Terrible place. This travesty of corrections and rehabilitation would most certainly be the shame of Miami-Dade if it weren't full of "criminals". Most of the staff are either unwilling or unable to perform their functions as a corrections officer due to incompetence and/or just plain laziness. "Why don't you ask someone else" or "I don't know how to do that" were frequent responses to common questions. The staff is mostly minority women obviously there to fulfill the affirmative action demands that the county must maintain. The corporals were probably most ineffective and evasive of all. The food was frequently rotten and the facilities themselves were filthy and borderline dilapidated. The city of Miami should be ashamed of this place and perhaps be questioned about where the money goes that is supposed to serve the public. I heard many stories of the corrections officers taking resources home to profit their own endeavors or taking out frustrations on the inmates they are there to aid in rehabilitation. I spent 50 days there and heard so many stories of corruption and abuse to include sexual sorts. I think it would seem that one would have to hate themselves and/or the world in order to seek employment at such a facility. This place is a prime example of the school to prison pipeline of our country's cities with Aramark surely profiting immensely from the under served and underfed population of inmates. To top it off...it costs each individual at least 2 dollars a day to serve their time. I wonder how many public officials are "stakeholders" of this shameful endeavor. Shame on you Miami...I hope to never return to south Florida, no matter what it has to offer. Places like this surely underline the corruption of our American structure. This "reform school" is in dire need of reform from the bottom up. I'm surprised and appalled that the few good people employed there can or should have to endure such awful conditions, let alone the inmates. read more

Overseen by the Sheriff's Department, there should be accountability in this facility. The phone number they list on their website is 786-263-5110 which number you can call until your fingers bleed, and it will not get answered. Ever. Daniel Junior, the "supposed" director of all correctional facilities is aware that MWDC doesn't pick up the phone and he doesn't do anything about it. He has received plenty of complaints but they go ignored. One can form an educated guess as to why he turns the other way. However, if this isn't a "correctional" facility, since there is nothing "correct" about it - they should change their name to "we do whatever we want facility" (WDWWWF). The public is afraid of repercussions against inmantes. Drinking water comes out cloudy white, cells are filthy and anti-hygenic, inmates are bullied by guards, pharmacy and doctors sound like they're running experiments on inmates, and nobody, but ... nobody is ever held accountable. Needless to say this will all explode big one day on all their faces, and of course, nobody protests these actual acts of aggression. Why? I dont think that anyone at this dam jail knows what they are doing they are so dam rude its unbelieveable if you don't like your job thats completely your fault that you couldn't do anything better with your life. But the fact that people have thier loved ones in this jail and you treat us the family coming to see them like garbage then im sure the inmates get it ten times worse. I hope they shut this crap hole down one day soon and fire all thier worthless employees because they dont know anything anyways. I have called over and over to find out information about a inmate and they will transfer the call, or hang up it pisses me off because yes i know the people that are in there might have done stuff bad in thier life but your employees do not have to make it worse for them like have a heart because if one of your employees had a loved one in a place like this they would not want a piece of shit pushing them around and talking to them however they want day in and day out. This place is straight trash. Don't even think for a minute you're innocent until proven guilty in fact it's the opposite. Let me tell you these people come to work and make it their mission to treat people like straight trash. Miss boone for instance, puts hands on inmates, accuses them of things they don't do, writes people up just because she doesn't like them and ignores serious medical issues. I have no idea how a person can wake up everyday and treat people so bad. Just because you are in a position of power does not give you the right to abuse it. Remember everyone has a story, not everyone is a criminal, god does not like ugly and let me tell you this woman is ugly both inside and out. I am a bail bonds agent and i think i speak for all agents when i say... these people are completely useless, please fire all staff and actually hire people who take pride in their careers. Calling the jail for any info is completely useless, they disconnect the phones all the time or come up with a lame excuse. Poor work ethnic and poor leadership, you guys are all worthless, i hope a nuclear bomb lands on the exact position this jail is located at...i'm sure the inmates in there would do a better job than the actual faculty that runs this shit whole. The employees here are horrible, treat people like garbage and think they are superior to everyone. We are all human, inmates and their families. This place needs to be run by better people. This is a job that requires human qualities, but the people that work here are inhumane. I wish their families get treated the way they treat people. Does someone even run this place.
