Food was really good- we got the Birria tacos and sopes! My only downside would be pricing- everyone on the menu was on the pricier side, especially for what is offered at other restaurants around here.

Unfortunately, this place did not do it for me. My tacos were put together well, however, the chicken kind of tasted like it was a coated with I think it was based in mayonnaise (most likely not!!!) and the toppings did not blend in to make it one cohesive flavorful bite. I did order other sides to go with my tacos and I typically order the same things my first time around for any restaurant and nothing was expressly delicious. Good yes, but I will not be back here anytime soon. I believe that people should try restaurants. So by all means go. Now as far as service, I did order to go. When you walk in the inside has great ambience and the place was pretty. I wished I could have stayed. Just inside the door is a wall or doors and there is no sign to tell you which way to go. So go left. The server or manager, the person that checked me out, was awesome. He double checked my bag make sure everything I ordered was in it. Payment was seamless. I left him a tip they were not super busy but they were busy and he was steady moving about ever so gracefully. I wish I liked this place more, as I do frequent the area, but maybe one day I'd go again I don't know yet.

This was my first time at Mex Spot and I have to say every dish we ordered was wiped clean! We started off chips and salsa that was complimentary I assume as it came out without saying anything. Chips tasted fresh, the salsa was good but extremely mild for me (I prefer spicy things but maybe great for others who don't have a tolerance for spice) . Then we got guacamole and asked for it spicy which was heaven. Sometimes when you request at restaurants to make something spicy they're hesitant but I was so happily surprise when it came with plenty of jalapeños to give it just the right kick! We were also given two different sauces in squeeze bottles, both had a bid of spice the brown one being spicer then the green. For our entrees we got quesadilla w/Chorizo and chicken fajitas both stellar dishes. I can't wait to come back, the service and ambiance are great for getting together with friends or family and catch up as it wasn't too loud so you could hear each other.

First time trying this place. Was pleasantly surprised that everything we had was well presented and had good taste. We went for a quick lunch during the day and happen to make HH time and that was a nice touch to have half off our margaritas which also were good. The mango flavor wasn't my favorite but other wise no issues. Our food was really good and the chicken fajitas were on point and had very good flavor. Service was good. It was empty at the time we went but it was also during the workday. Small place but cute Mexican place. Compared to a few other places near in the area the food was way better.

Been here twice now and everything that we had ordered has been so delicious! Easy to miss when you're driving to the place for the first time. No name visible from the street. Definitely a must try for some authentic Mexican food!

Birria tacos are PHENOMENAL! Best I've ever had, flavor was spot on and the hot sauces they have are amazing-loaded with flavor. Staff was very friendly and the restaurant gives homey vibes. 10/10 recommend this joint!

We went on a Saturday evening and it wasn't super busy so we got seated right away. Everyone was super friendly! It felt SO homey, made me feel like I was at home and my mom or dad had cooked for us . They had good music playing too. I had the horchata which was a good balance- perfect amount of sweet and cinnamon. The guac was very delicious; you could taste the freshness and the lime. The chips were also good. They didn't have any salt on them and they were crunchy and not too oily.the quesadilla was really tasty and super cheesy. We got it with chicken inside and consomé on the side which made a great dipping sauce. I had the angry birria ramen which was so delicious. I have been dying to try birria ramen because it's super trendy- and mex spot really HIT the spot!!! Lastly, the elote loco... my goodness.. this was the best elote loco I have had yet!! The lime was sour and and all the toppings made it so flavorful! The corn was on a stick which made it super easy to eat and honestly I wish I ordered a second one ! Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this place. It is pretty small and they don't seem to have too many customers which is sad because this is definitely a hidden gem in Norwalk!

Such a cute and cozy spot in Norwalk! The decor was adorable! The gentleman working was extremely attentive and quick. Guacamole and chips were great. Chips to guac ratio was good. Beef burrito was very flavorful. Chicken fajitas came with four tortillas and plenty of sides. A must try to make this a Norwalk staple!

Food was great but the curtains are a blasphemy and a hate crime! Server was helpful and attentive. Better than most Mexican food in Connecticut!

Wasn't my drink, but certainly looked tasty

I went for a quick lunch on a Tuesday.at suggestion of local town person. Must say a very inviting environment. Just had 3 different samples from bartenders suggestion on 2 of them. Incredible friendly and perfect service by fellow bartender who was busy with multiple customers inside and outside. Ever meal or drink that passed me was beautifully designed. We even talk details of their very "fun" liquor collection.

What a great little gem and so local. Delicious food great service and simply a greatly decorated and comfortable place. No liquor license as of yet but tole coming. BYOB easy as liquor store is their neighbor. Food is fresh and delicious. Recommend the rice dish with chorizo, mussels, and more!!!!!

Birria Tacos very flavorful and tasty. I t would have been better with a side of rice and beans.

Popular menu items include birria tacos, octopus, shrimp ceviche, and steak chimichurri. My daughter and I visited here for her birthday, and we both love Latin cuisine. As we walked in, we were greeted warmly and shown to our seats immediately. It was a chilly day, and the restaurant felt cold inside as well. The staff tried to warm things up with space heaters, but they didn't quite do the trick. We ordered empanadas, birria tacos, hanger steak, and sweet plantains with crema and queso fresco. When the dishes arrived, they were lukewarm--a bit disappointing, considering how cold it was outside. The birria tacos were delicious, though again, they could have been hotter. The meat was tender and well-seasoned, but I would have liked it a bit crisper. The hanger steak was tender, and the Pico de Gallo was bursting with flavor, pairing perfectly with the steak. It was nicely seasoned and had a good-sized portion. The empanadas were tasty, with flavorful and plentiful meat. The plantains were extremely delicious. The crema and queso fresco helped bring the whole dish together beautifully. The customer service was friendly, but the food could have been hotter; still, the flavors and seasonings were spot-on.

The space immediately stands out with a clean, modern feel that still feels warm, not staged or overly polished. It sets the tone before the food even hits the table. The meal itself followed through. The complimentary bread with oil was simple but done right, soft with a good crust and a clean, flavorful dip. We shared the wild mushroom arancini, and that was the first real standout. Crispy on the outside, rich on the inside, and the sauce was the kind you keep going back to without thinking. It carried the dish. For mains, I went with the wild mushroom pizza, which came out with a well balanced crust and just enough weight from the toppings without feeling heavy. The mushrooms were the focus and they delivered. The honeynut squash ravioli leaned more delicate, slightly sweet, and felt more composed than expected in a good way. Drinks held their own too. The Old Fashioned was clean and steady, while the lychee martini added something lighter and more refreshing to the table. They close the meal with biscotti and limoncello, which already would have been enough, but we added the tiramisu and that was the right call. It rounded everything out without feeling excessive, just a clean finish to a well paced dinner. Service matched the tone of the restaurant, attentive without hovering, and the pacing of the meal felt natural from start to finish. This is the kind of place that feels intentional. Not just good food, but a full experience that actually holds together. Easy to come back to, especially for something worth celebrating.

The desserts were a highlight too, the peach empanada was nice and warm, buttery, paired perfectly with the ice cream and icing, and the banana pudding was smooth, classic, and comforting with the nilla wafer crumble and fresh banana. After they became aware of the availability of a large space restaurant in the city of Norwalk, the restaurant migrated to its present spot. LOCATION: The restaurant is in a lively location, with a movie theater across the street and a convenient parking lot in the back. ATMOSPHERE: The space, which is divided by walls into three dining areas, has a "shabby chic" aesthetic and is lit by tall and wide paned industrial windows. EXPERIENCE: I've visited for brunch and Happy Hour with friends who live or work in Norwalk. Chef Taibe is creative and skillful, and I'm forever impressed by the dishes he serves. As a result, it comes as no surprise that the restaurant was recognized as best in Fairfield County during the Connecticut Restaurant Association's 2023 Crazies award ceremony. (Chef Taibe was finalist for best chef in all of the state the very same year.) The pimento cheese starter topped with Benton ham jam (happy hour/dinner) and smoked brisket hash (brunch) highlight how Chef Jeff Taibe transforms and elevates common menu items into ones that are memorable and crave-inducing.
