This business has totally gone down hill! This business has mixed up my dog's records, reported inaccurate license and rabies shots to the county. The practice was negligent in telling me about my dog's test results which they reported to me as no issues when in fact there was. They apologized but but that does not negate their carelessness. I had a bad experience with Metzler Veterinary Hospital in Clearwater. The practice Be weary is under new management. My dog received unrequested services and medication. She was only supposed to receive a rabi shot and received other shots. I feel that my pet was not treated with specific consideration for her breed or condition This led to poor outcomes. So my dog has a CCL tear we weren't sure if it was a complete tear partial tear. I took her to her primary doctor, Harmony Vet Care, which is amazing by the way and they recommended Metzler I went in for a consultation. I was advised that it was a complete tear. She needed surgery, but they didn't press me. They didn't push it. They just gave me their opinion and I was able to take the time to think about it. Do my own research. It was about two months and my dog wasn't getting any better so I decided to have the surgery which was today so it's pretty early on all I can say is that the staff was compassionate and friendly very attentive. I asked about my dog about three times and they went back and checked on her. The after surgery information was very informative. They took their time I didn't feel rushed. I was told that if I had any issues I could bring her back and they would not charge me for it which was nice. It's early on in her recovery, but I think that's gonna be on me as long as she doesn't have any infections. Should go smoothly. I would recommend this place because of the good experience and you're never going to find a place that's gonna be 100% satisfactory with everyone there's always gonna be that one person that's something happened to that couldn't be avoided. I just hope my dog recovers so that I know I made the right choice.. read more

I had a very mixed experience with Metzler Veterinary Hospital in Clearwater. The veterinarian herself was kind, thorough, and genuinely cared about my sick cat. She treated my cat, prescribed antibiotics, and gave one dose of Revolution Plus for fleas, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, my experience after the visit was highly disappointing. The doctor clearly told me I could purchase Revolution Plus online for a lower price. When I attempted to do so through a licensed pharmacy, the clinic refused to send the prescription directly to the pharmacy, even after the pharmacy contacted them. The pharmacy manager later told me that I was only told to buy online through their pharmacy and that they could not help me further. This directly contradicted what I was told during the visit and left me feeling misled and unsupported while my cat was sick. I respect the veterinarian, but the office's prescription and pharmacy handling caused unnecessary stress and delay. I hope the clinic improves transparency and supports clients who choose outside pharmacies, especially when pets need timely care. read more

Overall I've had good experiences at this vet. My original vet left (Dr Bliss) which was a shame because I felt he was very thorough with his pet checks. I encountered a few different vets over the last 2 years I used this location and the last woman I saw was great. I can't remember her name but she was younger and very bubbly. I had a few issues when I needed a copy of my dog's records, mainly from the front desk staff. A couple of them aren't always particularly friendly and it's been that way for 2 years. The new office manager definitely works hard and did her best to get back to me when I had to get a bunch of paperwork for my dog to fly, so that was very much appreciated. Overall I'd definitely recommend this location over any other vet in the Tampa area. read more

The staff are wonderful. It's their business practice that is horrible. My dog had surgery a month ago and tech showed me what shots were about to be needed. I agreed to have all shots done while there . The tech told me well she only needs this one shot the and rest are not really necessary. Dog was back at office 4 times after surgery for stitches removal and bandages change. Not once during those visits did they say anything about shots. Now I am getting emails and texts saying my dog is do for shots again. I sent an email saying that I was not happy with this process and they pulled the same BS last year. Just got a call from office manager saying I was banned from office because in my email I said not to contact me . The place has really gone down fill in the past few years since it seems to be under a different management. Had been a customer there for over 10 years. read more

Dr. Dorian messed up the first surgery on my dog did a second one even charge me for it to prescribe my dog. Any antibiotics she created an infection inside couldn't tell until it was too late. I lost my dog because of this place. They're not even compassionate about it all they said was OK. They never wants to follow up check on my dog. This place is not compassionate about animals. Their owners this place deserves to burn in. Hell don't take your animal here. I even told the truth on Facebook about them and they blocked me. I hope everybody sees this. read more

We've been taking our two dogs to Dr. Metzler's office for about two years. A tumor was examined in her bladder two years ago by a vet at the practice, who has since left Metzler's practice for unknown reasons. Six months ago, we took her to see Metzler for a follow up and UTI. Dr. Metzler was totally unaware of her tumor despite having her records with him. When he was told of the tumor he blamed the departed vet for writing the notes in the wrong place. Not good but forgivable, mistakes happen and he has plenty of other clients. On September 27th, we called Dr Metzler's office to schedule an appointment for our dog with the tumor. The practice phone was not answered and the message said they're closed and if needed call a 24 hr emergency hospital, otherwise leave a message. No date nor time frame was indicated on the recording. Their website stated their hours and that they were open. I kept calling with no success, leaving messages. Needless to say I still have not heard back from their office, five days and counting. We switched to another vet to treat our dog. The new vet has been calling to get her records since as well with no success, same vague recording. My dog died a couple of days later, Thursday. Not going to blame Dr Metzler for her death necessarily, but he sure didn't make her last couple of days any better. We try to be reasonable and understanding, but there is no excuse for not updating the recording with when the doctor will return. And the bigger sin is not returning a phone call. To us that truly shows the lack of professionalism and caring for his clients. read more

The new veterinarian that bought out Dr. Metzler is completely incompetent and only wants to pay for his new clinic by increasing the final bill. This is veterinarian that only cares about money and not your pet. Asked for a refill for my dog's antibiotics and he wouldn't, even though she shows signs of an infection. He DID want to give her 7-8 vaccinations and a blood test for a total of $800 though. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. I'm in sales and this guy is a salesmen in a vet coat. The nurses and staff are polite and well organized, only reason they received 2 stars. read more

My current vet was out on vacation, my cat injured her leg, and I was going to take her to an Emergency Vet Hospital. My friend referred me to her vet and I was able to get an appointment SAME DAY! The staff was wonderful over the phone, the waiting room and examining room were immaculate, and Dr. Todd Bliss was hands down one of the best Veterinarians I have ever had the pleasure to come across. He took apart my cat carrier so I didn't have to pull her out of the carrier or get her more nervous and he didn't rush us at all. He took X-rays, went over EVERYTHING with me, and she is ON THE MEND! Consider us new patients!! read more

I have been going here since 2019. Was extremely happy the first year, but since Covid the service has changed. The loving care has vanished. For example, I recently had a growth biopsied on my 3 year old French bulldog's foot. I received the good news it was benign. And it would eventually regress and maybe go away. Ummm. How long will that take?! She is messing with it and has to wear a cone. I was informed I needed another appointment (consultation) just to see what the next step is and just for this consultation was another $60.00. (I had already had a consultation and biopsy costing around $400). Today I was told they couldn't see me until 11/2. That they are out of the office for 2 days next week (which seems like a pattern). About a year ago I had an appointment scheduled in the morning. After 45 mins of waiting, I find out they were short staffed and that I just needed to be patient with them. I was treated as if I was the problem for being upset. I have had other incidences and spent thousands of dollars over the last 3 years between vet bills and boarding. I guess I am just fed up with the excuses of not being a priority but spending lots of money. Definitely wouldn't recommend this vet! read more

Today, I had my first appointment here as I have been wanting to switch to a new vet because my other vet was too far away and very expensive. I have a 9 year-old 135 lb. golden retriever/lab mix who is very anxious and nervous which makes him aggressive. Because of this, when we go to the vet I always have to muzzle him and he is very very nervous and uncomfortable the whole time. As you can imagine it's no fun for anyone when we go to the vet. I called ahead of time and let the vet know all of his issues and that before I bring him in I have to make sure there are no other dogs around, etc. They brought me in for the first appointment of the day at 8 AM and made sure we got him into a room before he saw any other dogs. The doctor, Dr. Bliss, and the tech, Taylor, were both wonderful! They understood that he was a difficult dog but mainly because he was just scared. They were so kind to him and treated him with such care! My dog ended up really liking Taylor the tech which never happens anywhere we go so this was a big deal. Lastly, the bill was high, but only because I have a big dog and we had a lot to get done. That being said, I thought the prices were extremely fair compared to other places! I always expect to pay a decent amount when I bring my dog in and Dr. Bliss went over every charge with me which I thought was absolutely amazing! They made me and Tucker both feel so comfortable and I feel so relieved to have found a great Vet who gives awesome service and really cares about the needs of your pet. New management at this location is just after the money. My dog has been on a maintenance routine for allergies for over six years, I ordered her medicine this month as usual and now all of a sudden the office manager is demanding she come in for a new evaluation. They also aggressively push their online prescription service which is more expensive of course. Dr. Metzler is MIA, I wish him well but due to his new personnel running the place, we're not going back. That's 200 bucks a month going elsewhere. read more

(It was a terrible experience but not because of the staff or facilities. If I had to board my dog again, I'd choose Metzler--I just hope I never have to again. Staff & docs (most especially Dr Doll!) are incredible. They sincerely care. The facility (both the medical side and the boarding side) are clean and well kept. They responded quickly to my request for a filled out form so that I could file it with my insurance provider. The boarding folks have taken excellent care of my pup. I mean, I could go on and on, but you get the point, right? We drive almost an hour to get to them rather than choosing a new vet. That says it all, yes? read more

For safety, you wait in your car while they take your pet in and bring back out when done. I worried how my anxious pup might react this being her first visit. But, no problem with the calm presence of Dr Higgins (and also kudos to the aide who she told me cuddled and calmed my pup during the exam). They updated her shots and treated her ear ache efficiently and she obviously felt much better. They were also able to schedule the appointment quickly. Highest recommendation! read more

We love our pets sometimes more than people, and when a vet is able to help you through the toughest time when your pet is living their final days, that to me is just as important as helping your pet live a long healthy life. Dr. Metzler and his staff have been a blessing for me two times now. We absolutely love Metzler. We have had to board our two cats there three times recently while we traveled. Claire, Ariel and the rest of the staff know our cats by name and are so warm and welcoming to both our pets and our needs. Our two cats love it there as well. Each time they have gone, they have been happier and happier to say goodbye to us because they know they are in a familiar place with friendly and highly-competent care. This place is not want it seems. I watched for 15 minutes outside on the run I saw 3 dogs in an out no play time. I trusted them big mistake, my dog was in complete good health he is only 11/2 years old. He just needed a Bordetella Oral Vaccine which I said sure you can give it to him no problem. Keep in mind that I work for the county and I have a part time job have no hard time with money. My dog goes to the Veterinarian regularly takes Heart Guard and Activyl Plus for ticks and fleas. Heart Guard works for any type of worm, I adopted my buddy from the Humane Society in Clearwater March 22, 2016. He was born there his Birthday is February 11, 2015 all the staff their know him the Veterinarian that has the Clinic loves my buddy and my buddy loves him. Dr. Metzler gave my dog an exam after they called me three times on my Vacation. They keep saying their were things wrong with my dog. Well they said he hard Tape Worms at first could they treat him for them. I said I was going to call his Doctor and see how true this could be so I did. I call them back and said he takes Heart Guard on a regular bases how could this be. Them the lady said Oh no his has Whip Worm.....What? It was Tuesday I was really upset I was in Va. I told her to treat him but I did not believe her for a minute. I got in my car and came home. I left my grandchildren and son in the middle of my vacation. I dropped him off there on Saturday and returned on Wed. I walked into the Office asked for my buddy and they charged me $285.00 I paid the bill and looked at the receipt. They charged me for 6 days which was right but he did not stay that long I called it to her attention she fixed it, and then the Worm medicine , then the exam, and the Fecal, They said when I walked in they were getting my dog. It took time to pay and read the receipt. Get a credit and wait again. I said where is my dog. The lady said:" out for a walk." I turned an went through the door, I saw my dogs bed in a cage and no dog, looked out back called his name no dog. I walked around for a less than a minute opened a door there was my dog surrounded by three staff members one giving my baby medicine which I took from her. The whole time one staff member following me around telling me I could not go back there. . I took my dog put him in the car and straight to his Vet. I had called them first and they did a Fecal on him right away. I waited for the results the next day. Thursday.it was NEGETIVE. I went back to Metzler Office show them the Results and I gave then the Medicine back and told them I would be finding some other place to board my dog. They only gave me $54.50 back. I paid for the Bordetella and exam which was Bull, It said he had greasy hair and yellow teeth. He is only 1 1/2 years old, I put his Activyl on him and gave him His heart worm Meds just before I took him there, plus a bath. His teeth are white and he shines like Black Patten Leather.
