I don't understand why some of these urban grocer locations have a maze of entryways, staircases, sliding doors, and elevators. Moving on. This is a nice co-op grocery in West Seattle near Alki (I don't know the area that well). There is outside parking and a parking garage. It was crowded, yet I get a parking spot quickly. Nice layout. I just walked along the route and found everything I needed without backtracking. In addition to food, they have a large store with organic type soaps and socks and whatnot. Also a large pharmaceutical selection (non-prescription). Staff was very friendly - noticeably so. PCC is a bit out of my budget for regular shopping yet I enjoy patronizing them on occasion due to their business practices and their interesting and appetizing selections. read more

I was in the area and was happy to see that there was a PCC right down the street! I shop at other locations frequently. I found this one to mostly be on par with the others. Large, clean location with easy parking access. The produce selection when I went was fairly "meh," and seemed like a smaller selection than other stores, but I was able to find everything else that I wanted. I didn't talk to the employees, but the vibe was off. I felt like I was an inconvenience in their way even though I was nowhere near their personal space bubble. read more

Not a member but I love to re-stock all my spice containers here. Everything is clean, well-stocked, and where else can you get a jar's worth of dried dill for $.40??? This was my go-to for Olbas pastilles every time I had a cough. Unfortunately they only had the lozenges today. The pastilles instantly stop the cough and you can fall asleep with one in your mouth because they dissolve in to a very soft bit. Instead of my normal Chicken Caesar I opted for the salad bar and al this was exactly 1 lb. So glad that I grabbed two containers of the ranch - that stuff was amazing and seemed like it was made in-house. No Hidden Valley here! It's very industrial feeling and the parking garage is a mess, tricky getting in/out due to line of site. Great service! Clean store! And totally welcoming for everyone. This is definitely a neighborhood store, yet, the staff welcomes everyone. The local fruits and produce are well stocked. The visual views of what is available is very appealing. This is a smaller store than other locations. Upon arrival, you gave some parking options. There y it s a private i oh taking lot for compact cars. And, there us a parking garage available. The parking time frame is 90 minutes. We love this store! What a terrific store! It was super-clean and had a great selection of foods. We stopped here before snowshoeing and got items from the grab and go case. I had a Caprese Sandwich- at $8.99 it was on the pricier side, but it turns out, I could make 2 meals out of it. There was also some great juice selections and chip selections that made our portable lunch mission really easy. As I strolled through different parts of the store, I was really impressed with the selections on the hot/ cold bars and the assortment of brands. It's like they carefully curate the best and that made shopping here really fun. The store overall was very clean and organized. We used the self checkout stand at the end of our trip and made it through the check out process quickly. The prices here are definitely steep, but based on the quality it's worth it. read more

I used to be fine with this store but in the past year or so I have learned that they have not interest in hearing what customers want or need. I encountered the assistant manager and the health and beauty department will not follow up after saying they will. I was happy frequenting all the stores in west Seattle but somehow I discovered that PCC does not take feedback well or at all, really. That is fine, other stores around her do. (I've reviewed this PCC before, but since it's total (as in demo and rebirth), it's worth a new visit. Great place. But did you know that like Superman masquerading as Clark Kent, this joint is a top-tier pizzeria masquerading as a supermarket? THE ROSES: Ample parking. Staff is utterly delightful. It is clear PCC takes good care of their people, 'coz they seem to really enjoy their jobs. Top quality meats, seafood, and produce. Very nice deli and hot food counters for those who need a quick bite. But the real treasure is the pizza station. I would stand this team against the best pizza joints in Seattle. Delightful thin crust pizzas with just the right amount of char on the bottom, topped with the best quality toppings. Great prices too: pizzas come in only one size (comparable to an extra-large at other places), and cost $17. This is a good value by any standard, and a downright bargain when you consider the quality! THE THORNS: The underground parking garage can be tricky for ingress/egress when you have people trying to get in and out at the same time; very poor design. Prices are a bit on the high side, and selection is not as great as a Fred Meyer or Safeway, because they insist on only selling products that meet their standards for purity/Social Justice/etc. SO WHY FIVE STARS? YOU'RE NOT GETTING SOFT, ARE YOU? Maybe I am, gentle reader. I was going to give them four stars, but it's all about that pizza, babycakes! Produce is beautiful and fresh, deli section offers are plentiful, pizza is great and the salad bar is THE BOMB! I come here about 4 to 5 times a week. Well the time has come to say goodbye to PCC markets! After being a member for over twenty years, I can no longer tolerate the inconsistency of the deli! As it gets worse and worse with every visit. It's obvious that they are no longer using organic vegetables in their recipes and the execution of said products in the case are 100% not cooked by professionals. West Seattle PCC is pretty good but my husband and my complaint is they don't stock enough vegan sandwiches and will not make any if the three they put out are gone. We have had the young sandwich maker come over and offer to make us some if he is working and suggests we talk to the manager if no one else will make us some. On the flip side Burien PCC, hands down, each time we go in, has many more vegan and vegetarian sandwiches and options. We would rather stay in West Seattle but not real pleased with this store because of the above reason. read more

This is a cute PCC location in the Admiral District of West Seattle. Stopped by here recently to grab a cup of coffee while in the area. This location is comparable to other ones that I have visited. The Fremont location is my favorite. The prices at PCC are generally a little more pricey than Whole Foods. Even so, there always something at PCC worth picking up. In this case, I happen to find a new like for their prepared foods section. They have some nice in-house baked offerings that complement the ones from local vendors. The coffee used at PCC is Tony's Coffee which is from Bellingham. Tried a single shot 12 oz. latte which was under $3. The coffee is full bodied and comparable to the best of the best like Caffe Vita. The parking lot at PCC is huge so there is no issue with finding a space. That might be the biggest sell about this location. Some areas in West Seattle can be a pain to find parking. If I was looking for a coffee fix in this part of town, I know now that PCC is a pretty good option. Being that it is a grocery, it makes it even easier to find a snack to accompany my drink! read more

Grocery stores are pretty much all the same, with the exception of PCC Natural Markets. You won't find your Doritos, Coke, Pepsi or all those terrifically tasty but terrible nutritional products at PCC. What you will find is organic, vegan, wheatless, etc selections. The selections are good and the staff is pretty helpful. Eating more healthy isn't cheap, so be prepared to spend more for organics. The other great thing that you'll find at PCC is a great selection of prepared food that offers a healthy alternative to fast food. Plenty of salads, soups, pizzas and more. read more

LAME!!! What an utter failure! Where do I even start? Produce; not a very big selection, perhaps an afterthought in our new dungeon design that could just as easily be located in Phoenix, Irvine, or Ft. Collins. Isn't this the Puget Consumer Cooperative? There is nothing that represents location, history, agriculture, organic or even community here. Nothing. This place is narrow, very unfriendly and cold. Yes they have a selection of organic food, but so does every other store at this point, so what makes one want to shop here if the coop and health emphasis is dead? Nothing! After waiting years for my favorite food store in West Seattle to finally open, I probably won't ever shop here again. Prices and selection are better elsewhere, no vibe and no soul! So sad. I love PCC and rarely shop anywhere else. I have talked to the managers of the meat department to find out about the quality of the meats and I feel confident that they are a clean ans humanely cared for as possible. I do wish that the Deli would mix it up with Great new recipies. Alot of my favorites were phased out and I don't care for many of the replacements. Usually any new recipe's are not very good at all, in my opinion. Otherwise I love the selection of clean healthy products. read more

Walked up to the meat counter two weeks before Thanksgiving and asked if I could special order a FRESH turkey. They said of course and had me fill out the required info. Cut to two weeks later - two days before Thanksgiving - I walk in to pick up my FRESH turkey and they hand me a FROZEN turkey! Had I wanted a FROZEN turkey I could have gotten it anywhere and certainly would not have needed to put in a special order two weeks in advance!! My plans are now ruined because these people can't be bothered to train their meat department employees in the most basic of terminology that anyone working in a meat department should know. The lemon capellini pasta with shaved nuts is exquisite, and pairing it with one or more of their house meats like the parmesan encrusted chicken compliments well. The quesadillas are HUUUGE LIKE MY HANDS!! Delicious meat options in the taqueria section. And don't forget the PCC chocolate chip cookie. This is a nice neighborhood go-to for groceries. On my agenda? Chai and something from Grace Harbor Farms. There was the good selection of the chai: Zhena's (concentrate), Morning Glory (large jar, maybe it was Travelers?) and a few other tea brands. I decided to try the GHF Honey [cream top] Yogurt. All great stuff. Good parking street-side and in the lot--both sides of the alley. The staff was friendly. There was one young girl I inquired with regarding the chai and I may have caught her in the middle of haphazardly dusting and left the trash top dusty. The remodel made the place look spiffy, the outdoor sitting area looks nice, but so far way too cold to hang out at. The layout of the aisles is kind of odd and confusing and even though they've expanded, the shelves still don't have a lot of choice; maybe one or two brands of anything. The Deli and butcher seem to have gotten the most attention, but the butcher shop is still very limited. The Deli does have some nice heat and eat items like the Quiche which is very good. read more

PROS: -Good bulk -Produce is generally great comparative to other stores -Staff -Location -Union CONS: -Ever-increasing "grab and go" atmosphere, including a greenwashed "bottled water" policy -Permanently closed the espresso bar :-( -Slipping seasonal/local produce standards. New Zealand apples in stock when WA apples are at their peak? Extended window for stone fruit lacking the taste? These are not aligned with their stated values when I joined. -Moving toward a conventional approach (see produce, convenience items) -Overprices the exact same items other stores sell. -Meat and Seafood counter closes at 7 or 8. In general, the layout is not great and the stairs required to enter from the parking lot is a crime against accessibility and design. If you don't want to use the elevator to go 1/4 floor, you can shuttle your cart out a single, wide side door that zig zags to the sidewalk. Wild. read more

When I can't make it to Trader Joes I will make a stop at PCC in my neighborhood. 1) I love the objective of "natural markets". I highly suggest people to change their diets to Organic/natural to preserve their health in the long run. 2) Fresh tasting food. I love getting a cup of soup at the PCC market. Especially on rainy days in Seattle the chicken noodle soup is the hit. And their bakery... snickerdoodle cooky and organic donuts, the best for a sweet treat. 3) Dislike the high prices compared to Trader Joe's affordable price tags. Though trader joe doesn't have a fresh deli but PCC does!! I only go to PCC for necessary items that I do not think Trader Joe's can provide, like fresh morning made deli items (bagels, soups, cookies, donuts, etc.) One day my diet will change from 80% organic to 99%. Went here for the first time ever to a PCC to grab a couple staples late at night. I ended up grabbing more than I had come for, and I amused the cashier and other patrons in line since my arms were full vs. having a cart. Pricey - more than Whole Foods - everything I saw in my short visit was organic, healthy and high quality. I didn't have the time to peruse the produce, but I saw it, and I was massively impressed by how happy it looked. I was impressed by how clean the store is, the set up and the good vibes. First and Last Visit We used to shop here before the remodel. It was small and crowded, but had everything we wanted. Then we got used to the Burien store - loved it because of one stop for both PCC and Trader Joe's. Stopped by today for the first time to get one item I was out of - could not find it. Couldn't stand to stay in the store because of the very loud announcements! The parking lot was down-right scary. Backed up onto the street, while waiting for one large SUV was waiting for another to leave to take his space, I had my signal on to get the next available tiny slot where someone was backing out. Meanwhile, someone coming out of the garage (must have been full), tried to turn in front of me, although I'd been signaling my intention for quite a while. Yikes. Never again. Just went in for breakfast. The "hot" bar food was embarrassingly bad. Everything was dried out and cold. Scrambled eggs were like bullets and all the dishes were burnt to the bottom of the pan. Cheese and egg biscuit from the cafe was like a greasy rock. If this is the new face of the cooperative, I suggest the members take a hard look at its food service section. Love the new PPC! I was so sad when they closed for renovations, but the new place is bigger, better and more fun to shop in! The first time back I spent a leisurely afternoon getting to know the new layout and where everything is, then went back through to get my shopping done. With Whole Foods and Met Market in the area, PCC is superior in their hot/cold bar and their prepped to-go food section. I've only had breakfast but it was awesome. I LOVE how many vegan/vegetarian options they have. A majority of their cold bar is vegetarian and they even have a tofu scramble that's vegan. Between the self serve bars, the deli, the sushi section, and their like burrito station They really have every possible option when it comes to food to go. Their egg and cheddar breakfast biscuit is a must. I could eat one everyday. I wouldn't go grocery shopping here because their selection isn't as wide and their prices are definitely higher, but if I'm wanting to eat out with lots of options I'll come here. read more

Oh how I love the PCC fresh markets! The West Seattle location is no exception! This place in the heart of where it all started, is so full of character and charm - I just love it! Not that I want to encourage tourism to this local haunt - but who am I kidding? The locals here grew up with this lovely place. So who would be so new to the area that they would be asking "What is PCC?" If you really want to experience Seattle and know what it feels like to be a local for a few minutes... PCC is a good place to do it! Very "Northwest" feeling! Like a healthier Seattle version of that "Whole-paycheck-foods place!" The difference is PCC is much more focused on local, fresh sustainable and free! Chemical free, GMO free, in general - they're just plain negative vibe free. I love it! The PCC markets in West Seattle and Issaquah are especially nice to go to for lunch! Great fresh, healthy, organic lunch items right from the deli counter! Salads, sandwiches, soup, lasagna, etc. The employees are friendly, helpful and fascinating if you have a minute to chat and care. Good stuff! Nice eating areas with tables and local newspapers. Grab a copy of the Seattle Weekly or The Stranger to peruse over a nice lunch with a gluten free muffin or some kale chips and a hot tea/or coffee... you'll look and feel like a Seattleite for a few minutes! read more

I've been making a lot of changes this year, and one of those changes is in my diet; I avoid red meat and I'm trying to eat more organic and natural foods. Last year when the Edmonds store opened, PCC offered the $60 membership with a $30 gift card, a 2 for1 deal on the PCC Cooks classes, a 10% off coupon and a free grocery tote. I did the math ('cause I'm in accounting and that's what I do) and figured that passing up such a sweet deal would be silly. Though I don't shop at PCC often I now know I can go there for those special organic/free-range items that the QFC and Safeway near me don't carry an abundance of (or even a decent selection in most cases, but that's not their niche, so I don't hate). What I love more than the healthy food options, the monthly newsletter and 10% off coupon are the PCC Cooks classes (which members get a $5 discount on). Ranging from about $35 to $50, they offer a chance to brush up on or learn basic kitchen skills, a chance to try new cuisines or become more familiar and creative with some of your favorite food items, or in some cases you can sit down for a meal and wine pairings. In addition to the course package that includes the recipes and shopping lists (which you can buy for $5 if you missed the class), you'll typically get yet another coupon for a discount on your next shopping trip...Last night's class netted me recipes for all kinds of great dishes made from a pre-roasted chicken and a coupon for $10 off any purchase of $40 or more, which you know if you've shopped here is easy to use. I really like this PCC as a store overall, easy flow, I can find things quickly, and I love how the produce guys offer me a taste of some super yummy fresh fruit when I walk by and linger for even a moment. Last time I got to try this little super juicy, dribble-down-my-chin, cantaloupe variety. I bought one that second and enjoyed almost the entire thing myself the next morning. Nice way to sell produce man! Let's consider PCC from another angle, the size of their classroom. I've been assisting PCC Cooks classes for over a year now as a volunteer, and the classrooms are very different. If you will, they are in a "class of their own" at each location. The biggest one is laid out strangely, but the West Seattle one, albeit one of the smaller classrooms, is so easy to work in! The tables are arranged cozily, the instructors feel closer, more engaged with the students, and people seem to have a lot more fun. If you've never taken a PCC Cooks class, I highly recommend the hands on classes where you get to learn hands-on how to prepare each dish. Knife skills included. They aren't too much, around $45-50 and you get a coupon at each one for $10 off a purchase of $40 or more. Some of the more popular classes fill up right away, so register early, the schedule comes out each season and comes in your Member newsletter or you can grab it at the store. Bring a friend, make it a date night activity, or just go to enrich your own skill set in the kitchen. I've learned a TON. An added bonus for this store is the pace and views in West Seattle, it's just mellower, a sweet hidden spot where life slows down. And, kids get a free piece of fruit every time they come in! (We used to get free cookies when I was a kid, I like the health factor of this far better) Have fun! read more

This has been building for a while but I've tried to ignore it but today was the last straw. You cannot go into this place without them telling you to go to the self-checkout (sometimes multiple times) Today there was one person in front of me and they said it. I can't deal with it anymore! They have tons of employees walking around the store and no one wants to check people out! What kills me is the people who say it should be checking people out, not walking around the registers telling people to use the machines. Also, when they tell you to go to the machine and you go so they'll leave you alone then they say, "let me show you how to use it." No amount of organic vegetables is worth this nuisance. I'll go to Metro and TJ even though I live a lot closer this this place. read more

Hate the new store layout!!! You have cut through the checkout lines to get to the veggies, which has shrunk dramatically. Doesn't matter there's no room to turn around. The rest of the store, the aisles are to narrow cant look at whats on the shelf without stepping in front of someone going the other way.
