This Met Market is in West Seattle, not overly far from Alki Beach itself. If you've been to the likes of PCC or Whole Foods, this market resembles them in both appearance and feel. It's a little high-end with all the bright lights and neatly placed grocery items but looks smaller from the inside. To be honest, I only came here to try The Cookie, which was something my friend recommended for me for the size and taste of their large cookies. We decided to quickly drop by here specifically for that, and I grabbed myself a chocolate chip cookie with nuts. Server behind the counter was very friendly and helpful, especially when I asked for another bag to keep the warm cookie fresh. For this cookie, you gotta split it between two days, or among more than that if you're health-conscious. There's so much sugary taste yet you never really get tired of eating it. The chocolate chips and the nuts complemented each other while also taking away some of the taste that the excess sugar in the cookie otherwise has. Met Market is one-stop shopping - you can buy high quality ingredients and excellent, fresh produce right alongside coke zero. Met Market has top scale cheese, meat and prepared foods sections. They hire experienced and discerning staff who are happy to either help you pick something out or get you what you want quickly. The place is always clean and easy to navigate. Wow! I love the deli selections from Metropolitan market! I have tried their sandwiches, salads, and a few items from the seafood department! The sandwiches are delicious and full of flavor! I am beyond disappointed with my experience ordering from Metropolitan Market. My husband and I paid in full, in advance for 50 cookies for my baby shower on March 28- an order totaling well over $200. We placed this order two weeks ahead of time and were explicitly told it would be ready for pickup at 9:00 AM the morning of my event. To make matters worse, my husband went in two days before to confirm everything. He was reassured, in person, that the order was placed and would be ready as promised. Yet when he arrived just after 9:00 AM on the day of pickup, we were told the order had been lost. Not delayed- lost. The cookies hadn't even been baked. The only solution offered was 23 cookies they happened to have on hand and a request that we wait at least 30 minutes for the rest- which was completely unreasonable given I needed to be at my baby shower at 9:30. Let me be very clear: this was a fully prepaid order for a time-sensitive, special event, and despite confirming it twice, Metropolitan Market failed to deliver in the most basic way. This wasn't a minor inconvenience- it was a complete breakdown in service, planning, and accountability. When a business takes full payment upfront and then doesn't even prepare the order, it shows a serious lack of organization and respect for their customers' time and important life events. Experiences like this are exactly why customers lose trust and take their business elsewhere. I will not be relying on Metropolitan Market again for anything important. read more

I just have to give a huge shout-out to all the amazing ladies at the West Seattle Metropolitan Market! Recently, I placed a grocery order online for the very first time. Not knowing exactly how the pickup process worked, I walked into the store thinking I needed to grab it inside. That's when I met Paula. an absolute gem who went above and beyond to help me. She circled the entire store trying to find my order, and after a lot of effort and kindness, we realized the groceries were actually waiting for pickup outside in the parking lot. Wait, there's more! Paula followed up with me the next day just to make sure I received everything I had ordered. She even worked with her team to double-check that nothing was missing. That level of care and personal attention absolutely blew me away. I have never had such an amazing experience at a grocery store. It's clear that these ladies truly care about the people they serve. Workers all seem to be woke, but some are friendly. Only positive about this place is their freshly baked cookies. Other than those the cookies, do your grocery shopping elsewhere. If you've never been in a Metropolitan Market before, it's a higher end ($$$$) grocery store that really knows how to create awesome heat & eat foods and can save you from having to cook for yourself for a long period of time. Definitely fantastic for a quick lunch if you're looking to have a little picnic or if you work in the area. I find myself in a good amount of trouble in the pre-made section and it's the main reason I like to come here. They also serve as a regular grocery store with a very nice selection of premium products and you're likely to find those hard-to-find or new-to-you items that are more expensive, but you know you want to! read more

I never thought I'd be obsessed with a grocery store, but here I am...obsessed! It's definitely pricey, but it's dang near perfect. The meat and seafood selection is so fresh and the produce...I don't understand how literally all the produce is perfect, but it's perfect! I'm also someone that hates cutting fruit so I tend to buy pre-cut and then feel disappointed bc the precut fruit is typically not as good as selecting the best fruit and cutting yourself...except for at met market; their precut fruit always hits! Also think they have the best hot bar of any grocery store in the area and the poke bar? Amazing! The flower selection is also beautiful! And The Cookie?! Do yourself a favor and try their in house cookie if you haven't yet...it's amazing, great bakery selection overall too. Lastly, I think each met market offers something slightly different. Their food was good for the first few times which was a few months ago. It really went downhill for the last few times. The poke was over salty and there were not enough food coming out. One night there was no hot food, and they said they were short of staff. Sometimes they have chefs making stir fry, sometimes they don't... too inconsistent. I prefer PCC. Metropolitan Market is offering a product they call "Yorkshire Pudding". It is not Yorkshire Pudding in any sense of that name. It is, if anything, a popover. The defining characteristic of Yorkshire Pudding is that beef drippings are baked into the product. No beef drippings were evident in the YP I bought; not by smell, taste, or appearance. Amazing!!!! Just amazing. Not all metropolitan markets are created equal. Really, they are all different. Most have that overpriced items, meats, wine, organic produce. But this one might be the best. Mainly because of how busy/ big/ bustling their hot food bar is! Pizza bar???! Yes!! Prime rib bar? Yes! Sandwiches, salads, pasta! French fries station??! Yes. It's like a mini Amsterdam replica too. With a cone and curry sauce option. And pizzas! Flat squares like how us Italians do. Or Italian delis! Feels so home. And it's a maze here. Cheese section is huge. Also their salami/ prosciutto counter! The nuts! The fruits. Just so many choices. I even bought a $10 -$15 marshmallow.. do I need them?? No. But they were pretty!! Saturday's they have 2 slices of pizza for $7. It's pretty good. And Sundays which I'll never make it day: since it's a 40 minutes drive each way to get here: they have half off pizza pan! Half a pan for $15.99 which is 10 slices. I'll never make it. Nor do I need 10 slices. But it sounds good. Bonus: it's across the street from Baci's new grooming spot. Now I get to stroll here for a good hour or two while he gets groom for 4 hours. Not bad at all. How else would I have found out about fancy marshmallow or their expansive salami bar! This market is nice. The employees are very friendly. We got a cake here from the counter and I wouldn't recommend it. We got a white cake with raspberry filling and buttercream icing. The cake was very dense and was close to tasting like cornbread. The icing had no flavor. We had 6 of us that ate the cake and rated it a 6 and one person said the icing was a 5 or less. One of the more expensive grocery chains in the area, but holy crap their cookies are good. Called The Cookie, at first I thought it was a bit gimmicky and reminded me of a rip-off of those thick, gigantic Levain cookies in NYC. However, I have to say I think I secretly am motivated to visit because I know I can grab one of these, put them in the freezer, and enjoy them cold like I prefer. The chunks are rich, dark, smooth and creamy chocolate and the walnuts add the perfect creaminess, texture, and volume to these hefty cookies. I like to eat them out of the fridge or freezer, otherwise these are borderline too sweet. But cold - man, it made me realize why people like eating cookie dough so much (even though I still can't). There's a buttery, raw quality to the dough that is perfect against the excellent ratio of high quality chocolate chunks and walnuts embedded throughout. Apart from the cookie, I usually just visit if I'm in need of a fancy cheese platter and their Salumi meats, or some other specialties. Their coupons are pretty great too if you get those in the mail. The West Seattle location's parking lot features comically compact parking spaces, which is a bit surprising given the otherwise somewhat high-end experience inside. read more

Our family has been shopping at this location for a long time and we've seen some concerning changes over the past couple of years. We've always returned because of the variety of the products there (even when so many of the speciality foods don't really live up to the prices). It seems that so many of the friendly employees are no longer there and the experience has been made more impersonal with the addition of new self check outs. Frequently empty shelves and the irregularly of being able to get weekly staples suggests that the "temporary" conditions of the pandemic have become business as usual. Our greatest concern are has been with quality and freshness. We've seen huge flies buzzing around inside the meat case and none of the employees seem to care. We've too frequently bought shrimp only to get home and find the bag stinking of ammonia. On a recent trip it was impossible to purchase raspberries as they were all riddled with black mold. On that same trip we got a container of ricotta cheese and when we opened it at home a few days later we found the plastic inner seal open and an orange tinge to the container. Completely spoiled. And a week later, the first thing I encountered when I walked into the store was strawberries with - not just a little mold - but multiples packages with berries in an advanced state of decomposition. Clouds of fruit flies chased us away from the produce section without being able to fulfill more than a couple of things from our shopping list. On that same trip we got saw a package of lunchmeat ham that was discolored and clearly spoiled. This store is sending a strong message that the people who work there just don't care. The thing is, it makes it really hard for a customer to go in there and to spend hundreds of dollars a week on groceries, if one can't count on getting fresh, quality goods. To add insult to injury, direct feedback to their corporate office doesn't even merit the courtesy of a reply. So I guess the employees don't care because corporate doesn't either. read more

There appeared to be other counters where one can order cooked food as well. Since it was close to dinner, wife and I decided to get a simple meal to go and not have to search for a restaurant. I opted for their prime rib plate and was asked 6 or 8 ounces. I responded with 8 without hesitation. Plate comes with au jus, horseradish, and 2 sides. I chose scalloped potatoes and roasted red potatoes as sides. I couldn't finish the plate and had steak and potatoes for breakfast the next day. A buddy of mine said Charcuterie is just fancy adult Lunchables. That's what I'm shooting for. Fancy Adult Lunchables. I stood at the cheese display case wondering where to begin. An employee noticed my dilemma. She set me up with Spencer. He understood how important it was for me to try different types of cheese before making a purchase. He also gave suggestions on what to pair each cheese with such as nuts, fruit, veggies, bread and meat. I happily walked away with 5 different cheeses to put on my board. It's really nice to have subject matter experts (cheesemongers) who are there to help. Side note: Rachel helped me with some floral arrangements for an event this past spring. We had a 1:1 meeting in the cafe to discuss all the details.
