I stepped out for 20 minutes I come back and the worker had switched my load from high to medium. She felt it was her place to switch it. Telling me I was going to burn my clothes. When I drop my clothes for dry cleaning, the store confirmed twice to me that it is $72. When I pick up my clothes, they suddenly asked for $100. They threatened me that if I don't pay the increased amount, I cannot get my clothes back. Due to this threat, I had to pay $100. See attached receipts at drop off date and at pick up date. They mentioned they made a mistake in the beginning, but even so they should call me first to confirm the price change, instead of making decisions on their own to increase the price. Went there for my first time today 1/25/24 & they were okay at first until I went to use the dryer for my 2 loads of clothes. They told me that I couldn't use "High heat dry" and they turned my machine down to "low settings". They told me the dryer machines would catch fire & that it's $3000 to replace the dryer. I chuckled because what does that have to do with me if you have business insurance??? Also be aware...they're abit pricey. Small washing machines $4 & 25cents for 5 min drying. Place is tight with minimum space as well. Do what you will with this information. read more

Called the number to make sure the hours online are correct and got someone random. Didn't answer with name of the business, didn't know how to answer whether or not they clean down comforters and when I asked if this was the laundromat they said "we're just finishing.." and I asked "finishing what?" And she said "cleaning." So, use at your own risk. I have no idea if they are open. read more

After a long COVID absence, I began to tire of cleaning my own clothes, so I headed back for a return visit. The first time, the "Wash, Dry, Fold" (WDF) service did not put my shirts and trousers on hangers. Worse, when they folded the pants, they did not fold along the crease! So I came back, and specified that I wanted hangers. Guess what? They did not fold along the crease again! The hangers weren't even the standard pants hangers with the paper tubes. If you are going to fold trousers, why on earth would you NOT fold them along the crease! The attendant indicated that the hangers were a "special order" and that if I wanted my pants folded along the crease, I could send them to the dry cleaner for $10 a pop. I guess the definition of WDF has changed so that it no longer includes folding in the most natural way, and hangers are definitely old hat. The current volume at the Laundromat is clearly down -- I would estimate by at least 75 percent. In these tough post-pandemic times, I believe that you have to offer every possible amenity in order to keep your customers, many of whom, like myself, started cleaning our own clothes for ourselves. It is no convenience when the fold on trousers is against the crease - I can and have done that myself many times in this age of the Coronavirus. My verdict: any establishment which consistently folds AGAINST the crease is not an establishment worth visiting, among the many other faults which I have mentioned above! They have a variety of different sized machines, which is great if you have large loads or items like comforters. Bring your own quarters, and lots of them because they don't give change and it's not cheap. Although I live in the neighborhood, I won't take dry cleaning there because they are overpriced. I think this laundromat could be avoided, unless it's your only choice. Positives: The cost is ok (it's Cambridge prices) and the speed/cleanliness of wash is standard. It's next door to a restaurant and not very far from Whole Foods or Trader Joe's if you are out running errands. Negatives: Bring your own quarters because the coin dispensers don't always work. Only a few washers were open and it had many items for wash-and-fold on top of machines. One woman working there will scold you if you swing the washer or dryer doors shut quickly. It happened to me and other customers. In our defense, the doors (esp dryers) swing shut easily with little force. They could be more patient for first time customers. Muscle memory takes time to re-train. Why not just write signs on the machines instead of confrontations? Overall: I'll be more careful and gentle in the future. But I'll also go somewhere else. I've never had a bad experience washing clothes or such micromanagement until this place. Highly recommend Pearl St laundromat. They have credit card machines that remove the entire problem of getting quarters. They are super friendly and have more seating, magazines, and a vending machine. read more

The employees are very nice and feel trustworthy, but two of my ten garments came back with (what looks like) tan paint spattered on them, and most of them smelled of fresh paint fumes. Airing them out on the porch for a few days helped, and spot cleaning the spatter marks worked, but isn't this why you take clothes to be CLEANED in the first place? I called and they denied any sort of painting was taking place, and I want to believe them... but then what happened to my clothes? It's so difficult to find parking in Boston so this laundry mat having a private parking lot really sealed the deal for me. Price wise it's just as much as a few other location around Boston. I have been coming to this laundromat for years, but will not be returning with the new management along with many long-term customers who are disappointed with the new owners and staff. There is a new woman behind the counter who I and friends have witnessed bossing around customers, arguing with Maria (who I have heard has left, which is a tragedy), and being unclear about when last wash is. She has turned people away after 5:30pm, and will lose tons of business as a result. There used to be music or TV on all the time at the laundromat, and the old owner would chat and sing along with the music. It was also impeccably clean. Now it is dirty, silent, and unfriendly. There are always leaves on the floor. People in the neighborhood are talking about how bad this place has gotten since the old owners left. Maria leaving is the last straw, and I will no longer be giving this formerly lovely place my business, as it has become unreliable, disorganized, and unfriendly. read more

I do believe the owners are very argumentative if you post a yelp review of make a complaint in the laundry mat. They do point the blame at you if the machines don't work properly. 25 Cents = 5 minutes for a drier 10$ = for 1 load ( most Matt's charge 2.75 a Load, bigger washers too ) 3.75-4.75$ = per load, in small washer/ medium size pod. The older lady there is super annoying and picked about everything . No closing doors fast, if it slams she will complain. She will complain if you are not back in 30 minutes because it's a small laundry mat . She kept stopping my sister and asking if she's timing her clothes . I relatively new to the Boston area. I am living in Melrose, which is north of downtown Boston, but I am always in town especially on the weekends at the Main Library. I took my laundry with me hoping to find a laundromat that is clean, has solid working machines, a friendly staff person, and not too expensive. After leaving the library, I yelped laundromats and Metropolitan came up with 4 1/2 stars. I drove 10 minutes and came upon this nice little laundromat with its own parking lot. Jackpot! This place used to be great. I am now taking my business elsewhere. I used these guys for my wash, dry, fold for years. After the recent change in ownership some mistakes started happening. New, untrained staff appear just about every week. Items were given back to me uncleaned, rates went up, and the level of service has plummeted. Nail in the coffin came in the form of some lost pants a week ago. The staff rudely tried to blame me, offered no form of compensation, and repeatedly called me a liar. I've given these guys way too much money to be treated this way. Time to move on. read more

As much as I really want to give this place a good review, my experience was not of the best caliber. When I got there, it was about 845 pm and I'd rushed in from work. They kindly took 30 pounds of my laundry for wash, dry and fold services. It was a bit on the expensive side (almost 40 bucks!) but I figure, you know, I don't normally use this sort of service, so why not. He promised me it would be done the next day in the afternoon. Someone then hit me in the parking lot, but that's neither here nor there. I returned the next day to find that, indeed, my laundry was done - and beautifully folded! They did a wonderful job - everything smelled great, looked wonderful, no complaints. Then he said, "oh, we dry cleaned some of your clothes for you because they were too delicate to wash." Okay, that's great, thanks! Which ones did you take? Do you know when they'll be ready? "They should be done now. Let me look..." He had a receipt in his hands that said some of my shirts and a skirt were waiting for me. Except he couldn't find them. Anywhere. The woman in the back had no clue what he was talking about. The guy out front had no clue where they were. Now, I'm not made of money, and only have a few nice pieces of clothing. So when I'm hearing this, I get a little worried. He said he'd call me as soon as he found everything. Two days later, no call. I call back, the lady there has no clue what I'm talking about and has never even heard of me. She says the owner will call me back. He does, says it got sent out and will return in a couple days, at which time he'll call. Two weeks go by, nothing. I call, no return call. Two more calls, nothing. Soon I'll be stopping by to see what's going on ... I'd love to give them five stars and give them more business because they were great for the rest of my laundry, but this is just absurd. read more

Ultimately, this is not only an admission of laziness, but a mirror into my soul reflecting a guppie (gay urban professional) who deep down, just needs her laundry folded and underwear neatly bundled in Ziploc bags to feel like the world is not that bad a place. I've had nothing but great experiences at this very clean and quiet laundry, where the washers and dryers are new, the magazines are up-to-date, and friendly staff members are at the ready with rolls of quarters if the change machine refuses to accept your worn bill. I go there for self-service laundry and for occasional dry cleaning, and they also offer a wash/dry/fold service for (I think) 90 cents a pound. Metropolitan is open 7 days a week, from 8 am to 10 pm (last wash is at 8:30). In addition to magazines, a small library, including cookbooks and varied literature, is available to patrons. TVs are present, but are hardly ever on (thank Bejeezus), and I've never seen this place crowded. Also, the walls are, like, neon orange. read more

This place is just absolutely great. Just great. I went in on Sunday and the place was pretty busy so I just decided to completely outsource my laundry. It was 11am and said he could have it ready at 6pm saying he would stay open until 7pm just incase it's not done. I went in at 530 and everything was folded bagged and hung. Even sweaters weren't put in the dryer and hang-drying. After paying I was planning n making a couple trips to load my car with a freaking boat load of clothes, but the guy beind the counter gave me a hand and helped me with everything to my car. Oh, Hallelujah, we have found a dry cleaners that can fix my screw ups with laundering clothes. I like to think of clothing care labels as "suggestions", but seeing as how I entirely overlooked my latest dress' "suggestion" label, I ended up with a white and black dress with splotches of pink all over (the black dye used in the contrast had bled all over the dress). So...I guess it wasn't such a great idea to throw my color-sensitive cocktail dress in hot water and soap and call it a day. I immediately asked friends and consulted Yelp to find a trustworthy cleaners, and Metropolitan was both #1 in my friends' suggestions and Yelp's, so figured I'd give it a go. At worst, I had a splotchy pinkish dress. At best, I'd have a brand new, crisp white dress. My dress was ready to be picked up in two days, and upon inspection, they missed a few spots, but gladly took it back for a second round of cleaning. A few days later, my dress was like brand new. All for $12 (they didn't charge for the second cleaning). 5 stars for excellent customer service, an incredibly friendly staff, and a great dry cleaning job. Metropolitan Laundromat is the best. If you ever spring for laundry service and find joy in little things, take it here. Your socks will come back bundled in rubber bands and your shirts will be folded so perfectly you want to leave them in the little individual plastic wrappings they come in. Even your precious lady intimates will be portioned off into plastic bags. I'm obsessed. They have super washers too, which means you can stuff a huge load of laundry in and have it done in 13 minutes. What a time saver. The people who work here are so nice. One time, they called my boyfriend to ask him if he lost a shirt because it looked like something he saw us wash there once. Because they send out their dry cleaning I usually take mine somewhere closer because it is fast to get it done on site. But I've sent out dresses from Metropolitan and they came back great. I went here because of the amazing reviews on Yelp, though there are plenty of drop-off laundry services in Brighton where I live. I am so glad I did; the 20 min drive was well worth it for the friendly people, and conscientious work; they *called* me to check to make sure that it was ok to put certain things in the dryer, and let me know about a stain they found. They gave me back my laundry the next day, and they had hung the pants the the shirts they knew would wrinkle. Have yet to find out if they get the wax out of the jeans I sent to get dry-cleaned, but I'm very optimistic! Update: yes, they got the wax out. And I just discovered that my local place I take my wash dry fold to is actually MORE expensive than Metropolitan. For a worse job. Quite simply, the best laundromat in Cambridge, Boston, and possible the Atlantic Seaboard. Even if you don't use laundromats anymore - you should go here and see what you've missed and try to create some sort of false memory of folding a weeks worth of laundry like royalty (if royalty didn't have butlers). We schlepped through mat after mat in New York - and I was always amazed how one place could be the best in one area-but fail in others. Clean counters-fantastic-but don't expect a bathroom! A TV for when your bored-nice-just don't sit down on the chair with the stain. This led me to ask-is it too much to have it all? Would there every be a mat that was clean, had a, tv, pleasant environment and super friendly staff? Sure..but one with free parking and a bathroom cleaner than yours? Impossible! This place is really the only laundromat I've ever liked. It's fairly clean, has free wifi as well as great reading material, and the guy at the counter is often happen to give me change for my 20s (with some bills and however many quarters I need). The machines work, and when they don't they always have a stern warning, so you know before you throw everything in. They also have washing machines of a few different sizes, so I can get away with throwing a few loads into one machine those times when I wait a month to do a wash. Oh MetLaundry, I miss you so... :`( Although I didn't often have the cash to take advantage of the wash-and-fold, MetLaundry definitely set the bar high. As my first laundry service experience, I came to expect the tightly-sealed packages of clothing and organic, scent-free detergent as the norm. Alas, it is not so in other parts of the world, as I have sadly discovered from the sloppily-folded (and somehow smelling strangely still-unclean) laundry I just got back from the place in my new town. Met may seem a bit pricey, but don't take those little packages of clean laundry for granted - it's an excellent service, and should be taken advantage of if you have the opportunity to treat yourself once in a while. My wife always says "whatever you do, do it your best." This could be the motto of Met Laundry. We are visiting Cambridge from Michigan, and we needed to clean some laundry. We saw the reviews of Met on Yelp and thought it would be worth the 20-min walk. We were not disappointed. There are plenty of new washers and dryers, and all appeared to be in new condition. Free wifi is available to pass the time. There are working change machines and a soap vending machine. But, the best aspect of Met Laundry was the attendant. He greeted us cheerfully when we arrived, and led us to machines that would do our laundry in a quick cycle. He helped us get everything done in an efficient and economical way. I really wanted to like this place. I love Cambridgeport and I want to support local businesses. But this place is the worst drycleaner I have ever been to. I picked up my clothes and realized that they smelled worse than when I dropped them off - like a combination of cigarette smoke and body odor. I brought them back and pointed this out, only to have the manager deny any odor and then try to blame me, even though I had had the clothes for a max of 12 hours and had not even taken them out of their plastic. In the end After expressing my displeasure she agreed to take them back, and after another week the clothes came back and I picked them up on Sunday. This is where the story gets really bad. As I said before because of the odor I hadn't taken my clothes out of the plastic bags. I noticed that the order was still there but was not going to go through this again, so I proceeded to take my clothes out of the plastic - only to find that my favorite silk shirt had a brand new quite large ink stain on the front that was not there when I dropped the shirt off - I dropped it off for an oil stain higher up on the front. Update: I got my shirt back with the stains gone. The proprietor is a lovely woman, and I am sure that the things they do in-house (washing and folding) are well done. The shirt stain was removed, which really was a relief. Unfortunately this was still too much hassle, and too much money, for most of my clothes to still smell bad. I can't in good faith recommend the dry cleaning service here. read more

This is one of the better places for wash-and-fold that I've ever used: friendly and courteous staff, attention to detail, and prompt service make this place stand above most. The owner is often working behind the counter when I drop off my laundry and dry cleaning. He's an amiable guy who makes me feel like I'm part of the neighborhood, which is wonderful. The young woman who works there is a bit more soft-spoken but seems very sweet. They both remembered my name after my second visit. The best part about this place in my opinion is the way they do wash-and-fold - unlike any other place I've seen. They take care to wrap each set of smaller items with a rubber band (e.g., groups of socks, undergarments) and everything is neatly bundled into bags. Plus, it always smells REALLY GREAT! I can't tell you how much their attention to detail saves me time and makes picking up my laundry a joy. I will go out of my way to return to this place. Oh, and they do a good job at washing and pressing shirts as well. Haven't done too much dry cleaning there but it seems to be fine - no issues with that. So after several months, Metropolitan is STILL my favorite laundry in Cambridge. I've tried two or three times to go elsewhere (because I'm lazy and pick one of the generic places around the corner from my apartment) and every time, it turns out to be a huge mistake. They still call and text you to update if your laundry is going to be ready. They still walk you out to the car and help you bring stuff in. They still ask you if you want starch, special detergents, etc. They still organize your clothes by type. They still ask me if I want my wife's clothes separated into a separate bag when we drop off both of ours at once. When I dropped off dry-cleaning last week, they went through each item while I was still there, to make sure nothing had any special instructions. The staff are still incredibly friendly. Oh, and as an added bonus, Dimitrios Cuisine (a short-order grill/diner type burger/pizza/philly kind of place) is right next door, shares the same parking lot, and is really quite good. Go out of your way to come to Metropolitan. Seriously, you won't be disappointed. There's no hype and no special treatment here -- every reviewer here on yelp is saying the same thing, because the Metropolitan guys are this amazing to everyone. read more
