Sooo happy I found this place!!! My washer broke and won't be fixed for weeks. I am allergic to fragrance and searched high and low to find a place that could accommodate me. I live in Medford and 2 years ago tried a local place that offered no fragrance, but my clothes reeked of fragrance and I had to soak them in vinegar for a long time. I took a chance on Oxford St. even though it's in Cambridge. I called and told the owner my predicament. He said he has many customers who require no fragrance and has had no complaints. Medford wasn't in their zone but he would put it in their zone so I could place an order. He said he would pick up my bags on his way in the next morning. He came by less than 24 hours later and my laundry was returned 3 hours after that! David is a really nice guy and provides excellent customer service! read more

I can't believe that the place I dealt with is the same one that others have reviewed here. Of course, I've only used their dry cleaning services, so I can't speak to their laundromat or wash/dry/fold services. The only reason I tried Oxford Laundry in the first place was because I purchased a LivingSocial coupon for $40 worth of services. I don't have many clothes that require dry cleaning, but I figured this would be my best chance to get my winter coat, fall jackets, and scarves cleaned before I start freezing my butt off in the lovely New England winter. Add in the fact that they do pick-up/delivery, and there was just no reason not to give them a shot. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a completely online system for creating an account, managing payments, placing orders, and scheduling pickups/deliveries. All the information you could possibly want about their prices and pickup/delivery service is on the website, and they are very responsive to email if you have any questions. It was a breeze to add the $40 credit from my LivingSocial coupon. Perhaps the most remarkable thing was that they went above and beyond to try and get rid of all the old stains on my long (white) winter coat. After one dry cleaning cycle, they delivered all my other garments and asked me if it would be okay if they ran my winter coat through the process again to try and get all the tough stains out. Other dry cleaners I've used charge you for sending it through again, but Oxford Laundry did it for free and delivered it (at my convenience) at no additional charge. My winter coat has never looked better! On top of that, they use an organic, PERC-free cleaning process. Of course, dry cleaners that use this more sustainable and environmentally-friendly method are always more expensive than traditional cleaners. So while other reviews may complain about the prices, they are very reasonable for a green dry cleaner. Overall, my experience with Oxford Laundry was nothing short of excellent and I will definitely return to them in the future for all my dry cleaning needs! read more

Do not use this company!! They will nickle & dime you and in my case lie about the weight of your clothes and overcharge you*! I have never dealt with a more crookish company in all my life. I cannot believe the depths some companies have sunk to, in this economy. I gave them 34lbs of clothes to wash in 3 bags. They charged me for 44lbs of clothes. Unbelievable! They charged me for folding a small blanket, they would have charged me for the detergent too if I hadn't provided my own. The livingsocial coupon is a scam to get you in the door...Save your time and money and use another company, one that actually adheres to ethics. *When I saw the bill online, I called and politely disagreed with the weight (p.s. they will not release your laundry until you have paid the bill). I knew I did not give them 44lbs. Unfortunately; I could not make it to the company in person for them to weigh it, in front of me so I paid the bill and waited (and waited) for it to be delivered. At home, I weighed it twice. 2 different amounts came up 35lbs and 34lbs. They charge $1.29 per lbs. Therefore, they charged me 10lbs OVER how much I gave actually them. The customer service is lacking. I found them to be rude and argumentative. I did not want nor did I request a refund just a fair/honest weight. I do intend to file a complaint with the BBB of MA. What a hot mess! Geez...I mean were talking about a laundry place, right? This place was able to complicate something very simple. So, I had used the whole online platform to have them come pick up my laundry and some dry cleaning. Ya, I know I'm lazy...I hate laundry. They charge up front a fee to pick it up during a scheduled time...otherwise you have to leave it out all day. I wait a couple days and hear nothing. Where the hell is my laundry? I finally reach out to them and they tell me that its been ready but that they won't email me an invoice till I schedule another delivery date/time with another fee. Thanks for the heads up! I schedule it and get no invoice. The morning of the delivery they send me an invoice and then do not delivery my order because within that 1.5hr from the invoice to delivery time..I did not get to pay the order...as in I did not see the invoice cause I was at work. I call them and complain and I get a..'Well this weekend we have been swamped with all the university kids coming back'. Save the drama for your momma...I don't want excuses, but just my clothes back. Avoid at all costs. read more

It costs about $5 to wash a load of laundry here. I'm not sure what the prices are like for drop off service. The woman who runs the place is really friendly and helpful. I asked her some advice about washing my clothes, and she was really great. I thought the price was a little high, but it might just be my lack of experience in laundromats. One of the nicest things about this place is that they have a book exchange and chairs to sit in while you wait. It's also right next to a cafe, which helps pass the time. They seem to have a weird change machine though, you can't use newer bills in it. So if you come at night when the attendant isn't working there to hand out quarters, bring lots of ones, or the older fives if you can find them. read more

I love Oxford Laundry. It is small and locally owned, right next store to the delicious Oxford Spa and is the laundromat from the movie Love Story. They offer wash and fold service as well as dry cleaning (which my boyfriend was floored at how inexpensive it was to dry clean a suit jacket there). It may not be the most modern of glamorous place to do your own laundry but I really love it. You can browse through there selection of used books and I have found some really great books that I have walked away with for $1. The place has charm, history, laundry detergent and those fun wheely carts to transport your wet clothes to the dryer. That is all this girl needs in a coin-op. read more

I come here to do my laundry - unlike most of the negative reviewers, I do it myself. The machines are usually available, they're old but they work fine, and they're cheaper than most. It's a quaint, quiet neighborhood laundromat. They're open late, and open Sundays, which makes them worth the trip. I like the bookshelves and the rattan chairs, a nice relaxing touch. One time I accidentally left a load of laundry in the machine; I called the next day, they found it and dried it for me, and I picked it up. Only drawbacks: on Sundays there's no one at the counter so you're on your own. The change machine only takes older bills (no colors) so load up on quarters beforehand. Don't bother to use these guys, unless you want a huge bill. I recently purchased a Groupon for $30 for $60 worth of laundry service which I thought seemed like a great deal. I submitted my order online to schedule a unattended pick from the website. Though the day they were supposed to come I realized that I need a bag of items with line-dry or dry cleaning. I tried to edit my order online to let them know of this. I ended up marking the bag with "dry cleaning / special care-line dry" so they didn't wash and dry it. When I realized this wasn't possible I tried to call them 4 times at various time during the day prior too pick up with no answer. The day after the pickup, I received a call from them saying that since I had some items that needed dry cleaning, they would not be returning the next day but would take another 4 days. When I told them I was trying to contact them and I didn't want all the items dry cleaned they said it was too late and all of items were sent off to get dry cleaned and it couldn't be changed. When I asked how much I was told that they didn't know. Several hours later I found out the bill was $250! WTF!? The staff wasn't sympathetic and informed me they might try to change their website. My suggestion to those considering it is it isn't worth the hassle. read more

Oxford Laundry is a family-owned business. I started using them recently when the dryer in our apartment broke down, and I use their wash-and-fold service ($1.25/lb) and pay for pick-up and delivery ($5 each way). Since the minimum order by weight is $29 for pick-up service, once you add the pick-up and delivery it's $40 per order. I do this twice a month so it's $80/month. Not cheap, but I'm happy to support a local business. Mr. and Mrs. Wang clearly work hard to support themselves and I'm happy to support them. My laundry comes back folded snugly and sorted and I'm very happy with the service! Although they do not accept credit cards at the store, if you book your pick-up/delivery online you can pay for it by credit card on the web site. read more

I have been using Oxford Laundry's pick-up/delivery service for about 6 months now and I couldn't be happier. I'm not 100% sure how they compare to other similar services with regard to price. But I do remember investigating a couple of other places when I was deciding to use the service instead of doing my own laundry and they were a few cents cheaper than the others. Oxford Laundry has the best customer service, hands down. Since I've been using them, there have been a couple of minor issues. 1) If they're not there when I call (which has happened a couple of times), they always call me back, even if I don't leave a message. 2) Last time, they forgot to send back a dress of mine and they sent someone out that day to bring it to my house. 3) They require that you pay your bill by 10am the day of delivery or your delivery gets bumped to the next day. I was swamped at work and didn't get to call until 10:30. The person I spoke with on the phone was very understanding and let me pay my bill then and didn't move my delivery. Another great thing about Oxford is their website. It's not fancy, but it's really user friendly and you can complete your entire order online and pay for your order all online. If you decide to send your laundry out (which is a fairly pricey service wherever you go, but totally worth it), I highly recommend Oxford! read more

My experience was great. I read some of these other reviews and I don't see the problem. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because it is expensive. But I knew what I would be paying and consented to it. Quality: The clothes were nicely folded, look and smell great. It's what I wanted. Friendly: They were friendly on the phone (though they do not always answer the phone "Oxford Laundry" so i was confused at first if I had the right number.) The driver was nice and courteous. They maintained really great email communication. Timely: The turn-around time was quick. They were ready to drop off less than 24 hrs later, I actually had to delay the drop off cuz I wasn't ready to receive. ha. The driver came on time and dropped off pretty much exactly when he said he would. They answered all my questions via email almost immediately after I asked. Accurate: I weighed the clothes on my bathroom scale prior to sending off. I saw roughly 40lbs, and was charged for 40lbs. hey hey. They did not charge me for any service that was not performed. They disclosed all the charges prior to the order so I knew what I would be paying, and that's what I paid. read more

I didn't think it was legal for a dry cleaner to charge double to launder a woman's shirt than it does to launder a man's shirt but Oxford Cleaners does. Even when I asked for my shirts to be laundered as if they were men's shirts (something I've had done at many dry cleaners), I was refused. Thankfully the experience caused me to go elsewhere and also realize that Oxford Cleaner's is 30% to 50% over priced compared to the cleaners on Mass Ave. Even though I live less than a block away from Oxford Cleaner's I make a point to go elsewhere. (it wouldn't let me post without giving at least one star) They completely ruined one of my boyfriend's shirts and when I asked about it they told me to contact the manufacturer of the shirt. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I went here because it is close to my apartment and I saw the Living Social coupon for it. I brought 4 items there to be tailored, 1 shirt to be taken in, 2 pairs of shorts to be taken in at the legs, and 1 shirt with a rip in it. To start, I called ahead to ask if an appt was necessary. The man kindly said no, just come any time during business hours, so I showed up during business hours to find that the tailor would not be in until later and the man asked me to come back later. I told him that I couldn't, so he called his wife and asked her to come in as quick as she could. After waiting about 15 minutes, his wife showed up, looked at my clothes and just said "how much?" I assumed she meant how much do I need them tailored, so I said well, don't I try them on? Isn't that usually how this works? and she said "oh, yea, okay, go back here, I'll stand in the doorway so no one comes back there", as she pointed to the very open room behind the sales counter. Seriously? what tailor doesn't have a dressing room. At this point, I should have just walked away, but I ignored my instincts. She measured my clothes and told me she could repair the rip easily. I came back a few days later to pick them up and found 1 shirt more or less wearable, 2 pairs of shorts that looked like I had asked for parachute shorts (tighter fitting around the bottom, and quite baggy in the crotch), and a shirt with what looked like Frankenstein's scar across the front, where the rip used to be. The work was poor, and looked like something a child could have done. Since I didn't try the pants on, I didn't find out how foolish they looked until I got home, but when I told the woman that the "fixed" rip in my shirt was not a sufficient solution (she used only black thread across a black and white fabric, in addition to it being poorly done stitching), she immediately became irate, screaming at me "How dare you come into my shop and tell me I can't do my job! I have worked here for 25 years!" It became clear quickly that there was no calming this woman down, so I paid her for her shabby job, just to get out of there and went home to find out I have 2 new pairs of parachute shorts. On the bright side, now I can host an 80's party and I don't even have to go to goodwill. read more
