would be illegal. My insurer says that there is no legal requirement in its contract that would prevent the office from adjusting the bill. read more

I have been a patient here for many years. I used to see Dr. Papadopolous, but it's pretty hard to get in with him so I'm happy seeing Lee for my yearly dermo check up. Dr. Papadopolous truly has the best bedside manner of any physician I have ever been to. He is kind and caring and makes you feel like he genuinely cares about YOU, and not just your health. My daughter came in to see him years ago to have a mole removed. She was petrified. Instead of having an assistant give her the numbing shot, he did it himself. He took the extra time to make a little girl feel less afraid. For this, I will always love him. He has removed some precancerous moles from me and I would definitely go to him if I had any skin issues. I have had to wait for a long time when I am here for an appointment but I take that into account knowing that once I am in with him he will take his time with me also. It's sometimes frustrating but always worth the wait. Lee trained under Dr. Papadopolous and is much easier to get into to see. He is friendly and thorough in his examination. I am normally in and out very quickly. I would recommend seeing him. If there's ever an issue that needs further examination, it is forwarded to Dr. Papadopolous. read more

I adore Dr. Santosa! I am turning 32 this year and decided it was time to treat myself to lip fillers and botox, something I've wanted for years! I was so anxious leading up to my appointment and I am so thankful that I was under the care of Dr. Santosa and her nurse Jenny! They kept me so calm throughout the entire experience. I've never had a medical procedure like this done before and I really didn't know what to expect, Dr. Santosa is incredibly thorough in her care. I seriously can not emphasize enough how great she makes you feel prior, during and after your appointment. For anyone wondering what the process is like, this is my exceptional experience! After you check in for your appointment, Dr. Santosa's nurse, Jenny will bring you in to your room and ask you a couple of questions before Dr. Santosa comes in. Once she arrives she will go over what to expect from start to finish, answer any questions you may have and have you sign a consent. After that Jenny will apply alcohol to the areas as well as numbing cream which takes about 20 minutes to take full effect. While you wait for everything to go numb Dr. Santosa will stay in the room and settle any nerves you could possibly have. I, like many others made the terrible mistake of watching lip injection videos prior to my appointment and saw how traumatizing it can be for other people. It was safe to say I was a bundle of nerves going in to this appointment. I CANNOT emphasize this enough, Dr. Santosa and Jenny left me feeling so comfortable and at ease about the entire process! By the time I was injected I felt the tiniest bit of discomfort and then it was done. The entire process took about an hour from start to finish and was nearly painless! Dr. Santosa has magic fingers because it was so quick and so gentle, I left feeling and looking amazing! It is safe to say I will be back for future needs and will be referring ALL my friends and family to her! Dr. Santosa and Jenny have taken such great care of me. They are so professional and kind and I felt so safe in their hands, I just wish I could rate them more stars! read more

Extremely expensive, but the service is the worst. Went to see Nina Singh twice in one day and she refused to see me, claiming she was too busy; she is not even an MD. She seems personable when talking to you but keeps you waiting more than 30 minutes past your appointment and then rushes in and out. So the charges is approximately $400.00 for a wait in the waiting room. It's okay for Metroderm for you to wait over 30 minutes but if you show up 30 minutes late, you will be rescheduled, never mind the 30 minutes one way drive to get there. After years at Metroderm, we've switched to another practice. Why? 1) new tactics seen of physicians wanting follow-up appointments for prior cleared up issues that aren't medically necessary (to generate revenues?), 2) charging at time of service yet unable to provide a receipt (needed for HSA records), 3) inaccurate billing practices/software used -- sends statements that do not reflect or credit payments already made, then needs to send a "ledger" whenever bills are questioned, the reconciliation and payment applications are not tied and they continue to say more is owed than either insurance or patient records show, in an endless loop wasting patient follow-up time to resolve to the correct amount rather than overpaying. Doesn't matter how good the doctors are when the billing process is so outdated and inefficient. They need to invest in better systems/software. read more

I took my daughter to the Lilburn location. Shaeyla was especially wonderful with scheduling the appointment, and really went the extra mile. The entire staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Dr. McClure was so nice, and talked to my daughter through the entire minor procedure, to take her mind off of it. She said it never even hurt. Even though there were many people in the waiting room, the wait time was more than fair, including the procedure. I highly recommend them!! read more
